Bean's Beauty Blog is written by me, Georgie and was founded late in 2013. The reader will discover a mixture of high street and high end product reviews, hauls, a little fashion and general life articles. You will often find me rambling on about one of my favourite things; skincare. Obsessed with cleansers, toners and face masks, if you love a little skin maintenance, then this is the..
It seems that with my lack of blogging lately (yes, I’m sorry for that – I didn’t end last year nor start this one quite how I intended), I have been testing new products as opposed to writing about them. And then falling in love with a bunch of new things…
Surprisingly I have found new goodies which I like even more than products I had been loving and using regularly for years. So, I took a trip to our local beach, shivered my nips off (I forgot coat, hat, gloves, thermals, scarf – smart cookie here) and shot a million and one pictures for this post.
We all know I love great skincare and base products so for a change and to mix things up, let’s talk fragrance first.
It’s not often a fragrance replaces or at least is used in preference to an old favourite (Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede – I would say is my signature fragrance). Let me introduce another exciting scent from the wonderful Jo Malone, let’s give a massive hand to…
Jasmine, Sandbac and Marigold
Much more intense and deeper than Peony and Blush Suede (floral and perfect for daily wear). JSM is sexy, still on the floral side yet rich and slightly mysterious. This slick black bottle is welcome on any dressing table and to any perfume collection. A quick spritz of this in the morning will last all day. At 5pm you’ll still be thinking, ‘wow, I smell goooodd!’ and ‘how did I survive the day without this before’. Of course this scent isn’t essential for survival, however I do urge you to try once you are next near a Malone counter.
Another scent to join the fragrance family over Christmas is Dior’s latest release Joy. Fresh and floral this is a lovely scent perfect for work. Non offensive, yet feel good. It’s clean sheets, a sunny day and the most amazing fruit salad mixed together and bottled. As Marie Kondo would say this literally sparks Joy!
As well as smelling good, it’s important to me that I look after my skin and my skin looks on point. I try my best with skincare and am always on the look out for new products to work best with my dry skin and to give optimum results. Cleansing is super important, as you all know.
Votary’s Rose Geranium and Apricot Cleansing Oil is just incredible.
The oil is thick enough to feel like it’s nourishing the skin and removing every last scrap of dirt from your face, however there is no greasy residue after rinsing. My complexion feels balanced, clear and super soft after using this. The scent is floral yet subtle. A great cleansing oil to add to any bathroom cabinet. Suitable for all skin types. It comes with the most super soft flannel which is now reserved purely to work alongside this fabulous oil! For the days when my skin looks good, I have only been using one base product.
By Terry’s Celluarose Brightening CC Serum (Apricot Glow).
A rose scented serum which applies to the skin like a dream. Skincare combined with makeup is always a winner to me and By Terry’s Serum is no exception. Perfect to even out skin tone this miracle serum leaves skin glowing and healthy and well just natural. Perfect for off duty days.
For when I need a little more coverage a pump and a half of Nars’ Radiant Longwear Foundation covers a multitude of sins.
The most perfect foundation to even out skin tone and to cover any imperfections in the most natural way without the need for concealer. Whilst doing all this, this foundation somehow leaves the most beautiful natural glow to the skin. The formula blends beautifully and lasts all day. And it works a treat applied over By Terry’s Serum. Just think a double dosage of glow. Can’t be bad hey?
The final product and an absolute game changer is from Drunk Elephant.
Every single product I have tried from them, be it a trial size, sample or part of a kit, I have fallen in love with. Some products have worked better with my skin than others, TLC Frambose Glycolic Night Serum is one of those products. Lightweight and easy to apply, this sinks into the skin quickly. As the name suggests this is raspberry scented and by morning my skin looks and feels smooth. TLC renews skin overnight.
Drunk Elephant also recommend using on the backs of hands, which is also very welcome. If you have dry and rougher hands than you would like, paired with an intense hand cream for use in the day, this works really well.
I started off with a mini of this, didn’t even finish that and invested in this product straight away. It’s so good it really has improved the texture of my skin. Any little bumps have all but disappeared to leave a much smoother complexion all round. I credit TLC as the one product which has helped me to feel so confident in my skin that now I find I use foundation less and less. Which in turn is also improving my skin.
Have you tried any of these products? Do you love them as much as me or are they on your to try list? Is there anything I need to try this January? Please do sound off below.
