Looking to get outside on a beautiful summer day? Want to get your kids involved in something to release their pent up energy? This summer, ParkARTS is returning to the Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s scheduled summer fun. With events for all ages, you won’t want to miss out on this free fun that will be taking place all summer long. These events are some of the best things to do in Boston this summer.

The Artists in Residence Workshop series is sponsored by Holly Bruce and gives kids a creative outlet. This program puts together a group of workshops set outdoors in Boston’s various parks. Local artists join children to participate in fun arts and crafts activities. They will draw, color, glue, and cut alongside one another, teaching along the way.

Kids can paint, create treasures, and build beautiful jewelry and stunning masks while enjoying the fresh air. What a great way to keep them entertained while you enjoy a few refreshing moments in the sun.

These Artists in Residence Workshops take place all over the city from Allston to East Boston, Dorchester, and Roxbury. Check out a full list of all participating parks on the City of Boston’s website under Children’s Artists in Residence Workshops. No matter the park, all activities take place from 12 P.M. to 2 P.M.

In addition to the crafty fun, the New England Aquarium and the Marionette Puppet Show series join in on certain locations. Check out the traveling tide pool where kids can interact with the underwater creatures.

There are also ParkARTS programs for adults. For instance, the Dorothy Curran Wednesday Night Concert Series. This series features a tribute performance to the band Chicago, a journey through the greatest Motown decades, and disco. Similarly, Movie Nights at Boston Parks is a great way to enjoy a night with the whole family. In various parks throughout Boston, at 8:00 P.M. you can find yourself watching new movies like The Incredibles 2 or Black Panther.

However, if these park activities aren’t enough to suit your fresh air sensibilities, check out our guide to the best parks in Boston. Pack a lunch and some coloring books, and enjoy your own arts and crafts day out on the grass.

Although The Sound of Music is known as a classic movie from 1965, it began as a musical from Rodger and Hammerstein in 1959. They featured charming and iconic leads like Julie Andrews and Mary Martin. Now is your chance to see this amazing performance in person. Goldstar is offering tickets at nearly half-price for our lucky readers to experience The Sound of Music just a short ride outside of Boston in Waltham, Massachusetts. It’s one of the best things to do in Boston this weekend!

This brilliant musical is based on Maria von Trapp’s memoir from Austria in the 1930s. Just before World War II, Maria takes a job caring for the von Trapp family’s seven loveable children. After becoming very close with all of the kids, she grows fond of the widowed father along the way. Accompanied by the most charming songs, this musical is impossible not to leave the theater without humming along.

After winning five Tony Awards at its debut in 1959, Richard Rodger and Oscar Hammerstein’s epic music still draws ears. From the title song “The Sound of Music” to the everlasting “My Favorite Things” this musical has you not only singing along to every word, but dancing and swaying to the music as well. You will be blown away by the lead performances. Elliot Norton Award winner Aimee Doherty and IRNE Award nominee Mark Linehan star as Maria and Captain Won Trapp.

A story for all ages, this show can be enjoyed by everyone in the family. During its run, you can check out The Sound of Music for under $35 each — nearly 50% off the regular price. At this price, everyone can enjoy the iconic music that’s made decades of audiences smile. As a Boston on Budget reader, you get this link to Goldstar’s special deal on tickets. Because these tickets are normally priced at $65 each, snatch them up quickly to get $25-30 off with us.

Catch Reagle’s production of The Sound of Music from July 11th-21st in Waltham at The Reagle Music Theater/ Robinson Theatre at 617 Lexington Street. Purchase your tickets through this link to get an off the charts discount on the online price.

The Provincetown Fast Ferry (or PTown ferry) is a great way to enjoy Cape Cod without a car or traffic. The ferry leaves from Boston and arrives in Provincetown in 90 minutes!

Regular price ferry tickets are $93 for adults roundtrip and $68 roundtrip for children ages 3-11. One way tickets are $61 per adult and $39 for children. However, there are a few ways to save big on your ride with various Provincetown Fast Ferry discount tickets and deals.

Here are some of our favorite ways to save on the PTown ferry:

Provincetown Fast Ferry Discounts & Coupons

The first thing we recommend is to keep your eye out on Goldstar for Provincetown Fast Ferry discount tickets. They are constantly updating their site with discounts for Boston on Budget readers and they often have PTown Ferry discount tickets that will let you save big. The Provincetown Fast Ferry is a discount they love to offer, so make sure you always check for their latest offers before buying your tickets.

If you go often, a 10-ride pass is available for $400 and the pass can be used for up to two people at a time. Because of the popularity of these ferries, we recommend booking a reservation in advance. Luckily, even if the weekend you’re looking to go is booked, these passes never expire so there’s no need to worry about losing money with these tickets.

If you’re someone who uses the ferry several times a week, you might want to consider their VIP Pass. The VIP Pass gives you unlimited Provincetown Ferry travel for the entire season with no reservations needed and priority boarding. There’s no charge for bringing a bike, and you get one free non-alcoholic drink every trip plus several other perks, like Provincetown Fast Ferry discount tickets for friends. It is a steep $1200 for the VIP-Town Season Pass, but again, if you’re someone who relies on the ferry regularly, you can definitely save money in the long run with this. Season passes do sell out quickly, however, so make sure you get yours at the beginning of the season.

Viator is also another option for Provincetown Fast Ferry tickets; however, they are selling at full-price. If you are a first-time visitor though, you may see a little pop-up for an offer for 10% off tickets or something similar at Viator.com. You can also sign up through a referral link for a free $10 credit if you’d rather. The discount isn’t huge, but sometimes an extra 10% off can still help, especially if you were going to pay full-price anyway.

Have you taken the ferry from Boston to Provincetown before? What is your preferred method to travel to Cape Cod? Know of any other ways to get Provincetown Fast Ferry discount tickets? Share all of your experiences by commenting below.

King Richard’s Faire in Carver is celebrating their 38th Anniversary this year, running August 31 – October 20, 2019 on weekends and holidays this fall. The renaissance festival is always one of the best things to do on the weekend in the Boston area. Right now, you can score King Richard’s Faire discount tickets for over 30% off with this special deal!

King Richard’s Faire Admission is normally $34 for adults, $17 for children ages 4-11, and children under 4 are free. Tickets purchased online have a $2 surcharge per ticket and tickets purchased at the gate must be paid by cash only. But if you go through Goldstar, you can get King Richard’s Faire discount tickets for about $10 off standard prices.

Other Ways to Save on King Richard’s Faire Tickets

While the Goldstar deal is the best current offer on tickets to King Richard’s Faire, there are some other ways you can save money.

If you plan to visit the festival for opening weekend, they normally offer a deal where you can get $2 off admission with a printable King Richard’s Faire coupon valid on full-price admission! As of the time of this article’s publication, they haven’t announced if this deal will be available for 2019.

Going with a group? Groupon Boston currently has discount tickets for $48.99 for two tickets (28% off) or $84.99 for four tickets (38% off) Keep in mind that promo codes will not work on this offer and the deal is only valid for select dates so make sure to read on all terms before purchasing.

AAA Members can normally save on tickets (in past years, members could save $6 on admission when buying online — $4 on the ticket price plus $2 in fees) or you can save $2 with coupon at the gate. The AAA King Richard’s Faire promo code last year was AAANE-18, so this year it will likely be AAANE-19 if the deal is offered again. As of the time of this article’s publication, they haven’t announced if this deal will be available for 2019.

You may also want to keep an eye out a local Walgreen’s or Costco as you may find King Richard’s Faire coupons there as well during the festival season!

And lastly, you may want to head over to King Richard’s Faire’s Facebook page where they share free tickets on Fridays as well as other deals.

Thinking about seeing Blue Man Group in Boston? The show is like nothing you’ve ever seen, combining music, comedy, and technology to deliver family-friendly entertainment everyone loves. Of course, tickets to the show can get costly, but fortunately, there are ways you can score Blue Man Group Boston discount tickets and coupons!

Right now, you can get 50% off tickets through Goldstar, and there are a few other ways to save that we’ll discuss below.

Blue Man Group Boston Prices

Blue Man Group Boston ticket prices vary depending on the day and time you’d like to attend, but generally, they start around $45 and go as high as $100 or more.

Thankfully, there are ways you can easily access Blue Man Group discount tickets in Boston.

Ways to Save with Blue Man Group Boston Discount Tickets

If you are looking for discounted tickets to the Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse in Boston, the best way to save is through Goldstar Boston where you can get 50% off regular prices.

In the past, college students and military members could receive discount tickets to Blue Man Group in Boston for $35 with an ID. This offer may change at any time, so click here to see the current deals available for students and military.

About Blue Man Group

Blue Man Group first appeared in 1987 when friends Chris Wink, Matt Goldman, and Phil Stanton began staging what they called “creative disturbances” on the streets of Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Those performances drew enough attention to land the group performances at the Astor Place Theatre in 1991, and the rest is history. Today, Blue Man Group tour worldwide, have released Grammy-nominated certified gold albums, and have been purchased by legendary surreal circus group Cirque du Soleil.

Blue Man Group performances center around the trio’s driving, drum-driven music which incorporate otherworldly instruments the group has created themselves. Aside from the music, their performances feature a cerebral mix of visual art and comedy sketches which draw upon themes of cutting-edge science and technology, information overload, societal pressures and cultural norms, and the state of being an outsider – all done without the group speaking a single word.

If you want to catch this legendary group live in Boston, now’s your chance. Blue Man Group will be at the Charles Playhouse throughout the month of April performing a 90-minute show recommended for ages 7 and up. Be aware that the show may not be appropriate for everyone as it features loud music, strobe lights, and lots of sensory stimulation; in fact, sensory overload is one of the core themes of the show.
