The Sea to Sky Gondola (in Squamish, BC) is one of the most stunning spots around the Greater Vancouver area, and perfect for breath-taking engagement or wedding portraits. Being beautiful in nature also means that tourists from both near and far come to enjoy the mountain views, hikes, and even restaurant dining. No matter the season, this place is one of my favourite recommendations for those visiting Vancouver. Unlike it’s neighbour, The Chief, it provides the same stunning views with very little effort. It is no wonder that for this session, everyone had the same idea in mind as to how to spend a sunny December evening, and thus it was very crowded. I feel proud that these photos look like we were the only people on the mountain, but don’t be fooled, it required a lot of patience to make sure the coast was clear. Everyone was very gracious and we said many thank you’s to those around us who waited until we had taken the shot and moved out of the way.
The real stars of the show were Rosy & Karin who looked absolutely amazing despite the chilly temperatures. You wouldn’t even know because of how happy and content they looked when they were focused on each other. These two met through mutual friends and after doing the dance of playing it tough, they were soon dating and in love. After being engaged for 2 years, they are finally tying the knot this summer, and I am so excited for them! As a photographer, I am always up for enduring low temperatures and long distances for great pictures, and I am thankful that these two were up for the challenge. Rosy’s red dress and Karin’s impeccable style brings this session to a whole new level. Enjoy!

What a whirlwind 2018 has been! It is so rewarding to look back on all the wonderful life events I have been a part of and created this past year. In my personal life, 2018 has been incredible, mostly because I myself, got married! I can now truly say from experience that getting married is the best, and our wedding was my favourite day this year. You can see our favourites on my personal blog here. However, this post is about my awesome clients. I gain so much fulfillment from capturing all their love and I want everyone to know that they are the reason why I love what I do. I even pray for all my couples and clients as often as I can!
In 2018, I photographed 35 non-Saturday weddings & elopements and 56 other sessions. Even though I will be based fully in Vancouver very soon, I did a lot of travelling between Alberta and BC as well as all over North America! I had the privilege of shooting in places such as Los Cabos, Hamilton, Canmore, Banff, Victoria, Southern California, Seattle, Revelstoke, North Dakota, Salmon Arm, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, the Sunshine Coast, and of course my beloved Vancouver. Some other highlights included launching my customized albums through Vision Art, flying in a helicopter for the first time, being asked to become a Junebug member, climbing a tall mountain for sunset portraits, and attending ARC (a photography conference) for the first time where I was able to meet lots of other talented photographers. If 2018 has taught me anything, it is that being a photographer brings a ton of amazing opportunities, but it also requires a LOT of work. I hope that all the hard work shows in these photographs and they fill your heart with joy as well as inspire you to explore beautiful places!
The UBC Boathouse, situated on the river in Richmond, was the perfect place for Karli & Clayton to have their charming summer wedding. Everything was so beautiful-from their lovely florals done by Flowerella to Karli’s dress from Laudae Bridal that fit her like a glove! Karli and Clayton grew up in different places (Karli from Greater Vancouver, and Clayton from Edmonton) but they met at King’s College in Alberta. This story really resonated with me as my husband and I met in Alberta as well! Though it was several months ago, I still remember Clayton saying in his vows that the first time he saw Karli he thought, “Dang I am going to marry that girl” and then immediately took the thought back because it sounded so silly. Well, his intuition was correct! They started dating and the rest is history! Their wedding had such a happy and loving atmosphere with tons of laughter and joyful tears. One of my favourite and unique parts of their reception was the game “The Price is Right” which they used to dismiss tables. It got everyone laughing and in a competitive spirit so it was a no brainer for me to steal the idea and use it for my wedding two weeks later! Anyway, I will let you enjoy the images that tell the story of their wedding celebration, and if you want to see a link to their engagement session as well as the vendors, simply scroll to the bottom of the post!
What a gorgeous fall wedding this was at the Lake House in Calgary, AB! Everything about this day was beautiful from the picturesque venue, the autumn leaves, the flowers by Mandala Floral, Nicole’s dress from The Bridal Boutique, and above all, the amazing couple themselves. Nicole and Jeff are the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. The whole day they were smiling, laughing, and always had the nicest things to say to whoever was around them. Their laughs were infectious! They picked a gorgeous autumn day for their wedding, and though most would gravitate towards the golden leaves as a backdrop, they opted for an indoor photo option to account for weather mishaps. In the end we decided to do the photos on the campus grounds of SAIT and it was the perfect place for portraits. I highly recommend it to couples who want something a little more unique and are afraid of rain or snow. Enough of me jabbering on, I will let the photos speak for themselves in portraying the joy and emotion of the day, as it truly was one to remember!
Rob and Jenn are my kind of couple which simply means they are madly in love! These two connected all the way back in high school, dated for a while, but fell apart. Years later Jenn reconnected with Rob on Facebook rather mischievously and before they knew it, they went on a trip to Africa together! 5 years later their love is so alive and their wedding was filled with so many close friends and family who care about them so deeply. On top of all that, their wedding was set in one of my favourite cities, Victoria, BC. Part of the day we spent photographing in Beacon Hill Park which was such a treat because that’s where my own parents had their wedding pictures taken, over 25 years ago! With getting ready at The Craigmyle, pictures downtown Victoria, and the ceremony and reception at the Sea Cider Farm, it couldn’t have been a more perfect day! Congratulations Jenn & Rob!
This spring I had the opportunity to go to Loma Linda and photograph this wonderful engagement session in Joshua Tree Park (not too far away). My trip to California was so full of fun, love, and WARMTH for this Canadian girl still stuck in winter. Meeting Ruthie & Brandon made it all the better! Hearing their love story and seeing them interact was such a treat. Did you know that they went to the same elementary school and didn't meet until university at LLU? It was so romantic; they were meant to be together <3. A huge thanks to my trusty location scouter Jessica for bringing me to Joshua Tree Park and helping me check another awesome place off my "must-shoot" bucket list!
