Dentelle Fleurs by Gabrielle Lacasse covers fashion, beauty, lifestyle, interior design and much more. It is a place to share outfits, crushes and inspiration. Focused on photography, fashion and greater well-being, the website quickly found itself one of the most influential and important fashion blogs in Canada.
Polka dots- they come and go every other year or so. Sometimes I find them repulsive and sometimes I embrace the trend like there is no tomorrow. My wardrobe is now full or those little dots, in every form, shape and size.
On another topic, since I am now back to brunette, I enjoy playing a little bit more with my makeup. I used to be careful on what I was wearing on my eyelids and lips, since pink or red can easily be a little over the top when you are a blond. The barbie look is not something I ever aimed for, hence why I was shying away from colors. Still, now that I am darker, it is fun to experiment and try new things, like this copper shade from Maybelline. I know a lot of people are snobing Maybelline, but their eye palettes and eye shadows are always my favorites. Trust, they are good.

This year, I’ve decided that I wasn’t going to shoot outside and freeze my butt off whatsoever. I’ve been doing this blogging thing for a very long time and I remember going outside during cold times and just regretting having to shoot outfits. Removing my coat so that people could see what I was wearing underneath was the absolute worst part.
Now that I enjoy a flash photo and that my home look cool enough to be photographed, I prefer to shoot outfit posts inside and really show you guys what I wear, without compromising my health in the meantime. This one was shot in my bathroom- because was not? The tiles look pretty good next to the black jumpsuit, don’t you guys think?
I didn’t even realize this outfit was 100% Clueless inspired until someone pointed it out on my Instagram feed. I was highly influenced by Cher and the movie when I was younger and was particularly jealous of her wardrobe (remember, it was basically a dry cleaner system she had?).
Anyhow, if you feel like wearing this matching suit and Whitney t-shirt, you can shop it all below. You can, of course, wear the pieces separately afterwards, to make the most of what you have.
If you are Canadian and you do not have a coat obsession, you probably are a Canadian living abroad. The only way to celebrate winter (besides winter sports, obvi) is to create a wardrobe that makes it fun to have to freeze your ass off the minute you get outside of your comfortably heated apartment.
My favorite coat, prior to this one, was also a Coach. Lately, the designs of their outerwear has been outstanding and I would definitely own all of them if I had to money to do so. This one is 100% lamb, great for colder days, soft and welcoming. I will be wearing it until Spring, which hopefully will come very soon.
Montreal is one of the 3 biggest fashion city in North America in terms of confection and yet, I feel like we sometimes struggle to praise our city. I’ve always liked to give Montreal designers a help by featuring them here or on my Instagram without any fee, because I feel like we need to be able to recognize the talent we have and share that talent with the rest of the world.
This season, Montreal was really present in Project Show in Las Vegas. I usually attend the event with the blogger project but this time, I had the mission to showcase the Montreal brands that were on site. More than 60 brands had a booth at Magic. It was such a blessing to see these beautiful people hustling in Las Vegas. MMode really did a great job- they set up a special #mtlstyle booth right at the entrance of the tradeshow and they organized a great dinner where we were all able to connect with each other and share our vision of local fashion.
I myself learned a few things in the process of meeting all these brands. First of, I had no idea that some of the biggest Mtl brands were actually family businesses (thinking of Pajar). I also got to find the most comfortable pair of leggings I’ve ever worn (tested them in the plane), made in Montreal by Moov. I chatted with the owner of Yoga jeans and he shared that Montreal used to be the place to be for denim. If all of this was not priceless, then I don’t know what it was.
Hopefully the Montreal fashion industry will continue to grow and expand. We have such beautiful creators here and have much more to offer than just bagels and european vibes. Catch the #mtlstyle booth next time to head in Vegas for Project show and make sure grab a copy of the magazine they created for the occasion.
I am wearing a Sosken coat and a Marigold top- both brands were a part of this activation.
Jumping into the second part of my favorite Los Angeles spots (part 1 is here is ever). I am actually travelling there again next week so I might have a few to add to these when I get back, so stay tuned.
As in part one, I highly suggest you watch the video to see these places in movement/actions, but if you are a busy bee, here are the ones I visited in this second vlog.
Shooting range: Oaktree Gun Club. I liked this one since it was outside and the scenery was surprisingly pretty. Just make sure you don’t repeat my mistake and wear proper shoes.
New Zealand food: Aroha. I highly suggest you eat there, the food was so great and the view of the restaurant is to die for. The staff was also the friendliest.
Coffee and hangout: The Silverlake jonction. This is where I got the best Matcha croissant of all time.
Beach: Venice beach. I know, quite touristy, but it is worth it if you like the Ocean and skater boys.
Shopping: Go on Abbot Kinney, especially at the Piece collective. The selection is great and the place is super dreamy. Stop for ice cream if you can.
Fast food: In and out, nothing less.
Let me know if you have any other questions regarding Los Angeles or this video. If you like watching these, make sure you subscribe to my channel here.
Los Angeles has quickly become one of my favorite place to travel, take a little vacation or simply hang out. I know I’ve said this countless times, but the first time I visited the place, I didn’t enjoy it. I felt like everything was way too spread out, that you couldn’t just “discover” the city by walking and chilling around. Still, my friend told me to give it time and he was right. I now go back every year to soak up the energy and go back to freezing Montreal afterwards.
Since I’ve been to the city a few times now, people have started to ask me about my recommendations. Where it is that I like to eat in LA, go out or hang out. Since a video is worth more than text (in my opinion), I decided to vlog my latest trip there and share it here, with you guys.
Here are the places I visited/enjoyed in this video, in order of appearance. Take notes, because these restaurants/bars are unique, fun and non-touristy.
Brunch: Sage Vegan Bistro in Silverlake. Take the Acai bowl. You’re welcome.
Thrifting: Every thrift shop in Silverlake is gold. I also recommend the flea market on Sundays.
Dinner and drinks: Café Stella. I make sure I hop there every time I am in Los Angeles. Everyone there is stylish, looks like a model and works in film. Why? No idea. The food is a little expensive but really worth it.
Going out: Lock and keys. Eat the peanut butter and jelly sandwich and good luck going in (you have to find your way in by yourself).
Happy Hour: Kettle Black in Silverlake. Very cute place, great staff and cocktails are A1.
Korean Barbecue: Anywhere in KTOWN. Really.
I will be posting part 2 tomorrow with other recos from my recent trip. Let me know if you have any questions about these spots, and if you would like me to create a more detailed guide.
I’ve never really had a corporate job- neither looked for one. As I teacher, I was pretty much wearing whatever I wanted without caring what other teachers/my students would think. Ripped jeans, oversized knits, leather skirt and other things that no teacher really ever wears were part of my work wardrobe. I never really had the occasion to dress up in suits, which is probably why I am so obsessed with them now. I am a sucker for a great blazer or for a matching outfit. I guess if I was working in a cubicle from 9 to 5, and would probably want to cry all day everyday because I hate routine, I would give my all in my corporate outfit.
I might have been a little MIA here for the last few weeks. I took time for myself, went on a little trip without posting about it on social media and spent a whole lot of time with my family and friends during the Holidays. It was my first time taking some time off from creating content in 7 YEARS GUYS. Yep, that is a lot of time without any break from work. It was a good thing to do for my mental health, but I might say I struggled a bit to get back to it. Still, here I am now, ready to attack 2018.
I thrifted this top in Miami while I was on my little internet-free vacay and I love it so much. It fits perfectly. As for the bag, it is a Montreal brand called Partoem and their design is on point guys. Stalk them here.
Hope you guys all had a wonderful start of 2018. The important thing this year will be to take some time off for yourself and put yourself first xx
I haven’t created a full editorial in a while and I felt it was time to produce something fun for the blog. 2017 has been a year of experimentation in a sorts of shapes, like love, self-care, self-discovery, pushing limits, learning my own boundaries and experiencing with technology. I feel like this year has taught me so much. I am excited to move forward with a new project of mine and also learn new skills as I go. I started this year with absolutely noooo idea on how I wanted this platform to evolve and zero skills in video editing whatsoever. I am still learning and creating a plan to move forward, but wanted to celebrate this bittersweet year with a fun, full blown editorial, one that I wish I could produce every week for the rest of my blogging life.
Now back to New Years Eve. There is always so much pressure on what to wear to welcome a new year. You don’t want to look like you tried to hard (the french motto), but also don’t want to show up in jeans and a white tee. The key? Accessories properly, be comfortable and own what you wear. Below are 4 outfit ideas to get inspired from, or even for you to go buy right now, since all pieces are available right now at Winners. Yep, not kidding!
The statement piece
I love Winners since it is a mix of both of my favorite shopping habits: digging for treasure like when I am hunting for Vintage, but also finding some amazing designer pieces for less. What you can do is get a designer leopard coat like this one (I was inspired by Sheryl Crow in her video if it makes you happy) and mix it with more casual pieces. I also love the idea of the wide, silk trousers. More festive than normal trousers and a little more flattering than low rise jeans.
The Naked dress
If you have a over-the-top party or a dress-to-impress soirée, you might want to consider the naked dress as an option. Just make sure you don’t overdo the rest of the outfit (no fuss, no feathers) and that you wear nice underwear since everyone will be seeing them. I opted for some high waisted one for a more vintage-y vibe. You might want to throw in a bra as well if you plan on visiting your grand-mother for tea before the party.
The comfy one
I love the idea of wearing something suppperrrr comfortable, almost like a pjay, for New Years Eve. Anyways, you know that you will be running everywhere, maybe be a little tipsy, dance, so might as well do it in comfort. Just make sure you add a little texture and play with dimensions. This silk top and those pants, that were not meant to be put together by the way, are the perfect mix of cozy and chic.
The obvious with a twist
Oh, a sparkly dress for NYE, ground breaking. In all seriousness, you can still pull off that look by owning it to the max, in my very own opinion. If you want to sparkle, then let the rest of your outfit completely match with the mood. Silver coat, silver dress, silver shoes, let’s go all out. That way, people won’t be saying you are not dedicated when it comes to fashion. Or life.
