I'm VB Wyrde, a Role Playing Game designer, working on the Elthos Game System, which I started in 1978. I posts and update the mysteries and wonders of developing and GMing the Elthos RPG and Mythos Machine.
This thread, started by Tim Baker on Mewe today, covers some important points about the Mutual Collaboration Society of the Elthos RPG Mythos Machine. I thought I would post it to my blog for future reference.
Here we go... And as always, I look forward to hearing any thoughts you folks may have on this. Thanks!
I'm working to compile a list of tabletop RPG settings that permit
So last week I found myself assaulting the mortal world with three posts in which I described my ghastly idea of the World of Death starting with a post titled The Rays of Un-Life. Mostly what you can take away from those three posts is that the World of Death is unrelenting, all-destroying, and without the least bit of joy, or sorrow, fun, or in fact any emotion at all, with the sole exception
In my previous two posts I talked about the concept of the Runic Undead with the Rays of Un-Life.

The Rays of Un-Life - Part II
Some of my reader on MeWe have posted questions, which I've answered there, so this post is a continuation and elaboration on those thoughts. Let's go.
It is notable that a Necromancer in possession of a Skull that emits the Rays of Un-Life has
To add a bit more of my ponderings on the Rays of Un-Life (Emission Theory of Vision + Dark Energy) ... one might ask, and fairly, if the Skeletons of Un-Life emit Dark Energy from their eyes, the inverse of light, what is it that they actually see?
This is an interesting question, and so I've been pondering this for some time. Here's what I came up with. The Dark World. That's what they see.
The Rays of Un-Life
I stumbled on an article about how our forefathers interpreted vision. They had it the exact opposite of what we now know to be true... which is that light enters the eye and forms an image in the brain. But formerly, the Emission Theory of Vision held sway.
The next day I went to visit an artist friend of mine. She
Well, I have to admit, I think the design of my Adventure of Whitewode may have been just a wee bit too damn ambitious. I want to explain how it came about, what my thoughts were, how it played out, and what the downstream consequences were... maybe this will be of interest to other GMs, or for future reference somehow. I don't know. But it was a fascinating project nonetheless, and though at

Character Races - Enhancement
GMs now have the ability to associate both Skills and / or Mystic Powers to Races. To do so GMs can create Skill or Mystic Power Books for specified Races, and then associate those books to the Races they wish. Once done those Books will automatically assign the Race-Skills and / or Race-Powers to the Character when the Character Class is changed by the Player or
Today I want to talk briefly about the design of the Elthos RPG Mystic Power System because I think it may have some features that people don't know about, but might like. There's two aspects of importance here. One is for the GM, and the other is for the Players.
I'll start with the Players. First off there's two kinds of Mystic Powers: Spells and Invocations. They both use Mystic Energy
I had a nice time chatting with Tenkar about Elthos RPG and the Mythos Machine ... here's the interview ... Many thanks to Tenkar for the interview! You can find Tenkar's Tavern on the Web and on Discord.
