Halloween is right around the corner, and you may be looking for some spooky slots to play right now. You can find a number of scary games throughout the online gaming industry.

This includes three excellent Halloween-themed slots at Drake Casino, which you can read about below.

Blood Eternal Slots

Bloody Eternal is a classic battle between humans and vampires. Your goal is to keep these blood-suckers from feeding on more victims.

Your weapons for doing so include holy water and crosses. Meanwhile, you want to watch out for gargoyles, bats, and of course vampires during your quest.

If a human and vampire land next to each other, the latter will start biting the human’s neck. This awards you a free spin, which can be retriggered at any time by getting another human-vampire combo.

House of Fun Slots

House of Fun deals with the classic story of teenagers having car trouble in the middle of nowhere. The two teens then wonder to the nearest house, which turns out to be full of horrors.

Of course, it’s worth braving this terrifying house when considering the big payouts awaiting inside. One of the most exciting parts of this game is the Escape Bonus, which sees you choose doors in hopes of escaping alive.

The goal is to survive all of the creepy characters while earning as many big payouts as possible. Besides the bonus, you can look forward to scatter prizes and other special features.

Frankenslots Monster

Frankenstein’s monster is the famous creature from Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel. Frankenslots monster is an interesting take on this story with a slot machine twist.

This 5-reel, 20-payline slots sends volts of electricity through the big green monster. This electricity can then shoot back out of the creature and onto the reels, awarding you extra wild symbols in the process.

You can also trigger a fun bonus round by landing three scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. The bonus sees you adjust levers on the doctor’s machine in order to shock the monster and collect up to a 25x payout.

Atlantic City used to rely heavily on their casino gambling. But an economic downturn wiped out several of their casinos and convinced the East Coast gambling destination to diversify.

Part of this diversification effort includes trying to become an esports home. Esports have become extremely popular over the past few years. And Atlantic City is hoping to capitalize by building an arena that will play host to professional matches.

$5 Million Esports Arena is in the Process of Being Built

Continent 8 Technologies is currently building a $5 million “data center” at the Atlantic City convention center. The goal is to eventually hold major esports tournaments in the facility and become the sport’s biggest East Coast destination.

Esports tournaments are projected to earn over $1.4 billion by 2020. And 380 million people are expected to watch at least one esports event this year. That said, it’s little wonder why AC wants to get more involved.

Atlantic City Will Be an Attractive Place for Esports Betting

Aside from the popularity that esports tournaments are experiencing, the betting segment is also becoming bigger. Bookmakers are projected to earn over $23 billion through esports betting by 2020.

This coincides well with the fact that New Jersey is now cleared to legally offer sports betting. Hosting tournaments in AC and also allowing spectators to gamble on them would be an entertaining combination.

Of course, the first step is actually attracting major esports events, sponsors, and teams. Assuming Atlantic City can do this, then they have a stronger chance of boosting their esports bookmaking business.

Continent 8 technologies is still building the facility at the time of this news. Therefore, it’ll be awhile before we see how far Atlantic City can go in the esports department.

Jackie Chan released a sci-fi thriller last year called Bleeding Steel. Unfortunately for Chan, the movie was a complete flop. But it has at least produced an interesting gambling related story.

The New South Wales government used a program that collects unclaimed gambling winnings in order to help pay for the film’s budget.

The money was supplied by the community development fund via the Office of Responsible Gambling. The office took $850,000 from unclaimed slot machine payouts and used them to help fund Chan’s movie.

Why Did Bleeding Steel Receive Funding from Slots Revenue?

The reason why Bleeding Steel received a large portion of unclaimed slots winnings is because key scenes were filmed in Australia. One scene features Chan fighting a villain at the top of the Sidney Opera House.

According to the Gaming Machines Act 2001, this film qualifies under any “such community benefits as the Secretary considers appropriate” with regard to funding.

$3.34 million was given to 52 projects between 2014 in 2016. Some of these projects include upgrading war memorials throughout New South Wales and improving school facilities. But no project has yet to see the amount that was given to Chan’s movie, which was filmed in 2016.

Liquor and Gaming NSW Defends Decision

Liquor and Gaming NSW, which helps decide who gets unclaimed gambling winnings, has been questioned about giving such a large amount to Chan’s film project.

A spokesman defended the decision by saying that they “undertook a thorough cost benefit analysis” before deciding the film would deliver “significant short and long-term economic and tourism benefits, particularly from Asia”.

The spokesman added, “The project directly injected over $20 million into the NSW economy and employed over 1100 staff, crew, cast and extras in NSW between May and September 2016.”

Greens MLC Justin Field feels that the grant is a “highly unusual use of the Community Development Fund.”

Field added, “This fund is derived from unclaimed gambling winnings. It should be used for genuine community building projects or used to support victims of gambling harm.”

One exciting thing about blackjack is that every decision you make is important. It’s difficult knowing how to play hands when you’re new to the game.

But the good news is that you can play perfect blackjack every time with four simple steps. That said, here are the steps you need to follow in order to use perfect strategy.

1. Look at Your Score

Each blackjack hand begins with you receiving two face-up cards. You need to look at these cards in order to decide which of the following decisions you want to make: hit, stand, split, or double down.

You always have the option to hit or stand after your first two cards. But you can only split a hand when you have a pair. And depending upon the table rules, you may only be able to double down on certain score totals.

2. Look at the Dealer’s Upcard

The croupier deals them self one face-down card and one face-up card. The upcard gives you a piece of information to act on regarding the dealer’s potential score.

Generally speaking, you need to be more aggressive when the dealer has a better upcard. Chances are that you’ll need a stronger score to beat them.

However, your own score will go a long way towards deciding what decision you should make based on their upcard.

3. Refer to a Blackjack Strategy Chart

After you know the score of your first two cards and the dealer’s upcard, you should refer to a blackjack strategy chart. These charts show what decision you should make based on each situation.

A blackjack strategy chart is essentially a shortcut to making the correct decision every time. You can find one of these charts here.

4. Make the Best Play

The last step is to simply make the best play depending upon what the strategy chart shows. You want to continue referring to your chart after every extra card you receive.

After you play blackjack for a while, you should be able to play perfect hands off the top of your head. But I strongly suggest that you use a strategy chart until you reach this point.

Australia has long been known as a very passionate gambling nation. In fact, they’ve topped studies on per-capita gaming for several years in a row.

This trend won’t end any time soon, because Australia has once again been identified as the world’s biggest gambling country. The Queensland Government Statistician’s Office confirmed that Aussies still gamble more than anybody else on a per-capita basis.

Australian Adults Betting $11k Each

The updated Queensland Government Statistician report shows that Australia as a whole risked $209 billion on gambling in 2016-17. This alone sounds like a staggering sum. But it becomes even more noteworthy when considering that it amounts to each adult betting $11,000 annually.

The report measures wagering activity across casinos, lotteries, racing, and sports betting. It finds that the average Australian adult loses $1,251 per year.

Singapore, which ranked second in per-capita gaming, lags well behind Australians with $1,000 in average losses per adult.

Why are Australians Such Big Gamblers?

One reason why Australia loves gambling so much is because of all the opportunities around them. The country lays claim to over 200,000 slot machines (a.k.a. pokies) across its six territories. This works out to one slot machine for every 114 residents.

Aussies also have a fair amount of wealth, ranking 13th in gross domestic product. This high GDP ranking gives Australia more money to gamble with than the average nation.

Efforts are currently being made to combat the country’s gaming problem. Anti-gambling groups are being formed in order to help players who suffer from problem gambling. These efforts may take a while to come to fruition, though, when considering how long Australia has been at the top of per-capita gaming list.

The Russian government has intended to shut down the Azov-City gambling zone (Krasnador Region) for the past two years. However, they’ve been slow to do so based on protests from the zone’s casino operators.

But Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev isn’t waiting any longer, as he ordered Russia’s oldest gambling zone to be closed by December 31, 2018.

Why Is Russia Shutting Down the Azov-City Gambling Zone?

Russian came up with a plan in 2009 that restricted gaming to four regions (a.k.a. zones) within the country. Krasnador was one of these regions. They’ve since seen three casinos open, including Nirvana, Shambala, and Oracul Casino.

President Vladimir Putin eventually weighed in on the matter and felt that Sochi, near the Chinese border, would be a better gambling host for the Krasnador Region. Going further, he and the government announced that Azov-City would need to close their gambling operations.

Sochi has since launched casino gambling and become more successful than Azov-City. This was the final blow in the latter’s case for remaining a legal gaming destination.

Azov-City Casinos Won’t be Compensated

To add insult to injury, the Russian government won’t be compensating Azov-City casino owners for damages after the ruling.

The area’s three casinos have only been open for a decade. But they’re already be forced to close after pouring large amounts of money into their properties.

An estimated $90 billion has collectively gone into making the gambling establishments what they are today. It’s fairly certain that each operator will lose a considerable amount of their investments.

The casinos have just two months to wind down operations and lay off their employees.

Haralabos Voulgaris has such a deep insight into the NBA that he’s made millions of dollars by betting on it. The Dallas Mavericks have apparently taken notice, because they’ve hired him to serve as their head of Quantitative Research and Development.

According to ESPN reporters Zach Lowe and Adrian Wojnarowski, Voulgaris will mainly be dealing with data in his new position:

“In part, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is expected to utilize Voulgaris as a strategic thinker who will help examine on-court strategy in big-picture ways.”

Bob Voulgaris Can Use His NBA Knowledge to Help the Mavs Win

Haralabos, or “H-Bob” as he’s known, has been making NBA bets for years. A 2013 ESPN piece detailed one cutting edge strategy that he developed in order to win big:

“Each half, of course, is its own discrete period of play, and the fourth quarters of close games can end in elongated foul-clogged stretches of free throws, timeouts, fast play and, hence, a burst of scoring.

“But incredibly, bookmakers at the time didn’t account for this fact; they simply arrived at a total for the full game and cut that figure roughly down the middle, assigning some 50 percent of the points to the first half and 50 percent to the second.”

Now, however, Voulgaris isn’t simply using his basketball knowledge to win bets. He’ll also be using it to help Dallas win more games this season and beyond.

Mavericks Could Really Use a Boost

The Dallas Mavericks have not had a great run the past two years. They’ve gone 57-107 over this span and have finished towards the bottom of the Western Conference both times.

Owner Mark Cuban is embracing big data now in an effort to move his team back towards the top of the conference. Voulgaris, who’s spent countless hours analyzing players and team tendencies, should definitely be of help here.

Australia’s high roller industry took a hit in 2016, when 19 employees of Crown Resorts were arrested for promoting gambling in China. This, combined with the Chinese economy slowing down, has caused Australia to see fewer whales.

However, a recent Morgan Stanley report suggests that the whales may be coming back to the Land Down Under. Analyst Monique Rooney, who led the report, wrote the following:

“Our recent industry feedback has allayed some of these concerns, with Chinese hotel/leisure companies reporting minimal impact on current trends and ample junket liquidity after recent consolidation.

“Further feedback suggests that overseas VIP market growth remains very strong relative to Macau – particularly in the Philippines and Cambodia.”

China Crackdown Helps Australia Draw More High Rollers

Much of the rise in Macau’s gambling scene has been attributed to Chinese high roller play over the years. But China began a crackdown on money laundering and other crimes a few years ago. This has caused more troubles for whales who transport large amounts of money to and from Macau casinos.

Australian casinos have taken advantage by trying to recruit these whales. Outside of the Crown Resorts arrests, these gambling venues have been largely successful in their efforts.

Crown Resorts Sees Huge Boost in High Roller Play

Crown casino has especially benefited from more whales coming to the country. This casino has seen a giant 55% increase to $51 billion for its VIP gambling within the last 12 months.

Even with the great news for Crown Resorts and other Aussie casinos, the amazing growth will likely stall. Ken Bart, CFO of Crown, said that they need to temper expectations.

“It’s very, very hard to predict from half to half, let alone from year to year, what sort of activity we can expect in VIP,” said Barton.

“We are cautious that people don’t get ahead of themselves and think that this is some sort of VIP boom that’s occurring.”

Nevertheless, Australian casinos like Crown Resorts will continue riding the new wave of VIP gambling until the trend slows.

The Philippines features major casinos in City of Dreams Manila and Resorts World Manila. However, President Rodrigo Duterte, who’s anti-gambling, is working on measures that would harm casino gaming in the country.

Duterte has a history of taking harsh stances against gambling. After being inaugurated in June 2016, he immediately threatened to revoke online gaming licenses. He never ended up pushing forward, though, because he instead focused on a war against illegal drugs.

Duterte’s war on drugs has seen over 4,000 people murdered, which has Hague’s International Criminal Court investigating. In the meantime, he’s gone back to focusing on gambling.

New Philippines Gambling Licenses Given Cutoff Date

The country’s gaming authority, PAGCOR, has been instructed to stop issuing new gambling licenses after Jan 13. All licenses will be evaluated, at which point a decision will be handed down on which operators will remain.

This puts future casino projects in jeopardy and could make the Philippines a much-less attractive gambling destination moving forward.

Duterte Takes Aim at Casino Projects

Macau-based Galaxy Entertainment Group initially thought that they were approved to begin building a casino on Boracay Island, a popular tourist destination. Casino officials even claim to have received approval from Duterte in December 2017.

However, the president appeared to have a change of heart after stating that he never approved any such requests.

“I don’t have plans there for casinos. There are enough, there is too much – casino here, casino there,” he said.

“Consider Boracay a land reform area. I will give it to the farmers first. I will issue a proclamation that all of the land will be agricultural.”

The last comment is in reference to how Duterte closed down Boracay after a negative environmental report. That said, don’t expect the Boracay casino project to ever get started.

The Macau casino market generated $2.73 billion in September, which is their lowest total of the year. And much of the blame can be attributed to Typhoon Mangkhut.

This typhoon formed in Asia on September 7 and reached Macau in the middle of the month. The destructive force has killed 69 people and caused more than $1 billion in damages in China.

Mainland China and Hong Kong are currently trying to clean up the mess. Macau, on the other hand, is mostly dealing with the financial impact.

The local government called for the island’s 42 casinos to close ahead of Typhoon Mangkhut. This is the first time that the casinos have closed since Macau began issuing gambling licenses in 2002.

Little Actual Damage Caused in Macau

While the casinos can’t be happy about lost revenue, the good news is that the island mostly escaped without serious damage.

Power was knocked out in 21,000 homes and 40 people were injured. The island also lost out on an estimated $186 million in gambling revenue.

Visitors stopped coming to Macau shortly before the typhoon hit on Sept 15. Union Gaming analyst Grant Govertsen discussed the impact of this:

“With the benefit of hindsight, and in the context of the damage in Hong Kong being much more severe than in Macau.

“We believe the period of time that was needed to get casinos back to normal extended well beyond the Monday morning re-openings.”

Economic Impact Felt Across Macau Gambling Industry

Macau can be happy that nobody died in the typhoon, and the island suffered less damage than other parts of Asia. The biggest impact, though, was felt on the financial side.

The local casinos generated $3.3 billion in August, which was the highest monthly total of the year. However, this amount fell to $2.73 billion in September – marking a 17.3% drop from month to month.

Govertsen expects revenue to climb to $3.5 billion in October, which would mark a dramatic increase from what was experienced in September.
