Neutrogena has recalled its Light Therapy Mask, a product used by many, including myself every single day! The popular skincare company released a statement, stating that the mask may cause eye damage. “Reports of visual effects associated with the use of the Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask are rare, generally mild and transient,” wrote the brand. “For a small subset of the population with certain underlying eye conditions, as well as for users taking medications which could enhance ocular photosensitivity, there is a theoretical risk of eye injury.”

The mask has been taken off of every selling platform besides second-hand sites like eBay and Poshmark. Neutrogena has advised consumers to stop use of the product and to contact a healthcare professional if any visual discomfort is experienced. They are also allowing refunds if you contact their Consumer Care at (888)-984-2464.

Amazon

The Light Therapy Mask rose to fame as it was named one of Allure’s “Best of Beauty Award Winners” in 2017. The mask is also often plugged by Instagram influencers for its selfie-worthy look. It claims to have clinically-proven light therapy technology that clears breakouts and heals skin. I know this probably isn’t the best time for this, but as I said I am an avid user of the mask and this thing really works!

Regular pedicures can improve your life in many different ways. Having your feet massaged, primped, and pampered is a great source of stress relief. Being able to wear sandals or take off your shoes in front of company is a confidence builder as well. Not to mention, the dead skin removal that comes with pedicures can eliminate unsightliness such as callouses and foot odor. Read on to find out how to give yourself pedicures from the comfort of your home!

1. Soak your feet

Shutterstock

The first step to your professional pedicure is often the first step when you visit a salon: soak your feet! Find a bowl that is wide and deep enough, fill it with warm water to soften the skin (be careful not to burn yourself), and let your feet sit in it until you feel relaxed and your skin is softened enough to start the next step.

Tip: Adding Epsom salts or homemade ingredients designed for softening skin or aiding in aches and pains can enhance the effects of this step. It also adds to the feeling of being pampered, you deserve it after all!

2. Slough off the dead skins

Shutterstock

This is my favorite part as I absolutely hate the feeling of dry, scaly feet. Once your feet are nice and softened from the foot soak, proceed with removing the dead skin with either an exfoliating gel or pumice stone, etc. Your feet are used and abused every day. Wearing shoes for a long period of time daily will cause your feet to sweat with minimal ability to breathe. Many people may develop foot odor because of this, so this step is particularly important if this applies to you.

3. Moisturize and massage

Shutterstock

Once your feet are super soft from the previous steps, it’s time to apply lotion. You can choose whichever body lotion is your fave or go with a lotion specialized for moisturizing the feet! Take this opportunity to massage the lotion into your skin and really rub those areas that may be sensitive from being overworked.

4. Remove your cuticles

Shutterstock

Now, it’s time to deal with your nails! Many people overlook the cuticles on the feet because they don’t think they’re as important as the ones on your hands but that’s just not true! Removing the cuticles on your toes will really enhance the look of your feet. Apply a cuticle softener, push your cuticles up the nails and trim them using a cuticle trimmer. This can also be a good time to notice if you may have any ingrown toenails. If so, I recommend letting a professional handle it!

5. Shape your nails

Shutterstock

Once your toes are clean and pampered, it’s time to grab your nail filer and/or nail trimmer. Different toenail shapes will affect the look of your feet, so pic a shape that’s best for you and file away! If you want to apply polish to your toes, proceed with the same techniques you use on your hand, but make sure to separate your toes to avoid smudging the polish! If the spa treatment was all you needed, I recommend ending this ritual with some cuticle oil.

Tip: Removing dirt under the nails is crucial to keep your feet clean and healthy, and especially so if you don’t plan on wearing any polish. A lot of dirt and dead skin can get trapped under there which can contribute to odor.

Tip: Use spa socks overnight with your favorite lotion to keep your heels from becoming cracked!

There you have it ladies! These 5 steps can really boost your confidence and the health of your feet. Even if your lifestyle doesn’t allow for your feet to breathe until bedtime, taking the time to give your feet a spa treatment once in a while can really improve your quality of life. Let us know if pedicures have become a beauty ritual for you, too!

Being a tall woman who enjoys fashion can be a disappointing experience since there aren’t enough stores that offer longer pants/sleeves fits, and don’t even get me started on the sheer bravery it takes to sport a pair of heels (as if we didn’t get looked at or heard the “weather up there” jokes enough). Picking out a pair of heels can be a more complicated process if you’re vertically gifted. Simple looks aren’t enough; we need to account for comfortability and most importantly, the heel length.

1. Kitten Heels

Shutterstock

Ladies passing the six-foot mark may prefer a more lowkey high heel such as these. Whether you go for plain, a peep-toe, D’Orsay, or a combination, they will give you the look you’re going for. These heels are usually below 3 inches so they don’t exaggerate your height while still giving you the sculpted look of an arched leg.

2. Cone Heels

These heels combine the delicate illusion of thin heels and the comfort of bulky heels. Their cone-shaped heels give you the support you need at the top while also thinning out at the bottom for a very specific kind of look.

3. Wedges

Shutterstock

These bad boys are the staples of summertime! They not only give you the added sophistication of wearing high heels for an outfit but the material they are made of as well as the shape your feet are in while wearing them give you maximum comfort. Wedges can come in a platform style or as a flat sandal as well as a peep-toe, take your pick!

Tip: If you are new to wearing high heels, try a pair of wedges out first to get used to the added height!

4. Ankle Booties

Shutterstock

These are the safest heels for taller women by far. They give you the sophistication of wearing heeled boots while also playing it safe with the height. They are so comfortable you can even wear them to work to spice up your look from 9-5!

5. Block Heels

Shutterstock

These heels are hands down the best heels for tall women. The thickness of the heels offers much-needed support to keep you from stumbling, not to mention, they are extremely trendy! These heels come in all sizes, so try out a smaller block heel and work your way up!

Tips: Ankle straps are amazing for added support! Also, heels made out of cork add an amazing amount of comfort!

If you find yourself cringing at the thought of wearing high heels, try these pairs out before giving up on the idea! You might even find yourself feeling too confident to care what people think about your height…

U.S. News Health released an article written by experts explaining anxiety, which is the most common mental condition in the United States. according to the study they embarked upon. It is stated, this illness affects approximately 40 million people. So, do not be surprised if your loved one has been suffering from it secretly. Here is a list of 10 tips to easy anxiety.

Acknowledge the anxiety

This is one of the things you need to do as soon as you are feeling anxious. You need to think about what is making you feel this way. Once you have performed this step, you can relax by saying to yourself most of the things you are worrying about are not going to happen. Yet, if they do, you have already spent quality time considering it that you will be prepared and ready to deal with it.

Learn more

One of the ways to ease that anxiety is to educate yourself about your concern. Knowing the expectations ahead of the actions can be effective in terms of calming your fears. Most of our despairs are based on our lack of information we have toward them. This is the reason we need to get educated about our phobias and face their respective situations.

Make a plan

First, put yourself in the hypothetical situation of being face to face with what you have always feared. Second, plan how you would exit that stage victoriously. There, you would control your anxiety.

Write it down

Making lists and crossing off activities as you get them done can ease you a bit. First, write down everything that is making you feel anxious or overwhelmed. Second, mark your priorities down on this check-list. Third, cross off the tasks you have completed. There you would do everything you needed to do without forgetting a thing!

Keep your distractions handy

It is recommended you keep your mind occupied so your fears do not overwhelm it. You can read or watch not dramatic but vivid books or movies respectively. Puzzles are always fun and keep you distracted.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes

Most of the times, caffeine can boost your cells in the nervous system, worsening the situation instead of improving it. Relatedly, alcohol can debilitate your body, as you for sure will feel dehydrated. So, that is a NO!

Chew on ice cubes

Ice cubes are great because they will keep you focused and help you release tension, as you are just drinking water!

Eat well

it is true the prescribed pill is more effective regarding short-term results than eating and sleeping well. However, the latter approach is healthier in the long-term effect. Further research is needed to identify the connection between food and mental behavior. Yet, there is indeed a causal relation. It is suggested you add cinnamon, ginger and cumin to your diet.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy

This will involve you talking to an expert about your fears. Talking about and addressing what is making you feel unease can be effective because that will help you deal with your phobias in a very healthy manner before the event actually happens. Consider visiting a hypnotist.

Ask your doctor about meds

When all these previous tips have failed, visit your doctor and ask him for anti-anxiety meds. The pills s/he will prescribe you are going to use them under extreme circumstances because they will calm you down right away. However, it is not recommended you take them daily due to the strong chemicals which are keeping you mentally sound, or drink alcohol.

We know it is summer already. But it is never too late to hit some gym workouts and get that fabulous body you have always wanted to have. Not only will you look hotter but also healthier. It does not even matter if this is your first time working out, here are some 8 user-friendly and effective gym machines you can start off in the meantime you make new friends or ask your personal trainer to show you the rest of the equipment so you will see results faster.

Smith machine

Shutterstock

Let’s start off with this exercise which is very user-friendly and it is awesome for us. Even if you have never used it, this vertical bar, which you can add weights if you want to, puts you in the right position so your workout is effective and you do not break any part of your body. Here, you can do shoulder presses, dead-lifts and last but never least; squats!

Water rower

Shutterstock

This exercise is great for three reasons. It is very easy to use, it helps you with your postural conditions, and you train your whole body! This machine is a 3-in-1-body workout”. Firstly, you need to sit on it. Secondly, put your feet on the footrests. Thirdly, grab the handle and keep moving back and forth until you are told to stop or if you start to feel dizzy.

Glute machine

Shutterstock

Does anyone get as excited when training your glutes with this very machine as I do? Well, I am a fan of this exercise because it is not that hard to do as you build that wanted-sexy zone quite effectively. In addition, you decide how much weight you lift.

Hack squat

Shutterstock

This is an amazing resistance training as you train your lower body just fabulously! However, if this is your first time at it, you need to do it very carefully and with the lightest weights possible so your knees do not get hurt. Ladies, place your back against the back pad, feet on the slanted platform and shoulders under shoulder pads. This exercise consists of bending the knees and raising them over and over again.

Treadmill

Shutterstock

This cardio machine is very functional. Your fitness goals are going to tell you how you are going to use it. You can play around with the speed and incline of it during the recommended 30-minute workout. High speed on it means you want to build muscles in the legs, hips and glutes, whereas the latter helps you strengthening your body.

Stationary bike

Shutterstock

This is my favorite machine at the gym! I love it because when I just have one hour to work out, which means I have to skip leg day, this cardio apparatus always bails me out! I play around with it adjusting its speed and resistance throughout the one-hour workout. For beginners, it is recommendable to take it easy and start with light resistance levels.

Pull-up assist

Shutterstock

Pull-up can be difficult for some men, of course, it is going to be about impossible for us, women, to do it! However, this workout is amazing because as it names says it, it assists you on your pull-up progress. Day by day, you can adjust the weight you lift and decrease the bulk the machine is helping you with.

Free motion dual cable cross

Shutterstock

This multi-functional machine is incredible. You can do a lot of exercises here and work all of your body, as you adjust the weights you lift. If this is your first time with it, you can start with light bulks or with none whatsoever. Again, the level of intensity depends on your short-or-long-terms-fitness goals

If you’re a makeup lover, then odds are you know certain makeup products will have the exact same effects despite having vastly different price tags. E.L.F cosmetics is known for its affordability and while that certainly shows in some of their products, other makeup pieces will leave you speechless after hearing the brand name. Check out this handful of products that E.L.F absolutely nailed.

1. Poreless Putty Primer

Of course, I had to start with E.L.F.’s coveted primer. This product sells out quite quickly after each restock because of how amazing it is at blurring your face pre-foundation to give you movie star perfection. The product was instantly on every beauty lover’s radar after an extensive review done by YouTuber Jeffree Star where he compares it to Tatcha’s Silk Canvas Primer.

2. Heart Defensor Highlighter

This highlighter in Coffee ‘N Cream just doesn’t disappoint. Whether you want a bronze highlight for a more natural, sunkissed look or a bright white highlight that will blind your onlookers, this product is sure to deliver.

3. HD Lifting Concealer

I have tried out my fair share of E.L.F concealers, and while the 16HR Camo Concealer is getting the spotlight right now, I still believe the HD Lifting Concealer is the one that should get some recognition. Although the shades are limited, it is highly blendable and buildable which is the ultimate combination for great concealers.

4. Hello Hydration Face Cream

Even though this isn’t a makeup product per se, it is still pivotal for the makeup routine. Hydration is a key step before plastering liquids, powders and clays on your face that could dry your skin out. This face cream made quite the impression on skincare lovers because of how good of a job it did for only 12 USD!

5. Contour Palette

Last but certainly not least, I had to include the contour palette that I have “hit pan” on and recently restocked. It is one of the only palettes in which I have found a use for every shade. The powders also sit well on the skin to even out whatever foundation you’ve just applied without causing creases or unsightly textures.

Here you have it! The top 5 holy grail E.L.F. Cosmetics products you should totally try out! Let us know what you think of them if you have tried them!

K-Beauty has traveled overseas creating a buzz wherever it goes. Their use of all-natural products has thrived in today’s vegan and cruelty-free markets. Most impressive of all, is their extensive skincare regimens that will have your skin clearing up, your GPA skyrocketing and your stocks going up! (kidding) If you’re looking to achieve the coveted “glass skin” appearance of K-pop idols and entertainers alike, keep reading!

1. Oil Cleanser

This is the perfect first step since an oil cleanser is great at removing oil-based products like old sunscreen and makeup from your pores!

(A favorite of mine is coconut oil!)

2. Foam Cleanser

This routine is known for its double-cleanse ideology. Washing your face twice not only ensures there won’t be any dirt left to cause any breakouts, but the difference in types of cleansers is what creates the magic. A water-based cleanser will get rid of any water-based impurities in your skin like sweat.

3. Exfoliator

Exfoliation can be pivotal for making sure your products absorb deep into your skin. If you don’t bother scrubbing off those dead skin cells that sit at the top of your skin, then your products won’t penetrate deep enough to make an impact! Not to mention, it helps to brighten the appearance of your skin altogether. This step is recommended 1-2 times a week.

4. Toner

This is one step that is vastly overlooked in the beauty community. Many opt out of toning since its watery texture seems ineffective compared to other products. However, the truth is that toning is important to do when your skin is sensitive after cleaning and exfoliation and could use a prep for the rehydration that comes afterward.

5. Essence

This step is the nitty-gritty of Korean skincare. Essences are packed with anti-aging and complexion boosters that will really give you that movie-star look ready for a close-up!

6. Serum

This is an optional step for those of us cursed with skin problems such as acne and hyperpigmentation. Serums will help improve the look of the skin by evening out its appearance!

7. Sheet Mask

Sheet masks have become a staple for skincare, not to mention, they’re fun to do! Like exfoliation, this step should only be done 1-2 times a week. Different masks will give your skin what it needs, so check out your local drug store and pick up a few of those pop colored packets!

(Because I tend to suffer from dryness and redness, my favorite masks are ones packed with oatmeal and avocado oil for soothing and hydration!)

8. Eye Cream

Essences aren’t the only product essential for anti-aging. Eye creams are super beneficial for fighting the look of fine lines, dark circles, and crows feet! This is absolutely a must-have for dedicated beauty enthusiasts looking to preserve their looks well into old age.

9. Face Cream

Ah, the step people tend to skip to after cleansing! Applying a facial cream should already be second nature for anyone getting into skincare, and should be used as one of the final steps of the regimen to seal in the skin’s hydration for younger-looking skin.

10. SPF

via GIPHY

If you’re like me, then sunscreen has become one of those things you hear about in the beauty community over and over again like a mantra. Using sunscreen daily is another staple to this K-beauty routine. Protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun will not only help you fight skin cancer, but it will also keep your skin youthful as well!

Good things come to those who double cleanse, ladies! How likely are you to try this extensive skincare process for the sake of beautiful skin?

Picking out appropriate nail colors can be tricky for different occasions. Sometimes, it’s trendy to opt for a brighter color at one event while tacky for another. Continue reading for a guide on how to avoid making those polish mistakes.

Casual

Shutterstock

Events that are more casual like a house party or a brunch are the best places to show off your seasonal polish and/or your own personal style! Check out this guide to learn about seasonal polish.

Business Casual

Shuttestock

This can be the trickiest look to pull off. Short notice of an office party or baby shower can have you sprinting to the mall for a peplum top and a manicure! Colorful polishes are still acceptable for business casual but should match the theme of what you’re attending. Gender reveal parties welcome pastel colors while a work gathering at an upscale restaurant can warrant a more muted tone.

Cocktail

Shutterstock

Nail polishes should be more low-key when paired with a cocktail dress. Your little black dress could benefit from a black manicure the most or a simple cherry red! Metallic colors also make great choices for these types of events.

Note: A good rule of thumb for appropriateness of nail color is to tone down the colors the fancier the occasion is so as to draw more attention to what you’re wearing or your makeup instead of your hands.

Festive

Shutterstock

During a festive event, anything goes! It’s the perfect setting to let loose and sport something creative on your hands that will showcase the theme of the party. Whether it’s Mardi Gras or a masquerade, don’t be afraid to dress up your hands and feet as well!

Black Tie

Shutterstock

Since this is the fanciest of occasions, it’s safe to say your nails should be drawing the least attention. Odds are, you’re going to be wearing a show-stopping outfit and a done-up face, so don’t let your manicure steal the shine! Opt for tasteful colors such as nude, light pink or a simple french manicure to do the trick.

Being able to make sound judgments on your nail polish will eliminate half the stress of pulling off a look for any occasion! Whatever the event might be, it’s guaranteed to be a better time if you’re not worried about looking tacky, so follow this guide and have some fun!
