Valid

We’re all a little guilty of not looking after our skin from time to time.

Throughout summer especially, we put our skin through a lot, and it usually needs a little extra care. When we think of a detox, we immediately think of detoxing our bodies from the inside, but you can do the same for your skin from the outside. I’ve teamed up with Okana Skin Care to show you guys my faves from the range and how to use them to detox your skin. Between cleansing, masking, steaming, and more you’ll be able to renew your skin as needed. Keep reading for a breakdown on how to detox your skin the right way, along with some great products to help.

DEEP CLEAN

The first step in detoxifying your skin is a deep cleansing session. I always cleanse twice especially at the end of the day. Using the Okana range, I remove my makeup and toxins from the day with the Mango & Apricot Sorbet Cleanser, this cleanses well beyond the surface and will draw out any impurities getting in the way of your detox. Because of the oil base I steam if off with a hot face cloth. Then I follow up with the Apple Juice Foaming Cleanser for a light, foaming clean.

EXFOLIATION

Exfoliation should be part of everyone’s skincare routine. The process helps to eliminate dead skin cells that could be blocking your pores. This should be done at least once a week. When my skin is dull and tired looking I follow my deep cleanse with the Bamboo Beads Face Scrub. This re-mineralises and conditions your skin and because the bamboo powder is high in minerals and silicas it exfoliates without damaging your sensitive skin.

MOISTURISE, MOISTURISE, MOISTURISE

You can’t get smoother skin if you don’t moisturise. If you’ve noticed any dry flakes or patches as of late, then it might be time to swap out your current moisturiser for something a bit richer. A heavier moisturiser can help keep any dryness away and make your skin appear smoother. I’ve been loving the Vegetable Garden Moisturiser from Okana is rich in antioxidants and contains Apricot oil and Olive oil.

STAY HYDRATED

If you’re dehydrated internally, it will show on your face. One of the easiest ways to care for your skin is by staying hydrated and drinking as much water as possible. Your skin will appear a lot less dull and more youthful if you drink the recommended 8-12 glasses per day!

LIPSTICKS ON REPEAT

Looking “put together” is a daily challenge that most of us have to face. Women that wear a good lipstick always look like they have there shit together. You don’t even need to wear full-glam, a simple barely there makeup paired with bold lipstick makes several statements: “I am here,” “I am ready for whatever today serves me” and “I cared enough about being here that I made my lips look THIS hot.”

Lipstick is an affordable and easy way to make a statement without spending a great deal of time or effort. So that brings me to this post, here is a little peak into my current lipstick loves. These are the shades that I’ve been wearing on repeat and I can’t get enough of.

I hope you guys love this edit and you may even find something for yourself! Muah x

MEET AKI ANG.

Blogger, Art Director, Photographer.

Auckland, NZ.

I AM INSPIRED BY……
Marco Bizzarri (along with Alessandro Michele of course), the super-minds that are shaping the global fashion industry. I admire how Marco strategies his brand culture and build a company that evolves with technology and time. Genius!
THE BASICS I LOVE ARE…
The closest things to basics I have are graphic tees, I collect tones of them from high end to high street labels. Others might include jeans and shirts that cut differently.
THE WEIRDEST DREAM I’VE HAD IS….
Nothing is too weird for me I guess, but if I have to pull one out, that might be the night I dreamt of a quantum physics formula that cracks some sort of G force field, something like that. I woke up and wondering WTH was that… too much movies I guess.
I ALWAYS WEAR…
The weirdest clothes, according to my boyfriend.
MY FAVORITE NEW BRAND DISCOVERY IS…
Nanushka, love their vegan leather pants!
WEARING….
Close to no make up (sorry!), 4 year old Kenzo jumper dress, ASOS pants, Zara mules, Fendi bag.

Highlighters are your makeup bag’s necessity.

Regardless of whether I’m going for coffee or attending a more formal event, my highlight is always applied before I leave the house. Yes. I’m highlight obsessed. Looking at my collection right now, I have 13 highlighters, and I recently did a clear out. I’ve tested a lot, made A LOT of mistakes and have only recently found my highlighting technique.

Through all of this, I have learned to love so many products on the highlighting market. Between liquids, powders, or creams- there are a tonne of different formulas to give you that glow of your dreams. It’s up to you what kind of finish you want, whether that’s a full beam highlight or a more subtle glow.

Want some tips and tricks to get the best glow ever? Keep scrolling!

Choose your highlighter.

You need to figure out which formula works best for you and your skin type. Recently I’ve been really into the powder highlighters, like this one from YSL or this one from theBalm. They melt into my skin and give it a very natural type of finish.

Depending on the type of skin you have, sometimes that extra bit of shine isn’t what you’re going for. For example, if your skin is on more of the oily side (like me!), powder highlighters are generally the way to go. If you have combo skin, a cream highlighter would be great like this one from Fenty Beauty, and if you have dry skin- try a liquid highlighter like this one from Jeffree Star!

Find your shade.

There are so many shades and reflects to play with when it comes to highlight. Some are golden, some are more iridescent or pinky, and I even have one with rainbow undertones. It all depends on your skin tone and what type of look you’re going for. Personally, I like to play around with the more iridescent and pink shades during the summer to show off my tan. I then utilize the more bronze and golden highlighters to warm up my face during the winter. Mac Extra Dimension Finish is a personal favorite of mine! I have it in the shade Show Gold, which is a peach tone that breaks pink! Super pretty.

Know where to put it.

We’ve come a long way since the highlighting boom a few years ago…. When we strobed our faces to our hearts content, and diminished any need for contouring. Luckily that trend has died and gone, but we continue to glow up our cheekbones in the hopes of looking effortlessly flawless. Thanks to the help of YouTube beauty gurus I now have learned to apply not only to my cheekbones, but on the bridge of my nose, the inner corners of my eyes, my cupid’s bow- and even my décolletage if I’m wearing something low cut. (MAC Strobe cream is actually perfect for this!)

Application Tools.

This is a simple one for me, when I’m applying my powder highlighter, I’ll use a fluffy brush like this one to apply. Otherwise I’ll just use my fingers for creams and liquids, I find it easier and even quicker to blend out then using a beauty blender or brush.

Do you guys have any highlighter tips and tricks that you use? Let me know in the comments down below!

I’m going to start this blog by saying that this trip was booked about four days from flying out (so out of character for me, but so good doing something a little spontaneous!) So this trip wasn’t planned very well at all, no homework was done, we just booked and went! While that may explain the lack of us venturing out, we still had the most amazing time and we loved our short trip to Bali!

WHERE WE STAYED

Booking last minute meant taking what I could get! I found a resort in the heart of Seminyak called The Breezes and booked it (the swim up pool bar sold me in the end) I would normally like to stay in a Villa, and when I return to Bali, I’ll do just that. However, I loved the service we received at The Breezes Resort and Spa! Our first full day there was Richards birthday, they brought him out a pancake “cake” and sang which was really lovely! And yes the pancakes were really good!

What we loved about it:

The Daily Breakfast! If there is one thing they do well it’s the phenomenal breakfast served daily.

The Spa Devine massages, slightly more expensive then your typical spot in Bali but completely worth it!

The Location We were a short walk to the beach or to the shops and if you needed a cab, the front desk organized you one in a matter of seconds

The Coconut Bar! I do love fresh coconut water, so it was such a bonus that this was available! Loved drinking my coconuts and Bintangs by the pool!

The exceptional service You just can’t beat the beautiful Balinese service

What we didn’t love:

It got busy On our last day, the resort became really busy! In fact it was hard for us to get a day bed by the pool, this resort is way better when it’s not fully booked!

The Cocktails Maybe I’m just a little fussy but the cocktails were not my jam! Where I got my cocktail fix is coming up soon!

WHERE WE ATE

Sea Circus Fresh food, delish smoothies and healthy wheatgrass shots (if that’s your thing) This was by far my favourite spot for fresh daily food!

Mama San Asian Fusion, perfect for when your out and wanna eat somewhere a little more trendy (had some serious Hong Kong Vibes here)

D’Alas Warung This was actually situated in Ubud (not Seminyak) and had the best view of the jungle. I seriously felt so zen here haha, good food and a cute swing here too so you can snap up a photo opportunity!

WHERE WE DRANK

La Plancha Yummy cocktails, bright umbrellas and fun music! Perfect spot to watch the sunset for sure.

Neon Palms My favourite spot in Seminyak for cocktails! I loved this (slightly) hidden gem, situated above the Bali Boat Shed making it an intimate place for fab cocktails. Tip, head down on a Tuesday for two for one drinks!

Potato Head While I don’t believe this is the best day bar in Seminyak I still had to admit it was pretty cool. While we didn’t manage to get a day bed (you have to get there super early!) We walked upstairs to the Indonesian restaurant and drank cocktails above the bar while watching the sunset. Dreamboat.

WHO DROVE US EVERYWHERE?

We found a driver through our hotel, he drove us on our bigger day trips or to and from the airport. It’s important to find a good driver who is trustworthy and easy going! We used WhatsApp to contact him (everyone uses it over there) If your wanting a good driver message Jus on +62 812 3930 1234

WHO MASSAGED US

Out of our five day stay I had three massages, the first being at our resort and the second two at Bodyworks. The spa may have been slightly more luxurious feeling but both were equally relaxing in my case.

THE SPA I booked a 2 hour treatment which consisted of Full body massage, Body scrub and a Body mask. While the mask was on my skin I had a express facial. Loved this treatment! So relaxing!! And my girlfriend even booked one here and loved it just as much.

BODYWORKS I booked a half hour massage followed with a Hair Mask and Blow Wave. While the hair mask was on I had a neck, shoulder and arm massage. Super relaxing! Especially since I had just had my half hour back massage! Highly recommend this service, my hair felt and looked so good afterwards! If your booking the hair mask, book the blow wave too, so worth it, and your going to feel gorg after.

I truly loved our whirlwind trip to Bali! In fact we’re already planning our trip back next year!

I hope you enjoy my recommendations, and even get to try a few out for yourselves, let me know in the comments if you’re planning a visit soon!

Is there a better outfit combo than a cropped sweater and high waisted pants right now? I don’t think so, I’m just obsessed with the current Autumn-Winter transition and the fun outfits it’s currently bringing to the table.

As much as I dislike the cold, I do love a good winter outfit (usually complete with a gorgeous pair of boots)

Bright yellows, reds and greens are all what I’m currently crushing on, especially in sweater version. So I was so please to find this gorgeous cropped seater from Myne.

Colder weather is such a great excuse to play with proportions, textures and layering up – so I love  experimenting with outfits. What do you guys think? Would you ever rock a crop top in the winter?

Let me know in the comments below!

One of my absolute favourite parts about being a blogger is that I get to try so many amazing new products with every season. But of all the new things that come across my desk, I always find a couple that really catch my eye and inspire me, which is why I was so excited to team up with Oxipay and their new client Farmers to bring you, my Autumn Colour Palette.

With MAC’s new Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colours, it’s hard to limit yourself to just one or two, the colour range is so gorgeous and so widespread…. and that’s where Oxipay comes in handy, if you can’t decide, you can choose to opt for five-six shades and divide the payment over four weeks!

With no long application forms, and a quick credit check when you first sign up, Oxipay makes it so easy for you to get what you want, right now!

This Autumn, I have been leaning towards a light and airy approach with my makeup. With more pastels, light taupes, and golds. I want to keep my Autumn beauty colour palette as fresh and light as possible before vamping it up slightly in the winter months.

LIPS

Lips are my favourite. I love trying new shades and playing with new formulas. That’s why I am loving the MAC Retro Lips. The muted tones of Pearl Punk make me extremely happy, but to throw in the deep purple of Crowned just makes everything a touch more vampy. The pink of Metallic Rose is super pretty and the two glosses Electric Rainbow and Pearly girl are the perfect glossy shimmer finish.

Each lip colour featured is wearable for a variety of occasions and suitable for all skin tones. With all of the liquid lips that I’m featuring today, all the colours are truly pigmented and I’m really impressed!

THE SCENT

So technically, a scent is not part of my “colour palette” it is, however, a part of my daily morning routine and I have been religiously wearing the new Armani fragrance, “Si Passione” It’s a luxurious scent that is incredibly romantic, even the gorgeous red packaging convinces you so! Light enough for everyday wear but still incredibly sexy.

LASHES

I have never felt more impressed by a mascara. MAC’s Bold & Bad Lash makes my lashes lifted, elongated and full. I haven’t used anything else since I bought it. This mascara is the perfect compliment to some statement lips.

CHEEKS

To finish, lightly dust a pretty pink blush to your cheeks for a gorgeous flush of colour on your cheeks. theBalm Voyage Palette has the most gorgeous combination of colours to lightly dust over your cheeks.

EYES

theBalm of your hand palette also has the perfect combination of colours to create a beautifully muted smoky eye. I’m all about eyes and enhancing them with soft pastel tones complemented by golds and an accent of white. This palette has everything you need to create gorgeous eyes.

Head over to Farmers to check out all the fabulous makeup and the convenience of OXIPAY
