After the last three weeks, I’ve had, I believe everything happens for a reason; good and bad. I’m choosing to find joy and peace within it so I can push through because the truth is that I’m so exhausted and heartbroken but I can’t focus on it because it magnifies the complexity of the situation so I’m breaking them up into little things so I can manage them with peace of mind and a high spirit.

“Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you’ll look back, and realize they were the big things.”

My 18 y/o cat passed away and that was a big thing.
My mom was in a horrible car wreck and that was a big thing.
My doctor started me back on chemo and that was a big thing.

All the “things” mixed together become difficult to push through your personal side of life. However, my husband and our horse family are having an amazing time. The in a map of a year, these are big things. In the map of five years, a few are big things… and so on.

The thing that stands out to me in this chaotic time are the people that celebrate you and are able to trudge through the mud with you. There are those that only celebrate with you and that collection is great if you’re into a surface dwelling life. But if you’re really focused on your energy and the energy that surrounds you, you’re going to realize the people that aren’t able to trudge with you aren’t really worth your time nor energy because the compartments of life are full and messy, you need to know who’s there and who isn’t. Time is of the essence and you don’t have any to waste. You can’t give away all your energy and someone else use and abuse it like they don’t care because the sad reality is that they don’t care about you at all. If they did, you wouldn’t wonder about their absence, you’d just know they’ve got you because they showed up.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” – Leo Buscaglia

Take a gander around and look at the collection of friends around you and what full portrait does that convey the narrative of your life? Seriously, step back and look at all the little acts that add up to be big acts.

It’s much like a collection on a gallery wall. All of these beautiful features in each painting or photograph and that creates the work of art. Same goes for human beings, they’re complex, unique, beautiful, and they can add to a collection or they’re too grand to be placed next to anyone else.

The grand may be great for some but I prefer the collection. No one is better than anyone. No one is too mighty to be left alone. The collection is inclusive, contributing, and takes your breath away when you step forward and realize that without one of them, this collection of art we call life would be nothing without the people that truly love you.

Alas, it’s not the only factor in physical appearance, and should be used as a supplement instead of a bath.

Don’t get sucked into the life-sucking epidemic of being a Judge Judgey McJudgerton.

You are better than that.

Open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you. Instead of hate, fill your heart with love. Say it. Live it. Compliment someone.

If you cultivate goodness, it will swirl around you like something you’ve never seen.

So go!

Be a nonconformist and look to the light and let the darkness fall behind you.

Macy’s Presents the Spring Fashion Show

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Macy’s this Derby for as an “influencer” for their KDF Fashion Show collaboration. Whilst I found the most amazing jumpsuit, earrings, and wrist candy, I couldn’t find the right fascinator for me. I don’t prefer to wear a hat so the fascinator was the next best fit. I brought back a fascinator from another year (2015 to be exact) and rocked the one made by my friend Britni Knable of Head Candi + House of K.

I think it turned out beautifully.

The Macy’s Spring Fashion Show is Kentuckiana’s premiere fashion showcase of the year. The Fashion Show features a runway of the latest in Derby and spring outfits and accessories by fashion brands and local boutiques.

I captured many photographs and had a very fun night with my great friend, Ashlea Spears of The Blush Influence.

Thanks for having us, Macy’s! I hope to do it again next year!

To live in this world, you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go”- Mary Oliver
