Hi, I guess I’ve alway liked saying “Greetings from…”, must be an old fashioned thing I picked up when I was a kid growing up in the center of Washington state.   Now and back then I always enjoyed collecting postcards, you know the ones which say “Greetings from California” or “Greetings From Washington”, or even if you look hard enough you might find a “Greetings from Nevada”.  These are the postcards you’d find in diners, roadside motels and souvenir shops across America in the 1960s.  You’all remember the sixties right?  I know to many of you the 60s is like ancient history, maybe you have seen a documentary on it on PBS.  Ouch, maybe you’ve never watched PBS, well maybe you’ve seen something bout the 1960’s on MTV?  Oh, I give up, just Google it or maybe there’s a video of it on Youtube.

Look at how distracted I got, I really want to talk about those “Greeting from” postcards.  I started collecting them when I was a kid and continue to collect them even today.  Hard to find now, especially ones  in good condition.

Greetings from Florida “The Land of Sunshine”

This is my favorite postcard from this series, one of several versions of Greetings from Florida.  This particular versions has the tagline “The Land of Sunshine”.  I think what draws me to the card is the color combinations, blue ocean surf at the bottom, a bright yellow face sun top corner and of course a green palm tree on the left side.  All the “Greeting from” series postcards have the bold 3-d style letters formed with inset pictures of scenic locations from the area the postcard promotes.

I titled this blog post “Greetings from Nevada”, I now live in Nevada so I guess I better provide an example of a Nevada postcard from the same series.

Greetings from Nevada, my oh my, what a great post card to represent the great state of Nevada. Nevada’s got it all, casino gambling, Hoover Dam, precious metals mining, pioneers in wagon trains, and of course Lake Tahoe!  I especially like the photo loser right corner, roulette wheel at a casino, dealer wearing a green visor, and of course both men and women wearing hats.  LOL, a great scene, looks a lot different now days, but still the same if you know what I mean.

And, now a word from our sponsor…

Check out our Zazzle Store, ScooterBaby for a great “Greetings from Florida” Coffee Mug.  PS… Check out our selection of “Greetings from” postcards, available from all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, all from our own collection.  Thanks for reading… anyone can watch a video, but you have to learn to read!
