Emily & Basil!

January of 2018 I hopped in a car to move my cousin Lauren out to Denver where she’d start another travel nursing contract. Leaving her in Colorado was a little easier than I had anticipated because her childhood friend, Emily and her husband, Basil reside there. I got to know these two well during my visit and asked if they’d be up for a 4 hour drive to the southern half of the state. I kept imagining them running around Great Sand Dunes National Park with a perfect orange sunset in the background. Super stoked they were down to make that vision a reality.

If you’ve never been, I urge you to make a visit to this fascinating place. These sand dunes are the tallest of all the dunes in North America. They’re strangely placed in between mountains… with no ocean in sight. That’s a bit wild if you ask me. I hope I make it back to do a little more exploring in the future.

Thanks for looking! Hope you enjoy!

Let’s face it, I’m awful at blogging. Today is Shelby & Josh’s 1st wedding anniversary and I’m just now getting around to sharing their beautiful and intimate desert wedding in Joshua Tree, California. Maybe it’s not so bad I waited a year because these two will get a chance look at this post and relieve their day all over.

A few months prior to Shelby & Josh’s wedding day, I was visiting my best friend in San Diego. We took a day trip to explore JT and Shelby saw the photos (http://ashleywallacephoto.com/jayd-noam-couples-session-joshua-tree-california/). She immediately fell in love and decided that she wanted to marry Josh in in this beautiful place with her parents, myself and my husband witnessing. Positive I was happy crying throughout the entire ceremony. It’s a really cool thing to watch your friends commit their lives to one another.

Shelby and I met in a college photo class 6 or 7 years ago. I saw her My Neighbor Totoro phone case and made a beeline toward her to introduce myself and share my love for all things Studio Ghibli. We have always clicked, but especially when it comes to our cats and well, really any animal in the world. One of my favorite things Shelby and I used to do was share baby animal photos to each other’s Facebook walls. Maybe we should start that again? The past few years Shelby assisted me at several weddings, and did a dang good job at it too. She’s an incredible senior portrait photographer here in Columbus! Take a look at her work – https://www.shelbybabbert.com!

I have had a blast getting to know this woman, the love she has for Josh, and their amazing families over the years. Next month I will be back in California photographing Josh’s sister’s wedding in Tahoe and I absolutely can’t wait!

Thanks for looking!
