December 19, 2017 – March 21, 2020
July 2, 2020 – December 15, 2020
No matter which sign of the zodiac claims you as its own, or what your chart is like for that matter, how you experience this Saturn cycle on a personal level depends largely on what you’ve been doing up until now.
For example, if your sign is highly favored by Saturn’s transit through Capricorn but you’ve done very little to further your goals, this transit won’t be handing out any big rewards. However, it will give you have the opportunity to make up for lost ground if you’re willing to work for it.
In contrast, if your sign isn’t one of the favored ones but you’ve been diligently working towards a goal, this transit can help propel you further by providing opportunities for growth (in the form of hard work) or by revealing the flaws in your plan (so you can correct them).
Saturn is about taking responsibility, and the truth is that no matter how wonderful or how burdensome any transit may be to your chart, it’s your own free will that decides what you make of it.
So now that you and Saturn understand each other, let’s take a peek at how each sign is likely to fare while the celestial taskmaster makes its way through Capricorn.
If you’re born under Taurus or Virgo, you can make great strides now. Your goals may be within reach, and/or a significant opportunity may present itself with little effort on your part. While others may view it as a lucky gift from the Universe, the truth is it’s the result of your past efforts. Don’t let feelings of satisfaction hold you back. This is a fortunate cycle that won’t be back anytime soon so be sure to make the most of it.
Who Gets Tested
If you’re born under Aries or Libra, expect a challenge that will test you in some way. If you’re on the wrong path, you’ll experience serious setbacks. If so, it may be time to pivot and/or cut your losses. However, if you’re on the right path, this challenge may serve as a catalyst that propels you to success.
Who Gets Put on the Spot
If you’re born under Cancer, you’re likely to feel restricted in at least one area of your life. This cycle is meant for reassessment, and it’s possible that you may need to release something or someone from your life. If so, cut your losses, assess the damage and start planning your comeback.
Who Skates by
If you’re born under Pisces or Scorpio, this period can be ripe with opportunities but you’ll need to seek them out and develop them. If you do nothing, you won’t suffer any ill effects during this transit, but since every Saturn cycle has a direct bearing on future ones, it’s best to give it your all.
Who Needs to Adjust
If you’re born under Gemini or Leo, you’re likely to experience a situation in some area of your life that makes you feel like you’re between a rock and a hard place. Is there a way out? Of course, but it’s going to require an adjustment that may feel a bit uncomfortable for you.
Who Gets a Free Pass
If you’re born under Sagittarius or Aquarius, you won’t be on Saturn’s radar. For Archers, it’s a welcome respite after being in Saturn’s sights the past few years, and for Water Bearers, it’s the last hurrah before Saturn turns its attention on you.
Who Gets a Second Chance
If you’re born under Capricorn, you’re wrapping up a cycle and depending on your past performance, this period will be a time of achievement or a time of disappointment.
Whatever is sound in your life will continue to go smoothy, but it will require considerable effort and persistence to achieve your goals. However, if you keep your eye on the prize and continue moving towards it, you’ll ultimately bring home the win.
In contrast, whatever isn’t sound will likely collapse. If you experience a personal and/or professional defeat, it’s critical that you understand what went wrong before you attempt to regroup. Otherwise, you’ll invest your time, energy and resources in yet another losing proposition.
Whether you rise or fall during this cycle, one thing is for certain: When this cycle ends, a new one begins and with new beginnings come second chances. If you experienced this period as a time of achievement, you get a second chance to prove your worth, and if you experienced it as a time of disappointment, you get a second chance to get it right.

After weeks of feeling depleted while Cancer, Mars was more than happy to exit the sign of its fall and enter the fiery, passionate and dramatic sign of Leo.
As he sauntered into the Lion’s den, Mars could feel his confidence return, his courage increase and his passion begin to burn. He also felt an enormous sense of pride and entitlement, and as he took a seat upon Leo’s throne, his ego swelled, his vanity escalated and a drama king was born.
While Mars is in Leo, he seeks the spotlight and wants to hear the sound of applause. He also tends to take everything personally and is quick to lash out in righteous indignation against anyone who disagrees, criticizes or opposes him. That’s why while Mars is in Leo, he can be an impatient bully who, when challenged, is at best combative and at worst, a tyrant.
Fortunately for Mars (and everyone else), while in Leo his heart expands as well, along with his magnanimous and fun-loving nature, creative abilities and passion for life. When he chooses to channel his ambition through these outlets, he achieves dazzling success in the arts, builds empires, spearheads noble causes and donates generously to those less fortunate. At his best, Mars in Leo is the planetary embodiment of joie de vivre.
Depending upon the circumstances, Mars in Leo may be a dictator or a benefactor, but whether he’s presiding over a reign of terror or a peaceable kingdom, the one thing he’ll never do is back down.
Mars will be in Leo from July 20 – September 5, 2017.
You begin your solar year bolstered by Saturn in Sagittarius, and while you can expect its loyal support for months to come, once it moves into Capricorn on December 19, its relationship with you will change from encouraging friend to demanding taskmaster.
From December 19, 2017 through December 16, 2020, Saturn will eventually hold each one of you accountable for your past actions; and when it does, some will rise, some will soar and some will fall. If you’ve been slacking off, you still have roughly nine months left to get it together; and if you get started now, the powerful energy of the upcoming Leo solar eclipse on August 21 may help you slide safely into home base.
Meanwhile, those of you born with the Sun at 16°- 21° Aries will become personally acquainted with Pluto as it targets your Sun. For some, this will be a continuation of the transformative journey you began last year; for others it will mark will the end of it and for some of you, it will be just the beginning. Although the specific circumstances surrounding your transformation will depend on your personal horoscope, this cycle will ultimately bring an irrevocable ending in some area of your life.
As Uranus continues its transit through the sign of the Ram, those of you born with the Sun at 22°- 29° degrees of Aries will experience a Uranus conjunction to your Sun. If you were born during the last 3 days of Aries, this will be your first taste of this powerfully liberating energy that can inspire you to make immediate perhaps even shocking changes in your life. While such changes could be just what the doctor ordered, it’s just as possible that they might be too extreme. You’ll do well to think long and hard before you burn bridges or take any other drastic action at this time. It’s important to note that this influence can also be a very narcissistic energy, so if your friends or loved ones accuse you of being selfish during this time, they may be on to something.
Everyone born under Aries will do well to take advantage of Jupiter in Libra’s blessings while it’s in your solar seventh house of relationships. From now until October 10, use Jupiter’s influence to attract partners, clients and overall helpful people into your life.
Jupiter’s entry into Scorpio on October 10 a bit of a mixed blessing for your sign. Although the aspect (a quincunx) it forms with your Sun creates an awkward relationship, the fact that your ruler Mars kept Pluto’s throne warm for him goes a long way to smooth things over during Jupiter’s year-long transit through the underworld.
While in Scorpio, Jupiter will travel through your solar 8th house of other people’s resources. On the upside, this transit can be helpful if you’re applying for a loan or mortgage, as well as for financial aid, scholarships or grants. While it’s true that Jupiter transiting the 8th could help bring a large financial windfall through a lottery or an inheritance, there would need to be other simultaneous energies supporting such an outcome. On the downside, the 8th house is the house of debt, and by the time Jupiter leaves some of you may have considerably more debt than when you started. Whether it’s good debt or bad debt will depend upon you and your free will. Now, it’s also possible that some of you may release a debt during this time, but again, whether you do so by paying it off with cash or discharging it in a bankruptcy will depend upon your personal situation.
Finally, the upcoming solar and lunar eclipses that will take place in Aquarius (lunar eclipse) and Leo (total solar eclipse) in August 2017, as well as in January 2018 (lunar eclipse in Leo) and February 2018 (solar eclipse in Aquarius) will activate your solar 5th and 11th houses. As a result, some of you will experience exciting new beginnings and/or endings (which can be a happy one by the way!) connected to romance, children, creativity, social activities, casual friends and group relationships, as well as a dream or two!

Representing the God of War, Mars is one macho planet.
However, according to astrological theory, whenever he’s in the feminine, sensual and self-indulgent sign of Taurus, he’s reduced to a weakened state not unlike that of Samson after losing his locks to the wily temptress Delilah.
Personally, I don’t buy it.
While it’s true that Mars loses some of his aggression as he enjoys the sensory experiences available to him in Taurus, he’s far from depleted. In fact, the fixed energy of the Bull gives him patience, endurance and a desire for wealth. He’s also not lazy. Although his ambition does come down a few notches while in Taurus, he’s still a pioneer at heart. However, his energy is redirected. In Aries, he reveled in physical competitions; in Taurus he prizes material acquisitions.
Reliable, fiscally responsible and blessed with a financial acumen that’s second to none, Taurus is the most productive sign in the zodiac; and when it’s spiked with Mars ambition, it’s the perfect recipe for a cosmic tycoon.
That’s why those who are born with this natal placement often achieve significant success in the material world. For example, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Jessica Alba, Mick Jagger and Robert DeNiro are just a few Mars in Taurus individuals who created financial empires.
While Mars is in Taurus, his primary goal is wealth building. As for the Bull’s sensual delights, they’re just gravy.
Mars will be in Taurus from March 9 – April 21, 2017
New Moon in Aquarius:
A Flag is Seen
Turning into an Eagle
When I sat down to write about the January 27th Aquarius new moon, something about it seemed familiar. I couldn’t place it, but I felt as though I had seen this chart before.
As I examined the planetary activity in the chart, I was struck by the lack of aspects to this new moon. Were it not for an out-of-sign sextile from Mars, it would exist in its own little planetary duet and be isolated from the rest of the chart.
Since it wasn’t giving me much to write about from an aspect point of view, I decided to look up the meaning of the Sabian symbol for 8°15′ Aquarius. It said:
A flag is seen turning into an eagle.
And then it hit me. The reason this chart looked familiar is because the house overlay (the house cusps) of this chart are virtually identical to Donald Trump’s natal chart. Like most astrologers, I spent a lot of time studying his chart last year. However, unlike most of them I never predicted a Trump loss, because since 2014 (that’s right, 2014) I had been predicting that Hillary Clinton would not be president.
So what does this chart mean? To me, it validates my belief that certain circumstances are promised (predestined) in the natal chart. Whether or not that promise is fulfilled depends on the free will of the individual.
Looking at Trump’s chart, the new moon falls in his sixth house of service as he begins his new work as a civil servant. While you may interpret it differently, I feel this Sabian symbol reflects the spirit of the message he conveyed in his inaugural speech.
When I think of the promise of a new moon in Aquarius, themes of fellowship, brotherhood and humanity immediately come to my optimistic mind. However, themes of rebellion also belong to Aquarius, and given the virtually unsupported position of this new moon, the protests won’t be ending any time soon.

Emotionally waterlogged from being immersed in sea of tranquility while in Pisces, Mars knew that if he remained he would be condemned to spend the rest of his life as a sensitive man. Unwilling to accept such a fate, with sword in hand he bid a brusque farewell to the Fish and marched straight into Aries where he received a hero’s welcome.
From the moment he crossed into the sign of his dignity, Mars felt his energy return; and with every step he felt stronger, braver and more confident. Mars is an ambitious, ego-driven planet, and while in Aries he distinguishes himself through personal achievements and craves public recognition for them. To ensure a steady stream of praise, Mars in Aries never rests on his laurels. As the planet of action, he does more than live up to the zodiac’s expectation’s; he exceeds them.
As the planetary ruler of war and violence, Mars is at home on the battlefield, as well as emergency rooms and any life and death situation. In Aries, Mars is quick thinking, fast-acting and courageous to a fault, which is why he’s often found leading the troops, chasing bad guys, fighting fires, giving CPR, conducting search and rescue missions and performing random acts of heroism.
While leadership and heroism are sterling qualities, Mars in Aries also has his share of traits that have room for improvement. While it’s true that his quick-thinking has often saved the day, it’s also been known to create chaos if he overreacts and jumps to an incorrect conclusion. And then there’s his legendary temper. While it’s true that he gets over his anger quickly, the same can’t always be said for those on the receiving end of his angry, and typically unfiltered, outbursts. Fortunately, at some point in time Mars in Aries begins to mature, and over time, he starts to mellow.
Although there’s a side of Mars that’s tempted to remain in Aries, his pioneering spirit refuses to let him settle there. For Mars, life is a series of adventures, and any day he can boldly go where no one has gone before is destined to be a great one.
As Neptune moves forward, the fog that once protected us will burn off, your ego will be exposed, and you’ll find yourself forced to exist in the glaring light of day. Disoriented, vulnerable and with no place to hide, the initial reaction of your ego is to protect itself by employing the only defense it knows: deception.
The choices you made during that time will determine how you’ll experience its influence now that it’s direct.
If you allowed your soul to lead the way, it will soothe your ego, and you’ll come we will come to experience Neptune in its highest form as you pursue ideals that are aligned with your divine path.
However, if your allowed your ego to lead the way, you’ll come to experience Neptune in its lowest form and view some aspect of your life through a veil of confusion, illusion and delusion. Should that be the case, all is not lost. It simply means you have more to learn, which is the reason you’re here in the first place.
After scaling the mountain of success while Capricorn, Mars stood upon its peak. Taking in the view, he felt proud of all he accomplished in the business world, but knew it was time to hand in his resignation and move on to a new venture. Tossing his suits and ties into the nearest Goodwill bin, he bid farewell to conformity and crossed into the sign of the rebel: Aquarius.
When the planet of war is in the sign of freethinkers, humanitarianism, political bodies and good old fashioned protests, he rallies to the cause and leads the charge. Draped in the rebel’s clothes, Mars fights for what he believes, and the fixed nature of Aquarius adds fortitude (or stubbornness depending upon your view). When Mars is in Aquarius, he holds his ground until he wins, and if he doesn’t, he goes down fighting.
Although Aquarius enjoys its well-earned reputation as the zodiac’s anarchist, the Water Bearer is also its resident genius. Since Mars is an ego-driven planet, while he’s in the sign of brilliance he’s driven to distinguish himself on an intellectual level; ideally, with innovative ideas that are rooted in unorthodox methods.
During this time, some of you will get in touch with your inner rebel while others will channel their inner genius. Either way, you can thank Mars in Aquarius for your newfound inspiration.
Mars is in Aquarius from November 8 – December 18, 2016
This month’s powerful Scorpio new moon is the perfect antidote for the toxic energies that were introduced by September’s explosive eclipses and reinforced by October’s angry full moon.
Like all new moons, this one invites you to set intentions, plant seeds and initiate new actions; and just like every Scorpio new moon, it’s saturated in transformational energy that promotes renewal. So what makes this new moon so special? Not a single planet is challenging it. This means that its transformative energy isn’t being diminished by stressful connections and is completely supported.
In addition to supporting intentions for something new, the energy of the Scorpio new moon is especially helpful for planting seeds for change. As it happens, this new moon embraces Mercury (thoughts) and creates a planetary trio (sun, moon, mercury) that will help you clarify what you want to change and, more important, what you need to change. Even better, this planetary trio and Neptune (psychic, transcendence) are engaged in a flow of positive energy that inspires understanding through intuitive ideas and messages. Drenched in Scorpio’s transformational energy, the insights you receive at this time are seeds for deep and lasting change that can lead to renewal in some area of your life.
There are two caveats for this new moon.
1. Whether it’s wearing a full moon or a new moon, Scorpio frequently demands that we release something. Full moons coincide with endings, so it makes sense to let something go at that time. This is a new moon, but whenever Scorpio is involved, so is transformation and/or rebirth. In order to be transformed or reborn, something has to die. So while a Scorpio new moon is about initiation, if there’s anything that needs to be transformed or reborn in your life, you may experience some type of ending as well.
2. You must consciously tap into this energy. Why? Because when all of the aspects (planetary connections) to the new moon are flowing as they are here, there’s an ease to to the energy that promotes harmony but not motivation. Without a hard energy activating it, the positive energy will just sit there (so to speak) and feel good. Since there’s no hard energy to do the job, you need to be the match that ignites this positive energy on your behalf.
So which life areas are being targeted for renewal in your life? They’re revealed by the horoscope house that’s hosting this new moon in your chart. If you’re not familiar with your natal chart, you can learn which house holds the new moon in your solar chart (this is Sun-sign based astrology) by locating your Sun sign in the list below.
If your Sun Sign is:
Aries, the new moon falls in your solar 8th house of intimacy, other people’s money and support, jointly-held assets and transformation. Taurus, the new moon falls in your solar 7th house of lawsuits and one-to-one relationships. Gemini, the new moon falls in your solar 6th house of work, health, service and pets. Cancer, the new moon falls in your solar 5th house of romance, children, creativity
Leo, the new moon falls in your solar 4th house of home, family, real estate, parents and intuition. Virgo, the new moon falls in your solar 3rd house of siblings, short trips, transportation and all types of communications. Libra, the new moon falls in your solar 2nd house of money, income, values and self-worth. Scorpio, the new moon falls in your solar 1st house – it’s all about you, including your approach to life and physical appearance. Sagittarius, the new moon falls in your solar 12th house of solitude, secrets, past lives, healing and psychic abilities. Capricorn, the new moon falls in your solar 11th house of goals, casual friends, colleagues and group relationships. Aquarius, the new moon falls in your solar 10th house of career, status and fame. Pisces, the new moon falls in your solar 9th house of foreign travel, higher education, legal matters and publishing.
Manifesting with the Scorpio New Moon
You can set any intention under any new moon but when it’s in Scorpio, it favors:
Actions, intentions and affirmations for new beginnings, renewal or lasting changes associated with sexual intimacy, physical healing/regeneration, psychological transformation, psychic development, loans, grants, scholarships, inheritance, estate and tax matters, mortgages, money that’s owed you, income from franchises or intellectual property.
This lunar energy also supports intentions to find tax specialists, estate planners, researchers, pension specialists, investigators, estate planners, insurance experts, debt counselors, psychoanalysts, psychics, funeral directors and mortgage brokers.

The Sun has moved into Scorpio, which means it’s time to wish those of you born under this magnetic, mysterious and fiercely determined sign a very Happy Birthday. To help celebrate your special day, here’s a peek at what the coming solar year has in store for you!
On October 11, 2017, Jupiter will enter Scorpio and begin a year-long goodwill tour through your solar first house of personal opportunities as it makes its way towards your Sun. Why am I talking about something that’s almost an entire year away? Because your coming solar year is one of transition and preparation, and what you do (or don’t do) during the next 12 months will have a big impact on 2018.
Now, that’s not to say you won’t make any progress in 2017 (you will), but the fact of the matter is that 2017 is a bridge to a year that promises success for those who are prepared for it. That’s why I want you to give serious consideration to the ways you’d like to see your life expand and the type of opportunities you need to attract to make it happen.
A few years back, you had the weight of Saturn on your Sun. Some of you felt defeated and had to start over, and some of you gained clarity and moved forward, but ALL of you had to work hard. Now it’s time for some of that work to pay off.
With Neptune inspiring your Sun, it’s time to envision the life you want to live, and with Jupiter expanding opportunities from behind the scenes in your 12th house, it’s time to quietly lay the groundwork to help make it happen. I say “quietly” because it’s important that you don’t share your plans with everyone. (Most Scorpios don’t but if there’s a strong Libra or Sagittarius influence in your chart, you may tend to spill the beans). Why? Because if you bring 12th house plans out into the light of day, the energy tends to dissolve. That’s why it’s important to share your vision on a strictly need to know basis until Jupiter enters Scorpio. Once it enters Scorpio and moves into your solar first house (you!), the plans you made while it was in the 12th will come to life and start to blossom under its expansive energy.
Speaking of Jupiter, just a few months after it moves into your sign, life will get even sweeter. On December 20, the universe will hear a collective sign of relief from Scorpions everywhere as Saturn leaves your money sector. Until then, use this Saturn cycle to trim expenses, organize your finances and define your personal values. Determining who and what matters the most to you will fine-tune your vision and increase your power to attract it, while releasing what and who doesn’t creates the void to accept it.
If you use the energy of your coming solar year to get your ducks in a row, you’ll be ready to make the most of everything that Jupiter brings your way!
