While we are inundated with art day-in and day-out, there are a few special pieces that have transcended time and culture and have slated their place in art history. Below is a gallery of few most famous paintings of all time – recognisable pieces from the ages that will never be forgotten.

1. The Mona Lisa
List of Most Famous Paintings would be incomplete without the mention of the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. This infamous portrait of Lisa del Giocondo was completed some time between 1503-1519 and currently on display at the Musee du Louvre in Paris.

2. Starry Night
Vincent van Gogh has painted countless well-known pieces; however, his painting Starry Night is widely considered to be his magnum opus. Painted in 1889, the piece was done from memory and whimsically depicts the view from his room at the sanitarium he resided in at the time.

3. The Scream
Using oil and pastel on cardboard, Edvard Munch painted his most famous piece, The Scream, circa 1893. Featuring a ghoulish figure that looks like the host from Tales from the Crypt, the backdrop of this expressionist painting is said to be Oslo, Norway.

4. Guernica
Inspired by the bombing of Guernica, Spain, during the Spanish Civil War, Pablo Picasso completed this most famous piece, Guernica, in 1937. This piece was originally commissioned by the Spanish government and intended to depict the suffering of war and ultimately stand as symbol for peace.

5. The Persistence of Memory
Painted in 1931 by yet another Spanish artist, Salvador Dali’s The Persistance of Memory is one of the most recognizable and individual pieces in art history. Depicting a dismal shoreline draped with melting clocks, it is thought that Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity inspired this bizarre piece.

6. Three Musicians
At first glance it might look like a collage but Pablo Picasso’s famous painting, Three Musicians is actually an oil painting. Completed in 1921, he painted two very similar paintings that are mutually referred to as Three Musicians and can be found in the New York MoMA and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

7. A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte
Using the unique technique of pointillism, creating a complete image that is made up of only distinct individual dots, the French painter Georges Seurat brings us his most famous piece A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.

8. Girl with a Pearl Earring
Considered by some to be the “Mona Lisa of the North,” this enchanting painting by the Dutch artist, Johannes Vermeer, features exactly what the title infers – a Girl with a Peal Earring. Completed circa 1665, this piece can now be found in the Mauritshuis Gallery in the Hague.

9. Whistler’s Mother
Whistler’s Mother is the truncated name for James McNeill Whistler’s very famous portrait originally known as Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist’s Mother. Painted in 1871, it’s one of the few American pieces on this list – although it is owned by a Parisian museum and therefore rarely seen in the states.

10. Portrait de L’artiste Sans Barbe
Although the title isn’t very creative, Vincent van Gogh’s Self-Portrait without Beard is certainly one of the most notable paintings of all time. While Van Gogh has painted many portraits before, this is the most notable because it’s one of the few that depicts him without a beard. Additionally, having sold for $71.5 million in 1998, it is one of the most expensive paintings ever sold.

11. The Night Watch
In its native Dutch tongue, De Nachtwacht is most popularly referred to in modern culture as The Night Watch. Using oil on canvas, Rembrandt (van Rijn) was commissioned by a militia captain and his 17 militia guards in 1642 to paint their company, in an effort to show off for the French Queen that would be visiting.

12. The Kiss
Easily touted as Gustav Klimt’s most famous painting, The Kiss is a realistic yet geometric depiction of a kissing couple, completed in 1908 in Vienna, Austria. What makes this piece different than the other oil paintings on the list is that it also incorporates gold leaf on canvas (in addition to oils).

13. Water Lilies
French painter Claude Monet painted a series of 250 pieces known as Water Lilies between 1840 and 1926 – it’s exactly what it sounds like, 250 paintings depicting a water lily pond from his backyard. While this might not be one individual painting, considering the collection is spread amongst the most renowned galleries of the world, the series is a deserving instalment on this list.

We hope you enjoyed our presentation of few Most Famous Paintings of All Time.

Wow!

Who would have thought that the dreadful “home work” as the case may be, is very important as reading itself? Most of the times we skip doing home works or assignments just to get to school or college to copy from your peers. Although, we don’t see it as a big deal but doing assignments is very wait, let me emphasise on it very! very! important. I’m going to be giving you the benefits of doing home works.

  1. Academic Boost: First off, doing home works, gives you an edge over those who did not even attempt such assignments. Not only does it give you an edge over others, it also widens your knowledge and understanding about that particular subject, or topic as the case may be.
  2. Improving Your Memory: Each time you do home works, of course after being taught during classes, it also helps to increase the ability or chance of likely retaining that fact for a longer period. It makes whatever the assignment is to stick to your head longer than when it is undone or copied.
  3. You Might Just Get Lucky: Sometimes, there are even rewards for doing home works it may not even be physical reward, but this reward may turn out to be the best reward ever. I’m trying to bring out the fact that some assignments or home works may likely be examination, test or questions for pop quiz. So why not take the opportunity and do your assignments? or at least attempt them.
  4. Avenue For Revision: Like I said earlier, doing assignments or home works is a form of revision , why? it is because most times, we skip these assignments when preparing for examinations. Ignoring the fact that these questions may come out during such examinations or interviews. So take your time to study them.
  5. Feeling of Fulfillment: Okay, most of you may not consider this as a big deal but not the less, this counts. Doing assignments/home works, gives you a feeling of fulfillment or achievement because you did it and did not copy from someone else.
In conclusion, most of us see assignments as a burden but you must note that its really helpful. Try it one day, you’ll be happy you did.

Hello..!! We are back again

An angel just dropped from the heaven! Such a lame comment on something that is luxurious and high fashion, but it is so apt. I will not apologies for letting my true feeling show. I think anyone who wears Art Nouveau Period collection will look like an angel. An Angelic bride. There, I said it. The lehenga is breath-taking, and everything from the detailing on the skirt, blouse, sari’s for women’s and jackets, footwear for men’s (floral threadwork, Aari embroidery work, pearls and beads) floral work on the blouse and lehanga is just a perfect match – it just adds to that feeling of walking on heaven, doesn’t it????

Although, The entire set was designed so beautifully, it might be a good idea to keep them in mind for your luxury wedding.

Known for his innovative design, Varun Bahl took inspiration from the Art Nouveau period to create a series of vintage floral. Blending the new and innovative use of different fabrics to create a dreamy love dresses.

And you cannot believe the beauty of the floral embroidery, the soft shades, the dreamy design – I really, really loved it. It feels like you walked into a heaven and rolled around in an endless land of flowers. There are some fabulous details on so many other outfits, but I’d wear them in a heartbeat (except for the women’s wear).

Where to wear : Ok, so if you are comfortable being wear deliberately kept soft, in shades of ivory, pale pink, peach, burnt orange, red, it seeks to retains its softness with delicate embroidery. This can be your wedding day dress. You will look angelic, undoubtedly. If you don’t want to wear this color on your big day, you can also consider this for your reception. It’s just so luxurious; don’t waste it on a smaller event.

Through his designs, the couturier aimed to enhance the feminine beauty of the modern woman with combination of classic and contemporary style. Floral and plant decorative are seen in the whole collection.

I love the work done on the men’s outfit and this one is exactly that….!!!

“A classic luxurious men’s jacket that is so apt for groom”.

The festival of lights, Diwali, is arguably India’s biggest religious celebration, when homes, institutions and entire neighbourhoods are decorated with candles, earthen lamps and fairy lights on this auspicious moonless night. In urban India, Diwali has come to be associated with weeks of card parties that culminate in a grand evening of firecrackers, on the main day of the festival.

Many families draw a colourful rangoli, a decorative pattern made in rice flour, at the entrance of their homes.

Hundreds of millions of people in India and around the world are set to celebrate Diwali. Popularly referred to as the “Festival of Lights”, Diwali is a five-day Hindu holiday marking the triumph of good over evil. Light a candle and join us as we celebrate this resplendent day!

Like other aspects of Hinduism—the world’s oldest religion—the origins of Diwali are ancient. And, like Hinduism, observance of Diwali is richly varied among the faith’s 800 million adherents. It’s likely, however, that the celebration has its roots in ancient South Asian harvest festivals. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important holidays of the year and is celebrated by families together in their homes.

Diwali (a contraction of the Sanskrit ‘deepavali‘ which translates into ‘row of lights’) involves the lighting of small clay lamps filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the night in order to ensure Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of happiness, feels welcome. Hindus believe that she roams the earth during the festival and enters those houses that are pure, clean, and bright—bringing with her good fortune.

Firecrackers are lit in order to drive away evil spirits and many families draw a colorful rangoli, a decorative pattern made in rice flour, at the entrance of their home. Friends, family, and neighbors visit to share in food and festivities, as well as little treats such as khil (rice puffs) and patashe (sugar disks). Puja, the worship of deities, takes place at home and at temples with prayers and other offerings.

Diwali is an official holiday in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji. However, the largest Diwali celebration outside of India takes place in Leicester, England’s Golden Mile section.

Show off your lights today and join the celebration!

Share and let others know how you celebrate Diwali,

5 More new tools which are necessary to be learned in Photoshop.

In the Series 1 “Beginner guide to Photoshop CS6” we mentioned few necessary tools and some of the functions residing within it. While we brushed up on several essential tools in Series-1, there are still many more which need to be covered. In Series-2 we’re going to cover new 5 selection tools. Those are as followed –

  • Lasso Tool
  • Polygonal Lasso Tool
  • Magnetic Lasso Tool
  • Quick Selection Tool
  • Magic Wand Tool

The majority of successful creation will require the use of above Photoshop CS6 tools as well. Let’s take a look at each of these tools and how we may best use them to our advantage.

Read About the Beginner’s guide to Photoshop CS6 – Series-1

Lasso Tool

Lasso Tool is much like the MARQUEE TOOL we covered in part one, the lasso tool isn’t only one particular tool, but a group of tools. Let’s have a look at the standard lasso tool. The Lasso tool can be found on the toolbar directly underneath the Marquee Tool (the one rectangle marching ants)

Its worth noting the tool keyboard shortcut is “L” Key. Learn Photoshop Keyboard Shortcut Series-1 if you want to.

To make it more simple lasso tool has the exact same result as the marquee tool. It allow you to select the portion of your work space you are working at and making the area in question with marching ants. the only difference between marquee tool and lasso tool is how actually the result in the end. Lasso tool is a freehand selection tool, it allow you to draw a line where ever you want and make you more selective instead of click and dragging mouse to set a shape starting and end point.

For example – appropriate time to use lasso tool would be if you have a very specific portion of your workspace and need to cut. You’d simply draw a line with a lasso tool to select it, and then use the edit menu to cut, copy and paste.

Polygonal Lasso Tool

Upon holding and right click on the lasso tool icon, a drop down menu is going to appear where you may select the polygonal lasso tool.

Much like the previous lasso tool, the polygonal lasso tool keyboard shortcut is “L” key. But you have to hold drop down menu and then click L key to select it.

Every lasso tool work much the same just they allow us the ability to make free form shapes. What differentiate this one, the shape you draw will consist of a bunch of small, straight line in the form of a polygonal. if you need to select a portion of your work space consisting a bunch of straight lines, this is the tool you need. for example.

The example used in the lasso tool above would hold true here, assuming the shape you need to cut consist of straight lines.

Magnetic Lasso Tool

Now that you understand the Lasso and Polygonal Lasso Tools, this one will be easy to grasp, so we’ll keep it quick. It is accessed from the same drop menu as the previous two tools.

Same the Key “L” is the keyboard short cut for this tool. Again you need to hold and wait for drop down menu to appear and then press L key.

At  first, The magnetic lasso tool acts exactly like the standard lasso too, the difference being that, after drawing an outline around specific object, the magnetic lasso tool will snap its marching ants around the object.

Quick Selection Tool

The quick selection tool can be found on the toolbar directly beside lasso tool. The icon looks like a magic wand and upon holding down the icon, you’ll get a drop down menu, which allows you to choose between quick selection tool and the magic wand tool.

Keyboard Shortcut for Quick Selection tool is “W” key.

By clicking and dragging your mouse while the tool is selected, you’re able to select a portion of your work space and alter that area colours. For example, if you have a picture of the sun on your screen and you wish to blow it up a bit, dragging the quick selection tool around its outer edge can distort the colours around it. The QUICK SELECTION TOOL also has a magnetic effect, meaning it recognised borders around objects, making your selection seamless.

Magic Wand Tool

Magic wand tool is found in the same drop down menu as the quick selection tool.

Sharing the same keyboard shortcut “W” but hold down shift before pressing the W key, the magic wand tool is essentially the same thing, but a little dumbed down for when the quick selection tool is more complicated than it needs to be for the task at hand.

Unlike the quick selection tool and the magic wand tool lets you click on a portion of your image, highlighting that area along with any adjacent pixels on the same colour. The magic wand tool is and easier way to go about selecting objects consisting of one colour.

In Series-1 we learned how to use the move tool and marquee tools. In Series-2 we learned about Lasso tool, quick selection tool, magnetic lasso tool, polygonal lasso tool and magic wand tool. All these tools fall under the category of SELECTION TOOL TO REMOVE BACKGROUND IMAGES in any way. In Series-3 we’ll learn about other handful of tools, further increase your ability to edit images in better and advance way.

In Series 1 of Photoshop basics tutorial, we’ll cover all the necessary toolbar and few basic tools, which are primarily necessary for day today life and are revolved around the selecting of items. These tools include:

  • Tool Bar
  • The move tool
  • The rectangular marquee tool
  • The elliptical marquee tool
  • The single row marquee tool
  • The single column marquee tool

Note- No matter the project, these tools will act as the first steps in editing any materials and are the most important to grasp. By learning about these tools, you’ll be mastering yourself for more advanced tools in no time.

Toolbar

Photoshop CS6’s toolbar is located on the left of the page (although it’s worth noting this may be changed in the settings, according to user preference). Toolbar is also available on the Window panel.

User have the option of having tool menu in extended and compact mode, compact mode doesn’t necessary take up much less space than extended mode, through it is shorter an wider.

It’s really all up to aesthetics and personal preference. When using a tool found on the toolbar, it’s as easy as a mouse click to activate it.

All about Photoshop CS6 Tools:- The Move Tool

The move tool is located on the very top of the toolbar. For extra clarity and the location please see the attached below images with the red mark.

For a bit of added convenience, its worth noting that the move tool’s keyboard shortcut is “V” Key.

Using move tool is as simple as selecting it with a left click and then clicking and dragging the image you want to move.

Note – You can also copy or cut the pixel selection and move it to a different window or in the same window.

The Rectangular Marquee Tool

Underneath the move tool on the toolbar, you will notice an icon like marching ants. Clicking or holding this icon will make a drop menu appear in which you can click on Rectangular Marquee tool.

Keyboard Shortcut for this is “M” Key

After  selecting the rectangular marquee tool, you’ll be able to click and drag your mouse to select a portion of your workstation, highlighting it with marching ants upon release. Upon highlighting an area, users may impact that area in any way they please through the edit menu.

For example – if someone wish to cut a portion of what appears in there workstation, they would first highlight it with the rectangular marquee tool then select “cut”.

The Elliptical Marquee tool

this particular marquee tool is found under the same drop menu as the one above. upon clicking and holding the icon of the marching ants under the move tool, you’ll be able to select the elliptical marquee tool.

The Keyboard shortcut is once again the “M” Key, whichever marquee tool was last selected through drop menu is what will be selected upon hitting this key.

The process of using the elliptical marquee tool is the exactly same as rectangular marquee tool/ Simply click and drag the mouse to highlight an area. This time the area is going to be circle as opposed to a rectangle. this tool is simply used for highlighting areas within your workstation, which can then be modified via the edit menu.

Single Row Marquee Tool

The single row marquee tool is found the same way as the other marquee tool. the only difference is that this tool has no keyboard shortcut.

To use this tool, you want to click on the screen (as opposed to click and drag). A row of marching ants will be created across the x-axis of the pixel you clicked on, from one side of the screen to the other, unlike the other marquee tools, which are generally used to highlight images or portions of the screen, the single row marquee tool is most commonly used to make lines across the screen.

for example, if an image you’re creating required a single-pixel-wide line be drawn across the screen this is the easiest way to go about doing so.

Single column Marquee tool

After the single row tool, this one should come as self-explanatory. Once again, this tool is found in the same drop menu as every other marquee tool on this list. Like the single row tool, it also has no Keyboard short cut.

Once the tool is selected, you’ll be able to click a pixel and have a vertical line appear down the screen across the pixel you selected.

The example used for the single row tool also holds true for the single column tool- if and image you’re creating demands a pixel-wide vertical line, this is an easy way to go about creating such line

Hope you enjoy it.

Please read Series-2 of this tutorial where you can learn another 5 Photoshop CS6 Tools.

NORTH Korea is thought to be the most dangerous place on earth – but its demise could actually spell an even bigger disaster than a potential World War 3.

The rogue nation is armed with a huge horde of NUCLEAR WEAPONS. The Pentagon believes it has access to 200 launchers used to fire short and long-range weapons, and estimates suggest they could have between 13 and 21 missiles. Pyongyang could even have enough atomic material for 100 nuclear bombs, along with four nuclear warheads.

North-Korea-Kim-Jong-Un

And recent satellite images of Kim Jong-un’s main missile test site reveal North Korea’s weapons are more powerful  than first thought. So on the surface, the downfall of Pyongyang may seem like an unquestionabley good thing. But its collapse could actually be more perilous for the rest of the world than if the chubby tyrant chose to attack.

North Korea Army

If the USA and its allies were to succeed in causing the collapse of the hermit state, society could collapse and the Kim dynasty be extinguished. But the real danger would stem from immediate concerns over who has control over not just the country’s nuclear program, but also its chemical and biological weapons stockpiles. The chemical and biological projects are much larger than North Korea’s nuclear program, and could even be a bigger threat if they ended up in the wrong hands.

Estimates say there are between 3,000 to 5,000 tonnes of chemical weapons in North Korea’s arsenal – despite Pyongyang’s instance no chemical arms exist. But according to the Washington-based Nuclear Threat Initiative, a non-profit organisation, the isolated country possesses deadly nerve agents including sarin and VX.

The NTI say: “North Korea may possess between 2,500 tons and 5,000 tons of CW agents.

“The South Korean government assesses that North Korea is able to produce most types of chemical weapons indigenously, although it must import some precursors to produce nerve agents which it has done in the past.

  • “At maximum capacity, North Korea is estimated to be capable of producing up to 12,000 tons of CW.
  • “Nerve agents such as sarin and VX are thought be to be the focus of North Korean production.”
  • North Korea may possess between 2,500 tons and 5,000 tons of Chemcial Weapons agents.

Nuclear Threat Initiative

While the weapons are capable of killing millions, allied forces would need extreme levels of intelligence to locate all the materials and destroy them following the regime’s collapse. This week, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons warned North Korea’s chemical weapons stockpile is a “concern for peace and stability” on the Korean peninsula and beyond and director general Ahmet Uzumcu urged countries to apply “more pressure” to get Pyongyang to sign the Chemical Weapons Convention treaty, which aims to ban the world’s chemical stockpiles.

But the rogue nation has so far ignored all requests, and it is likely Kim has even upped production. Now concern is over exactly what will happen if the regime were to fall – and who would inherit the deadly arsenal.

Maharashtra: Petrol will be cheaper by Rs 2 and diesel by Rs 1 per litre across Maharashtra from Tuesday midnight after the state government reduced the value-added tax on the fuels.

Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar making the announcement about VAT reduction on petrol and diesel on Tuesday midnight and termed as a “Diwali gift” to people of the state.

The revised rates will be applicable from midnight today, he said. “The chief minister has approved a proposal to reduce the VAT on petrol and diesel, respectively. This is our Diwali gift to the masses,” Mungantiwar told PTI.

He said the decision will cause an annual revenue loss of Rs 2,000 crore to the state exchequer. “The government is ready to bear the additional financial burden despite Maharashtra’s economy not being in a good shape,” he said.

Reacting to the government’s decision, the Shiv Sena said there is a scope for further reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel, while other opposition parties termed the move as an “eyewash”.

“This (fuel price cut) was very essential. However, the prices can be further reduced. Instead of making an one-time announcement and later increasing (the rates) again, the government should be more transparent.

“The government should come out with a roadmap, detailing the quantum of fuel price cut it was planning in the next one year,” Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe said.

“The price of crude oil (in global market) is around $50 a barrel. Going by this, the petrol price should not be more than Rs 40 a litre,” Chavan said.

“This reduction hardly means anything. Fuel prices should be drastically slashed,” the former chief minister added. The NCP termed the VAT reduction as “minor” and said it was like giving “alms” to people.
