It is really getting busy out there! Usually, I order most of my gifts online, but this may change for this year. I really do have enough even in terms of decorations for the home. It is always nice though to pick up a few housewarming gifts for friends when visiting. Here is a round-up of a few gifts that are super festive for the holiday season ( hoping that they will arrive on time ).
Modern farmhouse, millennial pink, and the ever so popular fiddle-leaf fig tree dominated the design world. Trends come and go and ultimately your home should reflect your personality and lifestyle. Adding trendy colours in the form of accessories, textiles or lighting works best. Here are some trends to watch for in 2019.
Matte Black-This can be in the form of hardware, paint, textiles or lighting.
Quality/Sustainability-This is not so much a trend as it is more of a lifestyle choice. Investing in good quality furniture pieces is always smart. Custom furniture pieces made locally is a great option. Quality furniture pieces can last a lifetime.
Less Is More-Clean lines and openness is still and will continue to be desirable. An open concept floor plan is still very popular. Open shelving is still gaining popularity, especially in the kitchen. It fits the lifestyle of less is more. It also creates an open, clean aesthetic for the kitchen.
Bringing The Outdoors In-Builders are creating floor plans with higher ceilings creating larger windows but also allowing for more windows as well.
Oh, my word I see fall decor everywhere! Summer is not officially over but with school around the corner, it feels like it.
I am wrapping this month off with a few great photos of a colour consult and dining room redesign. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams colours were both used. Sherwin Williams has some fantastic blues to choose from but Benjamin Moore is superb paint.
For the master bedroom, the clients decided on a wood plank accent wall and did it themselves. It looks great. The paint colour we chose looks great I think too!
The dining room looks much better with a flat ceiling and the paint on the ceiling gives this room a pop of colour. The home looks really bright and very pretty. I love working with blues.
Sherwin Williams has their forecast for 2019 and the paint colours selected are beautiful! With 42 colours to choose from, there is a paint colour for every style and mood. The paint colours are divided into six “colour personalities” called Shapeshifter, Wanderer, Aficionado, Enthusiast, Naturalist and Raconteur. Have a look!
