Blush Paper Co. Blog - Pittsburgh Luxury Wedding Invitations
Blush Paper Co., a Pittsburgh based full-service stationery design studio who loves bringing your dreams to life. Founded in 2006 by graphic designer Jennifer Gebrosky, Blush Printables was created out of her love for pretty patterns and passion for creating paper goods.
Engagement season is upon us, and brides are searching everywhere for inspiration! One of the first things you probably do is choose your color scheme, and we’re here to help. These are our most the Popular Color Schemes for Weddings in 2018, so we’ve put together our suggestions for paper color, ink and envelopes.
There were just too many fine details in this suite from Meghan and Jourdans October wedding, and I can’t wait to share them all! Meghan contacted me a year in advance wanting a custom suite with a monogram. She wanted something modern and chic to compliment her monochromatic color palette, and I think we did an incredible job! We created all of the elements for the invitation, carried it through her reply card and reception enclosure card, then carried it through her belly band and monogram tag. We used luxe cotton paper, slate grey envelopes and grey letterpress paired with olive green digital printing on her enclosure cards to create this stunning Grey, Olive and Cream Letterpress Wedding Invitation suite.
Slate envelopes complimented the letterpress perfectly, while a champagne belly band coordinated wonderfully with the envelope liners. A custom monogram tag rested on each belly band, tying the entire suite together.
It will take you seconds to fall in love with Heather’s Marsala, Gold and Blush Wedding invitations. Heather and Jason wanted a custom design that would fit in with their fall wedding and reception at the Omni William Penn. Her color palette of marsala, blush and gold fit right in with the decor at the Omni, and Heather wanted a soft and romantic design that reflected their wedding theme and personalities.
We printed their invitations on our double-thick cotton stock, then letterpressed the entire suite using black ink. The lace details and signature line in their reply card were foiled in a gorgeous gold foil, and the entire suite was tied together with a marsala silk dupioni ribbon. Each invitation suite was tucked into a metallic blush envelope, which was lined with an antique gold liner, and each envelope was sealed with a custom monogram wax seal. This luxe suite has been one of my favorite to work on, and was such a treasure to each guest who was invited to their October wedding!
This year has flown by, and I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving! I’m getting so excited to eat my nana’s lasagna (did you know I’m a vegetarian?!) and see all of my family for a huge Thanksgiving dinner.

We’ll be closed Thanksgiving day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, along with New Years Eve and New Years Day. You know when you tear up viewing a couples wedding gallery they’ve made a huge impact on your life! Working with Jessica and Craig over the last six months or so has been nothing short of an amazing experience. She came to me last winter, telling me all about their fall wedding at Rustic Acre Farms. She dreamed of getting married under a willow tree and envisioned a lush bouquet as she walked down the aisle to marry the love of her life. The tree — the inspiration behind the entire suite — is what truly got us started. I carried Jessica’s floral vision throughout her invitations and together we designed rustic Peach, Sage and Gold Floral Wedding Invitations.
The peach, sage and gold details printed beautifully on our thick, cotton stock. Judith Browne Calligraphy provided the stunning hand lettering on our peach envelopes in a beautiful gold ink.
We carried Jessica and Craig’s monogram over to their booklet program, printed on our champagne shimmer stock, and tied it with a pretty pink bow. Programs were displayed in a vintage desk as guests entered the ceremony site!
And, let’s not forget the reception! Their crest was re-designed and used on their menu cards which were carefully tucked into peach napkins. GORGEOUS!!
Curious about wedding programs? Thought so. They’re one of our most asked about day of items.
Programs are usually given out at your ceremony. They let guests know what’s going on, who’s who, and any other important information you want to relay. In terms of quantity, we recommend having half of your guest count printed (so one per couple!) unless you’re having them placed at seats.
Including your order of ceremony is always nice, especially if you’re having an interfaith wedding. If you’re including any special religious or cultural traditions, feel free to explain why. If it means a lot to you, your guests will love to know about it!
Let everyone know who is standing up there with you! List the bridal party, your parents and grandparents and even the officiant in your wedding programs.
Are you getting married on a special date? Share the reason why! Not everyone will know that you’re getting married on the anniversary of your first date!
Include a personal thank you note in your wedding programs. It’s such a sweet touch, and the perfect place to honor the loved ones who can’t be there with you that day.
Well, my friends, I can finally say the cat is out of the bag. It’s time to wish my darling friend Phebe a happy one year anniversary… and announce that we’ve been featured in the Fall issue of the Knot Magazine! If you haven’t had a chance to pick it up on stands, you can catch the issue online and check us out on page 98! Keeping this a secret has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. If you know me, I can’t keep a secret to save my life! I’m so excited to be sharing these Hand Painted Floral Rose Quartz and Serenity Wedding Invitations with you today!
Phebe, of MakingMeEvents, and I have known each other for years. We’ve been long time friends, having met years ago through another colleague in the industry. When she asked me to design her wedding invitations, I seriously cried tears of joy. It was such a tremendous compliment, and such a joy for me, to be able to do this for someone I love so much. Watching her and Mike fall in love over the years – and then to be a small part of their wedding day – was such an honor.
We started her invitations with a custom wedding crest, which easily became the centerpiece of her stationery. We carried pieces of the crest throughout the remainder of her wedding stationery (you’ll see it pop up in lots of places!) and branded her entire wedding from top to bottom. Inspired by her wedding venue, Grandview Estates, and bouquet, her entire invitation suite was hand painted then printed on our 130# cotton paper. Truly one of a kind piece, we tied her Rose Quartz and Serenity Wedding Invitations together with hand dyed ribbon and completed the look with a shimmery blush envelope liner.
Curious about wedding monograms and how to use them? We like to call them wedding logos! Oh yes, we love branding weddings and it all starts with your wedding monogram. It’s the easiest way to tie your paper goods together, and what better way to start than with a custom crest? You can use them on virtually anything, from your return address and menu cards, to your invitation itself and to your aisle runner. We’ve had clients turn them into decals for their wedding floors, used on wedding welcome tote bags, have their baker pipe their monogram onto their cake, and my all time favorite? ON COOKIES.
Here are some of our top tips:
Old school etiquette says that you should save your new last name monogram until after you’ve been married. Most of our brides opt to use their first initials, but we’ve been known to break a few rules. Shh!
Simple monograms looks amazing on wax seals. You can use both of your first two initials (“M+A”) or new newly shared last name initial. We can incorporate a design element from your stationery, too, like a rose, laurel wreath or other decorative element to tie it all together.
Consider why you’re using a wedding monogram, then elaborate on that. Getting married outside? Awesome, let’s incorporate flowers. Having a modern minimalist wedding? Sounds great, maybe we should stick with just your initials and no other elaborate details. Carry your personalities into your crest and don’t be afraid to have a little fun with it!
