Recently, as in Sunday October 1st, 2017…okay maybe not so recent, but it’s only 11 days ago, jeez, No Limit Motorsport, of Medford, New York, hosted a BBQ for fellow car nuts, Long Island Needs a Drag Strip or LINADS as we will affectionately refer to them. But, before we get into it, we already know what’s going through your mind “oh great, another blog about some car meet/bbq, so what and who cares?” and you know something, in most cases, you’d be right. However, this BBQ is extremely important, monumental even. It will forever go down in the history of domestic vs. import, muscle vs. exotic, Ford vs. Chevy, Subaru vs. Evo…I think you get the point, as a symbolic gesture delineating the unification of bad ass cars and those that love them!

To give a little context for those of you that don’t know, LINADS was started approximately a little over a year ago, by a local Long Island racing family, John Cozzali, his wife Kathy, and step-son John Consoli. In a recent discussion with John Consoli, while attending their weekly Tuesday night meet at Jesus is Lord Church, located on North Ocean Ave just south of the Long Island Expressway, John said that LINADS is the birth child of his step-father’s frustration of sitting in traffic to and from race tracks in other states. While begrudgingly sitting in traffic, Mr. Cozzali had an epiphany to bring a drag strip back to Long Island, and as the saying goes “the rest is history”. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get back to why this BBQ/meet, is so important. In a world full of hate and division it is incredible to see two groups of likeminded people with such passion and love, so dedicated to bridging the gaps that isolate and alienate so many of us. Who would have known that something so simple as unifying the different categories of cars (muscle, import, exotic, domestic) could have such a prolific impact on not only the car community, but the local communities themselves! With the smell of fresh burgers in the air, the sun glistening off the cars, it was truly great seeing friends and families enjoying the event.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the members of Long Island Needs a Dragstrip, all of our staff and loyal customers, but most importantly, those that continue to bridge the gap. Until next time, have a safe and warm winter, we look forward to seeing you in the spring!

Our own salesman Rich’s Evo has come a long way from its bolt on power. We took on the build with an incredible list of parts in hopes to make numbers for the record books. After all was assembled and installed, we hit the dyno for tuning. To break in the motor, the RIP STI Evo made over 600whp and 500tq! Keep in mind this was all done on a mainline dyno, low reading numbers compared to most other dynamometers. Once the break in was complete, we hopped back on the rollers to give her a go with some serious boost, timing and ethanol. On e75 and roughly 35psi, with minimal timing she made over 700! We ran into an issue with the ignition, so once she gets her upgraded coil packs, shell hit the rollers again and see what she can do at near 50psi of boost and almost pure 98% ethanol! stay tuned for the final numbers. Alex’s Ford Fiesta ST is a project of his that has been progressing towards impressive power and great track times. He has begun to join the ranks of auto-cross and the racing community. This is what you would call a perfect sleeper, from the outside you wouldn’t know that its making more power than the majority of cars on the road! A friend of our office manager Phil was approached regarding a possibly SR20DET build by his personal friend Miguel. Miguel was very particular about what he wanted and how much power he wanted to make. After a very detailed and meticulous build, the car is in its final stages. The overall goal was to have an extremely powerful show car where every single feature was a top priority. As we near its completion, we are in awe of the results and cant wait to post final dyno numbers and completion pictures! Thanks to everyone involved in the build of this beauty.

Every year the people at Wicked Big Meet gather thousands of Subaru enthusiasts from the tri-state area to gather in one place for a boxer filled showdown. It offers everything from auto cross racing, car show and awards, flash sales from great vendors, a chance to meet famous car drivers that we are all so fond of. It is a great event that NLM has been a part of for a few years and continuing the tradition in 2017. We will have a booth setup with a few of our cars to show as well as the chance to say hello and possibly get advice or even plan the next step in parts for your build!
