What Do Small Business Development Centers Do?
Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), which are partially funded by the SBA, provide aspiring and current small business owners with a wide variety of low-cost to free consulting and educational services. This includes business plan development, financing, start-up assistance, acquisition and exit planning, as well as manufacturing assistance and contracting opportunities.
Do Small Business Development Centers Have Any Economic Impact?
The SBDC Network is credited for making a difference in the lives of entrepreneurs and business owners on a daily basis. With the assistance of SBDCs around the country, a new business is opened every 30 minutes; a new job is created every 5.5 minutes; over $100,000 in new sales are created every 8.2 minutes; and over $100,000 in capital is obtained by small businesses every 10 minutes. In 2017, America’s SBDCs can be credited for offering 1.24 million hours of consulting, training and other professional services to over 900,000 entrepreneurs and small business owners.
