The already legendary story of SAINT VITUS began in the year 1978, when guitarist Dave Chandler, together with Armando Acosta on drums and bass player Mark Adams, started rehearsing. After trying out two other singers, the band finally settled for vocalist Scott Reagers under the designation TYRANT. In August 1979 the quartet played their first show and in 1980 their name was finally changed to SAINT VITUS. Reportedly this move was inspired by the BLACK SABBATH song "St. Vitus' Dance", taken from the “Volume 4” album (1972).
The eponymous debut album "Saint Vitus" had been released in the same year and was quickly followed by the second full-length "Hallow's Victim" (1985) and an EP entitled "The Walking Dead" (1985). With Thrash Metal on a furious rise, the ultra-heavy sound of SAINT VITUS was mainly enjoyed by connoisseurs of Doom and a dedicated underground following. This might have been one of the reasons for Scott Reagers to part from the band in 1986. His unexpected move turned out to be hardly a problem for the band as they recruited Scott "Wino" Weinrich from THE OBSESSED, who is considered as the ultimate voice of SAINT VITUS by a clear majority of their adherents.
When Scott Reagers left, Dave Chandler had already written most of "Born Too Late" (1986). This album gained the Americans growing attention in the Metal underground especially overseas. The anthemic title track is considered be one of the great Doom hymns by many fans.
The EP "Thirsty and Miserable" (1987) followed, which featured a BLACK FLAG cover version of the same name, but "Mournful Cries" (1988) was still going to be the last album for SST Records. All this hard work during the previous years started to pay off. With their aptly named fifth full-length "V" (1989) now released on the famous German Doom label Hellhound Records and the live recording "Live" coming out a year later, interest started to grow considerably, although at first in continental Europe, but soon after in England as well. Just as the horizon was brightening for the Godfathers of Doom, Wino decided to leave SAINT VITUS and reform THE OBSESSED in 1990, which turned out to be a serious blow.
Wino was first replaced by Christian Lindersson from Swedish musical and spiritual brothers COUNT RAVEN. With him at the microphone SAINT VITUS recorded "C.O.D." (1992), which was produced by Don Dokken and gained high critical acclaim. Despite the warm welcome received, the band remained largely inactive after this release.
Two years later, SAINT VITUS reunited with their original singer Scott Reagers. This led to the again much applauded album "Die Healing" (1995). It might have been the right time for the group to reap the harvest of all the amazing songs that they had sown, but due to severe health problems of Scott Reagers their European tour had to be prematurely ended and that seemed to be the end of the SAINT VITUS story for a long time, much to the dismay of their loyal and by then many followers.
At the time nobody could have foreseen that April 29th, 2009 in Stuttgart, Germany would mark Armando Acosta’s final performance with SAINT VITUS. After this last show in Europe the band returned to the States as planned. There Amando’s multiple serious health issues were continuing to take their toll on him, and with great sadness on November 25th, 2010 SAINT VITUS received the painful news that their longtime friend and band mate had passed away.
When SAINT VITUS played their massive show at Hellfest in France, the crowd witnessed a new member on the drum stool. Henry Vasquez, who had already joined Dave Chandler on his project DEBRIS INC. made his debut there and remained with the band from that day on.
In 2012, SAINT VITUS signed to Season of Mist, who proudly released "Lillie: F-65" in April. Seventeen years after their previous album and nine years after their reunion, SAINT VITUS were returning with a masterpiece that cemented their status as true icons of Doom. "Lillie: F-65" includes the trademark song writing style so beloved by SAINT VITUS fans: there is the cataclysmic and unmistakable guitar sound of co-founder Dave Chandler full of reverbs, feedbacks, flanger and apocalyptic distortion leading to amazing and magical solos. "Lillie: F-65" is furthermore graced with the deeply resonant vocals of Scott "Wino" Weinrich who had rejoined the fold to record an album with the band for the first time since the glorious "V" (1989) and whom many consider to be the classic SAINT VITUS vocalist.
From the very first guitar chords, that unmistakable frying, sizzling, and wailing signature sound of Dave Chandler, any adherent of classic doom metal will immediately know: this is SAINT VITUS. The godfathers of American Doom Metal will soon embark on an extensive European tour in celebration of their 40th band anniversary. At first glance a bold statement such as "godfathers of American Doom Metal" might appear to be weighing as heavy as this band sounds. Nonetheless this is simply the truth in this case.
Leipzig/Germany-based sludge/doom quintet QUALLUS unveil their long awaited debut album on minoR obscuR records and Bharal Tapes. Floating and powerful fuzzed out riffs meet crushing slow motion parts, infiltrated by pulping sludge heaviness, crowned by severe and fierce squealing vocals.
QUALLUS delivers two massive songs with 40 minutes playtime in total; crafting a beautiful mixture of down-tuned, gnarly riffs, fucked-up vocals and heavily pumping drums, with a terrific sense of monolithic, brain-melting melodies. On the selftitled LP the band is sounding out the pure power of Sabbath-inspired guitar riffs and ultra deep bass frequencies under full use of their volume knobs. Slow, brutal, unavoidable and fascinating!
"Founded in 1993, MOURNFUL CONGREGATION have become one of the most influential funeral doom metal bands on the planet. Being Australia's slowest export, they have constantly been evolving their impressive style of crawling heaviness starting with the debut 'Tears From A Grieving Heart' (1999), followed by crushing 'The Monad Of Creation' (2005), glacial 'The June Frost' (2009) and majestic 'The Book Of Kings' (2011). Another seven years later, MOURNFUL CONGREGATION are back with 'The Incubus Of Karma' marking their bleakest and most haunting opus so far. Delivers grandiosely played, two-voiced guitar melodies that take you on a mesmerizing trip through mental darkness and infinite suffering." (SM)
"Boasting eight, groove-driven slabs of infernal fury, 'Coven's Will' pulls off the neat trick of sounding simultaneously timeless and timely, as the fundamental principles of our beloved genre are fed through the Australians' pitch-black prism and spat out in a shower of wild, hallucinatory devil blues."
"At the very latest since their stunning predecessor 'Of Woe And Wounds' (2014) and a jaw dropping show at the Hammer Of Doom festival, Indiana's APOSTLE OF SOLITUDE belong to the top bands of the traditional doom metal genre. Their actual album is called 'From Gold To Ash' serving dramatically rolling hymns of gloom and sorrow adorned with Chuck Brown's captivating vocals and razor sharp guitar leads. Favorite tracks: 'Keeping The Lighthouse' and 'My Heart Is Leaving Here'!" (SM)
"On their fifth album, 'Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed', HOODED MENACE from Finland perfectly interweave slowly crushing, hymnal doom with 90s style technical death metal. Partially feels like My Dying Bride recruited Death-mastermind Chuck Schuldiner (R.I.P.) to make the guitars cry and shred!" (SM)
"Second full-length album, 'Ascending Into Shimmering Darkness', by Liverpool's COLTSBLOOD provides bleakest, painfully crawling funeral/death doom metal of the highest quality level, which is interspersed with sludge and grind driven rage. A sonically devastating piece of grief and despair!" (SM)
"Recruiting two ex-Trouble members including Ron Holzner (bass) and Eric Wagner (vocals) as well as Witch Mountain guitarist Rob Wrong and ex-Cathedral drummer Brian Dixon, THE SKULL play most traditional doom metal. Started in 2012 to perform early Trouble material live, THE SKULL already released their second album called 'The Endless Road Turns Dark' providing brand new material that pays homage to the good old 'Psalm 9' and 'The Skull' times. Serves eight absolutely authentic, ultra-heavy tracks of thick and catchy doom metal. There has never been more Trouble with THE SKULL as on the new full-length!" (SM)
"'The Wayward and the Lost' is the third album by Ohio's BENEATH OBLIVION, who grandiosely combine utterly crawling, sorrowful funeral and death doom metal with sludge style nihilism in both the immanent melodiosity of the full album and the abysmally gurgling and desperately crying twin vocals. Breathtakingly beautiful and pulping!" (SM)
"Being one of Germany’s most senior doom metal bands DAWN OF WINTER released 'Pray For Doom', their third full-length album in almost 30 years of existence. Adds another chapter of traditionally paving heaviness filled to the brim with epic storytelling and desperately crawling, ever haunting melodies for sorely afflicted genre purists. Masterpiece!" (SM)
"If 2018 needs a soundtrack to its madness, WITCHSORROW have provided it. Heavier, darker, doomier, and more metal than ever before, one of doom's leading lights have made the perfect album for our times."
"WINDHAND have crafted a record brilliant in scope, powerful in execution, and perfect for an era of increasingly blurry yet still heavy stylistical borders. Serves unbelievably catchy, grunge-infused psychedelia and rolling high end doom metal!"
"On '6 Anti-Odes To Life', DOOMED take you on a multi-faceted trip through the horrors of life combining old school doom and death metal with vast, progressively evolving soundscapes full of tons heavy guitar riffs and beautifully chanting leads. It's both a melancholic symphony and a sonic statement to defend life against the real existing adversities." (SM)
"Fifteen years after their last official full-length album, SLEEP is back with six brand new tracks on 'The Sciences'. Revives classical themes of monolithically rolling 'Dopesmoker' and crushing 'Holy Mountain' albums with Matt Pike (High On Fire) riffing at maximum distortion level and Al Cisneros monotonously bubbling Om style vocals. Less dirt but still SLEEP!" (SM)
"Californian doom metal virtuosi URSA released debut full-length, 'Abyss Between the Stars', via Blood music. Recommended for fans of Monolord’s fuzz-driven groove and Pallbearer-style gracefulness!" (SM)
"On 'Rift', Louisiana-based band FORMING THE VOID continue their unique trip of ethereal joy and musical exploration through heavy rock history. An amazingly atmospheric, always spaced-out, vocally catching, pointedly ethnic and crushingly heavy album that is delivering a crispy modern sound – perfectly blends blues, psychedelic, heavy rock, stoner and doom metal!" (SM)
"Filled with monolithically drifting sludge riffs, haunting melodies and almost pop-like vocals that are drenched in cosmic sound lava, 'Lux Initiatrix Terrae' by French HUATA is one of the stand out doom records of 2018. Combines Conan’s slowly droning heaviness with the catchiness of Mars Red Sky style fuzzy stoner, partially feels like Ghost getting high on crawling Sunn o)) distortion – jaw dropping!" (SM)
"A decade after "Twilight Ritual", DEADBIRD from Fayetteville/Arkansas released their brand new album – 'III: The Forest Within the Tree' – on 20 Buck Spin Records rolling out crushing sludge/doom metal with Neurosis like magnitude!" (SM)
"Six years after 'The Feather Tipped The Serpent's Scale', Salt Lake City's extreme music duo EAGLE TWIN is back with the third full-length album. 'The Thundering Heard' continues their unique and relentless style combining groovy sludge and monolithic doom riffage with stomach kneading drones and ear bleeding distortion. Serves four outstanding tracks that leave you sonically crushed and trampled by thousands of hoofs!" (SM)
"'Deus Vult' marks the third album of Cracow (Poland) based band EVANGELIST, who evolved their already grandiose epic doom metal sound to perfection serving razor sharp heavy guitars, ultra-catchy melodies and top high register vocals reminiscent of genre pioneers Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass and the likes." (SM)

SUNN O)))) present their first European tour since 2016, and the premier tour of their 2019-2020 season. Including their first ever French tour (not including Paris), returning to old haunt Kampnagel in Hamburg, mythical Paradiso in Amsterdam, as well as headlining Elevate festival in Graz, and Divadlo Archa Prague.
Formed in March 1998 SUNN O))) have been challenging the ways we think about music in the twenty years since. A synthesis of diverse: drone, metal, minimalism/maximalism verging on the edge of pure sonic ecstasy, meditation and trance through the power, beauty and colour of sound pressure emanating from their legendary SUNN O))) backline and their earth shaking tectonic compositions of existence, dedicated to the mysteries of life and the cosmos.
SUNN O))) has two core members: Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, supported by a tribe of collaborators. From 1999’s "The Grimmrobe Demos" to 2018’s "Downtown LA Rehearsal/Rifftape"; from their now classic albums "Black One" (2006), "Monoliths & Dimensions" (2009), "Soused" (2014) & "Kannon" (2015) to their forthcoming to-be-revealed-but-recently-completed two 2019 album epics, founders Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson have forged paths and connections between the worlds of Metal, contemporary art, drone, new music, jazz and minimalism with startling results while remaining true to the eternal principles of volume, density, elasticity of time, blossoming of saturation viable only to the disciples and fetishists of electric guitar, synthesis, multiple gain stages and some of history’s greatest pure valve amplification.
The current concert line-up extends around power trio of Stephen O’Malley (Guitar), Greg Anderson (Guitar), and their valve guru and long time collaborator Tos Nieuwenhuizen (Moog), aside selected special guests. Together they relentlessly pursue their exploration and elaboration of SUNN O)))’s legendary experiments with the physicality of sound in instrumental based live performances with remarkable events at some of their favourite venues, as well as concerts in singular events and spaces such as Italy’s impressive cultural complex Labrinto Della Masone, Germany’s Ruhrtriennale Festival of Arts, Royal Festival Hall & The Barbican in London, Bergen's Dømkirke and Manchester International Festival being a few emblematic examples.
Rejoin them in their glorious pursuit of the monumental heaviness.
Relapse is proud to announce the signing of Swedish trio MONOLORD. Formed in Gothenburg in 2013, MONOLORD quickly burst onto the scene releasing three critically-acclaimed full-lengths in a four-year span (Empress Rising, Vænir and Rust) on RidingEasy Records all while touring relentlessly around the globe. MONOLORD is a rare breed: A band both encompassing and transcending genre; a vortex of heavy rock density that consumes all others. The band’s enveloping, syrupy sludge is a state of mind, with guitarist/vocalist Thomas Jäger, drummer Esben Willemsand bassist Mika Häkki create a massive, dynamic sound with ultra-low frequencies serving as its fourth member. MONOLORD’s yet-to-be-titled fourth studio album is expected to be released in late 2019. Stay tuned for more information.
MONOLORD comment on the signing:
"Stoked about this! Working with people who are driven by the passion for music above anything else has always been key for us. The fine music lovers at Relapse are just the kind of passionate people we want to spread the decibel gospel with and we feel confident that this is gonna be a very sweet ride together."

"The First and Last Days of Unwelcome" to be re-released on January 11th 2019
It's been a tragedy for the world of metal, when the remarkable debut album 'The First and Last Days of Unwelcome' has been likely proved to be the first and last work of Lumbar. The trio of metal veterans Aaron Edge (Ramprasad / Bible Black Tyrant / Rote Hexe / Iamthethorn / Roareth / Phemüt), Yob's Mike Scheidt and Tad Doyle (Brothers of the Sonic Cloth / TAD) released their highly acclaimed debut album back in 2013, when the life of band mastermind and multi-instrumentalist Edge has already changed forever.
Lumbar is Edge’s unique collaboration with the two vocalists — Yob’s Mike Scheidt and Tad Doyle. Edge wrote and recorded the music and penned the lyrics, during one long weekend in Seattle, and they added their voices. At this point, Edge has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
"It's been five years since I wrote and recorded the Lumbar endeavor (in GarageBand, no less) and that time really did pass quickly.” Edge explains. “It has also been six years since my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, but that time has gone by much too slowly. The pain has not ceased, nor the frustration, and certainly not the fear. But, there are some positive things to focus on: my meds are now dulling some of the nerve trouble, I'm able to play music regularly again, and two labels share my excitement in the re-release of "The First and Last Days of Unwelcome" as hand-numbered 12" vinyl on Argonauta Records and hand-numbered cassettes on Anima Recordings.
The five year agreement and music license that was held between myself and Greg Anderson, of Southern Lord, ended this month, releasing the control of the recording back into my hands. I'd like to thank Greg, for his belief in the vision and importance of Lumbar for me. He has always shown true friendship, guidance and support and I won't forget that.
There is a difference in the first release, back in 2013, and the re-release for January 2019; there was first an urgency and now there is a reminder.
The urgency tore me and my marriage apart, it changed my life forever, the MS diagnosis was (at the time) a bleak future. And, to be honest, I'm not optimistic about how my life with the disease will change and morph as I grow older. But, I'm still here. I made it this far. The urgency of the first release of these seven tracks is now a reminder of change... it is inevitable and uncontrollable. Nature does what nature does, she can not be restrained.
I can not thank enough, then and now, the donation of friendship and talent from both Mike Scheidt and Tad Doyle: there’s only a small handful of people on the planet that I know—that I would feel comfortable having them tell my story—and these guys were at the top of the list. I love you two men.
Thank you to Gero of Argonauta and David of Anima for reminding all of us about creative energy, about storytelling. I do hope you all reading this and listening in appreciate the recording, as heavy and dark in subject matter as it truly is, all over again."
With seven tracks and a runtime of less than 25 minutes, 'The First and Last Days of Unwelcome' is a relentless trek through doom metal featuring Scheidt and Doyle, the screamer and singer, who perfectly round up this epos. On January 11th 2019, Argonauta Records will re-release the cult album on Vinyl by a project that has been truly missed in the heavy music scene.
Coming with a re-designed album artwork, 'The First and Last Days of Unwelcome' will be available on CD (for the first time ever) and an exciting color LP edition of 300 hand numbered copies.
Says Gero Lucisano, CEO of Argonauta Records: "It's been a year ago when I’ve been lucky enough to team up with Aaron Edge for his new project Bible Black Tyrant, we released on Argonauta in early 2018. A massive sludge blast I’m totally proud of. With Aaron, a hard working musician, I got the chance to speak about many music endeavours and thanks to his positive and propositive attitude it is a pleasure and a honor to work the official reissue of the legendary LUMBAR album. This is not only an impressive work, emotional and intensive, this beast also features the line-up Mike Scheidt (YOB) and Tad Doyle (of legendary TAD), basically my hero of today’s scene and the hero of my youth. Argonauta Records is stoked to welcome the band and album within its range."
Richmond, Virginia's psychedelic heavyweights WINDHAND unveil "Grey Garden", the video and lead single off their forthcoming album "Eternal Return".
"Eternal Return" is a complete life-to-death journey. As unplanned things go, it's an observation of as well as a reflection on life's ups and downs, joys and sorrows, beginnings and ends. Between the band's 2015 highly acclaimed "Grief's Infernal Flower" and 2018's "Eternal Return" WINDHAND welcomed new life, survived lineup changes and mourned unexpected death. The songs and song ordering are the direct result of those experiences. Where "Halcyon" is assured in its opening, the closing track "Feather" is its funeral march.
WINDHAND - Grey Garden (Official Music Video) - YouTube
WINDHAND wrote "Eternal Return" all throughout the winter. Out of the sessions, "Halcyon", "Grey Garden", "Red Cloud" and the monstrous "Eyeshine" emerged as the heaviest tracks, while "Pilgrim's Rest", "Diablerie" and "Feather" embodied the more reflective side of WINDHAND. The juxtaposition of heavy, psychedelic and pensive is less like Black Sabbath or Sleep and more like Soundgarden or Veruca Salt. But the name-drops aren't absolute so much as signals of WINDHAND's ability to stretch beyond genre confines.
"Eternal Return" represents a new era for the group, a chrysalis moment that takes them to new and unforeseen heights. Boosted by Garrett Morris' consistently cool riffs-forged at the crossroads of Iommi's otherworldly import and Kurt Cobain's spontaneous precocity-powered by Ryan Wolfe and Parker Chandler's groove-laden rhythms, and propelled by Dorthia Cottrell's smoky yet wistful vocals, WINDHAND's new album is a two-step jump for Richmond's finest purveyors of the psycho-actively heavy. Adorned by Arik Roper's (Sleep, High on Fire) impressive cover art, Eternal Return not only looks the part of WINDHAND's artistic growth but sounds the part.
WINDHAND brought Jack Endino back into the fold. Together, they spent two weeks recording at Soundhouse Recording in Seattle. Described as "smooth" and "intense", the sessions with the famed producer were just what WINDHAND wanted. Endino also understood the group's artistic progression, chiefly the admiration of and blending in late 80s/early 90s grunge. Out of it all, WINDHAND continued to refactor and refine their vision of heavy. A new era of psychedelic heaviness is upon us with WINDHAND's genre-blurring "Eternal Return". Sweet, fuzzed-out oblivion has never been closer.
"Eternal Return" sees its release October 5th on Relapse Records. WINDHAND venture on a full North American tour this fall with Satan's Satyrs.
California sludge/doom outfit AMAROK debut their first full length in partnership with Translation Loss Records entitled "Devoured". With four epic and expansive tracks spanning almost 70 minutes, AMAROK take their listeners on a sorrowful journey of epic proportions. Vast and powerful, AMAROK prey on your darkest phobias imparting the perception of nearly drowning, the claustrophobic sensation of being held under water until the last second when released and gasping for air. Each track delivers focused and fearless journeys through harrowing, metallic riffs and rips through bleak, unsettling atmosphere while cataclysmic waves of bass and drums pummel from the inside out.
"On 'Devoured', AMAROK combine melodiously haunting funeral doom metal with painfully distorted, gnawing drone sounds. Feels like disturbing Khanate interpret Pallbearer-style hymns of grief and despair!" – Doom Metal Front
AMAROK formed in Chico, California in 2009. They released their first self-titled EP in October of 2010 followed by three well-received splits with Hell, Enth and Pyramido. AMAROK have played multiple tours up and down the west coast with notable bands such as Cough, Bell Witch, Floor, Samothrace, Noothgrush, Weedeater, Atriarch and more.
"Devoured" was produced by Sanford Parker and mastered by James Plotkin.
"With the band moving towards long form doom with complex, evolving riffs and dynamic changes, collectively we felt that our material warranted a call to Sanford Parker", recalls bassist/vocalist Brandon Squyres. "We booked a short west coast tour to meet with Sanford in LA at Big Bad Studios and spent a week collaborating with him on material and playing with his extreme noise style to compliment the intensity of the new songs. We then sent the recordings to James Plotkin to master, and spent a month dialing everything in to perfect the albums enormous live sound".
There are few bands around in the slow paving music genre with a programmatic name. So with DOOMED, who are originated in Germany's far eastern province Saxony. They have released six full- length albums within six years on the respected Russian doom metal label Solitude Productions. Their newest effort is called "6 Anti-Odes To Life" serving six plus one lengthy tracks about representative topics that could lead to reject human existence and life at all.
"On '6 Anti-Odes To Life', DOOMED take you on a multi-faceted trip through the horrors of life combining old school doom and death metal with vast, progressively evolving soundscapes full of tons heavy guitar riffs and beautifully chanting leads. It's both a melancholic symphony and a sonic statement to defend life against the real existing adversities." – Doom Metal Front
"There are so many situations in life I despise", says DOOMED mastermind and multi-instrumentalist Pierre Laube, "like death, parting, ignorance, competition and greed, the ruination of Mother Earth, religion, uncertainty, sickness, threat, war – a never ending story. This is what I tell about in '6 Anti-Odes ...' but in the final seventh track – 'Layers - Ode to Life' –, which is proving in melancholic manner that I actually love living. I'm virtually absorbing life, embracing it – I want to stay! Finally, this instrumental song dissolves the album's overall mood. Feel invited to read my thoughts about it in the booklet!"
"6 Anti-Odes To Life" is way more melancholic and leaving the progressive death metallic paths entered on "Anna", DOOMED's acclaimed predecessor. Pierre returns to the essence of doom taking much time to evolve a massive wall of sound.
"Of course, there are nasty parts as well", Pierre adds. "It still matters to be uncomfortable, and to combine layer after layer, melodies and create connections. There's so much cinema in my head when creating music. The album is both a step back, stylistically, and forward when talking about new influences like pointed post-metal elements, vast soundscapes and loads of flow, which I dig a lot."
In 2018, DOOMED is far away from the standard death doom metal of their early days writing ambitious multifaceted and highly empathetic music that is channeling anger and frustration in pure sonic beauty. For the first time Pierre is singing the clean parts himself proving that his vocal skills are as impressive as the abyssal growls. Adding his brother Yves into the compositorial process, who is playing all main guitar leads on the album, DOOMED has become something like a real band leaving its strict one-man project character.
Willjiam Nijhof (vocals – Faal)
Andreas Kaufmann (vocals – Charon, Hatespawn, Purgatory)
The rite is a 9-track vortex of majestic heaviness laced with an evocative psychedelic haze, whereby classic melodies meld with fuzz-drenched riffs cultivating an enticing potion of technicolour wickedness. Although a grooving heavyweight tone drives throughout the rite, a darkened presence is forever evident, hexing you into DRUG CULT’s realm.
"DRUG CULT's self-titled debut serves female fronted, hypnotically rolling occult doom metal unmistakably nourishing itself from the billowing womb of the stoned master wizard!" – Doom Metal Front
Formed at the edge of Mt. Jerusalem in the hills of Mullumbimby, Australia, DRUG CULT is the alchemic workings of guitarist Vin Steele (ex-Wolfmother, Megaritual, Sun Of Man), vocalist Aasha Tozer, drummer Dale Walker (Megaritual, Sun Of Man) and bassist Maggie Schreiber. Their elemental craft has been brewing since April 2015, shaping the vision of a heavy celestial voyage through atmospheric sound connection.
The band's first offering was recorded live at Rocking Horse Studios, Byron Bay during Solstice December 2016, with George Carpenter at the recording and production helm and mastered by Brian Lucey of Magic Garden Mastering.
KING HEAVY's "Guardian Demons" reflects the most visceral edge of their first EP, "Horror Absoluto", and the sophisticated side of the self-titled debut but closer to traditional Heavy Metal and to the darkest Epic Doom.
"Once more, KING HEAVY showcase Chilean doom power on 'Guardian Demons', which is deeply rooted in 80s epic metal and characterized by Luce Vee's unique extroverted vocal style!"
Two years in the making, the album leads to the most classic sound of Trouble, Judas Priest melted with the sound of Northern Europe as Minotauri or Reverend Bizarre. Featuring HOODED PRIEST’s singer Luce Vee and founding PROCESSION member and ex-bassist Daniel Saa, the band will embark on an European tour in October 2018 performing at the Doom Over Vienna festival among others.
1. Guardian Demon (7:12)
2. (Death is but an extreme form of) Narcosis (6:58) 3. Doom Shall Rise (6:59)
THE RED COIL released the first three tracks Ep “Slough Off” in 2009. On April 2013, their debut album "Lam" came out including ten songs, recorded and mixed by Andrea Garavaglia (Mesmerize) and mastered by Jacob Bredahl (Hatesphere, Allhelluja) at Dead Rat Studio (Denmark). The album received very good feedback and positive reviews. The Red Coil played a lot of live shows in the north of Italy, very appreciated for their energy and raw attitude. In autumn 2015 the bass player Toni decided to left the band, when a lot of new songs was quite ready. The Red Coil announced the new bass player Gelindo in December 2015 and immediately started working and arranging the new material. The new album, "Himalayan Demons", is highly recommended to fans of Iron Monkey, Spiritual Beggars or Corrosion Of Conformity.
"THE RED COIL unleash the 'Himalayan Demons', serving a sludge-infested groovy southern metal/stoner bastard!" – Doom Metal Front
YOB, the Oregon-based trio released "Our Raw Heart", the band's eighth full-length album and Relapse Records debut.
"'Our Raw Heart' is digging deep turning hidden emotions inside out – it's the most possessive album YOB have ever been recording!" – Doom Metal Front
"We’re very excited to share this new music", says singer and guitar player Mike Scheidt. "We gave it everything we have. Going from an uncertain future in the beginning of 2017, to writing and then recording a new album at the end of it, it was quite a year. We're very grateful. We're looking forward to hitting the road again and celebrating decibels and good cheer with friends worldwide. Can't wait."

Sicily's HAUNTED drop second album called "Dayburner", which has been recorded by Carlo Longo at NuevArte Studio in Catania and mastered by the renowned producer Brad Boatright (Sleep, COC, Yob, Obituary, among others) at Audiosiege Engineering in Portland, Oregon.
Singer Cristina Chimirri comments: "When we started to develop the songwriting process of 'Dayburner', we wanted to talk about the course, the unexplored passage between the beginning and the end. Without necessarily imposing fixed points, but tracing a material circle and an anti-material ascensional progression.”
Bass player Frank Tudisco adds: "'Dayburner' is actually the representation of a day, not properly a day as we commonly know it, but something that become immediately night right after the first flashes of the sun. The light of this sun is too weak and can’t afford to challenge the strength of the darkness. Only thanks to minimal differences in tonal contrasts we are able to distinguish the sun from the moon. We can actually say that all the proper attributes of the day miserably fail here."
"HAUNTED is the Sicilian answer to grand female fronted bands like Windhand or Alunah. Find top quality, stoically rolling doom metal on 'Dayburner', which is filled to the brim with catchy guitar riffs and Cristina Chimirri's exceptionally soulful vocals!" – Doom Metal Front

"The All Penetrating Silence" by Norwegian band KITE is digitally released via Sludgelord Records. A vinyl release is also planned for the near future.
The band was originally formed in 1998, and went through different lineups until today's three‐piece got together in 2007. KITE released numerous DIY demos and EP's in the early years, while building up a following with frequent touring all over Scandinavia, but first and foremost Britain, where they pulled off 5 tours. In 2007, starting over with a fresh and heavier sound, their second album – "The Hook, The Line, The sinker" – was released on their own label 60/40 Records. Since then the band has been working on and off in between their other band projects, but 2018 sees KITE back at it full throttle, stronger and heavier than ever.
"KITE play non-standard sludge/post-metal, which is much too groovy and diverse to fit the common genre trademarks. 'The All Penetrating Silence' is an ultra-heavy riff monster, blues-soaked and as infinitely reverberating as the cosmological radiation." – Doom Metal Front
