A few months ago, I asked you guys on Instagram if there was a brand you would like to see featured on this blog for the second part of 2019. Some of you told me about Colieco lingerie, a brand I wanted to try myself for a long time. Thanks to your responses, I was shortly contacted by the brand who kindly offered to send me a custom bodysuit. So here we are today, with some gorgeous shots taken by Romana, the Guadeloupean photographer behind Blxck Dread Shot. I really loved working with her. I am always happy to work with women creatives whenever it’s possible!
[ I received this bodysuit as a gift from Colieco lingerie. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Photo credit: Romana @blxckdreadshots] Colieco lingerie Kelly bodysuit was a piece I had my eyes on since I discovered this brand. To be honest, I have been hesitating on buying it because I wasn’t sure what size to pick or if it would work for my busty self. However, I needn’t worry as the bodysuit I received was perfectly custom made to my measurements. First of all, the package arrived in Canada from Portugal very fast in a small branded box. When I took it out of the box, I was surprised by its length as most of the bodysuits I own look a bit shorter. However, as soon as I put it on, I was delighted by the level of comfort and the fit of this piece.
Fit and construction
Colieco lingerie Kelly bodysuit comes in a traditional size range as well. If you don’t need to go custom, the piece is available from XS to XL. The jersey part is also customizable. There are 16 different prints to choose from when placing your order. I picked number 4 and I am very happy with my choice. I really love this red print as it’s very flattering on my skin tone and would probably work for a lot of people. It’s warm and just lovely. The thing that really attracted me when I first saw the Kelly bodysuit was the under-bust straps. I was curious to know if they would provide some support and shape to the bust.
I have to say that they don’t really sit under my breasts. I think that the breasts support I get from this piece is due to the pattern and skills of the designer. The straps are more decorative than supportive. Another thing I noticed is that the power mesh used in this piece is rather firm, but also more opaque than it looks on the website. I personally like it this way, although I don’t mind transparency. The triangle shape of the cup is flattering and surprisingly practical. My breasts don’t try to escape from it and I even took a nap in this bodysuit. The Kelly bodysuit features fully adjustable straps and the back is closed by a hook. Since it was made to my measurements, I don’t feel the need to tighten or loosen it. It just fits great. I am really happy with this open back and the fact that it’s not a traditional bra closure. If I ever felt like wearing it as outerwear it would be nice to show off the back.
I like the coverage of the lower part of this piece. It’s not too wide nor too narrow. This is a really comfortable bodysuit. Note that all Colieco lingerie designs can be customized as swimwear!
An ethical lingerie brand
I discovered Colieco lingerie when I started being interested in slow fashion. Their products are ethically made in Portugal. The brand designer is often discussing ethical fashion on their Instagram story. I also appreciate that they share a part of the making process with their customers/followers.
“We source most of our material and all of our elastic from small, family-run businesses, and work with independent suppliers wherever we can, including in design, printing and photography.” – Colieco lingerie
This brand is working as ethically as possible, keeping in mind all the workers involved in the process of making their products but also the environment. Very often we forget that ethical fashion is a very wide subject. It’s not only about paying people a fair wage or produce locally but also the fabric used to create the garment, the cost for the planet. Colieco lingerie is minimizing water waste, fabric waste and use fabric that has a low carbon footprint.
I think this company is doing a beautiful job and I am happy to support them by spreading the word! I hope you enjoyed these shots. I am so happy with them honestly. <3
So I am trying to keep things interesting on this platform. I think bra reviews are sweet but really they can be pretty repetitive. I want to show you that there is much more to the lingerie industry. When I started my lingerie as outerwear series last year, I thought I would just do a handful of posts but now I am addicted and I just need to do more.
[ This babydoll has been gifted to me by Fleur of England. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links. Photo credit: Daynis Zed.] I have a rather classic style and if you pay attention, my color palette is basically black, beige/white and dusty pink. In winter I wear grey and navy as well. No, I am not too adventurous. Ahah! This even sounds a little boring now that I am writing it down. But somehow I am pretty satisfied with my wardrobe. It’s simple, I don’t need to think too much about what I am going to wear on a daily basis. Everything is also very easy to match and never really goes out of fashion. I am just trying my best to not give into fast fashion while being as fashionable as I can.
The Desert rose silk babydoll
Today’s outfit is perfect for a classy Spring/Summer vibe. The Desert rose silk babydoll is really one of my favorite silk items in my wardrobe, mostly because the color is so me. Now my only issue with silk is that it wrinkles so fast! And it’s actually difficult to iron these creases because you need to set a very low temperature to avoid damaging the fabric. The editing of this picture highlights those creases as I believe they weren’t as visible in real life. To be honest, I really need a new strapless bra. I hope I can buy an unpadded one this Summer because the one I am wearing in this picture is the Empreinte Melody, which is a bit bulky for this particular outfit. Plus it features lace, and that shows a little under the slip. Anyway, I wasn’t about to let this prevent me from featuring this outfit. I don’t know what you guys think about it but I love it. While I am still not the best at modeling actual outfits, these photos are really showing the details of the piece.
I am wearing a size Medium in this piece and I believe it’s the right size for me. If I have the opportunity, I would like to photograph it as nightwear too.
Construction and quality
I can tell that this piece is of very good quality. The silk is almost pure (90%) and feels a bit heavier than my other silk loungewear pieces. The finishes are very neat. The French seams at the top of the garment look very elegant and show that this item production was not rushed. There is no raw seam in this garment which I appreciate, but then again, this is not the kind of seams you should expect in luxury pieces. I love that this piece features seams around the bust area. Very often slips with no bust support don’t really flatter my braless bust as they don’t have enough space for it. These seams help to “shape” the bust area just slightly. While they don’t give any real support, they follow the curve of my breast in a way that is visually pleasing to me. I really enjoy the guipure detailing at the back of the Desert Rose silk slip. This embroidery is so light and delicate. It’s impossible to wear any bra strap with such a piece actually. It would ruin the effect of this extremely thin straps. As a full-busted woman, I am not used to wearing clothes with very thin straps so it definitely feels different.
Putting the outfit together
You won’t be surprised to read that my skirt comes from an old Frank and Oak women collection. It’s made of Tencel and I love that it highlights my waist a little. I adore paper bag pants and skirt. I almost bought a pair of shorts this season. High-waisted bottoms have my preference. This one has a nice length because I can easily wear stockings during the colder seasons. The shoes are from Steve Madden and I bought them for my bachelor graduation two years ago. Not the most practical but definitely a good match with most of my wardrobe.
Overall, I really enjoyed styling and shooting this outfit. I hope you like it too!
The Desert Rose collection is really romantic and I wish I could wear the full lingerie set. The brand let me know that they are coming soon with full bust sizes though. I can’t wait to see what kind of treasures they’ll bring to the table next year.
It’s been a while since I have reviewed a corset! I have always wanted to try a waist cincher, and I actually love a shorter corset as it is very practical for everyday wear.
I was gifted the Glamorous corset Bella a long time ago, and today I finally found the time to review this piece.
[ I received this corset as a gift from Glamorous corset. All thoughts and opinions are my own.]
The Glamorous corset Bella is my first polyester satin corset. The first thing I noticed when I put it out of its cute branded velvet pouch was that it was shinier than my silk corset. I like this glossy effect. It works well with light and thin material such as lace.
Bella is a classic short 8” underbust corset. This piece features 16 Steel Bones (4 rigid steel bones, 12 spiral steel bones), a steel busk and a wide modesty panel. I know not every corset comes with a modesty panel but I think it’s much better when they do.
This type of corset is great for people with short torso actually. I also think you should give it a try if you can’t stand longer corsets for comfort-related reasons.
I received a 20″ corset instead of my usual 18″. In fact, this corset doesn’t go as high on my rib cage and as low on my hips as the Lara corset from the same brand.
Because of that, there is no need for a smaller size.
When I first put this corset on, I felt like it wouldn’t need much seasoning. After a few wears ( three, if I remember properly), I was already quite comfortable wearing it the way it is in these pictures. This corset doesn’t seem fragile, I am not scared of damaging it when I put it on. I have to say that it feels good to wear a corset that isn’t too restrictive or fragile. I am quite active during the day lately and I need to move rather freely.
The seams are neat and the finished product is worth the 74 USD in my opinion ( though it’s currently on sale for 69 USD). This is a very affordable price for a corset.
I think Glamorous Corset is a great company for those of you who want to start wearing corsets but aren’t sure where to start or can’t afford the luxury options. Their corsets are affordable and reliable. I now have three of them and although the Lara cotton took a long time to become comfortable, they all are great basics in my corset wardrobe.
Another day, another lingerie adventure! I have to say that this post’s publication has been extremely delayed. Still, I think you guys need to know about Collange lingerie. It’s one of the most gorgeous lingerie boutiques in Montreal. When I discovered it, I felt like I was in a lingerie paradise.
[I am not affiliated to Collange lingerie. All thoughts and opinions are my own.]
Located in Westmount, this boutique is also one of the biggest I have seen so far, in Canada. From the windows to the back of the store, everything is carefully thought-out to look luxurious and well-organized.
The first thing that caught my attention when I arrived at the store was the beautiful mannequins modeling luxury loungewear behind the windows. The styling of the store is very tasteful. I forgot to take a picture but you’ll even see some lingerie and fashion-focused books in the store! Not for sale, but still great to see! The lingerie is organized by color which is actually very neat and lovely. You’ll find fashion brands that are unavailable anywhere else in the province. Andrés Sardá, La Perla, Lejaby, Chantal Thomass to name a few.
I wouldn’t call Collange a full-bust lingerie boutique. While they stock Empreinte, most of the other brands available offer core size ranges. There is always a possibility to make an order if a brand offers a size that isn’t available in store, under certain conditions. My favorite thing about this store is the amount of luxury loungewear they carry. Usually, in Montreal boutiques, loungewear seems to be focused on comfort rather than aesthetic. Most boutiques will sell cotton pajamas and nighties. Collange lingerie boutique offer a wide selection of silk nightwear especially from Canadian brand Christine lingerie, but also some European brands. This is perfect for Canadian lingerie addicts who don’t want to deal with shipping or customs duties. They also sell some luxury swimwear and footwear. Honestly, I wish they had more full-bust options but their selection is amazing and I know not every store can do it.
Empreinte is a good starting point anyway if you are looking for fit, quality and beautiful designs. However in Canada these bras retail for 200$+ taxes, so it is an investment. To be honest, in this part of the country you will mostly find Empreinte and Primadonna if you are looking for full bust bras. A few places are selling British bras but it is very rare to find a bra bigger than an F cup. A lot of stores technically stop at a G cup but the options are limited. I might have said it before but one of the advantages of shopping European lingerie in Montreal is that you can find some nice discontinued styles. (See the Empreinte Pompadour bra, that I reviewed here). Collange is especially great when it comes to fashion lingerie. It’s clear that their customer base appreciates rare luxury pieces and original designs.
Hey lingerie lovers! I am back with another lingerie-as-outerwear piece and it’s one I have been excited about for a while. I am a sucker for Earth tones. My wardrobe is mostly black but warm beige and ochre always have a place with me. I just love the “nude” effect on my skin tone. Moreover, these colors work well as basic but can also easily be elevated.
[All the items in this article were purchased with my own money under my real name. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links. Photo credit : Daynis Zed ]This article revolves around the gorgeous Bordelle Orbit bra which I was lucky enough to find during Journelle big Spring Cleaning sale a few months ago. This bra retails for 403USD at full price but was on sample sale for 62USD + shipping at the time. Although I had doubts about sizing, I ended up buying a size L (the biggest size available).
I received the piece very quickly and honestly, couldn’t be happier with it.
Layering a harness bra
The Bordelle Orbit Bra is very adjustable, so you can definitely play with the cup and back size a little. I did try it as a regular bra but there was a shape incompatibility with my breasts, unfortunately. I think I am too full on side for this piece, as the side panels are clearly made to push the breasts to the center. However, worn over a top, everything falls perfectly into place. For these photos I decided to wear the Empreinte Cassiopée spacer bra which did a perfect job at being smooth under my top. So yes, I am wearing 2 bras. Ahaha! But to be honest the Cassiopée is so light and comfy that it really didn’t bother me.
The Bordelle Orbit bra has a very futuristic look and I am so happy with the way it frames my breasts.
[ The two above pictures were edited by me]
I am not going to lie, it did get a lot of attention, and I am surprised by how comfortable people have been looking at my breasts that day. But can I really blame them? It’s a rather unusual outfit for the calm streets of the old Montreal.
As you can see, this bra closes with a zipper. This is relatively practical if you are able to pass the back straps through your head. These straps are linked by a hook but I never undo it.
The 24K hardware is beautiful and I believe this bra is even better in person than in photos. At this price, I believe it didn’t meet the brand’s standards but since it’s my very first Bordelle item, I do not get to understand why such a huge price difference.
A classic outfit
The clothes I am wearing are from Frank and Oak, as often. This T-shirt is made of organic cotton and I really like this warm maroon colorway. I believe it is on sale right now. The Tencel pants are from last year and have been featured in my very first lingerie-as-outerwear post. After a year, they are holding up quite well. The size I am wearing is a US 4.
I love this pair because I can wear it with so many different tops and I always get either an elegant look or something more casual but always structured. The purse is from Fossil and it’s basically my go-to bag at the moment because it’s so small and easy to match with everyday outfits. This might not be interesting but my shoes are from Aldo. Most sandals have a wide fit in comparison to my feet so I am glad I found these ones.
It was my first time shooting with Daynis, so I wasn’t feeling too confident in my posing that day ahah! Always need to warm up a bit. But I hope you enjoy the pictures and we’ll probably be back with a few more outfit posts this summer. In the meantime, let me know your thoughts!
Summer is finally showing up in Montreal, so I think this post is quite appropriate. I am a bit tired of reviews, to be honest, so it was time to do something different.
I reviewed the Empreinte Ashley collection a few months ago but I thought this top could definitely work outside the bedroom. If you don’t mind the sheerness and minimal bust coverage, this piece is quite easy to style.
[ I received this top as a gift from Empreinte lingerie. All thoughts and opinions are my own.] The Ashley top is part of Empreinte 2018-2019 holiday collection and now comes in a white colorway called “Jardin d’été” (Summer garden) for SS19. What truly “sold” this top for me, was the amazing waxed embroidery at the back.
Very often, I fall in love with a lace pattern or embroidery and I feel like I need more of it. I need it to be seen. I love the amount of embroidery featured on this top. The fact that it is at the back makes it look like a beautiful painting. At the front, the opaque part of the top covers the breasts quite enough to wear a strapless bra underneath. I am wearing the Fantasie smoothing in size 30G, but it is too big for me at the moment and I think I could do with a 30FF. This size would probably work better for this top as well. Depending on your breast size, the Ashley top might not cover your bra entirely.
I love the choice of lace for this piece. It has kind of a tropical aesthetic and reminds me of palm tree leaves. I chose to wear high waist pants because it balances the sheerness of this rather revealing top. The pants are from Frank and Oak SS18 collection so they aren’t available anymore. However, they tend to make older styles available again if they’ve been popular.
This pair is made of Tencel and linen. Because of that it gets wrinkles super easily but is also light and breathable. I am wearing a size 4 but the waist is rather big for me, so it wouldn’t stay up without a belt.
Funny story, I forgot to bring a belt when I packed my clothes and had to borrow one from my grand-ma. This was her most appropriate belt to go with this outfit. I tend to go for plain colours but I think it’s cute.
I really appreciate being able to wear this top as outwear, though I definitely think I will need a more discrete strapless bra to go with it in the future. I have seen that many brands are releasing or have released unpadded strapless this year. I think this would be the best option for this kind of top. Anyway, I’ll enjoy it again this summer in the sunny and warm Montreal and under the beautiful Caribbean sun. These photos bring back great memories and I can’t wait to go back to my family later this month.
When I started this blog, all I wanted was to find the best full bust options out there. I didn’t believe in wearing non-specialized garments because, at the time, they often were inappropriate for my body shape and more importantly unflattering. However, this year, I came across a few items that didn’t come in bra sizes but actually worked very well for me.
[I received this swimsuit as a gift from UK swimwear. All thoughts and opinions are my own.]
One of them is the Gottex Profile Stargazer Swimsuit. The issue I usually encounter with one-piece non-wired swimsuits is that they do not have enough room for my breasts. Therefore, they tend to crush them which results in a very unflattering silhouette especially with high coverage pieces. However, this year, I started being obsessed with one-piece swimsuits featuring a zipper and cutouts. While I know some fullbust brands are about to release some of these styles very soon, at the time UK Swimwear reached out to me, this Gottex piece was one of the closest designs from what I was looking for. The Gottex Profile Stargazer Swimsuit reminds me a little of my old gym leotards. It’s a neat design with glittery accents and a killer construction. Sporty with a touch of glamour. The mesh parts make it more delicate and fragile than any of my other swimsuits but it does feel quite durable. Gottex is known for creating high-end swimwear. This first impression is actually very good.
I was sent a size UK 10 which is perfect for me. I was a bit worried about the look of my breasts in this piece but it actually features a built-in padded bralette with a front opening. It actually opens with one set of 2 hooks and eyes. This is a really excellent addition to this design, as it provides support and security. I could actually wear the zipper lower for a phenomenal cleavage but that is not the look I wanted for these pictures, ahah!
This piece is rather comfortable to wear and I don’t need to readjust it so much. However, I wish it had more space for my bum because it’s a bit tight in this area. It’s not as if I could have gone for a size bigger, the rest of the suit is perfect for me. That being said, it’s a common issue for me with one-piece swimsuits and bodysuits.
Otherwise, I truly love the fit of this piece. It holds everything into place. One other intersting detail is that the lower part of the suit is lined with a soft and stretchy fabric on the back. Basically, your bum’s skin isn’t in direct contact with the lycra. On the front however, it is lined with powermesh for tummy control. I just really appreciate not having to care about my breasts when I swim. This piece is perfect for that. It is also long enough for my torso. The fabric seems to be of great quality and the attention to detail is present. It’s really a beautiful piece and I am glad I got to finally try Gottex swimwear. This brand offers luxury swimsuits within a price range going roughly from 104£ to 552£ . Their couture range is truly a work of art, but I believe they offer amazing product throughout the whole price range. Their designs are fashion-forward and neat. I am glad that some of them are actually full bust friendly. Gottex Profile Stargazer Swimsuit is another beautiful addition to my swimwear wardrobe and I will definitely keep an eye on this brand in the future!
What do you think of Gottex? Have you ever tried this brand?
Hope it’s summer already in your part of the world!
If you have been following my blog since the beginning, you might remember my Gossard period. I actually started this blog reviewing Gossard lingerie, and they were the first brand to ever work with me. Since then, a lot has changed and I eventually discovered many other brands suitable for my size.
[Disclosure: I bought this corselette with my own money under my real name. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Photo credit : Becky Yee.] However, some things will never change and Gossard Retrolution range will forever be my aesthetic. Their Retrolution half-padded bra is actually the first well-fitting bra I got when I discovered online shopping. I still own it. This bra is discontinued but the brand is coming up with a new version next winter. It won’t be for full busted babes, sadly.
I very clearly remember when the brand released this corselette. I was in my first year in Canada and my roommate at the time knew about my lingerie obsession. I literally gasped when I saw this beauty. Then sadly told her my money was safe because it didn’t come in my size. We both loved Gossard so much. I literally buried the idea of getting anything else from that range since the only option available in my size was one I already had. But you know, life has its way to bring me back to my unpurchased loves.
When I was in Paris in January, actually during my very last day, I decided to visit a small boutique I had actually ordered from in the past: Les p’tits Caprices. If you can get past the messiness, this is a great place to buy discontinued lines and even more recent ones in sizes that are hard to find anywhere else in the city. This is where I found it.
(Les p’tits Caprices: 102 Rue de Charonne, 75011 Paris, France)
They had a couple of sizes available and somehow just looking at the 34E I felt like the cup were big enough to consider trying it. I am so glad I did.
The cups remind me a little of Wonderbra famous strapless bra. They are roomy, despite the non-removable extra foam for an accentuated push-up effect. Since I am full on bottom, this type of cups works very well for me.
The busk of this piece is made of rose gold metal and is very pretty. However, there is no need to use it as a closure. The back (that I am sorry we didn’t shoot), is closed with a long line of 20 hooks and eyes that go even lower than the front would suggest. It covers a big part of my bum. There are 2 rows of hooks and eyes and I am definitely more comfortable at the tightest setting. Of course, a 32″ body would have been best but I think the 34 works fine enough. After all, it’s more of a basque than an actual corset. The boning is plastic but this piece is still undeniably flattering. The lace is beautiful and all the thick retro detailing is adorable. All the straps are detachable and I actually think I could wear it as a strapless piece. However, the garter straps are definitely necessary to get the best fit possible since I went with a 34 “band”. They help to prevent wrinkles at the back (not all of them, unfortunately).
There are 2 lines of gel at the upper and lower edges of the corselette to prevent the piece from slipping. The black panels of fabric at the back are made of some strong satin-like microfiber. Another nice detail is the tiny hook in between the cups, that hold them closer together. This is great and prevents my breasts from escaping in the middle. I got this piece on sale for 83€ if I remember well, which I think was totally worth it. The retail price is 98£ which is roughly 115€. The fit and appearance of this piece aren’t disappointing at all. I actually want to wear it as a top. It’s nice to the touch, nice to look at, so worth showing off!
Have you tried anything from the Retrolution collection?
