Beauty Break: Becca & Mars Lavender Love Bath and Body Oil
From the March 2019 Blissful Body Box
By Elise Elbourne
Primarily I have always been a lotion user. Even so, I have still tried a couple of body oils along the way that I didn’t hate at all. I always loved the way they made my skin feel. Silky and smooth with an undeniable glow. Even just the act of putting it on feels amazing. A sensation that lotion just doesn’t offer. Lotion is cold and usually thicker in texture going on the skin, but oil immediately warms up as you rub it in your hands. As you rub it on your skin you instantly begin to feel your skin drink it up. It’s the best sensation!
While doing some research for the Blissful Body Box I was able to learn about plant-based oils and the many skin and health benefits they provide. One of the skincare products that will be featured in the first box is Lavender Love Bath and Body Oil by Becca & Mars. Continue reading below to find out more about this small business brand and the their body oil.

Becca & Mars is a natural body care company whose products are 100% clean. Their products focus on bathtime, skin care, and aromatherapy. Only pure essential oils, no synthetic fragrances, are used to formulate these small batches that are handmade. Essential oils are normally obtained through distillation from a plant of choice. These oils typically emit the fragrance of their source.
Items not only smell good but offer peace of mind in knowing all ingredients are free of chemical, artificial preservatives, and colors. Many of these oils also offer relaxing qualities that can easily be added to a self-care routine. The Lavender Love Bath and Body Oil in particular is a great moisturizer that will calm your nerves at the end of a busy day.
Lavender Love and Body Oil contains four oils to create this uber moisturizing concoction. Lavender, bergamont, and clary sage oils are mixed in a base of apricot oil to offer a bathtime or skin care experience like no other!
Apricot oil is lightweight and similar to the sebum our bodies naturally produce. This oil performs as an extremely moisturizing emollient and mask, while working to keep skin looking its youngest. Lavender oil is known fairly well for its ability to induce a relaxed state, surprisingly it also speeds up the healing process of wounds.
Bergamot oil offers numerous health benefits both internally and externally. Regarding skin care, this oil works to reduce scarring making it a great choice for acne prone skin. The fresh citrus fragrance additionally promotes feelings of relaxation, easing your mind into a soothing state. To round out this great list, clary sage is another ally for wound care due to its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and anesthetic effect. Sore muscles also love this oil. Improved mood and mental function can be expected, as antidepressant effects have been reported. This oil blend is a quadruple threat that has your skin and self care routines covered! All you have to do now is add the Mellow Essential Oil Roll-on Blend and you’ll float away on a cloud.
The Benefits of Using Body Oil
While body oils may not be for everyone, like acne prone skin for example, there is no doubt that they thoroughly hydrate skin. Acting as a protective barrier to lock in moisture, they tend to provide a more nourishing experience. Body oils actually resemble the oils in our skin which may explain why they are absorbed more easily than most lotions and butters. They also do not leave users with clogged pores.
Adjusting your skincare routine is inevitable. You might be in love with the products you currently use but your skin may not love them as much as they used to. As time passes our skin’s ability to absorb moisture becomes increasingly difficult. Adding a natural oil like the one featured in this post is a luxurious option that will give you peace of mind in knowing that you are not only nourishing your skin, you’re doing it with ALL natural ingredients!

I have to confess, my go-to colors are black and grey, not pink. Black and grey are my comfort zones plus they go with EVERYTHING! Although, for the color pink I like to make an exception. Pink literally makes me happy. Besides that, it always gives me the pop I need for an outfit.
With Valentine’s Day coming up I wanted to do a casual glam look for a date night or night out with the girls using simple items that you probably already have in your closet. I paired a hot pink cable knit sweater from Target with a pair of shiny leggings from Forever21. FYI, I wear a size 10 and these leggings fit me perfectly in the large and there are also plus-size options.
To get some Pink Luxe vibes flowing, I added a rhinestone bangle from emitations (out of business), a crystal tennis bracelet from Swarovski, and rhinestone hoops from Express. Around my neck I added a faux fur stole in black from The Limited (sold out). Find alternative here at Nordstrom. To round it all up, on the feet, a black over the knee boot from Nordstrom.

Bombshell Tips: Skincare That Does Double Duty
“Skincare is the new makeup…” – Marie Claire, October 2018
By Elise Elbourne
I’m willing to bet that when most of us think about skincare and makeup we typically do not put them in the same category. However, a skincare item that does double duty is the best of both worlds. A product that will moisturize our skin while creating a beautiful glow with illuminating minerals could shave a few minutes off your daily makeup routine.
Marie Claire’s October 2018 issue declared that skincare is the new makeup in Barely There. It’s about time we focused on skincare that will shorten our daily beauty routines and allow our true beauty to shine. I don’t know about you guys but I love when I can slather on a facial cream that leaves a little sparkle behind. Check out my round up below.
Most of us use a daily facial moisturizer as part of our skincare regime. Moisturizers are an essential part of keeping the skin hydrated to prevent it from drying out. If you’re already applying a daily moisturizer why not use one that does double duty? Kiel’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator has the best of both worlds. This moisturizer leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft while imparting a subtle glow. This formula uses pomegranate extract, which is rich in antioxidants, and illuminating minerals reflect light particles instantly brightening up the skin. This is a must-have moisturizer for those no-makeup days.
Here is another moisturizer because let’s be honest dry skin is not to be played with. This L’Oreal® Paris Age Perfect Cell Renew Rosy Radiance Cream not only gives the skin a rosy glow, it also helps with the cell renewal of mature skin. As skin ages cell renewal slows down causing dead skin to buildup. This moisturizer uses Lipo Hydroxy Acid together with Imperial Peony to exfoliate the skin leaving a rosy glow behind. I personally like to add a bit more to my cheeks for a natural blush tone. Blush, mascara, and lip balm are my basic daily makeup must-haves so this moisturizer crosses one of those needs off my list!
Dewy eyelids are having a major moment in the beauty world and whether you like it or not they may actually be better for the delicate eyelid skin. RMS Beauty Eye Polish comes in 9 different colors that act as a moisturizer for the eyelid. This specific brand formulates their eye polish with raw mineral pigments but without the dryness that raw minerals typically provide of course. This eye polish essentially doubles as an eye cream that may slow down signs of aging.
Matte lips have taken over in the last several years but they do not offer much help with moisturization. Tinted lip balms combat dryness while offering a little color. ChapStick total hydration comes in several fun colors that use jojoba oil and shea butter to nourish the lips leaving them soft and supple. Even if you’re not willing to give up your matte lips, you can still benefit by applying a thin layer of balm underneath your lipstick for added moisture and color. Consider purchasing a tinted balm that matches your matte lipstick!
