Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, Carnival Panorama, successfully completed its sea trials in the Adriatic Sea earlier this week in anticipation of its inaugural cruise from Long Beach, Calif., Dec. 11, 2019, becoming the line’s first new ship on the West Coast in 20 years.

Currently in the final stages of construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, Carnival Panorama had a full contingent of officers, technicians and engineers on board who thoroughly tested the ship’s sophisticated technical, mechanical and navigation systems.

“Carnival Panorama is a wonderful addition to the fleet and she passed all of her maneuvers and tests with flying colors.   We can’t wait to welcome guests aboard this beautiful ship,” said Carnival Panorama Captain Carlo Queirolo.

As the newest ship in the fleet, Carnival Panorama will offer innovations such as the first Sky Zone trampoline park at sea and a new ChooseFun WaterWorks aqua park inspired by the line’s Chief Fun Officer, NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, as well as popular onboard venues like Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse Brewhouse, featuring BBQ favorites created by Food Network star and longtime partner Guy Fieri and craft beers brewed on board.

Carnival Panorama will also offer a variety of accommodation choices, including the tropics-inspired Havana area with colorful staterooms and its own Cuban-themed bar and pool; Family Harbor with extra-roomy staterooms and the Family Harbor Lounge; and luxurious Cloud 9 Spa staterooms with special amenities and privileges.

Following an inaugural three-day voyage to Ensenada, Carnival Panorama will launch year-round seven-day Mexican Riviera cruises from Long Beach Dec. 14. The week-long adventures will visit spectacular seaside resort towns including Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlan.

Carnival Cruise Line is set to release a four-part video series called “Crew Gratitude” for travel advisors and their clients focusing on six crew members, showing the impact that Carnival’s guests have made on their lives and families through gratuities.

Team members showcased include housekeeping staff and dining room waiters. The first video in the series is set for release July 18, with subsequent videos released throughout the month of August.

“I get so many questions from our guests and travel advisors asking about our Gratuities Program – what it is, who gratuities go to and why they matter,” said Adolfo Perez, senior vice president of global sales and trade marketing. “When I sat down to chat with some of our onboard crew members, the impact gratuities have on their lives and the lives of their families was clear. That’s what we’re hoping to showcase through this ‘Crew Gratitude’ video series.”

The videos aim to help travel advisors and their clients get to know shipboard crew members — the people responsible for delivering unforgettable guest experiences — on a more personal level. These frontline team members lead the efforts in providing the services that deliver an exceptional cruise vacation, which help advisors build client loyalty to the Carnival brand and earn repeat bookings for the agency.

“We want everyone who watches these videos to connect with our crew members and see how the gratuities they pay truly make it possible for them to fulfill their dreams, aspirations and family goals,” said Perez.

The video series will be promoted on Perez’ Facebook Page and GoCCL.com.

As part of the second annual Dr. Seuss’s Word Challenge, sponsored by Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books, kids sailing aboard Carnival Cruise Line this summer read an astonishing 250 million Dr. Seuss words through fun, educational activities across the line’s 26-ship fleet, helping to surpass the overall goal of 250 million Dr. Seuss words read during the nationwide campaign.

The summer reading program, which started May 21, ended yesterday with a book reading to local children from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida in Port Canaveral, Fla. aboard Carnival Liberty.

As the Official Seagoing Partner of Dr. Seuss’s Word Challenge, Carnival encouraged young cruisers sailing on its ships in June and July to read as many Dr. Seuss words as possible during book reading sessions on board. Kids could then log their words and monitor their progress using a word tracker on Seussville.com.

All those who registered and entered their Dr. Seuss word count at Seussville.com before July 15 were also eligible to win a free Carnival cruise.

Dr. Seuss’s Word Challenge is part of Seuss at Sea, Carnival’s exclusive partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises that showcases the wonderful words and world of the beloved children’s author through fun, family-oriented entertainment, youth activities and unique dining experiences.

“Carnival Cruise Line is the leader in family cruising carrying more than 900,000 kids a year and we’re excited to have been the Official Seagoing Partner of Dr. Seuss’s Word Challenge again this year,” said Melissa Wisecarver, director of youth experience for Carnival Cruise Line. “The onboard program reinforces the importance of reading – even on vacation – in a fun and creative way and contributes to this year’s overall word goal.”

Launched in 2014, Seuss at Sea has become one of the most popular children’s programs in the travel industry and includes such fun activities as The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with The Cat in the Hat and Friends and the Seuss-a-palooza Parade and Story Time, as well as character interactions, Dr. Seuss toys and games, and popular movies shown on board.

Dr. Seuss Bookville, a vibrant and colorful family reading venue, is also featured on select ships, including the new Carnival Panorama set to debut later this year.

Following a first-of-its-kind procedure in which Carnival Vista was loaded onto the Boka Vanguard, a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel operated by Netherlands-based Boskalis, the cruise ship arrived at the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport this evening to begin repairs of its azipod propulsion system.

The process began last night with Carnival Vista and Boka Vanguard rendezvousing off the coast of Freeport and took approximately 24 hours to complete.

Carnival Vista will stay positioned within the “floating dry dock” at the Grand Bahama Shipyard while repairs are being made.  After being offloaded from the Boka Vanguard, Carnival Vista will depart Freeport later this month and resume its year-round Caribbean schedule from Galveston on July 27.

The wine lists from all steakhouses aboard Carnival Cruise Line ships have been recognized with the coveted Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine, bestowed upon approximately 2,400 restaurants each year.

Wine Spectator‘s Restaurant Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.

Venues that earn the Award of Excellence typically offer at least 90 selections, feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Whether compact or extensive, focused or diverse, these lists deliver sufficient choice to satisfy discerning wine lovers.

The wine lists available at Carnival’s steakhouses represent some of the top wine regions in the world, hand-selected by the line’s team of highly experienced beverage professionals and cellared in sophisticated EuroCave cellars which maintain ideal temperature and conditions.

In addition to award-winning wine lists, Carnival’s steakhouses offer a menu of dry-aged steaks and an array of gourmet appetizers, side dishes and desserts, all served in an elegant setting with impeccable service.

Carnival Cruise Line will operate its largest Bermuda season ever in 2019-2020, with more than 40 voyages visiting the nation, including eight week-long cruises departing from Baltimore and Charleston next year.

In total, six different Carnival ships – Carnival Breeze, Magic, Pride, Radiance, Sunshine and Sunrise – will offer four- to nine-day Bermuda cruises from five homeports along the eastern seaboard between now and next year.

Carnival is the only cruise operator to offer round-trip Bermuda cruises from Charleston, Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale. Nine-day Bermuda departures have also been added to the New York-based schedules of the totally transformed Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Radiance that include four-day cruises to the island as well.

Carnival’s diverse Bermuda schedule not only encompasses a wide range of cruise durations and homeports but also a variety of ship sizes and amenities, providing consumers with unprecedented opportunities to visit the popular destination.

“Guest feedback on our Bermuda program has been nothing short of sensational and we’re delighted to expand our offerings to provide even more guests an opportunity to experience all this tropical island paradise has to offer,” said Fred Stein, Carnival’s vice president of revenue planning and deployment.

The seven week-long cruises to Bermuda from Baltimore will be offered aboard Carnival Pride and spend three days in Bermuda, while a seven-day cruise from Charleston aboard Carnival Sunshine will feature two days on the island along with a visit to the private Bahamian destination of Princess Cays.  Baltimore departure dates include May 31, Aug. 2 and 23, Sept. 6 and 20, and Oct. 4 and 18, 2020.  The cruise from Charleston departs Oct. 17, 2020.

While in Bermuda, guests can relax on the island’s legendary pink beaches, enjoy snorkeling, kayaking and other water sports, and visit historical landmarks such as Royal Naval Dockyard and Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse, the oldest cast iron lighthouse in the Western Hemisphere. Numerous shopping, dining and golfing experiences are also available.

Today, Carnival Cruise Line announced it is the first large-scale cruise operator to partner with Clean the World. Through this global sustainability program, nearly 40 tons of discarded soap will be collected each year to be recycled into new soap bars and distributed to vulnerable communities worldwide.

Clean the World is a global health leader in WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) and sustainability dedicated to saving lives by recycling and distributing soap and other hygiene products to more than 127 countries.

As part of the program, Carnival will start collecting discarded soap from guest and crew staterooms throughout the fleet and send it to a Clean the World recycling center where the soap will be sanitized, melted down and reprocessed. Together, Carnival and Clean the World will distribute more than 400,000 new, clean bars of soap to people in need across the globe each year. The new program has already been tested on several of Carnival’s ships and will be rolled out across its entire North American fleet by the end of July. It is one of multiple initiatives underway to further reduce waste disposal and recycle additional products used on board.

Through its partnership with Carnival, Clean the World will be able to expand its existing recycling program to locations throughout the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Bermuda and Central America, providing life-saving hygiene services to residents in these areas as well as further support its WASH programming in the Dominican Republic.

“We’re proud and honored to be the first large-scale cruise line to partner with Clean the World, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of those in underprivileged communities throughout the world,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Carnival guests use more than three million bars of soap each year. With this partnership, we’ll positively impact the lives of so many people who will have access to a basic hygiene product that so many of us take for granted.”

“We rely on partners to help us deliver much-needed hygiene supplies to children and families in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, and South America, which are among the areas most in need of this support,” says Shawn Seipler, founder and chief executive officer, Clean the World. “This incredible partnership with Carnival Cruise Line allows us to expand our outreach, putting more soap into the hands of people in need. We hope that this program will continue to grow in the future.”

Nearly 5,000 children under age five die each day – two million children a year – due to hygiene-related diseases. Through its efforts, Clean the World has contributed to a 60 percent reduction in the death rate of young children worldwide.

Carnival Cruise Line has launched “GoCCL Navigator,” a redesigned and renamed cruise booking tool for travel advisors. The result of a year of research and design, the release of Phase 1 today represents the first major overhaul of Carnival’s booking engine in a decade.

Changes to the booking engine were based on extensive input from travel advisors, and the platform was beta-tested in May by more than 500 “power users” — agents who are the line’s highest-volume bookers.

“Carnival worked with many of our travel partners to understand their needs and make sure that the new GoCCL Navigator booking engine is user-friendly and efficient,” said Adolfo Perez, senior vice president of global sales and trade marketing. “The launch of GoCCL Navigator is part of our ongoing commitment to providing travel advisors with the best sales tools in the industry so they can book clients on a Carnival cruise with ease.”

In addition to a new sleek design, interaction with the site has been streamlined to reduce the number of steps required to perform tasks and the site has been optimized for mobile devices.

Other new features include:

  • An enhanced search function that enables one-step filtering for more accurate searches.
  • Interactive deck plans that make selecting specific staterooms easier.
  • Improved quick-quote and pricing functionality that enables advisors to personalize Carnival-branded emails to clients in just a few steps.
  • Easier price comparisons on different stateroom categories.
  • Improved booking flow for individual reservations.

Work is underway on the upcoming rollout of Phase 2, which will include booking management, payment, group bookings and other features aimed at making reservation servicing easier for travel advisors.

Training on how to use the GoCCL Navigator is available via the Learn and Earn Training Program tab that is accessible on GoCCL.com.
