We all know the 4th of July weekend is the busiest time of the summer. But you don’t have to save the fun and festivities just for the 4th of July! Here are some activities you and your family can enjoy all week long.

Lighting the Fuse

Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp vs. Chattanooga Lookouts

When: July 1- July 3 |  7 p.m.
Where: Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville | 301 A. Philip Randolph Blvd.

The Jumbo Shrimp are celebrating Independence Day by wearing specialty patriotic jerseys. A special treat for fans that catch the game on July 3, sit back and relax as you and your family watches one of the largest fireworks displays in the city after the game! This is perfect if you’re planning to go out of town on the 4th but still want to see some fireworks in #DTJax.

First Wednesday Art Walk at Downtown Jacksonville

When: July 3 | 5-9 p.m.
Where: Downtown Jacksonville
Cost: FREE

If your not a big sports fan but still want to be outside enjoying the July weather, you and your family should stop by Downtown’s First Wednesday Art Walk on July 3! Art Walk is a free event and a relaxing way to spend time with your family during the 4th of July week. You’ll also get the chance to meet local artists, buy their creations and becoming a part of the rapidly growing art & culture scene in Jacksonville. Details.

SILENT DISCO at Myth Nightclub

When: July 3 | 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.
Where: Myth Nightclub | 333 E. Bay St.
Cost: Free before 10 p.m. – General Admissions: $10 | 21+ is FREE

Just because Art Walk ends at 9 p.m. doesn’t mean the party is over. Stick around and experience the nightlife of #DTJax! Myth nightclub is hosting a Silent Disco featuring 5 different channels of music with over a dozen of the Regions best DJs.

Red, White, and BOOM!

City of Jacksonville Fireworks

When: July 4 | 9:45 p.m.
Where: Downtown Riverfront
Cost: FREE

Finally, the day everyone has been waiting for! A perfect way to end the night on the 4th of July is to watch the fireworks on the Downtown Riverfront.

The fireworks display can be seen from many locations along the Northbank and Southbank including the Riverside Arts Market, Hyatt Regency, DoubleTree Hotel, Lexington Hotel, Cowford Chophouse and more!

Cowford Chophouse 4th of July celebration

When: July 4
Where: Cowford Chophouse | 101 E. Bay St.

With a week to go, people are looking for the perfect place to celebrate and watch fireworks. If you want to enjoy a tasty meal while enjoying the best view of the St. Johns River, Cowford Chophouse is the place to be. They will have a special 4th of July menu, featuring patriotic cocktails and a delicious Kobe Beef Hot Dog of the Day dubbed the “Slaw Dog” with coleslaw, dill pickle and potato chips. Get there early because tables are first come first serve on the rooftop.

Fourth of July at RAM

When: July 4 | 6-10 p.m.
Where: Riverside Arts Market | 715 Riverside Ave.
Cost: FREE

Another hot spot during the 4th of July celebration is the Riverside Arts Market. Under the Fuller Warren Bridge there will be fun for the whole family and some of your favorite food trucks and makers from Riverside Arts Market. Ending the night with the City of jacksonville firework show at 9:45pm.

Fourth of July on the River

When: July 4 | 7-9:45 p.m.
Where: Eight Forty One Prudential | 841 Prudential Dr.
Cost: $12, children get in free with the purchase of an adult ticket.

Eight Forty One invites everyone to join them for their Second Annual Fourth of July on the River. Guests will enjoy live entertainment and delicious food from 7-9 p.m. So bring your lawn chairs so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront 4th of July River Deck Celebration

When: July 4 | 7-10 p.m.
Where: Hyatt Regency Jacksonville | 225 East Coastline Dr.
Cost: FREE

Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront invites you to a 4th of July Celebration on their River Deck overlooking the St. Johns River with a spectacular fireworks show. Festivities start 7 p.m. but seating is first come first serve, so come early! Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

When you think of Summer, most people think of beaches, barbeques, and being out in the sun; but you can also have some Summer fun in Downtown Jacksonville. Here is a list of some activities around #DTJAX that you and your family can enjoy.

Arts + Culture

Jacksonville Public Library (Jax Makerspace)

The Jacksonville Public Library and Jax Makerspace is a place for making things, from movies to music, art to apps, robots to radios, novels to needlepoint. It’s a place for anyone interested in hands-on opportunities to explore, collaborate and create.  If you want to reserve equipment or just learn how to be more invoved, visit their website for more details. MOCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art is the perfect place to kill some time by looking at beautiful art pieces while also getting out of the summertime heat. MOCA not only has stunning galleries but also Art workshops and a children’s area. Checkout their upcoming events here

 MOSH Boat Tours

If it’s too hot to explore  Downtown Jacksonville on foot,  you can always sit and relax while the Museum of Science & History takes the whole family on an historical boat ride. Every Saturday afternoon they offer boat rides accompanied by a History Host that will guide you through the history of Jacksonville and the significance the river has played in our community over time. Chamblin’s

Whether it’s to escape the summer heat or just to grab a cup of coffee to start off your morning, Chamblin’s is a relaxing spot to visit. Riverside Arts Market

 If you like to shop and support  local businesses, RAM is the place to go! The first Saturday of every month, RAM features a variety of small businesses from farmers to artists to makers and bakers under the Fuller Warren Bridge. Wolf & Cub      

 In DTJax there are a lot of hidden treasures that you might not catch at first glance driving around. Wolf & Cub  is a small, locally- owned clothing shop that carries one-of-a-kind jewelry, hand-screen printed clothing and unique vintage finds. Staying Active

Biking the Riverwalk

Another way to stay active while also exploring #DTJax is biking on the Southbank Riverwalk. Enjoying the scenic route while staying healthy; it’s a perfect way to spend your summer days.  For those who are looking for longer rides, use the DTJaxMap to plan your route.

 

Corkscrew Park

Since it’s summer, we are all trying to look and feel our best. For those that love to exercise regularly, you should go workout at the Corkscrew. On the Northbank Riverwalk in #DTJax Corkscrew Park is a free outdoor gym that features workout equipment such as: free weights, yoga mats, and medicine balls. A great way to have a group workout sessions or just go for a run with a great view. There also are free group workouts sessions offered at The Corkscrew presented  by Winston Family YMCA. Led bycertified trainers that take place each Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. Bring yourself and a friend and get your sweat on!

 

Yoga in the Atrium

Summer is the perfect time to destress and what’s a better place to relax then yoga classes in an art gallery. This yoga is a slow ashtanga vinyasa style class held the last Sunday of every month in MOCA’s Atrium Gallery.

Kraken Cycle Boats

Urban Kayaking

Celebrate Summer at Art Walk!
Join us for the 6th Annual Bold City Brewery Summer Sizzle featuring the release of Big John’s Apricot Wheat Ale, available for purchase.
Headquarters at Hemming Park:
  • Stroll through Hemming to view art and works from the vendors of Trash Panda, a local flea market.
  • Enjoy a live performance on the Main Stage by The Firewater Tent Revival from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
The Oasis @ Art Walk:
  • Find your chill at our summer placemaking experience in Hemming Park on June 5th.
  • Check out details on this and other placemaking initiatives here.
Kids Zone on Adams Street:

YMCA Group Workout Classes at Corkscrew Park!
Just in time for the summer fitness crunch, we’re partnering with the Winston Family YMCAand City of Jacksonville to bring you FREE group workouts at The Corkscrew – #DTJax’s new outdoor public gym located on the Northbank Riverwalk in the shade of the Acosta Bridge.
These certified personal trainer-led classes take place each Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. so bring yourself and a friend and get your sweat on. (Bathrooms & water fountain on site.)
