Valid
It’s a cliché, but it’s true, the holidays will be here before you know it. Since it seems we have less and less time to prepare, especially as the days and weeks seem to creep up on us without notice, I thought I’d give you some stress-free fashion formulas to help you look your best at every holiday party this season. Let’s jump right in!

Begin by making a list of all the holiday events and gatherings you’ll need outfits for. Don’t forget the luncheons with friends, work parties, and family get-togethers. Once you make your list, add space for three more TBA occasions. There always seem to be last minute happenings so I want you to be prepared.
I’ve created 12 outfit ideas for you from casual chic to dressy.  You may already have many of the components for the outfit formulas in your wardrobe right now. Not to worry if you don’t have the exact item I used to create a formula, I’ll give you some substitutions to get your creative juices flowing.

BLACKBlack clothing, especially when you mix textures, is a sophisticated choice.Formula: Black polka dotted sheer ruffled blouse with a nude camisole underneath tucked into a high waisted, wide-legged satin black pant. Add a chunky heeled Mary Jane shoe in patent leather, and carry a patent leather evening bag.Substitute components: Black fur, black blazer, black pashmina, black boots, black gloves
DENIMLet denim come out to play during the holidays!Formula: Dark jeans worn with a white blouse and brocade jacket, velvet booties or flats, and a beaded bag.Substitute components: Denim jacket sprinkled with a sparkly brooch, denim blazer or denim shirt with fancy skirt and pointy toe pumps

PLAIDPlaid pieces can look classic or bring a homespun look to your holiday fare.Formula: Wear a plaid narrow pant with a black sheer shirt. Add a black camisole underneath (so it’s not see-through this way!) Finish it off with patent leather heels or booties. Optional: Add a narrow leopard print belt to the pants.Substitute components: Plaid clutch, plaid shirt, plaid skirt, plaid dress, plaid pumps, plaid knee-high boots

DRAMA

Holiday season is the perfect time to bring on the drama, in your clothes that is!Formula: Burgundy velvet palazzo pants, purple cashmere cropped sweater (cropped as in shorter version, not one that shows your tummy!), a faux fur wrap in berry tones, and a jewel-colored flatSubstitute components: Liquid gold sheath dress, jacquard cigarette pants, tuxedo jacket
FURSanta Claus has fur trim but you’ve far more fur ideas to choose from.Formula: Sport a short fur jacket over a black jumpsuit. Add pretty pumps and a jacquard evening bag.Substitute components: Cardigan or sweater with fur trimmed collar, fur clutch, fur poncho/shrug, fur details on shoes
  FLORAL PRINTS
Floral prints can bring romance or excitement depending upon how you choose to wear them.
Formula: Dark print dress, lace hosiery, laced up oxfords, berry colored shawlSubstitute components: Bright floral print pants, floral satin blouse, floral midi skirt, floral velvet bag
JEWEL TONESSapphire, ruby and emerald are festive colors for the season.Formula: Wear an emerald green sweater over a black leather pencil skirt. Add a ruby or ruby-like necklace with lots of sparkle and shine.
Substitute components: Jewel-toned patent leather belt, ruby satin blouse, an embroidered shawl in emerald green or sapphire
LACEFrom lace trim to a whole piece of clothing made from lace, you’ll feel so special wearing it.Formula: Lace sleeveless purple dress, heeled suede booties, chandelier earringsSubstitute components: Black lace stockings, lace flats or pumps, lace gloves, lace skirt
METALLICBring presence to your outfit with metallic luster.Formula: Silver sparkly top paired with a pantsuit and a metallic clutchSubstitute components: Gold slip dress, gold silk blouse, rose gold heels, bronze shimmery fringe evening purse, metallic T-shirt.
REDRed is expected this year and that’s not a bad thing. So let’s make your red memorable.Formula: A red matched skirt or pant suit, crystal earrings, large gemstone cocktail ring, low velvet heels in pewter, taupe or black.Substitute components: Red dress, red lipstick, red nail polish, red pumps, red patent belt, red clutch
SEQUINSNothing says festive like sequins!Formula: Black sequined pants paired with a cream colored bulky knit sweater and silver snakeskin pumps.Substitute components: A sweater with sequin details, a sequined jacket, a sequined tank, sequined pumps, a sequined purse
WHITEWhite is an elegant, dreamy, feminine choice this time of year.Formula: A monochromatic look in all white is striking. Try a pantsuit in your best white, with a satin white blouse or tunic and velvet flats. If you want to add color, add it in your handbag.    Substitute components: White blazer, white tuxedo pants, white fur, white lace top, layered pearls, white cashmere sweater

When it comes to what to wear to your special events my best advice for holiday peace and calm is to prepare a few outfits, try them on to be sure everything fits, and take pictures of the completed ensembles. When it’s party day, choose an outfit from your pre-planned options and you’ll be ready to go! Not worrying about what to wear, having it all prepared ahead of time, will let you show up and have the fun you deserve this holiday season!

OCTOBER 09, 20180 COMMENTS…Can Set You Free!
There are many phrases thrown around in the fashion industry, so when the term capsule wardrobe came on the scene I took note. What is a capsule wardrobe? How should one use such a thing?
I did some research and found that capsule wardrobe is a term coined in the 70’s by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique. According to Faux, it’s a collection of a few essential items of clothing such as skirts, trousers, and jackets, augmented with seasonal pieces.
I played around in my own closet and discovered that 27 pieces is really all one needs to create the perfect capsule wardrobe. It offers the ability to mix and match multiple combinations to be worn together. One woman I know actually designed over 400 combinations with her 27 pieces once she was coached on how to do it!Our team at Fashion Meets Faith decided to develop the 27 Hangers concept into a workshop and online video course to help women minimize their personal wardrobes. We’ve been referred to as the Dave Ramsey of clothing because…
We help women shop on purpose, not on impulse, and help them save money in the process.
What we didn’t know when designing the online course, is how 27 Hangers would be used to help bring freedom to young women rescued from sex trafficking.I received a call from Katherine Lee, the founder of Pure Hope Foundation in Texas. She explained that women and girls rescued from sex trafficking deal with great bondage because they have been so controlled by their pimps, especially concerning dress. Then, once rescued, they’re again instructed in how to dress (in a more modest fashion) by their rescuers. And since they have learned how to manipulate others with what they wear, they are not having any of it. Basically, it’s a “don’t tell me what to wear” attitude. Many of the girls come from impoverished backgrounds so the only thing they have had control over is what to put on their bodies, and they are not giving that up.Susan, the Pure Hope Foundation house director, researched online for some fashion help. She said she really didn’t know what she was looking for but knew she needed help. She found the 27 Hangers online course. After getting permission from the board to purchase the $27 program, she decided to give it a try.
“What happened to the girls after watching and engaging in the course was astonishing,” she said. “They learned about style, color, and were educated about their body type and how to dress with dignity.”
She said it was like they came to life. A confidence emerged that wasn’t there before.

Since then, Susan has shared with me that there is no fighting over clothing anymore. One of the greatest benefits for the women is how it has changed their perspective about clothing. They always thought you had to have a lot of clothes, but this course showed them how 27 pieces could provide them with everything they need. It also empowered them with the confidence to explain to others why they don’t need tons of clothes. I was able to Skype with the girls at Pure Hope and gave them advice on the best colors and styles for them. We talked about the different clothing personalities discussed in the video course. They had so much fun telling me which clothing personality they thought they were!Since that first conversation with Katherine Lee, we at Fashion Meets Faith decided to ‘gift’ any non-profit with the 27 Hangers Online Course through our Women Matter Initiative. We also connect them with a trained Christian Image Consultant who will work directly with the women and girls as they go through the 27 Hangers program. She is able to teach them directly about how to dress for their individual body type and coloring, while also instilling confidence where there was none before.Recently, we added another layer to our Women Matter Initiative. We also help fundraise for nonprofits by hosting fashion shows with local boutiques. We share the proceeds of 27 Hangers purchases at donor events, and we deliver a keynote message filled with the gospel, faith, and fashion to those in attendance.

Who knew that the little idea of a capsule wardrobe would be used to assist in the freeing of women from bondage and instill in them a God-honoring confidence? God. He’s so creative.
