I love makeup and skincare products and most importantly, being honest about what I think about these products. The beauty industry is a lot of marketing and is a huge industry. As a Canadian beauty blogger with a love of all things cosmetics, makeup and skincare I have a lot to say!
Clean makeup at Sephora has been around for awhile but only started to pick up steam. I started thinking, what kind of crap am I putting on my face and letting it sit there, seeping into my pores? I love my brands and stick to them but as I do further research into the ingredients some skincare brands put into their products – the more I keep gravitating toward clean makeup. Keep reading and I’ll reveal some of my favourite clean and green makeup products you can find at your local Sephora.
What is Clean Beauty
You may be wondering what clean beauty products have versus regular skincare or makeup that has been tested in labs. There are ingredients such as fillers. An example of this is dimethicone which is a silicon that helps your products “feel” smooth and can act as a natural barrier for your skin BUT it’s not always so great for you. Dimethicone can block pores and worsen acne-prone skin but it can also help the texture of the product not separate and stay together.
It depends on your skin type but this is an example of a product that can do more harm than good to your skin especially if you don’t know the pros and cons of this ingredient.
Buying vegan and cruelty-free beauty is more of a choice than a staple in my opinion. I’m gravitating toward more vegan products because if we think that the earth has already given us all of the nutrients we need, we shouldn’t need to manufacture our own products now should we?
Cruelty-free is a choice I’m making especially in skincare because there’s no reason why we need to test on animals. Especially since rabbits and cute fluffy bunnies are my favourite animals in the world, I don’t need to put lipstick on a pig, literally.
Clean Beauty at Sephora
The clean beauty at Sephora can be represented by the green seal which stands for the fact that Sephora has determined the product doesn’t have any of the following specific ingredients (apparently, we told Sephora to avoid these):
Sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban. All skincare, hair, and makeup brands with the Clean Seal have less than one percent of synthetic fragrances.
Here are a few of the ingredients that you’ll need to watch out for that are excluded from the green seal:
Sulfates SLS and SLES – foaming agents and behave similarly to how soap lathers. They aren’t always bad but it depends on how your skin reacts and can be a skin irritant. It’s best to stay away from these ingredients if you have sensitive skin.
Parabens – Some studies have found that parabens can emmulate certain estrogen hormones in the body but it hasn’t quite yet been proven. Parabens can also hide in very unique ingredients that we may not even know the name of. Overall, you just don’t need these in your beauty routine and many brands have already eliminated them anyway but always read the ingredients!
Formalddehydes – Are likely not in big enough dosage in beauty products that you’ll even know they are there but they can cause dermatitis, so again, if you have skin that is easily irritated you will not want to put these on your face or body.
These are just of the few key brands but the clean symbol at Sephora will have already done the dirty work for you so you won’t have to worry. At worst case, just ensure you’re reading your ingredients and use Google to understand what is in your products if you’re unsure!
My Favourite Clean Beauty BrandsYouth To The People
You know when you’ve found a new brand that just makes you squeal with delight? Youth To The People does that for me. I got my deluxe sample of the Superfood Face Wash that contains simple ingredients such as: Kale + Green Tea, Spinach and Vitamins.
I really love the cleanser but I’m not sure I can explain why I love it so much. It feels so smooth on the skin going on as it is more like a gel but also, it has a cleansing element without stripping the skin of its natural oils. I will say that the Superfood Cleanser is probably not the greatest for dry skin because I noticed I got a little tight but that didn’t bother me. The idea that there aren’t any ingredients I don’t understand in this little green bottle are enough to make me feel secure that I’m being cautious.
After the cleanser, I followed up with the hylauronic acid moisturizer that contains the same ingredients (Kale, Spinach and Vitamins) as the Superfood Cleanser. The hylauronic acid was so comfortable on the skin and very comparable to other water based moisturizers except I felt that this gave me more nourishment.
While in Sephora, I also tried the Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream from Youth To The People and I really loved the way it felt on my hands. It definitely wasn’t too heavy at all and perfect for mature skin. The Adaptogen Deep Moisture has ingredients such as adaptogenic herbs and mushrooms which help our skin adapt to aging and the elements around us.
The other products in the Youth To The People line also have me intrigued. I’m most interested in the Superfood Firm and Brighten Serum as well as the Superberry Hydrate and Glow Dream Mask. Both are products that have gotten rave reviews from Sephora customers but also contain very clean ingredients and of course is vegan too! The Superberry Hydrate and Glow Dream Mask is an overnight mask that is VERY rich and great for dry skin too.
Farmacy as a clean skincare brand at Sephora has taken the industry by storm. I feel that they’ve popped up overnight but have really been around for quite some time.
Most of the products from Farmacy have been given the clean beauty symbol by Sephora. The top seller from Farmacy right now is their Green Clean Makeup Removing Balm (comes in two sizes). If you’re aware that makeup balms help clean and remove makeup without stripping the skin of natural oils. This Green Clean Makeup Removing Balm by Farmacy has gotten rave reviews on Sephora’s website and it is also free of parabens, sulfates and silicons. It is also cruelty-free and vegan making it a top contender for Sephora’s clean beauty products.
Another amazing product from Farmacy is their Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum with Hydrating Honey + Gentle Flower Acids. Another lesson on skincare ingredients: AHA is Alpha Hydroxy Acid and is used for uprooting the upper most layer of the skin for better cell turn over. This means that it naturally exfoliates your skin while you sleep and your skin will become firmer over time.
Farmacy Honeymoon Glow
Clean beauty doesn’t have to be complicated – in fact, I find more brands are simplifying what they put into their products.
Drunk Elephant is another example of clean beauty and skincare brands that can be found at Sephora in Canada. One of my favourite Drunk Elephant products is the B-Hydra (read the review here). The B-Hydra is an illuminating serum which I use as both a serum and moisturizer in one. It’s one of the products that I have on repeat and will continue to repurchase.
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra
Drunk Elephant also has their Protini Moisturizer that contains protein and adds more collagen and muscle support to the skin. Think of it as a smoothie for your face.
Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum
The other Drunk Elephant product that has everyone raving is their T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum which is another AHA night time serum that helps improve skin turnover and encourage cell rejuvenation while you sleep. In this formula you have raspberry extracts, citric and salicylic acid all in one tube. The natural ingredients combined with some chemical ones make this serum a favourite for night time.
Tatcha is one of my favourite brands because of so many reasons: it’s clean skincare, the packaging is gorgeous (which makes me love taking photos of this brand) and the smells are so great. Tatcha is known for it’s Japanese take on clean beauty but I find they have a unique product line.
Right now, the most interesting product from Tatcha is the Dewy Cream. If you’re into the dewy look like I am, you’ll know that the cream makes your skin look like glass which is a very Asian beauty concept that I love. Combine the Dewy Cream with the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist (click to read the review).
Tatcha is considered clean skincare at Sephora Canada and doesn’t have a huge range of products but the ones they do carry are very well thought out. The only one of their products I don’t like is the Silk Canvas Primer. You can read my review here.
I’ve heard this from a few of my Canadian beauty blogger friends also who don’t really like the Silk Canvas Primer which is more focused on shielding your skin from pollution so if you’re going to buy it you probably wont’ like it under foundation so just wear it on its own.
Clean Makeup at Sephora
Now that we talked about my favourite clean skincare brands, we’ll focus on clean makeup at Sephora.
Ilia is a clean beauty and makeup line that can be found at other stores other than Sephora but if you’re a member of the VIB and collect points, you may want to buy Ilia products there. Ilia believes in delivering makeup without the toxins but still maintains the wearable factor for gorgeous colour which can get lost with some organic makeup brands.
Ilia Cucumber Water Stick
One of my favourite products from Ilia is the Cucumber Water Stick. Forget your regular primer, the Ilia Cucumber Water Stick is a toner for pre-makeup application. It acts a soothing and cooling base before you start your regular makeup routine so you don’t need to prep your skin further as it acts as a de-puffing agent and allows for better circulation.
RMS Beauty was created by makeup artist Rose-Marie Swift (hence the name RMS beauty). RMS beauty products are made with raw and food-grade organic products so you know your face is free of toxins.
RMS Beauty Eye Polish
One of my favourite RMS Beauty products is the eye polish which is only available online at Sephora. If you love a dewy look everywhere, you’ll love the eye polish especially in the colour “Embrace” which is a quartz rose pink. I love to swipe colour on my eyelids and go but the eye polish also allows the nourishment of the oil base that helps to coat the eyelids for maximum comfort. Since it is an oil, this product will crease so make sure you apply a translucent powder to set your eyes beforehand.
I’m sure you have heard of the name Josie Maran before but maybe didn’t know what separated this brand versus other luxury or organic beauty brands. If you love dewy skin, Josie Maran products are known for being infused with argan oil. Argan oil heals and helps with nourishing elements that improve hair, skin and nails with omega 3, 6 and 9. The 100% Argan Oil is cruelty free, vegan and paraben free which makes it a clean makeup item at Sephora.
Josie Maran also infuse the 100% Argan oil into her makeup products. My favourite product pick from Josie Maran is the Vibrancy Argan Oil Fresh Face Paint Palette. It comes in 4 colours and is a creamy lip, cheek and eyeshadow palette in one with orangey and pink hues. It allows you to create a full face of makeup on the go in a handy travelling palette.

Top picks for the Sephora Canada Spring Sale 2019 By Colour
This took me quite awhile so I hope you love how I created my Sephora Canada Spring Sale picks! You’ll see I have chosen the best products by their specific colour! I have linked all of the makeup and skincare reviews below under their respective colours. If you have further questions, please leave them in the comments below.
Sephora Sale Picks in RedSephora Sale Picks Red Lipsticks
When I was looking for products in the red family, I couldn’t deny that the majority of the products were red lipstick. I didn’t have a problem with this so I embraced it. The rest of the Sephora Sale Picks are not just lipstick but for the “Raging Red” category it seemed fitting.
Top Sephora Sale Picks in CoralSephora Sale Picks Coral
The Pantone colour of the year for 2019 is Living Coral. What better way to celebrate this amazing colour than to express it in the form of makeup. My absolute favourite blush tone to wear is coral. I find that it acts as a perfect contour and makes my complexion pop. Additionally, coral lipstick ties everything together for the perfect monochromatic look. I love a good creamy lipstick!
Here are the links to my top Sephora Sale picks for all things coral (top left to top right)
Top Sephora Sale Picks in OrangeSephora Sale Picks Orange
Orange or tangerine has really taken off! I’m obsessed with everything that has to do with this colour, especially for nails! A day glow orange hue as bold as it is can often become subtle in makeup. Orange makeup looks really good when it is in the form of a cream. It can blend so nicely into the skin and give you a perfectly flushed and healthy glow.
Check out my top picks for tangerine or orange makeup (top left to top right):
Sephora Sale Picks in YellowSephora Sale Picks Yellow
Yellow seems to be the colour that everyone is rocking this season. I bought this lemon yellow coat and people can’t stop staring at me. I love wearing such a bright colour and it just makes people feel so happy. Yellow isn’t the easiest colour to wear especially if you have yellow undertones but you can incorporate yellow into your makeup in other ways. I love yellow nails for the summer especially! What is your favourite yellow makeup item?

Sephora Sale Picks in GreenSephora Sale Picks Green
Everyone associates green with being eco friendly and I have to say this has stuck. I’m now getting really into clean beauty and skincare and just think that all the packaging should be green! Green is such a hard colour to wear but I think the Charlotte Tilbury luxury eyeshadow palette does a great job at incorporating green without being too clown-y. There were some outrageous green picks on Sephora Canada’s website but I tried to stick with meaningful items that would speak to anybody.
Here are my top Sephora Sale Spring Green Picks (top left to top right):
Blue is a hot colour especially for eyeshadow for Spring 2019. We’re seeing lots of different hues ranging from bolder blues to lighter powder shades. I find blue very flattering to wear when it is done right. I tend to gravitate toward the blue eyeliners because I find them easier to wear but I love the look of blue on the eyelid. The Stila shimmer eyeshadow is the perfect topper for a night out eye look.
Here are my top Sephora Spring Sale Picks in the colour blue (top left to top right):
Sephora Sale Picks in PurpleSephora Sale Picks Purple
There are a few Canadian bloggers who don’t love purple eyeshadow. I won’t name names but I am shocked to see know that many shy away from purple. I have green eyes so purple always works for me and I love any palette where I can wear purple in the crease. Take the Marc Jacobs palette for example, the purples there are bold enough but then compliment the lighter colours.
Here are my top Sephora Spring Sale picks in the colour purple (top left to top right):
She’s at it again! Anastasia Beverly Hills released a new eyeshadow palette earlier this month called the Riviera Palette. This is the perfect eyeshadow palette for spring that packs a mighty punch of bold colours especially the hot pink pigment called ‘Bahamas’
Anastasia Beverly Hills is known for her eyeshadow palettes that are best sellers. Some of my favourite ones are the Soft Glam Palette (read the review here) that focuses on neutrals and oranges and the Modern Renaissance Palette which focuses on taupes, pinks and reds. Both are very warm eyeshadow palettes but the Riviera Palette is on the bolder side.
The Riviera Palette cover is a nautical theme which makes this the perfect palette to take with you on vacation. I am instantly reminded of a cruise when I see this palette.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette Cover
The top row of the Riviera Palette consist of shimmers and sparkly shadows. The bottom row of the Riviera Palette are packed tightly and milled finely – these are considered pigments.
Here are some swatches of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette:
As you can see, all of the colours in the Anastasia Beverly Hills Palette are labelled very luxurious names. This makes me think of going on a cruise which is probably the intention of the Riviera Palette.
If you have a colourful palette, I don’t know if you need this palette but I love that it contains neutrals as well as bright bold colours. It’s quite gorgeous and if you follow Instagrammers, a lot of them are using Riviera to create amazing smokey pink eyeshadow looks that feel like a sunset.
You know you can buy shampoo online on Amazon…right? This post is going to round up the best Amazon hair care products including some handy tools to round out your hair care routine.
Also, I know how frustrating it can be when there’s a hair product such as a shampoo that has been discontinued and you don’t know where you can find it. I’ve been lucky to find a lot of shampoo and conditioner products on Amazon that I may not be able to find in salons or stores. There is a great variety of drugstore brands like L’Oreal, Herbal Essences and salon level shampoo such as Fekkai and Olaplex. Try searching now for your favourite brands, you may be surprised at what you find!
I always go to Amazon to find products that I love and since brands I trust are available, I usually try and check Amazon first because of the Amazon Prime 2 day shipping feature as well as some of the bundling options I’ve found. They are are sometimes a lot cheaper too but I do caution you to read the amazon reviews before you buy in case the products come from shop owners who may have had the inventory for awhile. Meaning, you don’t know how fresh hair care products are on Amazon. The reviews should tell you everything you need to own!
Also, if you want the latest and innovative hair care products then you’ll want to start shopping on Amazon. In this post I’ll talk about some of the hot hair topics right now including the new shampoo brush scalp massage tool that is blowing up!
Let’s get into this post on the best Amazon hair products right now:
Olaplex on Amazon
You may have heard of this new product called Olaplex. Olaplex is a bond repairing system that is perfect for blondes or anybody with bleached hair (for example, if you have blue hair and need to bleach your strands before applying the colour). Amazon offers Olaplex numbers 3, 4 and 5 and sometimes 2 if you can find it.
Olaplex 3 is a leave in treatment and not a conditioner. It relinks hair bonds that have been weakened by chemical damage to the hair.
Olaplex 4 is a bond maintenance shampoo which helps keeps bonds in place in between treatments. It restores the internal strength of the hair shaft and maintains shine and healthy strands.
Olaplex 5 is best followed up to Olaplex 4 which is the bond repairing conditioner that helps to round out the entire system, especially if you’re using the Shampoo.
Olaplex is one of the best hair care products on Amazon and in salons nowadays. The prices are quite impressive compared to the fact that you can buy the treatments online if you don’t have a salon close by that you can walk into.
Apparently, it feels amazing and people can’t get enough of this product. It is also great for people with long nails because it massages the shampoo into your scalp without you having to use your own nails to do so.
For only $10 CAD, this is Amazon’s choice for a scalp massager and brush in one that you NEED to own.
Living Proof Hair Line
If you have thin hair like me and yes, I talk about it in this review of the Living Proof Full line but it is actually cheaper to buy the Shampoo and Conditioner from Amazon. I wasn’t sure if I wanted the full line so I purchased it at Sephora because it was easy for me to return the items if I didn’t like them but when I run out of the product I’ll absolutely check out Amazon for Living Proof.
What I love about shopping for Living Proof on Amazon is that because there are so many complementary products (such as leave in creams, root sprays etc.), you can read all of the reviews and determine if any of them are worth buying. Of course, you can always go on Sephora and read the reviews but I feel that the Amazon reviews are real and do not sugar coat the truth.
The other great thing about shopping for hair care on Amazon is the fact that there are some products that you can’t get anywhere else, either in size or in bundle. Living proof has giant sizes of your favourite shampoos and also bundle like items together which make it easier to get the whole product suite.
If you’re looking for a blow dryer and brush in one and don’t want to invest in the Dyson Hair Wrap, then you’ll want to try the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer. The reviews for this product have been stellar and it is supposed to give you a healthy shine and blow out in one shot.
Revlon One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer on Amazon
More than 4.5/5 recommend the this product and it is easy to see why.
The product is basically a brush on the end of a wand that acts like a hair dryer as well. It is not a perfect dupe of the Dyson Hair Wrap to be honest. However, if you think of the price differential then you’re in luck – the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer is only $49.99 plus shipping where the Dyson Hair Wrap is $499!
I think we can all agree that some compromising makes sense here given the price difference and the fact that the Revlon Hair Dryer and Volumizer has a great rating on Amazon so far.
Alterna Caviar Hair Care
I love the Alterna Caviar Line and up until I did a search on Amazon, I thought you could only buy it at Sephora. However, the Caviar Anti-Aging line is readily available on Amazon Canada. The selection is quite large because the selection ranges from Shampoo to styling cream and even the scalp elixer.
WOW Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo & Hair Conditioner
Have you heard of the brand WOW for hair care? This is currently trending on Amazon’s list of the best hair care. The reason why this product is so hot right now is because it uses virgin coconut and avocado oils to rejuvenate weak and damaged hair by promoting a healthy scalp. It also uses the nutrients in the oils to replenish good vitamins that are lost in the hair.
It’s a detoxifying shampoo and conditioner that focuses on scalp hair first so while it removes build up and impurities it allows healthier hair to grow through. The key benefits that the WOW products help with are:
Clarifying, Frizz Taming, Dandruff Control and repair. You can see how these are all linked to having healthy hair from the root where it starts.
If you read the reviews, you’ll see that it takes up to about a week to see great results from the WOW system but overall, the sentiment is positive.
Don’t forget, you can also shop by brand for the best Amazon hair care products. There are other brands I didn’t quite touch on in this article such as: L’Oreal, Fekkai, Redken, Chi and more.
Do you normally leave reviews on Amazon when you try a product? Discuss!
I’m starting to feel that there’s a lot more room for the drugstore makeup dupes than I write about. Usually, I’m swayed by pretty packaging and don’t mind the price if I space out my transactions a lot I don’t notice the rising costs.
However, when I make a trip to the drugstore makeup aisle in Shoppers Drugmart, I started recognizing drugstore makeup brands releasing product that is very similar to the ones I’m seeing with the luxury beauty brands.
Everyone is familiar with glow lotions, contour kits and liquid matte stay lipstick that it really isn’t a secret to what is trending in makeup be it drugstore or luxury.
Here are some of my favourite drugstore makeup dupes I think are way better than their expensive makeup counterparts.
This drugstore primer doesn’t get the respect it deserves. It is full of Vitamins A, C and E to get moisture to that face of yours! The most similar to the hydrating face primer is the Smashbox Photofinish Primerizer (which is a favourite of mine I have to admit).
Do you know that E.L.F. Cosmetics dupes the higher end makeup and they aren’t shy about it! Sometimes, the E.L.F. drugstore versions are better than the actual dupe they are trying to beat.
Yes another E.L.F. product but this time it’s in a mist. If you’re a fan of Fix Plus by Mac or any other primer misting sprays then you’ll want to try the Illuminating Primer Mist. These primer mists usually just have some glycerin in them so they really aren’t all that innovative if you think they are just water and glycerin :).
The makeup world is obsessed with finding the perfect matte foundation and so am I. Dare to read my review of the Hourglass Seamless Vanish Foundation? At $68 Canadian I think I’ll take a pass.
The L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation has been loved by beauty bloggers everywhere and is not only light on the skin but also oil-free. If you have oily skin, read about my post about the best foundations for oily skin here and you’ll be presented with a whole lot of other matte foundations. I only like to wear matte foundations in the winter but once I’ve found one, I will stick to it. In fact, the whole L’Oreal line is close to perfect so I will leave you with that.
The NYX Total Control Drop Foundation is perfect for setting the level that you want. If you want more coverage you simply need to use the dropper to add more drops.
It’s also oil-free so if you suffer from any specific acne such as cystic, you’ll likely want to seek out an oil free foundation like this one. I am told this is a dupe and similar to the Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Foundation if you’re wondering!
The NYX Total Control Drop Foundation reviews are pretty good on Makeup Alley. You’ll likely want to use a beauty blender for this application because the product is a bit watery and using a beauty sponge versus a brush will help soak up that extra product so you don’t lose it to the bristles. Also, wait until it fully dries before applying any setting powder so that it doesn’t shift on the skin!
You may have seen this packaging everywhere and wondered what the hell this product does. Well it is one of THE BEST concealers I have ever used – way better than my NARS Creamy Concealer. This product clicks up to release product into the applicator so you don’t have to use a brush or a sponge and the product evenly distributes where you want it.
Of course, I seek the under eyes and it’s honestly so smooth and light going on I don’t even realize that I’ve applied anything but I’ve already got full coverage without cake-y lines.
This product is one of the best drugstore products in my opinion because it does exactly what it says it will and there’s absolutely NO mess. Perfect for throwing into your makeup bag!
Remember above when I said L’Oreal products are the best? The L’Oreal Finallible Pro-Glow Concealer is actually closest to my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. What is so great about this product is that the applicator is great for sculpting and contouring. A lot of people have been using their concealers in their contouring routine because it’s easy to place the product exactly where the light would hit your face.
It also has a long wear of up to 16 hours and I love products that last the entire day.
Pro Tip – One thing I would mention is that you should set this product with a loose powder or else it may slide around on your face.
Have you ever seen a blush so beautiful in your life? Honestly I am loving the makeup products by Milani. They really have a lot of the neutral colours that you’re loving from more luxury brands. Milani is a drugstore makeup line and I’m so happy they are as affordable as they are. The packaging makes the product look a lot more expensive too so you’ll want to carry around all of these pretty items in your makeup bag.
The Milani Rose Powder Blush is a matte finish blush and goes on so softly. I find this to be the perfect blush shade because you can contour with it and it has a bit of a bronzer feel if you don’t build it up.
Honestly, the Milani product are of top quality and I encourage you to try them out!
Hopefully you read my review of the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. I felt that I had to put the Butter Bronzer back into this drugstore makeup products that are way better than expensive makeup because this truly is the case for this bronzer.
Every luxury bronzer I’ve owned always has an orangey tint or doesn’t really blow me away. The Butter Bronzer smells like coconut and it’s honestly so smooth going on the skin. I apply it with a tapered contour brush and make sure to get all of the areas of my face that I want to contour.
Since it comes in a compact, it does have a little brush in the bottom so you can take this compact with you in your makeup bag and not have to worry about a specific contour brush.
The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette is one of my favourite colour stories. Maybelline makes quality eyeshadow and I love the types of palettes they put together. This eyeshadow palette is very similar to the Smashbox mini palettes because the concept is the same, throw it in your purse but you still get a variety of colours in a mini size. Let’s face it: Who actually uses all of the eyeshadows in one palette anyway?
The City Mini Palette has a mix of bronzes and golds for a shimmery and natural look. If you’re going to pick up any nude palette, I would consider this one over another luxury eyeshadow palette.
This eyeshadow concept is really everything you need in a mini eyeshadow kit. It even includes the primer, highlight and darker shadow you need to create a full eye look. This product is really great if you’re sure that you love a particular colour and wear it all the time. The Revlon Photoready Primer, Shadow + Sparkle can be compared to the Smashbox Trio Shadows but I would say that the Revlon one is even better because it includes the primer.
Ok. Hold the phone here. This is one of my all time favourite liquid lipsticks. I wore it on Valentine’s Day and no joke, my lips did not budge for the entire day and I ate way more than three times that day! The colours of the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink are very bold and bright which is great in my opinion because if you’re going to go bright, I’d rather my lipstick not budge.
Maybelline also just teamed up with Puma to release some new shades and something tells me that this lippy isn’t going away. I’ll do a full review of the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink shortly and you can read about all of the colours I am currently crushing on. However, my favourite one is called “Dreamer” which is number 015. Definitely pick it up from your local drugstore – you will not regret it!
Also, the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink is the perfect drugstore makeup dupes of brands like Stila, Kylie and Rihanna’s Fenty Liquid Lipsticks. Liquid lipsticks have been around for quite some time but with the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink you’re not getting that dried out lip look. It appears almost like a coating that allows your lips to move in any direction (and I mean ANY) and not crack because of the lipstick.
The best drugstore makeup dupes of the Milani Keep It Full Nourishing Lip Plumper have to be the lip glosses from Buxom Beauty. They are known for the nourishing and lip plumping effect and Milani just seems to do it better.
With the Buxom Beauty lip glosses, I found that they wore off within 30 minutes of wear. With the Milani Nourishing Lip Plumper, I found that my lips actually stayed moist and it didn’t wear off nor did the lip plumper feel horrible.
I know I just talked about a liquid lipstick but the Pixi Mattelast Liquid Lip has received some top notch reviews. I would compare this Liquid Lipstick to the smashbox formula. Still not as drying on the lips as other liquid lipsticks but gives a really nice pop of colour without budging.
How could I end a whole drugstore makeup dupes post without talking about a bullet lipstick and a brand that is known for it’s drugstore makeup: Wet ‘N Wild. The Silk Finish Lipstick formula is creamy on the lips and surprised me for a drugstore lipstick. Sometimes, I find drugstore lipsticks waxy and don’t go on as pigmented but I didn’t get the same feeling with the Silk Finish Lipstick by Wet ‘N Wild.
When I talk about drugstore makeup dupes I am aware not to say that I will never shop luxury makeup again but rather I am more cautious as to where I spend my money if there is something better for cheaper.
Hope you enjoyed this makeup roundup post! Let me know if you have any other drugstore makeup dupes that I’ve missed in the comments below.
As someone who writes reviews, I often read them too. Go figure. I heard oh SO much about this Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask that I had to explore what exactly it is. You should read this article if you are wondering what are some ways to treat itchy lips. If you put the Lip Sleeping Mask on at night and wake up in the morning, you’ll have soft supple lips in the winter time. This can also work well with your skin care or night time routine.
What is Laneige?
First, let`s talk about this new brand on the scene: Laneige. Laneige is a skincare brand that focuses on the idea of luxury Korean skincare without having to travel far to get it. All of the products that are created, are done with purpose around the Korean skincare regimens.
Before I go to bed, I religiously put a dot of vaseline on my lips. This usually dries out by the time my head hits the pillow because I often sleep with a fan on. I’m a snorer and it has basically saved my relationship with my husband…maybe even the reason I’m still married today! Anyway, in the morning – my lips were still flaky and dry.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Review
Enter Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I went to Sephora so I could smell the stuff. It smells like apple pie and watermelon – yum! Even if it didn’t work the way I wanted it to, I would look at this product like an everyday lip balm.
Let’s get into the actual review:
Lip Sleeping Mask Packaging
I love how big the tub is. It feels like a decent size. The lid closes tightly on the pretty pink outer that really makes me trust this brand. ALSO, it comes with a rubber lip applicator. Definitely considerate of us who have longer nails which make it hard to reach all the way into the jar.
How To Apply The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
I’ve been using the mini applicator and find that it’s not really stick to apply. As soon as I put it on my lips are hydrated. This product is supposed to plump and while I don’t really find that it does, my ultimate goal is to get soft lips at the end of the night. The product goes on smoothly which was my expectation. Check!
The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has amazing fruit extracts that are evident in the smell and the benefits this product provides. The fruit extracts in the Berry Mix Complex contain raspberry, strawberry, cranberry and blueberry. There is also a mix of hylauronic acid and other minerals that help lock in the moisture in the lips.
Laneige also came out with another flavour for the Lip Sleeping Mask which is Vanilla. The Vanilla Lip Sleeping Mask smells amazing! If you love very sweet smelling products, the vanilla lip sleeping mask is a limited edition so you’ll want to pick it up before it sells out.
Should You Buy The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask?
When I wake up the next morning, my lips no longer have any cracks and feel smooth and plump. I love this product and it’s really easy to use and produces amazing results when used consistently.
For $25 at Sephora, it’s definitely a BUY. However, I recommend going directly to Laneige because they often have unique sales that you cannot get at Sephora. You can purchase the Lip Sleeping Mask here

I have to be honest, Ole Henrikson has changed the way I view skincare. It all started with the Ole Henrikson Truth Serum and I noticed I had glowing skin that I couldn’t remember ever having. That made me think that I needed to change my skincare regimen completely. Recently, I have tried a new skincare regimen that consisted of only Ole Henrikson products. Skincare is everything! Your makeup will only take you so far if you don’t have a strong base to work with. Your skincare regimen is important to be consistent and use great products. If you want great Ole Henrikson skin, follow this guide to select your skin type and see which products have been recommended as best sellers.
This upcoming Ole Henriskon Skincare review will go into detail about the different lines they have based on your skin type because each one has a different problem to solve. I have mixed and match a few for the skincare regimen that best suits my needs. Follow me on my journey of must have products by Ole Henrikson.
Here are the different collections from Ole Henrikson, click on the one you think is most like yours and you’ll go straight to the collection for your skin type:
Truth- The Vitamin C Truth Collection – For people looking for a brighter complexion as well as anti-aging skincare. Great for combination skin as well.
Transforming Collection – The Transofrming Collection helps skin become renewed and soothed. If you’re looking for a newer and brighter face pick this collection! This is also perfect for combination skin.
Balance Collection – Do you have really oily skin? The Ole Henrikson Balance Collection is for you!
Nurture Collection – Do you have Dry Skin? Check out my top picks for The Ole Henrikson Nurture Collection.
Ole Henrikson Vitamin C Collection
The Ole Henrikson Vitamin C line is all about addressing visible signs of aging. Vitamin C helps promote a glow while reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The line also contains an advanced Hydration Complex that delivers hydration all day long. These two mega benefits create a formula that is unmatched for anti-aging or at least preventative aging.
I tried the Ole Henrikson Vitamin C serum once and returned it. I bought it back from Sephora the next day. I was unsure about the price and what it would actually do for my skin. The Ole Henrikson truth serum, is a specialized formula that brightens, firms and fights visible signs of aging and promotes collagen. Full disclosure: I’m 33 and felt like it was time to step up my skincare game and be proactive in fighting the preliminary signs of aging. The key benefit to this product is the vitamin c that carries antioxidant properties for the skin. It’s a fast absorbing oil free formula that is applied on a clean face in the morning. Not only does it feel good, it smells great with a hint of orange waking you up in the morning. When I first started using the truth serum, I thought I didn’t notice a different but when I stopped using it (during the return days), I noticed my makeup was dull. Also, I loved knowing I was fighting the aging process on my skin all day without even realizing it. This product if you buy nothing else, is a must have!
One thing is that the Henrikson Truth Serum lasts a very long time so don’t be too shocked by price because after using this product you’ll understand the value in it!
True-C Complex–stabilized vitamin C derivatives formulated to help brighten the skin and fight visible signs of aging; also delivers antioxidants
The Truth Advanced Moisturizing Creme brightens and hydrates which is the theme of the truth line. It also tightens skins and reduces the look of wrinkles. This is a perfect moisturizer for after you apply the Truth Serum. According to the Ole Henrikson website, the Advanced Moisturizing Creme contains Advanced Hydration Complex, infuses skin with multiple sources of continuous hydration throughout the day as it brightens, firms and reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles. With vitamin C and tri-peptide-5, this age-defying crème works overtime to keep skin moisturized for a soft, supple and youthfully radiant Ole Glow!
Sure, you could use soap and water and be done with it. By why not continue with the citrus theme and go full Truth facial? I was looking for a cleanser that was soft on my skin and left me feeling fresh. The Clean Truth Foaming Cleanser is light on skin and doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils. I wash my face at night so read the last section to find out what nifty little treat I put on top of a freshly cleaned face!
The Ole Henrikson Transform Line is all about exfoliating and renewing the surface of your skin. It is a good idea to combine the Transform Collection with other different Ole Henrikson Collections which is what I typically do. The ingredients in the transform collection focus on AHAs and other treatments that help to change the skin for the better.
The sheer transformation perfecting moisturizer, is the holy grail of products in my skincare regimen. I was looking high and low for a moisturizer that had an SPF in it. However, as I did more research I realized that SPF made moisturizers thicker and less enjoyable to put on. When I tried the Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer for the first time (over the truth serum), it was like my skin took a huge drink of water. Not only did I actually feel amazing but it dried clear and fast so I can apply my makeup right away. I’ve become so addicted that I bought the large size vs. the mini that I’ll keep for travelling. Another must have by Ole Henrikson skincare regimen. My skin is also acne prone and I use this moisturizer every day and never feel greasy or heavy.
Multi-fruit acids (lemon, orange, bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple)–help even skin tone and texture, lactic acid
Antioxidants–help nourish and condition skin
Sandalwood, licorice root, and chamomile extracts–help condition and soften skin
The night time stage of my skincare regimen is new to everything I’ve been doing. However, I felt it was important to take care of my skin for an entire 24 hours. after you cleanse your face, apply the Night Transformation Gel which is a serum with a similar consistency as the Truth Serum. I like to apply the Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer on top so my skin isn’t too tight as I sleep. Also, I have realized that if I have a break out, the Invigorating Night Serum makes my acne disappear overnight. I just discovered that this year and whenever I have a breakout I use this serum and wake up to clear skin.
This is a new product from Ole Henrikson – the Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner is a game changer for the transformation collection. The Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner will help eliminate sparse spots on your skin. Perhaps you’ve tanned too much? Or you have some discoloration that you hope to correct? There’s a high concentration of AHA (similar to the Invigorating Night Serum) that will help with overall skin tone. It is infused with sandalwood, camomile and licorice extracts to help your skin..
If your skin type is oily, you will want to find a foundation that works with excess oil. It is very typical for brands to make foundations that serve many skin types but the ones listed below have been highly recommended for people with oily skin. Using a foundation that is formulated for oily skin, you’ll be able to keep your skin looking less greasy and more matte throughout the day. In the new year, consider you may have oily skin you may want to change up your makeup routine to include a foundation that will be perfect for you.
How Do You Tell If You Have Oily Skin?
There are a few different ways you can tell if you have oily skin. Firstly, if your skin appears shiny mid-day you may have oily skin. You also may be acne prone skin and have blackheads and blockages in your pores, especially around your nose. Your hair may also be oily which is another indicator.
However, make sure you’re drinking enough water because sometimes people don’t really have oily skin but they are dehydrated. The skin then starts producing more oily and hence you could have oily skin for this reason. Also, ensure that you are using the proper skincare for oily skin. One of my top recommendations is the Ole Henrikson “Balance it all” line. You can click here to shop my product selection or stay tuned for another post where I’ll talk about skincare for oily skin.
This is a list of the 10 best foundations for oily skin. My favourite is the Estee Lauder Double Wear weightless foundation. I love this foundation because it isn’t too thick but the weight is perfect to last all day without my skin feeling heavy or cake-y. Plus, in the oily areas that I do have on my skin it doesn’t sludge off like some foundations do.
Even though the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is my favourite, there are still 9 other foundations for oily skin that I highly recommend.
The 10 Best Foundations for Oily Skin
Maybelline New York Fit Me Poreless Matte Foundation – $15.99
The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is one of my favourites. It is really light and easy to apply with a beauty blender. I find this foundation perfect for oily skin because of the mattifying effect. It really ensures you don’t get a shine especially in the hard to reach areas such as around your nose. Also, I find that this lasts pretty much all day and is a good formula for building up your blush and bronzer.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation –
You can read my review of the Estee Lauder Doublewear here. You’ll know that this is one of my favourite foundations ever. The Estee Lauder Doublewear Stay In Place makeup is a soft matte longwear finish but it is also a little thicker than most foundations. It is considered a medium to full coverage and I think that it is more of an elegant finish.
The Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition is perfect for oily skin because it is very lightweight and blendable. If you have oily skin it is better to look for a foundation that isn’t too heavy because it is better to let skin breathe. You can still get the dewy look with this foundation but it won’t cause your face to slick up with oil.
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer – $37
Clinique is known for its skincare focus and the Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer is perfect for oily skin types. This is a foundation and concealer in one meaning that it is more concentrated than a regular foundation. Since it is an oil-free foundation, it means that it won’t clog pores. This foundation will also last up to 24 hours and is lightweight and moisturizing. Honestly, this is the perfect foundation for oily skin if you don’t want to use a concealer as well.
NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation – $60
A bit on the pricier side of things, the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation will give you that healthy glow in an oil-free foundation. There is also an added benefit to this NARS foundation because it contains something called: Scarlet Spiderling Root Extract which Reduces discoloration over time to create a brighter, more even skin tone, while also diminishing the appearance of future dark spots. I’ve always been happy with foundations from NARS Makeup, read up on my review of the Longwear Foundation here.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – $72
If you have oily skin and still want the dewy look, I recommend the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Giorgio Armani is known for their foundation and this one offers a hydrating glow but won’t leave you too shiny or greasy. It is a very light weight foundation and makes your skin look like silk as per the name!
Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation – $52
The Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation has been used by a lot of YouTube Influencers. Available in 30 shades, combined with ultra-refined pigments, you’ll love the way that the #FauxFilter foundation blends on the skin. It also helps to diminish the visibility of acne and acne related scars. On Sephora.com you’ll see that it got a lot of mixed reviews but a lot of people say that specifically for oily skin, this foundation was a holy grail for them.
Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation – $50 CAD
The Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation is new on the makeup scene. It is a foundation with a natural matte finish, medium coverage yet it is still waterproof and sweat resistant. The Backstage Foundation works really great in humid environments which makes it perfect for oily skin because you can have the confidence that it will not budge. The look is also supposed to be really natural for this foundation, even though it is technically a medium coverage. The reviews on Sephora say that this foundation is not cake-y at all. This means you’ll get coverage for your oily skin but you won’t feel a huge buildup of foundation. If you have acne, this is also a great pick because it won’t clog your pores but give you a perfect airbrush finish.
Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick
If you’re looking for a creamier dewy look and have oily skin, you may want to look at the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick. I love this foundation stick for oily skin because you can still get a creamy and dewy look in a stick formula that won’t make your skin oilier. The Foundation Stick from Hourglass is easy to apply and blend out with a beauty sponge. This is also a longwear formula that is supposed to last for up to 12 hours. Also, it contains double the amount of pigment to allow your skin and body temperature to adjust to the colour based on your PH levels. You can even pick up some darker shades for highlighting and contouring because the stick will help you put the foundation in the correct places of the face where you’re looking for some contrast.
BAREMINERALS BAREPRO Performance Wear Powder Foundation – $37
This foundation from BareMinerals is a pressed powder foundation and comes in a compact with a mirror. The great thing about the BareMinerals BAREPRO Performance Wear Powder Foundation for oily skin is that it contains SPF and silica which helps absorb excess oil and and gives skin a soft matte finish. Also, it is free of mineral oil and other harmful parabens that can be found in foundation. BareMinerals often focuses on skin first and makeup second so this foundation is non-comedogenic, meaning it is less likely to cause acne than other foundations.
Other Makeup Tips for Oily Skin
Now that you have a list of the foundations that are best for oily skin, you may be wondering what kind of other makeup is for you. For oily skin you should stay away from cream blushes or liquid makeup. Cream blushes and bronzers can get greasy and slide off your face especially in warmer months.
I would pick powder blushes and powder bronzer to add to your makeup routine. If you have oily eyelids, make sure you use an eyeshadow primer. I wrote a blog post on the best eyeshadow primers so be sure to read all about it here.
As for lipsticks and other lip products, you’re probably good with anything that you pick so I won’t go into detail here.
I hope you enjoyed this list for the best foundations for oily skin. Of course, there are more foundations out there but these are the top 10 that I recommend. I will also be updating this list to include more foundations for oily skin that continue to get released throughout 2019.

Of course, you know my number one favourite of the best beauty blogs is my own: Beauty Reviews Canada. There are so many other bloggers that I admire that I wanted to compile a list of the best beauty blogs so that you can have an easy way to follow and curate your favourite lists also!
Beauty bloggers spend a lot of hard work and energy to make their blogs fresh and new. There are definitely reasons why some of the best beauty blogs are in this list of 40.
Let’s get into the list of the best beauty blogs and if I’ve missed any, feel free to list some in the comments below!
If you love Glossier, you’ll love this blog that is actually built by the members of Glossier in 2010. Into the Gloss is a lifestyle blog focused on beauty which led Emily Weiss to create Glossier products in 2014. Glossier is a modern makeup brand that has a high emphasis on skincare products. Into The Gloss focuses on Makeup, Skincare, Hair and Interviews of those influential people you know and love. The great thing about this blog is that you’re getting trending products that aren’t only from Glossier’s product line.
If you are into Makeup, it’s pretty obvious that Makeup.com is one of the best places to look for makeup reviews and tips. Am I right? I love Makeup.com because they organize their website by feature but also by seasonal trending makeup. They also use bright colours and imagery to get the point across. Makeup.com is also owned by L’Oreal so you know you are bound to get some quality makeup pointers.
If you love imagery and bold makeup looks (or maybe not so bold), Beauty is Boring is the perfect blog for forward thinkers. Robin Black owns this blog and she’s extremely creative in all of her work. She’s going for an editorial aesthetic and has been featured in Vogue a number of times. You’ll never be boring with this blog – promise!
Prime Beauty Blog is an up to date beauty blog focusing on women who are over 40. Cindy ensures her posts feature the latest in beauty and skincare but from another point of view. Cindy hopes to inspire her readers with tips, tricks, product reviews and giveaways! Of course, readers under 40 can also gain a lot of value out of her blog so I encourage everyone to read and subscribe!
Beauty Bulletins focuses on cruelty free makeup and skincare. Beauty Bulletins focuses on brands that are cruelty free but also dupes of brands that aren’t cruelty free and she gives you a ton of options.
With over 10 years of experience, Makeup and Beauty Blog is run by Karen who describes her blog as an online magazine that highlights all about her love of makeup. Her favourite brand is MAC so you’ll be seeing a lot of products surrounding that and of course smokey eyeshadow looks!
Caroline Hirons is a globally qualified advanced technician. She is contracted and trained by over 100 brands including: Pixi, Herbavoire and more. She’s been in the retail space for over 34 years and counting and continues to be an expert in this industry. She posts about 1x per week and she focuses on round ups and giveaways to name a few of my favourite posts on her blog.
The Beauty Department was started by the one and only Kristen Ess along with Amy Nadine. focuses on how twos and tutorials for the latest in makeup, skin and haircare. One of my favourite posts right now is three minute makeup and their favourite mascara technique. They focus on helping women find easy ways to look their best and promote confidence. A win-win with this blog!
Beauty That Walks doesn’t only focus on makeup but more about the lifestyle and how makeup can be incorporated into your everyday life. In terms of beauty, Beauty that Walks is very honest with their reviews and tries to show specific application of her favourite products.
Glossy Polish is one of the more honest beauty blogs I have come across. Somya focuses on acne and skincare troubles and recommends the best products based on your skin type. Glossy Polish also features home remedies and D.I.Y. beauty projects where you can create your own beauty remedies from scratch.
Hooked on Beauty is run by Carissa since 2007, and not only does celebrity bridal makeup but focuses on how to get great beauty products for less. I love the different aspects on her blog that either talk about ‘green beauty’, tips and tricks and specific medical treatments where you can follow along her journey.
Kimberly Loc started her blog in 2010 and focuses on green beauty before that was even a thing! Based out of Kansas City, she has an impressive freelance resume as well as has a body oil where she collaborated with Rachel’s Plan Bee which is a well known green beauty brand.
Musings of a Muse is one of my favourite beauty reviews blogs ever. She honestly inspires me to keep going on my own product reviews. I find that Musings of a Muse keeps up with the latest beauty products and I can always count on her to be honest with the latest product launches. Also, I appreciate how short the posts are because sometimes I just want small snippets of information and she always delivers.
Lisa is one of the world’s best beauty bloggers. She is very professional in everything that she does and her website and YouTube videos are top notch with over 1.8 million subscribers. Lisa is a highly respected makeup artist and has lived all over the world. If you’re looking to aspire to a blogger who has been in the business for a long time, be sure to follow Lisa.
The Wanderlust Project features a lot about Korean cosmetics and skincare. 2018 has allowed the Korean market to be well known for their skincare 10 step regimen and Sheryll goes into this topic deeply. Among her favourites, she talks about Laneige skincare which is one of my favourite products right now *especially the lip sleeping mask* (read the review here).
This roundup post of beauty bloggers has become so inspiring to me. I stumbled upon Miss Whoever You Are while during my research. She has an added flair to her videos and comes across as truly authentic and strong in her opinions. I also like her about me page where you can get to know her in 100 facts about her. She not only focuses on beauty but fashion as well which makes this a front runner that I’ve started to follow her on social media.
There’s one post in particular that I love on this blog and it’s a round up of Sabrina’s top products and beauty favourites. All of her photos are so crisp and clean and laid out so perfectly. It’s really hard to take photos and edit them so clearly and labels each one perfectly so her thoughts are easy to follow. On Instagram she has over 80,000 followers so I would say Sabrina is an established beauty blogger to say the least!
I love a good banter and Sarah Howard (her father started Makeup Forever) from Beauty Banter definitely gives me the information I crave about my skin. Skincare ranks highly here over makeup and I find that their posts are short and sweet while uncovering certain tricks and tips that I take with me. I get somewhat of a “Glossier” vibe from Beauty Banter which is great because I get another take on the natural beauty look.
The Best Sephora Holiday Gift Sets You Can’t Live Without
Sephora has exploded with holiday sets and I’m going to tell you which of the best Sephora Holiday Gift Sets you need to own in 2018.
If you are a makeup fanatic like me, you know that Sephora has the best holiday gift sets. Now is the best time to stock up on makeup because brands usually have very specific packages for Christmas that you can’t get anywhere else.
P.S. If you’re reading this, VIB status holders get 20% OFF November 9 – 12 and Beauty Insiders get 15% OFF November 16 – 19. Click now to start saving. If you are a Rouge, I’m likely writing this post too late but hopefully you got the best Sephora Holiday Gift Sets already!
You can go in store or order online to get the same products so don’t worry if your local Sephora is out of stock, your item will hopefully be available online.
I’ll go into the best Sephora Holiday Gift Sets for makeup, skincare and haircare. Don’t forget that there are a ton of Sephora own gift sets where their Beauty gurus put together the best products in smaller sizes so you can try them out. I’ll get into Sephora favourites later on in the post (or click here to skip ahead).
I am starting with NARS because I love the quality of their products. I’ve seen this in store and the case that it comes in is perfect for storing fun little things such as jewelry. This makes the perfect stocking stuffer if you didn’t already get this idea from the case. Also, if you’re familiar with NARS you’ll know that the Orgasm colour is one of their top sellers. NARS blush is also amazing – if you haven’t already, check out my post on some NARS blush dupes because they can be really expensive.
If you miss this Becca highlighter kit or it sells out, you’ll be disappointed. One highlighter from Becca is equivalent to all of these different colours. Included in this package are 4 highlighters in the colours: Opal, Rose Quartz, Vanilla Quartz and Prismatic Amethyst. All of these highlighters are delicious in their own way which is why they are called mini macarons! I promise this will sell out for Christmas 2018 so I encourage you to pick this up.
This is one of the hottest gifts of Christmas 2018! If you’re into cut creases or just changing up your look in general, the Stila liquid shimmer shadows should be your go to. These are also really easy to apply and they don’t leave your eye lids feeling stiff. In this set are the following colours: Kitten which is a vibrant nude pink, Cloud a lavender grey which is a cool tone and Twig which is a chestnut brown. Honestly, you can create so many looks with this gift set.
This set by tarte is totally worth it for the value. You get an eye shadow palette which is shaped like a pineapple complete with 24 shades including a mix of shimmer and matte colours. There is also a blush quad of the famous Amazonian clay blush which is a best seller. You also get a full sized mascara, liquid liner and a Rainforest of the Sea quenching balm. The quality of tarte eye shadows are top quality. I think the value of this gift set is one of the best Sephora Holiday Gifts Sets of 2018!
Literally the most versatile eyeshadow palette I could find. Charlotte Tilbury is also known for their glam and luxury but easy to wear shades. ‘The Uptown Girl’ consists of smokey colours as well as muted pink tones. It’s perfect for creating a smokey eye look or just to wear the lighter colours on their own. The formula is amazing and the shades blend really well for easy transition blending.
Best Sephora Holiday Gift Sets for Skincare
I feel that there are more skincare gift sets at Sephora this holiday season. Skincare is really catching on because obviously you need great skincare to create a perfect makeup look. Amiright?
If you have read some of my reviews on Drunk Elephant (B-Hydra Review and Marula Oil Review), you’ll know I’m a big fan of the whole entire line. What’s even better is that in the Drunk Elephant gift set at Sephora, they give you a few products to get you going so you don’t have to buy full sized products until you find that they are working for you. In the Drunk Elephant Agent Ellie Kit which is made for daytime, you get: Full size S-Firma serum, Shaba Complex Eye Serum (small size), Umba Tinte (small size), B-Hydra (small size) and the protini moisturizer (also a small size). The C-Firma can be compared to Ole Henrikson’s Truth Serum and I feel that a proper serum is really important to have in your skincare regimen.
If you’re familiar with the First Aid Beauty line, you’ll know that they continue to win so many awards for their products including their moisturizers and cleansers. This set is all about glowing and getting rid of dullness and uneven texture. Included in the kit is the Pure Skin Face Cleanser, Ultra Repair Cream, Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal mask, Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum, Facial Radiance pads. I think this skincare kit is perfect for everyday and you can even use the Oatmeal mask to relax on stressful days!
This is my absolute favourite skincare gift set from Sephora for 2018. Hands down, the most value you could ever get in a skin set. There are 6 high powered masks from the reputable Peter Thomas Roth. Included in the Peter Thomas Roth Mask Frenzy are the following:
Irish Moor Mud Mask – Purifying and hydrating to draw out dirt and oil
Hungarian Thermal Water Mineral Rich Atomic Heat Mask – brings out the benefits of the Hungarian thermal water
Rose Stem Cell – Uses bio tech to nourish the skin and rejuvinate dull skin
Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer is used as an exfoliating rejuvenation for dull and aging skin
24 Hr Gold Mask Pure Luxury Lift & Firm – Anti-aging powers that is infused with 24K gold
Cucumber Gel Mask Extreme De-Tox – Hydrates and soothes with botanical extracts
If you’re going to buy any masking fit set this Christmas, I definitely recommend the Peter Thomas Roth Mask Frenzy.
Tatcha is known for its Japenese skincare sourced with only the most natural ingredients. The Tatcha obento box contains a unique selection of items to get your skin glowing. In the box contains:
1x Full Size Luminous Dewy Skin Mist (read my entire review of the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist here)
1x The Water Cream (travel size – read my review of the water cream here)
1x The Silk Canvas (travel size) – This is a foundation primer for before you apply your makeup
1x Violet-C radiant mask (travel size)
All of these products are set to get your skin prepped for makeup application. A common ingredient in all of these items is hylauronic acid which is recommended for the ultimate hydration. The Silk Canvas primer is usually sold at at local Sephora stores at it is one of the best foundation primers out there and is quite hard to come by at times.
This gift set from Caudalie is great for brightening including lightening acne scars and increasing skin brightness all over. The Caudalie brightening hero gift set focuses on the Vinoperfect line and includes:
1x Vinoperfect Radiant Serum
1x Vinoperfect Overnight Renewal Cream
1x Vinoperfect Glycolic Brightening Essence
The Vinoperfect line when used together is a lot better than if you use a product here or there. On Sephora’s website, it’s known as one of the best Sephora Holiday Gift Sets 2018 because the Caudalie products are quite expensive. You are getting a $116 value for $89 which is a savings of $27 which is a discount you can’t really get throughout the year.
Best Sephora Favourites Sets
Sephora has done a creative move here where they put some of the best products together in sets that are grouped by themes. For example, there is a glow kit that consists a collections of highlighters or a mascara kit that allows you to sample up to 8 mascaras plus full sized products. The Sephora favourites are perfect for sampling products that you aren’t sure if you want to buy the full size of.
Sephora did change their return policy that only allows you to return something within 30 days of purchase. Additionally, if you return products too often then you’ll be flagged and won’t be allowed to continue with future returns. If you are someone who consistently returns items at Sephora then I would suggest that you pick up a favourite set. Here are the best Sephora gift sets that part of the Sephora Favourites Sets:
The Sephora Favourites Give me More Lip set combines the best lipsticks that are currently sold. There are luxury brands within this set including Yves Saint Laurent, Charlotte Tilbury’s best selling pillow talk lipstick, Marc Jacobs liquid lipstick and even a NARS velvet smooth stick. There is a mix of pinky nudes as well as reds and burgundy colours. In my opinion, this is the best Sephora Favourite Gift set for the value since it comes with 5 full sized lipsticks!
If you are looking for the holy grail of gift sets then look no further than the Sephora Favorites Beauty Vault! Literally any and every product you could be looking for at Sephora is available in this beauty vault. Some of the brands that are included in this gift set are: Becca, Fresh Bobbi Brown, Buxom, Hourglass and Laura Mercier. There is a collection of lipsticks, mascara, cheek and other products. It’s a full face of makeup in one box! There are 21 products included in total and it even contains a set of lashes.
Mascaras are the type of makeup product that I like to switch up after I use one for awhile. Right now I’m using the NARS Climaxx Mascara (read the review here). However, when I’m finished using this mascara, I’ll likely switch it up and this is where the Sephora Favorites comes in!
Some of the brands included in the Sephora Favorites Lash Stash include: Benefit, Dior Dior Show, Hourglass, Lancome, Marc Jacobs and Milk Beauty. It comes with eight deluxe sample size mascaras and one full size mascara. Totally worth it in my opinion and you can use the smaller mascaras for travel or give them to your friends as gifts!

If you are familiar with the term “vault” well look no further than Sephora’s range of luxury vaults. This means that there is a whole entire kit dedicated to these vaults. You get the entire slew of colours and shade ranges. These vaults are not only great prices but they are limited editions when it comes time for Christmas. I recommend if you know you love a particular product or brand that you pick up these vaults at Sephora before they go. These are similar to PR vault boxes that a lot of beauty bloggers get so for a small fee these too can be yours from your favourite brand!
COVER FX has exploded on the scene with these highlighters. They come with a dropper which is great because you can control where and how much product comes out. This COVER FX Vault has colours that range from copper to blue – yes blue! A lot of Instagrammers love using the COVER FX drops because they are so versatile and can be mixed into foundation or sit on top for a healthy dewy glow. If you purchase this vault you’ll likely never have to buy highlighter again!
Urban Decay has been up to a lot in 2018 and if you are familiar with one of their newest palettes for 2018, you’ll know that Born to Run is a multi-coloured palette that is versatile for all seasons. In the Born to Run Vault what makes it such a great gift is that it actually contains a strap purse along with other Urban Decay best selling items such as their eyeshadow primer. This makes such a great gift for Christmas for that special person in your life who is always on the run.
NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick is one of my ultimate favourite formulas in a lipstick. The NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick glides on so nicely for a creamy finish but it also lasts all day long. Additionally, the colours in this vault by NARS are perfect for fall and winter and even to carry you through to spring. This vault will cost you $204 Canadian but if you were to buy these lipsticks on their own it would cost you $340. For that reason, the NARS Vlvet Matte Lipstick is a steal and only around for a limited time!
Everyone is really impressed by the Fenty Beauty line by Rihanna. These Match Stix are shimmer sticks that can be used for anything! Use them as cream based eyeshadow or use some of the darker shades for contouring and highlighting. However you use them you’ll love the creamy formula of these guys.
There you have my picks for the best Sephora Holiday Gift Sets 2018. There are so many other smaller gift picks that I’d recommend so stay tuned for future posts!
