The Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) is the official governing body for the sport of weightlifting in Asia. It is responsible for organizing competitions such as the Asian Weightlifting Championships and setting down rules and guidelines.

Ten (10) new bodyweight categories for women and ten (10) new categories for men were approved by the IWF Executive Board. These will be used in IWF World Championships in November 2018 at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Moreover, seven (7) of each of these categories were also approved for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Myanmar Weightlifting Federation (MWF) was held the Youth Weightlifting Competition as 2018 Olympic Day Run on June 16, 2018 at Training Hall of MWF, Yangon, Myanmar. There are 40 youth lifters in this event. Moreover, this event was honored by Mr. MIN Thu Htet, the Vice President, Mr. THI Han, the Secretary General, and Mr. BA LA Kyaw Thu, the Vice Principal of the Institute of Sports and Physical Education, MWF Executive Members attended in the event.
AWF Executive Board Meeting was held on June 21st, 2018 at Intercontinental Hotel, Doha, Qatar. In this occasion, Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mana, the President, and Mrs. Boossaba Yodbangtoey, General Secretary, were honored to welcome the Executive Members to participate in the meeting. Moreover, there are the honorable guests from International Weightlifting Federation (IWF): Dr. Tamás Aján, IWF President, Maj.Gen. Intarat Yodbangtoey, 1st IWF Vice President, Mr. Mohammed Hassan Jalood, IWF General Secretary, Mr. Zhanat Tussupbekov, IWF Vice President, Mr. Nicu Vlad, IWF Chairman of Technical Committee, Ms. Lilla Rozgonyi, IWF Director of Communication & Marketing, came to join and discuss in this meeting.
All Indonesia Weightlifting, Bodybuilding and Powerlifting Association (AIWBPA), supporting by Ministry of Youth and Sports Republic Indonesia has taken much pleasure to invite AWF Members to participate in the Satria Remaja International Open Weightlifting Championships (Pre Youth & Youth International Weightlifting Championships 2018) which will be held during July 29 – August 7, 2018 at Denpasar, Bali province, Indonesia. The host will provide free accommodation for 8 athletes and 2 officials / country. The details are as followings:
The Malaysian Weightlifting Federation (MWF) made a final decision on yesterday (30th May) that they will not send weightlifting athletes for any international competition, championship or meet for a period of one year effective immediately. This decision means that they will not send the athletes to compete at the Asian Games at Indonesia in August. Furthermore, if the weightlifters want to participate in local tournaments, they will need to obtain a Doping Free Certification and undergo dope test at the Malaysian Anti-Doping Agency (ADAMAS).
According to the coaching programs which were held in Thailand and Laos, the lecturers, supported by AWF, educated Thai and Laos participants to learn and develop their skills to be a good coach. In addition, Cambodian team also sent their coaches to participate in the program which was held in Thailand, too. After the program, there are good signals that the weightlifters, both countries, participated in the EGAT International Championship during 1 - 10 May 2018 at Thung song, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. They wanted real experiences from the competition to develop their performances.
Myanmar Weightlifting Federation had been celebrated the President’s Cup of MMF Weightlifting Competition 2018 from 31st March to 2nd April 2018 at Yangon, Myanmar. It has about 100 lifters in both Youth and Junior and this competition was sponsored by U Aung Chit, the President of MWF.
