Do you have a personal office? Do you feel that even despite the hot IKEA designs and carefully curated look, it still lacks that special something? That one nuance that ties the whole place together and makes it truly yours, truly contemporary. Well, this is where motivational prints come into play! Both lauded and laughed at for their undeniably appealing look and their tendency to be used wherever it’s possible, prints featuring motivational quotes are actually something you should look up to. Here’s why!

They Are Actually Capable of Boosting Productivity

Right, this is somewhat a subject of a heated discussion, so it’s worth adding right here that motivational prints are known to affect individuals differently. While some, as implied in this The Guardian piece by neuroscientist Dean Burnett, might experience the sensation of overjustification, others might actually benefit from the constant, low-dose stimulation motivational posters provide. Now, as for the solution, it’s pretty straightforward – make sure to pick the right wall art. The quote should be clever (as these involve employees on a more intellectual plane) and the visuals down to earth.

It is also worth mentioning that motivational prints for offices work on an entirely different level. While fear of superiors and tight schedules affect your external motivation, decorative elements, say, a shiny aluminium photo print with a powerful quote, are known to caress our internal motivation. While this does not guarantee instant goal achieving, little spurts of internal motivation can reignite our personal ambition and accumulate our inner energy!

They Can Express Your Brand’s/Company’s Philosophy

No matter how much you try, it’s near impossible to create an office interior that doesn’t resemble something that’s already there. In case you feel ready to challenge giants such as Google, AIRBnB or Facebook, you either have to own a fortune or an incredibly resourceful interior design consultant. Alternatively, you can use a simple, yet sophisticated aluminium photo print that concisely expresses everything your brand is about in three words. Apart from finding your dream print on Pinterest, you can easily design the inspirational quote photo by yourself, making it a truly unique design feat as a product coming from a truly unique perspective.

They Can Provide Your Team with Additional Creative Practices

Referring back to the crucial role that individuality plays in our reading of motivational prints, it’s worth keeping in mind that a single print should, not as a rule, reflect the opinions or feelings of the whole office. Everyone is motivated by different stimuli, so it’s normal that everyone is entitled to their own unique wall art piece. This, in fact, can be turned into an engaging activity that unites the team and strengthens its spirit. All you need to know are Canva.com, where your teammates can experiment with thousands of beautiful designs, and My-picture.co.uk, the best platform for printing them out! The process is quick, simple and doesn’t break the bank, which is particularly important for up-and-coming startups!

They’re Simple to Make and Great to Look At

Continuing the previously expressed thought, there’s hardly anything simpler than designing inspirational quotes. Whether you pick a visually appealing sunset photo and lay over a beautiful sentence in some of the most basic editing software at your disposal, or aim for a trendy minimalist approach, both options will take virtually no more than 10 minutes to make. The same can be said about the printing process. Using My-Picture.co.uk, you’re subscribing for a service that does not waste any time. Your solvent-free, pin-sharp canvas photo print for your office will arrive at your doorstep looking just as beautiful as it did on the preview screen.

Biased or not, we can all agree that these simple messages with mostly solid backgrounds have an undeniable charm about them. In an age where the idea of personal entrepreneurship is more prominent than ever, having one of these will surely do no harm!

Thinking of elevating the personalised office space concept to a new level? Make sure to visit the photo gifts section on My-Picture.co.uk to make your employees feel truly appreciated! Personalised photo mouse pads and photo mugs are little additions that will significantly alter the atmosphere in your blossoming enterprise!

On paper, ordering your new canvas print sounds like something that requires little effort. In the matter of a few clicks, you upload your photo, customize it according to your preferences, insert the necessary data at checkout, and voila – your interior has acquired an additional piece of decor. However, reality often turns out way more confusing than this simple premise. To set some clarity with regards to the whole process, the photo printing experts at My-Picture.co.uk are here to break it into four essential stages. So, here are the 4 steps you should keep in mind the next time your order your new canvas print.

1.Uploading Process and Customization

The first stage involves the customization of your canvas with our built-in tools. After you upload your photo, as standard, you’ll be presented with a selection screen that offers customization of the image (colours, saturation) and the framework itself. Although the choices depend solely on your aesthetic preference, it is widely known that some frame designs fit better with monochrome imagery while others can visibly improve colourful photos. However, the most important thing is the edge design itself.

Such importance is not only because the edge design can significantly alter the appearance of the final composition. If the customer decides to go for the folded edge design, it can directly affect the quality of the final product! With this mind, it’s important for the customer to pick a photo that does not feature any important details positioned close to the border area. In the case that your photo does feature elements located near the edge, you just might lose a significant part of your photo. Therefore, if you still want to print that specific image, be advised to pick other edge designs (other than folded) that won’t sabotage the original photo.

If the results in the preview screen seem satisfying, you’re practically ready to order your print and pass the matter into the hands of the printing experts at My-Picture.co.uk. Prior, however, you’ll be directed to your cart where you can update your order with a specially made hanger set or enter a special coupon code if you have one to acquire a significant discount. Finally, you will be able to proceed to the secure checkout. After filling in the standard fields of information, you can pretty much consider yourself the owner of a new canvas print. However, there’s the other side of the story – the manufacturer’s side of things.

2. Manufacturing

First things first, after completing your checkout session, you have effectively initiated the production process of your order. Once the order is confirmed, your photo occupies a place in a waiting queue. If necessary, it will receive any final adjustments and enhancements and will be prepared to provide the best-looking visuals once printed on canvas. After this visual fine tuning, your photo is ready to be brought to life using HP latex inks that also provide UV protection.

Each canvas is a top-notch fabric piece with a quality that’s been recognized with a special certificate. The process is overlooked by professionals with years’ worth of experience. Once the digital reproduction is finished, the canvas is ready for stretching. Again, the whole operation is carried out by reliable masters of their craft, people who know how to stretch to achieve the perfect tension. After the cloth is stretched, it’s evenly stapled to the spruce wood framework – quality woodcraft that’s prepared and processed in a dedicated factory. Once the piece of decor is completed, we enter the final stage of the cycle. In the case of photo canvas print, the production period for one article does not take more than one working day!

3. Packaging and Delivery

Although some may view the packaging process as only a minor nuance in the bigger scheme of things, it is an essential step which sees your order prepared for what can be a very bumpy road. With this in mind, products from My-Picture.co.uk are packed to achieve the utmost safety. Covered in a special film and supported by pieces of foam rubber from all sides, your canvas is carefully placed in its cardboard hutch which will serve as it’s protective shell for the remainder of its journey. This is also the way your order will look once it reaches your doorstep.

After dispatching, the product starts its journey to your place. Normally, this takes no more than 3 to 12 business days depending on your geographic location and the ordered product. Regardless, it’s a quality that’s definitely worth the wait!

4. Setting up the Finished Piece

Does it all end with the arrival of the product? Well, not exactly. Setting up canvas decor can be somewhat of a very frustrating experience. While the whole ordeal is significantly alleviated with the special hanger set (the one you can add to your cart while shopping on My-Picture.co.uk), good improvisation is what you might need to resort to if you decided to go for a bare canvas photo print.

Luckily, there are multiple ways of setting up your wall decor without using the special hanger set. You can go either for wires, special adhesives, a pegboard wall, or simply position your canvas as a stand-alone decor on the shelving above your work desk. A good, cleverly positioned canvas print will look good in any interior!

As a Side Note: Additional Items for Every Occasion

Although we chose to emphasize photo canvas since it’s somewhat of a flagman product, My-Picture.co.uk offers a wide variety of high-quality items that are all customizable with your own photos. Apart from photo gifts, the store also has a special Home & Lifestyle section which basically allows you to fully customize your bedding set. Besides fluffy, fine-satin photo cushions, there’s also the wonderful photo blanket option.

With standard and premium versions on the shelf, you can acquire hypoallergenic, odourless print work and the incredibly soft flannel fleece blanket that’s perfectly suitable for both picnics and actual beds. Infinitely cuddleable and bearing an impressive, large-format image of your choice, it’s no wonder that the photo blanket has seen a surge in popularity during the last couple of years.

My-Picture.co.uk really requires no second-guessing when it comes to a reliable printing vendor. Make sure to give it a try with a test print of sorts just to understand how this thing works in practice if you are doubtful. Experience the 4 stages of creating a beautiful canvas art and pay what is probably the lowest price on the whole market!

If you have ever encountered a good-looking Pinterest mood board, you know what we’re talking about here. You understand the beauty of perfectly matched colours, sleek, catalogue-worthy interiors and, of course, an incredible piece(s) of wall art to tie the whole room together. Luckily, even with all its high-end gloss, a design like this is not too hard to mimic. The photo printing experts from My-Picture.co.uk are here to explore design hacks that will provide you with the ever-trendy Pinterest look with the help of a neat wall art collage!

Stylistically United Wall Art Collage

There’s nothing that gives off the Pinterest vibe more than a cleverly organized wall art collage. Mostly comprised of several different photo print formats (such as canvas, passe-partout, and wooden board), wall art collages usually are centred around the theme of a central wall art piece that sets the tone for the smaller wall art pieces nearby. The theme can be either a set of monochromatic sketches, sights captured during your travels, or some highly stylized, colourful abstractions. It’s really a matter of taste and imagination.

The Placement

Although the configuration and position of each wall art piece may appear to be random, more often than not, there’s a thought-out system behind it. Luckily, you don’t have to come up with your own because the web, including Pinterest itself, is filled with template packs that will aid you in your quest for the ultimate wall art collage. While not every template will suit your interior, there surely are plenty of variations to experiment with!

Picking the Right Wall Art Format

While formats such as acrylic and aluminium undeniably have their own unique perks, they are not necessarily seen featured in wall art collages often. And, that’s not without its reason. The issue is due to the conflicting visuals. While canvas photo prints, passe-partout, photo boards and photos on wood all share a kind of great organic quality, acrylic and aluminium prints with their glossy appeal simply do not fit the particular bill. However, it’s an entirely different deal if the whole collage is made of these shiny, high-end formats.

Once you pick any of the so-called “organic” formats and your preferred template, you’re all set to decide on the images you want to be printed on your new decor pieces. Of course, remember to take into account everything that’s stated in the second paragraph.

Are Wall Art Collages Even Still a Thing in 2018?

Although 2018 brought a lot of seismic changes to the world of interior design, having a well put together wall art collage is still a sign of a genuinely trendy place. While the departure of minimalism as the dominant design paradigm shook things up a bit, its substitute, the eclectic and bold design philosophy known as maximalism, welcomes the use of multiple wall art pieces and even embraces it. After all, it’s all about going bigger, bolder and more colourful!

Using My-Picture.co.uk for Your Wall Art Collage

Now, first things first, My-Picture.co.uk will definitely help you save some hard-earned money and create a wall art collage without breaking the bank. Secondly, despite the variety of formats (which in itself is not a mandatory thing), your order will arrive timely and packed for utmost safety. If there’s something that you should definitely keep in mind, then it’s the necessity for hanger sets. This will simply save you some time instead of wasting it on manually figuring out how to hang each and every piece. Essentially, you can arrange the whole collage with a single bulk purchase. Of course, you can also update it gradually. Even more so, the theme of your choice might require exactly this kind of approach (such as new additions to your family).

Going for the so-called Pinterest look is something that’s really becoming a common approach to designing one’s interior. That’s only natural since the site itself has become somewhat of a collective lookbook to borrow from. Feel free to use the vast design vocabulary it offers, and make sure to let My-Picture.co.uk take care of your new design additions!

Although it’s pretty obvious that summer 2018 is here to stay, poor interior design choices can often sweep the feeling away completely. Heavy, overwhelming decor elements, unfortunate colour juxtapositions and an unnecessarily stuffed living space can often leave one feeling deprived of oxygen. My-Picture.co.uk offers you five simple design hacks to turn your place into a genuine summer oasis!

Use Greens – A Lot of Them

An obvious choice since herbs and plants actually introduce nature into your interior. And, it’s not just a good way to produce some extra oxygen. Thanks to their lush appearance, plants can help create a very eco-infused appearance. Organic materials, rustic furnishings and regular jars for flower pots will create a combination that signals freedom, creativity and co-existence with nature. Looking particularly amazing in white-dominated interiors, greens are a true summer décor and are a living, breathing part of your interior. As a last resort, you can turn to printing tropical foliage on your cushions, blankets or any other interior element as botanica print motifs are another emerging trend!

Use Boho Chic Accessories – Don’t Be a Minimalist

The dawn of 2018 saw a great shift in the world of interior design. After years of exploitation, the world finally seems to have abandoned its fling with the Scandinavian minimalist aesthetic. While the style itself has no obvious flaws, it seems that the general public simply grew tired of it. Instead, we have a loud, colourful, eclectic mix of elements known as maximalism. Referencing Boho chic is another element of this new trend! Fabrics, draperies, ethnic motifs, patterns, rattan furnishings, distinct wall decorations – the new trend screams carefree attitude and looseness. It is a return to the flower power philosophy if you will.

Colours for Life

As a result of this new mix-it-all-together trend, it’s only natural that people are designing their surroundings to include as many different colours as possible. One of the most obvious design elements that’s been affected by this trend is doors. Whether it’s millennial pink or aquatic blue, your kitchen getaway or the central entrance, colourful doors are one of the key trends of summer 2018. Why not colour our everyday lives if we can?

Patterns & Textures (Everywhere)

Tiles, bed sheets, curtains, tablecloths, macrame – summer 2018 sees everything covered in bold and eye-catching textures! The Far East-inspired patterns, herringbones, and floral motifs will refresh any room you can think of! Mixing together cultural influences with vintage attributes and contemporary aesthetics (different shades of purple and neon decor) is what this season is all about!

Bold Wall Art

It’s not just a coincidence that our favourite stock photo websites are filled with aerial photos featuring sandy beaches. More so than ever, having a great, uplifting photo wall art is a thing to look after! Enough with dreary and emotionally oppressing minimalist depictions of big letters and monochrome landscapes (save them for autumn). Inspiring, lush and, at times, stylistically conflicting wall art is what you should aim for! Large-scale collages featuring numerous print formats are another trend that has been going for the last couple of years and has seen no decline in popularity.

Setting up your place for summer 2018 is not nearly as difficult as it seems. In fact, it’s all about letting your imagination roam freely. Make sure to use tones that inspire you, but keep your eye on the tones that define 2018 – ultraviolet, pastels, deep black and 80’s-inspired technicolour hues. The design keyword for the season: eclecticism.

Although aluminium prints are, by nature, a very compelling and visually impactful way of displaying your favourite photos, more often than not, customers find the process of setting them up a very frustrating experience. To clear the fog around the subject and offer you a simple explanation, here’s a little insight on how to hang an aluminium print for optimal visual impact!

Don’t Rely on Adhesives, Sticky Putty or Adhesive Hooks

First off, here is a quick preface on the essential don’ts when it comes to the topic of hanging aluminium prints. To begin with, you should pretty much drop the idea of using adhesives entirely. A simple and mostly effective alternative to traditional mounting practices, adhesives are simply too feeble for the sturdy aluminium composite panel. Although an undeniably mobile and easily transferable decor piece, in comparison with all the other wall decor formats available on My-Picture.co.uk, aluminium prints can be labelled as somewhat of a heavyweight item.

Hang for the Look

Even though the traditional set of nails and wire could easily keep the aluminium print where it’s supposed to, it’s not the best solution from the aesthetic point of view. Furthermore, it won’t affix the print completely, and the risk of an unintentional drop is still very much present. Lastly, nobody would like to manually drill holes in their precious aluminium sheet (which could get tricky in and on itself). When it comes to hanging aluminium prints, the floating appearance is what you should focus on!

Getting That Photo Gallery Look

There are 4 most commonplace methods of displaying aluminium prints, all of which involve some form of additional backing. The first one sees your aluminium print updated with a hefty metal frame.

Typically being 33 mm deep, it’s a great additional asset. Although the following somewhat contradicts the previously expressed thought on wire and nails as obsolete choices, the metal framework is usually affixed using either this system or mounting bracket. A similar technique is employed when one uses stand-out mounts, roughly 19 mm thick foam panels, that usually come in a variety of colours and are available in any nearby crafts or art supplies store.

Both can also come with a special hanging kit located on their back, a square-like formation with entries that are meant for securing the print to the wall with screws or by sliding it onto metal brackets that are secured to the wall with screws.

Stainless Steel Posts and Metal Plate Method

Stainless steel posts (also known as spacers) that go straight through the print is another neat way of acquiring a sophisticated gallery look. The method usually sees the barrel-like posts affixed directly to the wall with screws. This, however, also means that your print has to have four pre-drilled holes for the four respective posts.

Another option consists of a simple metal plate with a box-like kit on its back. This is the so-called floating mount. The aluminium print is once again attached to the plate with four stainless steel posts, while the finished composition is affixed to the wall by sliding the box-like hanging hardware on the back of the print onto screws that are pre-drilled into the wall. As an alternative, the hanging hardware can also be affixed to metal brackets.

This essentially explains the whole magic if there ever was any. The refined look of an aluminium print floating roughly 1,3 cm away from the wall is acquired with a combination of your print and four steel posts that pierce your print and are attached to a metal panel which, in turn, is affixed to the wall with screws or brackets. Additionally, the print can come with a mounting bracket attached to its back (as seen in the image above), which allows hanging your print for an instant floating appearance.

The potential backing solutions are:

  • Metal frame (requires wire and nails)
  • Foam board stand-out mount (usually attached with metal brackets)
  • Gatorboard block (usually attached with metal hanging brackets)
  • Stainless steel posts (4 posts piercing the print and affixed directly to the wall)
  • Floating mount (with four posts securing the print to the metal panel which is affixed by sliding it onto screws or metal brackets)
  • Shadow mount (a box-like formation attached directly to the back of the print and affixed by sliding it onto metal brackets or screws)

Depending on the method you’ve chosen, in order to hang your aluminium prints, you’ll need:

  • Hanging hardware (any of the abovementioned)
  • A screwdriver or a drill
  • Metal brackets
  • Level
  • Stud finder (to locate the studs behind the final walling surface to affix your aluminium print to)
  • A pencil to make markings

Although the process of setting aluminium prints is, by no means, a simple operation to carry out, the result is, by all means, a very rewarding one! Giving off the same kind of brilliant sophistication one usually experiences whilst visiting photo exhibitions, aluminium prints are truly worth the investment of your time. At this point, there’s just no better way of honouring photos that have a particular significance in your life!

High-quality products and our customers‘ satisfaction are really important for us. That is why we regularly analyse all incoming orders on My-picture.co.uk. Often, we get really interesting and exciting insights that we would like to share with our customers in the future.

Canvas Prints are the Bestseller

Around ten years ago, mypicture.co.uk started with photos on canvas, and now, in the first quarter of 2018, canvas prints are still our most popular product. The structure of the canvas material and the reduced design of the hand-stretched fabric onto the wooden frame give every room a special ambience – almost like in an art gallery.

Second in the ranking is the framed photo with passe-partout, followed by the photo behind acrylic glass and the photo on aluminium. This means that four wall decoration products rank in the Top 5. Rank 5 is one of our newest products, the plushie and ultra-soft photo blanket.

Most Wanted: Square and Landscape Formats

It is also interesting to look at our most popular canvas formats- our smallest (square) format in 20x20cm is our bestseller. Many of our customers order several of them at once, so we assume they create trendy collages with the canvas of their most intense memories. The following ranks are taken by three classical 2:3-formats: 60x40cm, 40x30cm and 30x20cm. Analogue and reflex cameras usually use this format, so many hobby and semi-professional photographers seem to buy on our websites. In fifth place, we can find another square format: 40x40cm.

Most Orders Come from London, Bristol Comes in at 5th Place

Where do most of our customers live? It is obvious that more orders are made in the big cities than in smaller towns and villages. So, it’s no surprise that Londoners place the most orders on mypicture.co.uk.

This is followed by the second largest city, Birmingham. In ranks 3 and 4, however, the order is no longer following the number of inhabitants- Glasgow has more orders than Leeds, although it has fewer residents. It seems that the Scots like decorating and creating a cosy atmosphere in their homes. The fifth rank is a real surprise. Bristol, only at rank 10 if following the number of residents, has the fifth most orders on My-picture.co.uk.

Wherever there’s the best there’s got to be the worst. Recently, we took a look at the 10 most exciting camera accessories. Now, it’s time to visit the other side of the spectrum. The following are some of the most obsolete, dysfunctional and offbeat camera accessories available on the shelf (either of a regular or antique store). With strong leanings towards the so-bad-its-good category, your camera surely won’t miss any of the following.

Flashcube

A notorious remnant of the disposable era (referring to the period in 1970’s and 80’s photography), the flashcube will forever live in infamy thanks to its tacky appearance and limited functionality. The way this sci-fi crystal-looking item worked was as basic as the appearance suggests. Each of the four edges functioned as a disposable flash. Once the bulb was out, the cube had to be turned to the next bulb. After all four bulbs had gone out, the cube was ready for the bin. However, in defence of this little tool, it must be acknowledged that at times there was simply no other affordable option.

Gary Fong Lightsphere

Source

Apparently, one of the first signs of a sub-par camera gadget is an odd appearance. Now, Gary Fong Lightsphere (a type of light diffuser) is not that bad in itself, and, if used properly, it can actually slightly improve the lighting in your photos. However, this insignificant upgrade is also its main weakness. The marginal change this odd-looking piece provides is simply not worth the price that was asked. Described as a simple hunk of rubber that functions exactly like a simple hunk of rubber would, it’s a product that’s truly obsolete in an age when iPhone’s portrait mode generates studio-quality lighting with a single finger tap.

Canon EOS Elan Barcode Reader

There’s a certain class of questionable tech gadgets that seem to be invented to fulfill such a minor, secondary or completely unnecessary function that it somewhat unintentionally makes matters more confusing for the user. The Canon EOS Elan Barcode Reader is a perfect example of this. A masterpiece of awkward photo gadgetry, the barcode reader came together with a special booklet called EOS Photo Files.

Source

The material contained 23 professional photos with barcodes right next to them. Using the scanner and the IR sensor on the side of the camera, the user could configure the settings automatically, as the barcode reader would communicate them to the camera. Did it make the photo look exactly like it did in the booklet? At times, it did. However, that’s only if the user carried the book with the barcodes with him/her at all times. Also, the codes didn’t scan too well when exposed to sunlight.

Selfie Stick

The fact that numerous tourist locations and venues have actually banned this piece of photo accessory speaks for itself. Unlike other items on the list, this tool that seems to stretch our narcissistic leanings a few inches more is still actively used by millions of people around the world. With that said, it definitely has its practical perks, and it may have more to do with the bad connotations than the actual product itself.

Petzval Lens

Source

Remember what we said about odd designs? With an aesthetic that’s reminiscent of an 18th-century buccaneer spyglass, the Petzval Lens introduced the concept of too vintage for its own good. Now, for truth’s sake, we have to address the fact that the Petzval Lens is, in fact, a photo gadget from a bygone century, or a picture-perfect replica of the original, to be more precise. In this respect, it’s actually an excellent piece of craft with some significant optical capabilities. The issue is that the aesthetic simply does not organically complement or enhance the modern camera design, coming off as a weird fusion of looks that were popular more than a hundred years apart. Maybe it’s just a matter of taste.

iPhone SLR Lens Mount

Source

Now, what’s the purpose of turning something that’s appreciated for its convenient size first and foremost into a bulky, extremely unhandy crossover between mobile and conventional photo devices? The iPhone Lens Mount does exactly that without much of a good reason. Besides the incredibly awkward handling of this combination, there’s also very little point purely from the technical perspective. No matter how capable your lens is, the image will always be fed through the iPhone’s image sensor and the default lens of the phone. To put it simply, there’s no need for mimicking DSLR photo techniques since there are so many unique strengths for the iPhone to emphasize.

Now, as you already noticed, there are not as many flaws as there are things to look up to. In its long history, photography has truly managed to escape many unfortunate turns. Except for a couple of questionable tech and design choices (Canon Disk and Floppy Disk Cameras, Zenit Photosniper), there really hasn’t been that much of mention-worthy hiccups during the last 50+ years of photography. As long as the image is fine, it really doesn’t matter what accessory was employed in its making!

These days, it’s just as much about the gadgets as it is about the camera itself. Invented to make photographers’ lives simpler or, perhaps, a bit more exciting, photo camera accessories comprise a market of their own. From incredible, experience-elevating technical updates to irresistible gimmicks, we’ve picked ten photo camera accessories that will make your hobby even more exciting than it already is!

Lumimuse 6

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where the lack of proper lighting really undermines a potentially great shot? Whether you’re a DSLR professional or an analogue hobbyist, Manfrotto Lumimuse 6 is here to alleviate the process and make more great photos happen! Using 6 powerful LEDs to illuminate your snaps, it’s an aluminium-made gadget that’s rechargeable with a regular USB cable. The most obvious advantage? The portability provided by its convenient size!

Luxi Light Meter

A truly odd-looking tool, the Luxi Light Meter has actually more to do with your smartphone than the camera itself. What this little technical feat does is an incredibly accurate measuring of the given lighting conditions. Once the measurements have been made, it will tell you all about the necessary aperture settings and the recommended shutter speed, paving way for a perfectly exposed shot! The item comes with the special Luxi app, which has a simple, easily comprehensible interface that will come in handy for both digital and analogue shooters.

Foldio

How about having a studio in your portmanteau? Foldio is a foldable, portable photo studio solution that allows any smartphone user to take genuinely professional-looking photos. Coming in two variations (Foldio 10” and 15”), it’s a simple mini-studio that works best for product shots. Its greatest addition probably is the built-in LED strips that are adjustable according to your needs. The foldable studio comes together with a special Foldio app which provides the user with a variety of photo editing features. All in all, it’s a must for those whose professional life depends on quick and mobile marketing promotions.

iPro Lens System from Schneider Optics

It’s 2018 and including camera accessories that are designed solely for smartphone cameras makes more than just perfect sense. With that in mind, we present the iPro Lens System, a set of lenses designed to make your mobile photography even more impressive. Suitable for both Apple products and devices that employ Android, the iPro Lens System will be a perfect update to the kit for those who pick the smartphone camera as their weapon of choice!

9in Black Fiber Optic

Of all the light painting tools available, the Black Fiber Optic Lighting Brush strikes with its uncanny resemblance to a regular brush. That, however, says nothing about its technical capabilities. Once you’ve done a long exposure portrait shot using it, you’ll be hooked. By stroking this peculiar tool in the air, you’ll create subtle yet visually effective imagery reminiscent of actual paintbrush strokes. Note that you have to use it together with a light emitting device (the one you insert in the handle to illuminate the end of each strand).

Hahnel UniPal Extra

The ultimate charging solution, Hahnel UniPal Extra pretty much eliminates the need for a bundle of wires and cables that can take up so much precious bag space. Functioning as a charger and a power bank in a single gadget, Hahnel UniPal Extra is compatible with 300 (!) types of batteries and comes with an in-car cable. It’s pretty much the ultimate photographer’s companion, something that not only significantly facilitates the process but also can be yours for a relatively low price.

Megaverse iPhone Anti-Gravity Case

Going back to smartphone photography, the Megaverse iPhone Anti-Gravity Case is a very interesting concept that was created by a company called Mega Tiny and funded via a Kickstarter campaign. Essentially, it’s a cover that has a nano-suction surface on its back, making your phone mountable to practically any surface you desire. The goal of this invention is to make the selfie-taking process a hands-free experience. Although it may not initially sound like much, think of all the situations when this invention could have helped you. There should really be some.

Bluetooth Selfie Remote Shutter

Continuing and somewhat elaborating on the previous device, Zodiac Pro Evolution Bluetooth Remote Shutter is the last missing piece of the perfect puzzle. Without the interference of any app, Bluetooth Selfie Remote Shutter connects with any iOS or Android mobile device and is ready for use. With a range of 30 feet, the device is the perfect gadget for situations when the photo involves a group of people and requires being taken at a distance.

Pocket Reflector

Surely, you cannot expect the same kind of quality from an item that’s 1/5 of its full-size sibling. That, however, does not render the Pocket Reflector useless. A tool that can easily fit into a photo bag pocket, the Pocket Reflector provides the same kind of lighting mastering, only on a smaller scale. Simply hold the reflector in your hand while taking a photo, reflecting light on your photo subject and therefore emphasizing all the subtle details. It is a great component for the photo bag of those who prefer mobile photo shooting.

Joby GorillaPod Mini Tripod

A photo accessory that appears on practically every page dedicated to the subject matter, this peculiar looking tripod is the greatest ally of creative photography enthusiasts. With the ability to be bent and shape-shifted in a variety of configurations, Joby GorillaPod can be affixed to practically any surface you see fit. In fact, it can be easily attached to tree branches and any other vertical structure. Long story short, it will help you to get angles you’ve never dreamed of getting.

With the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival already hitting Colorado’s desert grounds this weekend, it’s safe to assume that the festival season is about to lift off. For the concert goers, this means a lot of incredible memories marked by all the beautiful festival discomforts one can think of and backed by an amazing soundtrack. The most convenient and increasingly popular method of encapsulating these experiences is via the means of the so-called toy cameras – devices that are designed to inject fun back into photography.

Preface

For those unfamiliar with the concept of toy cameras, it essentially stands for a type of analogue photo camera that is often built from cheap plastic and possesses the very basic mechanism necessary for putting down an image onto a film. While lacking the technological sophistication and functionality we’re so accustomed to, these cameras surely compensate with the sheer sense of magic which, paradoxically, arises from their technical limitations. Growing from a mere gimmick into a full-fledged form of art photography thanks to organizations like Lomography and Project Impossible, these cameras have become a refreshing DIY alternative in the somewhat overly saturated hi-tech camera market.

As they’re often used by an audience segment with a strong penchant for vintage aesthetics, namely millennials, it’s no wonder that the shutter noise unison made by toy cameras can often be heard right on the festival grounds. With that in mind, let’s have a look at the 5 best toy cameras for the festival season of 2018!

Diana F+

A tribute to the legendary Diana camera that dominated the late 1960’s, Diana F+ surely does an incredible job at replicating the world-famous surrealist imagery the original became so renowned for. With a variety of available apertures, the trademark vignette, and slightly distorted colours, it’s the perfect festival companion, capturing the feel of the event more than documenting it. It’s a dream pop version of a photo camera, if you like.

Holga 120

Source

A name that really requires no introduction in the world of analogue photography, Holga 120 really embodies the idea of the transcending beauty provided by defective film photography. Although not as easily acquirable as the former entry, Holga 120 can still be found on numerous web stores where the 5-star rating is almost a constant occurrence. Frequently labelled a classic toy camera, Holga 120 is really a dream made of plastic. Providing a tad bit washed-out imagery, it’s a camera that captures what initially seems uncapturable.

LomoKino

Source

So, you want to go one step further and make a live-action featurette of your festival experiences? You’re surely free to do so with the only restriction being the 1-minute timeframe. With that said, limitations imposed by LomoKino can often be more liberating than the freedom provided by some of the cutting-edge video recorders out there. A 35mm camera for all the DIY filmmakers out there, LomoKino is basically all the amateur filmmaking joys in a nutshell – cheap, easy to use and stunning to look at. All in all, it’s 144 frames of pure excellence!

Konstruktor

Source

So, do you believe in the prospect of making your own, fully functional photo camera from scratch? Konstruktor surely delivers upon the premise, providing a 100% plastic item which, miraculously enough, indeed takes photos. Even more, they look simply amazing. If you have some spare time for additional handicraft, piecing together your very own Konstruktor might be the ultimate way of preparing for a wonderful festival run!

Any Disposable Camera out There

With all things 90’s becoming an object of mainstream admiration, it’s no wonder that disposable cameras are back with a boom. We, however, couldn’t be happier about it! For a price that won’t have any impact on your wallet whatsoever, you acquire a toy-like device that will satisfy your nostalgic cravings and provide you with a selection of beautiful, lo-fi snaps featuring your friends and favourite acts. Much like all the other devices on this list, it’s a way of encapsulating the vibe more so than the actual scene.

When it comes to festival photography, it’s really about more than just pure technical prowess. Memories that are laced with the same kind of delightfully hazy appeal as the actual event should be accordingly perpetuated. As for the results, the ambience will be perfectly maintained regardless of the print format you choose. Toy cameras are as trendy as they’ve ever been, while the festival season of 2018 might be the best time to test their capabilities!

If there’s one photo decor that pretty much steals the spotlight and, in some respects, could be regarded as the ultimate wall art piece, then aluminium photo prints might as well take the cake. Known for their exceptional durability and high-quality visuals, aluminium prints embody a true premium-class decor aesthetic. This, however, is not always obvious at first sight. With this in mind, bear with us for the rest of this little piece to understand just what exactly separates photo aluminium prints from their wall decor contemporaries.

Aluminium Composite Panel – Built to Withstand Extreme Conditions

After rummaging through various forums to find out what exactly the general public thinks about the format, the most common complaint about the aluminium prints turned out to be the apparent lack of luxury features. A recurring viewpoint holds that there’s really no significant difference between the aluminium photo print and its premium-class sibling – the acrylic photo print. In fact, some tend to give all the praise to the latter while dubbing the former an unnecessarily overpriced utility. With all due respect, it’s a viewpoint nourished by ignorance.

The key aspect which makes aluminium print a genuine premium wall decor item is its cleverly designed structure. A composite panel that sees a black plastic core sandwiched between two aluminium sheets, it’s made specifically to make the decor feel incredibly sturdy yet mobile at the same time. While this may not be that obvious just by looking at an aluminium print, it’s something one can instantly recognize upon touching the decor in real life.

This ingenuine construction also makes aluminium prints incredibly durable, arguably the most durable wall decor format of them all. But, what’s the point of having an adamantium wall decor if the image doesn’t keep up? There is none. Therefore, aluminium prints will provide you with a truly excellent digitally printed reproduction of your photo!

Aluminium Print: The Go-To Format for Visual Brilliance

Paradoxically (referring back to the comparison with acrylic prints), aluminium prints offer the same kind of visual exuberance you’d expect from its plexiglass alternative. In fact, one might have a hard time noticing any difference at all. The UV-protective film that covers the aluminium panel provides the same kind of glossy surface glow one usually associates with acrylic prints. Apart from fulfilling a decorative function, the layer also protects your photo print from a variety of environmental conditions, such as humidity and swift temperature changes. In the long run, this can increase the life span of your aluminium print by numerous decades.

Meanwhile, the solvent-free HP latex inks employed in the My-Picture.co.uk manufacturing process provide a deep and rich colour palette. Adding to this wonderful composition is the fact that your photo reproduction is laminated onto a genuine laboratory photo paper. All of this makes for a sophisticated composition that’s been justly used in corporate lobbies and entrepreneurial headquarters around the world.

Due to the specifics of the surface (lack of any apparent texture), aluminium is also one of the most beloved formats for professional photographers. With levels of saturation and glossiness that surpass most other mediums (except, perhaps, for acrylic glass which is a serious competitor in this department), the comparatively high price for this format is justified by its complex, often painstaking manufacturing process. This is due to the meticulous lamination process, which sees the photo paper mounted onto the front-facing aluminium sheet with millimetre precision.

Hanging Aluminium Prints for the Perfect Look

If there’s anything even remotely similar to a con, then it’s definitely the setting up of the decor itself. Not that it suffers from any obvious flaws. Quite the contrary, the results look really astonishing if the process is executed properly. The only real issue is that it requires quite an effort to pull it off.

Apart from purchasable backings, such as stand out mounts and regular metals frames (both of which will require the regular combination of a wire hanger and nails), the other, and probably most popular alternative, is to hang your aluminium using floating mounts or the so-called shadow mounts. Although both options require securing the print with screws (which, like it or not, means exercises in drilling), the result is the ever-so-popular floating look, an aesthetic that’s been widely used in contemporary photo exhibitions. All in all, the final composition is definitely worth the effort as you can be sure your interior will only gain from it.

In many ways, aluminium prints embody the old saying – nothing worth having comes easy. With a multi-stage production process and a couple of tricky hanging methods, it’s a decor that requires patience, taste, and investment. However, all of these are rewarded with visual excellence and a warranty that is pretty much unrivalled! Make sure to check why exactly an aluminium print should be the next choice for your photo!
