Okay, everyone. Time to set your auto OOO (out of office) email responses and unplug for the three-day weekend. Any time you have a long weekend it’s all about recharging, relaxing, and having some fun in the sun. Kudos to you if you’re planning on completely ignoring your email inbox! Whether you’re staying in town or heading on a quick trip, the last thing you should be worried about is figuring out what to wear. So sit back and relax-I’ve got you covered. Here are some easy outfit ideas to make your long weekend style on point.
Preppy Patio Party Style
Preppy style is all about clean cuts, nautical inspiration, and tailored looks – everything you see in this outfit. This navy dress is great for a weekend patio party filled with a friendly game of badminton and cold beverages. The shoulder frills add the perfect feminine touch while the striped sweater tied around the waist and structured cognac crossbody polishes off the look for a flawless preppy outfit.
Boho Beach Time
For those who plan on running after the ice cream truck for a bomb pop on the beach (guilty), wear a loose tropical sundress. A tie waist adds shape without being restricting and the sleeveless style will help with your base tan to catch the first rays of the season. Add a cute tassel crossbody bag to tie the look together. (After all, you need something to carry the money to pay the ice cream man!)
Cozy Camping Chic
For chilly nights by the campfire, layer some cozy plaid over denim shorts for a laidback outdoorsy look. Pastel and bright color summer plaids replace the black, navy, and red plaids of fall and winter. Even if you’re a glamping type of lady, this comfy ensemble will be a practical and chic outfit for nights spent outdoors. Don’t forget the s’mores!
Nothing says summer like hanging up fresh new pieces in your closet. You’ll always have your staples like crisp whites, lightweight linens, and pretty patterns, but longer hemlines, softer prints, and sporty streetwear are taking over this season. Here’s a complete guide to the emerging trends and essential summer clothes you won’t be able to live without. Okay, that may be a tad dramatic, but seriously, they’re that good.
Honestly, we should just stop right here (but we won’t). Bike shorts are the #1 must-have piece of the season and for good reason. They’re easily the most versatile piece you could add to your summer wardrobe. Sure, you can style them with a t-shirt and a denim jacket, but you can also pair them with a flowy tunic or oversized button-up for a more elevated (but equally fashion-forward) look.
If you’re not already, you’re about to become an animal print addict. This summer, all (cat) eyes are on all of the amazing variations of leopard print. Spotted in the urban jungle plastered practically on everything under the sun–skirts, shoes, tops, dresses– it’s safe to say that any leopard printed piece you invest in will be on frequent rotation until fall. No matter how you decide to walk on the wild side, this fierce feline pattern just might become your new favorite neutral.
Matching sets are no longer just for hitting the gym. It’s an effortless outfit formula (seriously, it doesn’t get much easier than this) that looks insanely chic and hits peak comfort level. Having a coordinating set handy in your closet ensures packing for all of your summer vacays is a breeze. It’s a cozy travel outfit and you can mix and match the individual pieces with other items in your carry on once you’ve arrived.
See ya later, short shorts. Sensible shorts are a fuss-free trend that just so happens to be, well, everywhere this summer. The longer length might seem intimidating for those on the shorter side, but you can easily cuff them to customize the length to your height. Full disclosure: you may be tempted to play Kokomo by the Beach Boys every time you wear them (Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama…).
Shorts aren’t the only item getting a little extra length this season. Dresses and skirts in a midi length are taking over both in street style and formal wear. Whether you have a wedding (or 10) coming up or a beachside vacation, reach for a midi instead of a maxi or a mini. You won’t have to fuss over the perfect in-between length and you’ll look like you just borrowed an outfit from an Instagram influencer. Not to mention, the more conservative hemline makes it an office-friendly trend, too. We love a piece that does it all.
Everything from one-shoulder tops and flutter sleeves to puffed shoulders and off-the-shoulder numbers is taking over this summer. It’s an easy way to take a familiar piece like a t-shirt or a tank and freshen it up. This romantic trend is perfectly suited for elevating your street style or adding a sassy element to your next night out. Rule of thumb: don’t be afraid to go a little bit extra. The bigger the statement, the better!
If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a million times–florals are trending (and forever will be). There’s something inherently timeless about florals but we love the fresh new ways they’re constantly being reinvented. This season, it’s vintage-inspired prints that are taking over. Oversized tropical prints are being swapped for dainty bouquets and romantic florals for a softer take on this classic pattern. Try out pieces with roses, daisies or wildflowers on flowing silhouettes to totally nail the look.
Calling all petite ladies! Got short girl problems? Yep, me too. With a standing height of 5’2″ (though my doctor tells me 5’1.5″ and just won’t give me the half inch), I’ve developed some fashion hacks over the years to accentuate my petite body type. Essentially, what this means is that I wear silhouettes that define my waist and enhance my leg length.
I had the opportunity to head to the Wantable headquarters to try on some of their petite-friendly styles recommended by their stylists. After having some fun in the photo studio, I picked out my favorite outfits to share. That’s right–the lady featured below is yours truly! Read on for some awesome outfit ideas and tips on how to dress for a petite body type.
1. Wear long vests with high waisted denim
Starting out with a bang! This outfit was my absolute favorite out of all of the looks. Whenever I can, I try to wear long pieces that elongate my body. It can be tough to do this without giving the appearance that I’m wearing an ill-fitted item that is unintentionally too long (I’m looking at you, midi-dresses). Wearing a long open vest is one of the best hacks to looking taller. The long length elongates my frame without hiding my waistline. Tuck your top into high waisted denim under the vest for the ultimate long leg illusion.
2. Wear dresses that stop just above the knee
I have found that the just-above-the-knee length is the optimal dress length for my height. This hemline is a great style that shows off my legs to add some length to my frame while still staying work-appropriate. Plus, adding nude heels to the bare leg offers the optical illusion of never-ending legs!
3. Pull up waistbands to hip length
Whenever possible, I try to can elongate the leg line and shorten the torso. Proportion is everything! But if you’re a short girl like me, most tops fall below my waist. Sigh. On the bright side, if your top has a waistband, you’re in luck! Fight the impulse to pull the waistband down all the way and instead shimmy it up to your hips. The elastic will keep your top at the perfect length. Don’t forget to cuff your jeans to avoid the dreaded bunching at your ankles.
4. Wear striped denim with a cropped jacket
When I tried on these jeans, I did not want to take them off. The jeans not only fit my short legs perfectly in terms of inseam, but they also have electric yellow stripes running down each leg. Stripes running down the seam of your jeans will visually extend the leg while a cropped silhouette adds a flattering and on-trend dimension to your outfit. Pair these two styles together and you’ve got it made!
5. Turn a blouse into a tie waist top.
You already know by now (after I’ve repeated myself a million times) that showing off the waistline is a surefire way to visually extend the legs. I own so many tops that would fall perfectly at the waist on a taller girl but hang too low on me. The solution? Unbutton the bottom two or three buttons on your blouse and tie the loose ends together for a cute way to make a too-long top more flattering for your body type.
So, you’re a mom. You tackle the day without skipping a beat, manage your family’s ever-changing schedules, and somehow still find time to sleep (maybe–or was that just a blink?). No matter what your day consists of, you shouldn’t be restricted to outdated notions of what “mom style” looks like. We’ve gathered four mom-approved outfits that break beyond the stereotypes and instantly make you a style expert.
You’re the Wind(breaker) Beneath My Wings
Consider this our ode to the windbreaker comeback. Undoubtedly the style star of the season, this ’80s and ’90s inspired trend will instantly revamp your casual streetwear. Whether you’re taking the kiddos on a walk or heading out for a day of errands, just pair it with relaxed denim and a basic tank (or tee) for a style-savvy ensemble.
We’ve gotta hand it to you, moms. The amount of things that you’re able to accomplish in a day is astounding. Heading from drop-off to the office to a PTO meeting calls for an outfit that can do it all. Pair a colorful chino with a boldly printed top and a black blazer for an insanely stylish work-to-wherever look.
Eat. Sleep. Caffeinate. Repeat.
There are definitely moments when it feels like you just can’t catch a break (we’ve all been there). The last thing you want to worry about is what outfit you’re going to wear–especially if you also have little ones you have to get dressed. A simple t-shirt dress with a classic denim jacket is the perfect (and extremely comfortable) combo for those days where it’s hard to change out of your jammies.
Not a Regular Moto Jacket. A Cool Moto Jacket.
Okay, all moto jackets are cool in our opinion, but this pastel color really packs a punch. Finish your look with a printed blouse and clean black denim. Much like all of the kick-butt moms running the world, this ensemble exudes an unstoppable attitude. Concert outfit? Check. Dinner date? Check. Basically, it’s the mom outfit that does it all (just like you!).
While many of us are dutifully trying to decrease our phone usage, I have to admit there is one area that I am proud to log some extra screen time in: exercise apps. I have several on my phone right now and they have totally helped motivate me to workout harder and longer while adding some much-needed variety to my fitness routine. There are loads of exercise apps out there for just about every goal under the sun, but these 5 make it to the top of my list because they are effective (and fun) for any fitness fanatic.
Of all the exercise apps I’ve collected screen time over, this one has gotten the most use. Sweat has multiple programs that help women get on a workout plan that suits them. That’s right, it’s made just for women! I am on week 20 of PWR (power) which gives me workouts I can do at the gym without the steep price of a trainer. I also love BBG (Bikini Body Guide) because it’s so easy to do from home. The best part? BBG workouts are usually 28 minutes whereas PWR can take 55 minutes to complete.
Simple to use and refreshingly customizable, this app is perfect for someone that would like to begin exercising but doesn’t know where to start. All workouts can be done from your own home so it’s super convenient. My favorite part is that you can customize your own program by choosing workouts for the core, butt, legs, etc. based on your personal goals. I also love that workouts progressively become more difficult as you go so you will never hit a workout plateau.
Anna Victoria has 1.2M followers and has helped thousands of women on their fitness journey with her Fit Body Guides and now her Fit Body app. This app has three workout programs suited to each type of training. ‘Shred’ is all bodyweight, high-intensity workouts designed to shed fat, ‘Tone’ is a dumbbell based program with a 50/50 focus on both toning and fat loss, and ‘Sculpt’ is the gym-based strength training program designed to sculpt lean muscle.
This app has been the perfect compliment to my strength training as it adds balance and flexibility to my workouts with hundreds of modern yoga workouts from fat burn to strength. My favorite part about this one is that it offers mini-sessions that are great for busy schedules or adding 10-20 min of stretches to the end of any workout.
If you want to start building your yoga practice, this is a fantastic app to get you there. Choose from 7 different voice options, input your ability level and how much time you have, then get practicing. You can also choose from 12 different practice areas to sharpen a particular area or just rotate through them all.
If there’s one piece we all have in our closets–and if you don’t you really should–it’s a striped sweater. It’s a timeless piece that never goes out of style, effortlessly fits any aesthetic and easily works 365 days a year. However, reaching for the same piece over and over can be a bit of a double-edged sword. We love that it’s a fail-proof option, but it can be a bit tiresome to try and reinvent the wheel with the same piece over and over. To help you combat those what-to-wear blues, we’re here to help you style this wardrobe essential in fresh new ways.
Cool for the Summer
Pair your striped sweater with a denim skirt for the perfect summer-ready outfit. We love that this particular sweater has a wider neckline so that you can wear it slightly off the shoulder for a fully laid-back look. The real winner: its featherweight fabric. It ensures you won’t overheat even in rising temps.
Slay the Work Day
A track pant is a perfect way to give your tired trouser a modern update. Paired with the bold red stripes, your work-ready ensemble will feel anything but boring. Trust us, if you’re wearing these killer pieces, you’ll strut into the office ready to take on whatever the day has in store for you.
All Tied Up
Who said you had to wear your striped sweater as a top? Tie it around your waist or throw it over your shoulders for our favorite way to style this piece. It feels playful, carefree and totally unexpected. This option doubles as fashion and function on those days when you need a last minute layer. Two looks in one? Yes, please.
Style inspiration can come from anywhere around you. Walking down the street, scrolling on Instagram, or eyeing your coworker’s cute outfit in the break room (hey, we’ve all done it). But if we had to pick our No. 1 go-to for all things fashion, it would have to be celebrities. It turns out, we aren’t the only ones that feel this way. As our stylists get to know you–our amazing customers–they’ve found that there are four A-list celebrities in particular that inspire your wardrobe on a regular basis and we can totally understand why. Take a peek below to find out which stars are stealing the spotlight in street style.
The actor-turned-Duchess (#goals) has undoubtedly become one of the most famous style icons of our time. Her oh-so-chic wardrobe consisting of timeless pieces, minimal accessories and envy-inducing shoes makes it almost impossible to argue otherwise. While we can’t give you a palace, we can give you closet staples that will help you exude her classy style. Opt for ultra-tailored silhouettes, subtle prints, and polished designs to channel your inner royalty.
We bow down to you, Blake. Her modern menswear-inspired looks are way too good not to steal. We admire her ability to push the boundaries and challenge gender norms when it comes to fashion. Have you seen her pantsuits lately?! Seriously stunning. To achieve her sophisticated and daring style, pair your favorite blazer with a casual tee and trendy pair of blue jeans. We love the tuxedo stripe running down the side to fully nail her aesthetic.
To be frank, we’re still mourning the loss of Fixer Upper (thank goodness for reruns). Not only do we miss the amazing reveals, but we also miss seeing which outfits Joanna would wear each episode (and going on a frantic Google search to try and find them). Her looks are approachable and, better yet, easily achievable. If you want to give your wardrobe a Gaine’s-style renovation, reach for some relaxed denim, a t-shirt and a utility jacket for the finishing touch. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
Actress, activist, and all-around amazing woman America Ferrera exudes elegance in everything that she does, including her fashion choices. Whether she’s strutting the red carpet or owning it as a producer on set, you can often find her flattering her gorgeous hourglass figure with waist-accentuating details and v-necklines. To emulate her slightly-retro style, try out jumpsuits (with a belt or tie, of course), pencil skirts, feminine details and playful patterns.
So, you’re not the biggest fan of working out, eh? That’s okay–you are most definitely not alone in this thinking! I mean, why work out when there are about a billion other things on your to-do list, right? But here’s the thing: working out is essentially free therapy and great for the mind, body, and soul. If you are struggling to find the motivation or desire to exercise, we’ve got you covered here with some tips on making working out a part of your daily routine.
Pencil it in.
As a busy mom who works from home, I can totally relate when people say there simply isn’t enough time in the day to work out. So what do I do to combat this mentality? I literally write my workouts into my daily schedule. To me, the benefits (both physically and mentally) of working out are just as important as that work call that I have scheduled or the deadline that’s fast approaching. If it’s written into my calendar as part of my day, I am far more likely to get it done, and I am always happy I did!
Remind yourself of your “why.”
To me, this is SUCH a powerful tool to really getting your body moving: Remembering your “why”- or the reason you want to lead a healthy lifestyle. Do you want to feel better from the inside out? Is it to be a good role model for your kids? Are you hoping to feel younger and more energetic? Whatever your reason, remind yourself of that whenever you’re having trouble starting.
Join a gym.
If you’re paying to do something, you are far more likely to actually do it! By paying a membership to a gym or fitness group, you will find yourself showing up a lot more. Think about it, if you don’t show up, you’re literally throwing money away (and nobody wants to do that).
Have an accountability partner.
This one is so helpful. Have a friend, family member or significant other who you can text back and forth to motivate each other to work out. Having an accountability partner is a game changer. I highly recommend finding someone to text words of encouragement throughout the day to keep you accountable and make sure you don’t quit. This might be the push you need to get moving in the morning!
The start of the spring season is all about new beginnings. Whether you’re setting new goals or simply looking to revive your routine, your workout uniform also deserves a refresh. After all, prepping your closet for spring isn’t just about refreshing your street style–it’s important to show your workout wardrobe some love, too! Get inspired to get moving by Glyder’s latest collection of fashion-forward pieces in soft spring colors.
Fresh Piece: Lightweight Thermal Pullover
This pullover combines everything we love into one easy piece–a lightweight yet cozy thermal fabric, a relaxed hood and cuffed sleeves. The sandy color is the neutral we never knew we needed in our fitness wardrobes (but are so happy it’s a thing).
Revive Your Routine: Yoga
Yoga is incredibly beneficial no matter where you’re at in your fitness journey. Instructors often offer modifications for more challenging poses and the judgment-free zone allows you to try new things or rest in child’s pose whenever you need it. This pullover is a great piece for yoga whether you’re trying out a class or doing a 10-minute practice at home. Throw it on for savasana or over your sports bra as you head out for errands.
Fresh Piece: Icy Blue Sports Bra
This icy-blue hue featured throughout the collection is our new favorite neutral. It’s basically the chambray of fitness fashion. AKA it pairs with everything. And just when we thought it couldn’t possibly get any better, the strappy back detail swoops in to prove us wrong (if this is what it feels like to be wrong we never want to be right).
Revive Your Routine: HIIT
If you’re a busy bee with an endless to-do list, give high-intensity interval training a try this spring. This incredibly versatile workout is easy to customize and adjust for beginners and advanced trainers alike. Designed for high impact activities, this sports bra is the perfect piece to wear to HIIT class. You’ll feel supported in this fashion-forward piece from start to finish.
Fresh Piece: Tonal Print 7/8 Legging
If you’re tired of your basic black leggings, these are the fail-proof solution. Their neutral print is subtle enough to pair with just about everything so you’ll never feel restricted when it comes to figuring out what to wear.
Revive Your Routine: Running
The best part about running is you can pretty much do it anytime, anywhere so you’ll never be restricted by your schedule or location. Plus, you can take things at your own pace and take walk breaks when needed to help you get started. With a hidden pocket in the waistband, these leggings are a no-brainer when you’re headed out for a run.
Fresh Piece: Modern Floral Tank
A laser-cut floral design paired with one of our favorite spring colors makes this tank a must-have piece this season. The shape lightly skims your silhouette for a comfortable fit that will stay in place throughout your workout.
Revive Your Routine: Barre
Barre is a great workout if you’re looking to switch things up. Inspired by ballet, pilates, yoga and strength training, you definitely won’t get bored with the ever-changing (and super fun) classes. As an added bonus, the pretty laser-cut design on this tank will provide extra breathability when you’re holding chair pose for an extra 8 count.
Fresh Piece: Classic Pocket Tee
The best part about this versatile tee is that it works just as well for your workout wardrobe as it does for your casual street style. The relaxed boyfriend silhouette feels perfectly undone and won’t restrict you as you move throughout your day.
Revive Your Routine: Walking
f you’re trying to jumpstart a more active lifestyle, walking is a great place to start. It has so many health benefits and serves as a great foundation to build upon when you’re ready to increase intensity. Just doing 30 minutes a day can make an impact! You can even turn it into a social outing by walking to brunch with friends. This tee will effortlessly transition from your stroll to sitting on the patio.

Celebrating and taking care of the Earth doesn’t have to be limited to one day, but I love that we get to show the planet some extra love on April 22nd. It’s a particularly powerful day when you think about the fact that people from all over the globe are working towards the same goal. Whether you celebrate Earth Day with family, friends, or take on a solo mission, there are many ways to show your gratitude that are both fun and impactful. Here are a few easy to implement ideas that you can do 365 days a year:
We’ve all been to the beach and seen trash left behind. You pick it up, throw it out and move on with your day. What if you started to make a habit of doing an hour or two of that? What a huge difference that can make! Of course, you can clean up any public area near you. Grab some friends, meet up at your favorite local haunt and brighten it up.
One of the most memorable Earth Day activities I’ve had was from my early adulthood. I lived with 5 girls and we turned off all the electricity in the house and didn’t use devices. In honor of “Earth Hour,” we just talked by candles. We ate snacks that required no electricity to make and had so much fun turning-off for a bit and simply connecting with each other.
Shop With a Reusable Bag
Shopping with a reusable bag replaces disposing of so many of the paper and plastic bags you get at the grocery store or a boutique. Offered in many colors and designs, they even look stylish as you head around town picking up your necessities. Their ability to fold down into a small size makes it easy to tote them around or keep in your car. You never know when you might need it!
Buy New Consciously
There are loads of brands now that make eco-friendly clothes, give back to charitable causes or often, both. One of my favorite athleisure brands, Spiritual Gangster (makers of this sweatshirt I got from my last Wantable Edit as seen below) donates proceeds to provide a meal to a person in need through their partnership with Feeding America and has donated 11 million meals donated to date. Beyond Yoga, which can also be found in your Wantable Fitness Edits, is dedicated to transparent, ethical practices that support the people that help make the clothes possible.
Ride Your Bike
You’ve likely seen or even participated in a ‘ride your bike day’ in some capacity whether it be at work or school, but did you keep the momentum going? On Earth Day, wake up a little earlier and bike to work, school or both if you can. One way to shuttle younger kids is a box bike. I use mine daily to get around our city and it’s allowed us to be a one car family which has been impactful for the planet and our family budget as well as being loads of fun for the kids and their friends. Of course, that’s not possible for everyone depending on your climate, but there’s bound to be more eco-friendly (and fun) ways you can get around when weather permits.
