Welcome to this powerful and intense Full Moon at 27 degrees 39 minutes of Scorpio. Depending on your location it is exact over this weekend of the 18th and 19th May. In Australia it is on Sunday 19th. However, it is felt gradually over a few days as the moon waxes and wanes. The effects can be felt over the next few weeks.
Scorpio is a water sign and is known for its penetrating and intense ways of dealing with life. It is highly transformative and evokes feelings of unease if you don’t like being turned upside down and shaken around a little. As with all full moons, it is about the culmination of what has been building in your life and if you know which house in your astrological chart it’s in, it will be far more meaningful and helpful.
Interestingly it coincides with Mars changing signs – from airy Gemini into watery and protective Cancer. This is a mutual reception as Mars is the traditional sign of Scorpio and the Moon is the ruler of Cancer. Making for even stronger emotions around this time. We have four planets in Taurus – Sun, Mercury, Venus and Uranus. Venus is very close to or ‘conjunct’ Uranus. There is a very earthy vibe here with Taurus being the dominant sign engaged. This will work well for the themes of Scorpio and Cancer. Scorpio demands we dig deep into our souls and hearts and shines light where there is dark to reveal and open up some not so comfortable wounds to enable them to heal. Memories here may be quite painful, but always very transformative.
Venus conjunct Uranus in Taurus is at 3 degrees so this is a little like the urge for freedom vs the need for security. This will be active all week and is in a very sensual, earthy placement – Taurus. Aside from that it’s about survival. My body, my resources, my money, my time etc. What do ‘I’ want to create and sustain. So now this becomes about ‘our’ values, as Uranus is dealing with the personal unconscious. In Taurus it will be reflected in ‘what we own.’ The tangible, and so it’s a time to reflect on what our priorities are right now especially under the illumination of a Scorpio Full Moon, as Scorpio is about ‘the other’ and shared resources. Other people’s money, the shared business, belongings, possessions, intimate connections, banks, inheritance etc. So with Venus conjunct Uranus opposite the Moon in Scorpio, it can manifest in this collaboration or exchange between these energies reminding us that it is not always just about us alone. We will have to look at how this operates in a shared union or connection somehow. Scorpio is about merging with the other.
To add to all of this we still have Saturn and Pluto in a challenging square to Eris (asteroid of discord). This only happens about once every 400 years. We are witnessing this in the way of revolutionary uprising around the world right now. During this Full Moon it will magnify this feeling. We just had our Federal Election right on this FM, and only days before Australia lost one of the most influential Prime Ministers of Australian history – Bob Hawke. This was a literal death, but not only that, this loss served to arouse some deep emotional responses in and around how we are currently dealing with the big issues in our country and the world at large. There are some truly revolutionary waves being made in the hope of moving forward and avoiding catastrophe in the areas of climate change and human rights but also the swing of power seems to be having a very polarising effect on the human race which is playing out ever so negatively. A conservative and at times, draconian approach tussling with the Uranian push for change and individuation, which is creating a huge divide amid the populous.
We still have Pluto & Saturn in Capricorn so this is about the status quo, the structure of society and its transformation. Uranus in Taurus is fixed earth but Uranus wants change and to rebel, radically at times. Uranus is the great awakener. Now in Taurus this will be with regard to long tern security. Depending on which house these energies are operating in your personal astrology chart, will determine exactly how this plays out for you. However eventually when they shift from earth to air (Saturn will move into Aquarius March 2020) there will be another lot of change that will move away from the tangible things that have had to change and be reviewed for the next phase of our evolutionary personal growth. Away from the heaviness and permanence into lighter ideals. Probably we’ve been freed up from some of the attachments that we’d held on to and given so much importance to in favour of lifestyle choices that better suit us. Make these changes conscious ones first as otherwise it will happen externally regardless. These will be the changing trends over the next few years as they are the slower moving outer transpersonal planets that make their effects most felt in the greater collective.
So with this juicy Full Moon in Scorpio, we will have secrets revealed perhaps, previously unaware of. Pluto is active here which highlights power, sexuality, crime, research and deep transformation, so hold on to your hats everyone! Make the most of this time as it will always clear away the cobwebs and make way for the fresh new you, after you’ve shed the old skin in preparation for the best way forward. Take care and enjoy!

LOND – 19/4 12:12pm

Welcome to the Full Moon in Llibra. This is the second full moon in this month of April and also in the sign of Libra. The first one was at the very beginning of the sign at 0 deg and this one is at the last degree of 29, so it is a really powerful and meaningful theme we have going on with this Venus ruled moon. With the Sun now in fiery and hard hitting Aries, there will be a palpable difference in how we feel and express ourselves. Aside from Mercury, planet of communication, going direct after a rather long retrograde phase, we can finally feel our inner engines firing up again, ready to move forward on our projects and best laid plans.
Now that we’ve reached the culmination of this full moon we can celebrate a sense of achievement as we have been under pressure as we approached this illumination. With this Venusian energy however, there can be a sudden change in our emotional world. She is the ruler of our relationships so what is highlighted is what may or may not be working in this arena, both personal and in business. Mercury is up close and personal with Chiron, the asteroid of the wounded healer archetype, making this a very sensitive time that prompts us to have that conversation and to dig deep for some resolution. They do work together well to heal old wounds. Venus all the time reminding us of what really matters, when developing or growing within our partnerships. Hopefully cultivating understanding and discovering the needs and receiving and giving support to enhance the connection.
A positive way to work with this full moon is to forgive the people that have wronged us and realise we are all learning the same lessons fundamentally. Share ways to develop our relationships and make new commitments to each other. Another indicator of the strength of this full moon in Libra is that Venus (ruler of Libra & Taurus) is at 29 degrees, the very end of that sign and is also at her best in Pisces. It is know as being exalted in Pisces so she’s in the most favourable mode of expression here. Also 29 degrees highlights endings and transitions. The moon also stands across the sky from Uranus, the rebel and great awakener, who has also just moved into Taurus – ruled by Venus! There is a very strong theme here with Venus being the main actor.
What was hidden will now be revealed under not only the full moon but particularly with Uranus in this close proximity to the sun in Aries. Usually one would expect to see a huge shift in consciousness, and again this last degree may trigger some of our shadow side. We may have been over doing the congeniality and diplomacy and now it calls for some realisations of what really needs to be said or done. This is how Uranus strikes, with clarity of vision and sometimes without thinking before they speak. Same goes for the Aries energy. Apart from sitting next to Uranus, the sun is also straddled by an asteroid – Eris, the Goddess of discord. So with Uranus and Eris here and making a strong square to Saturn and Pluto in conservative & repressive Capricorn, there is a real stirring of the pot going on, both socially and within us. With these energies it signals to break down and break through. This kind of makes diplomacy difficult.
Along with the tight grouping of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn is the Nodal axis at 21 deg of Cancer & Capricorn, strengthening the tense square to the Sun, Uranus and Eris in Aries. This is a very karmic signature in astrology. Lots of deep lessons to be learnt here. On 24th April Pluto stations and is slowing down to go retrograde along with Saturn on 30th April. These outer and slow moving, but powerful planets will be magnifying the symbolism of this archetype – power and control, boundaries, divisions and separation. All a part of this transformation of how power is operating in society and in our own personal worlds. We can see evidence of this big time all around the world.
I hope we can all see the benefits and opportunities for growth and breakthrough’s in the areas of our lives wherever these energies are operating. This is a very dynamic sky at the moment. The moon’s phases are a great barometer for how life is flowing and manifesting through and around us. This full moon will gently start to wind down, waning, reminding us to join her in this slowing down to reflect upon the previous month and to once again, prepare and nourish the soil of the life we toil, looking forward to the germination of new ideas and methods which assist us in our perpetual personal growth. Enjoy & take care of each other.
Welcome to this astro update, and hopefully you’re feeling the new energy with the Sun having now moved into the pioneering and energetic fire sign of Aries. We’ve had a long, watery and dreamy time in Pisces and with Mercury turning direct now, so this will only enhance this feeling of the gears and cogs turning again. Although we still have lovely Venus only 2 degrees away from Neptune, so both in Pisces, this will lend us some inspiration and vision for which to move forward with our projects that have been under construction for some time. Venus is exalted in Pisces as well & remains there until April 20th. She is very comfortable and loving in this sign.
Currently the moon is slowly waxing after just coming out of the New Moon phase (in Aries) and that was the opportunity to set our intentions and really set the wheels in motion for what we want to see unfold over the next month and beyond. This was extra powerful also as it really represents the beginning of the astrological year, Aries being the first sign of the zodiac.
Mercury, planet of communication will still be in Pisces and very close (conjunct) to Neptune until Arpil 17 so we still have some foggy moments or if used more constructively, intuitively t0 say the very least. Our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive and imaginative under this watery influence. While Venus is in Pisces, borders and boundaries blur so be mindful of allowing yourselves to be victimised or deluded. Mars is in chatty and busy Gemini until May 15th and is considerably less determined and focused. We can scatter our energies around too much under Gemini’s influence, making us less effective.
A big aspect is Saturn and Pluto conjunct right now, along with the Moon’s South Node sitting right between them. This has a truly karmic quality to it and depending on where this is happening in your own chart, it will be grinding away at whatever is no longer working for you. Both planets and the Moon’s Sth Node are in ambitious and serious Capricorn, so be observant of any power struggles and / or fears as this can be a part of this combination of energies. Pluto will trigger some fears, especially around whatever losses we may be experiencing, and Saturn demands the structure holds firm on this deal beyond the change, so lean into it if you can, and trust in this process. This kind of transition and loss, provoking the change that is needed, should be a powerful motivator. Mercury in Pisces makes a positive angle to Saturn in Capricorn so this can lessen some of the tension at least. These two planets don’t move too quickly either so this transit will be around for most of this year. Also they will be going retrograde this month along with Jupiter as well on April 10th until mid August. Saturn goes retrograde on April 30th to September 18th. Pluto goes retrograde on April 24th to October 3rd.
Jupiter’s retrograde passage back into Scorpio over 123 days gives us time to take a deeper look at our belief systems, visions and ways of relating to life.
Saturn Retrograde draws our attention to our long term goals, ambitions and responsibilities, authority figures, how we face obstacles and tests. It’s time to renew commitments and think about how to make our life and work more satisfying.
Pluto retrograde April 24th to October 3rd and will always be how we relate to the changes we are going through. Always for around 5-6 months, we experience and are forced to deal with change – small and big as well as wholly life changing transformations.
So beyond all of this astro activity remember to swim with the current, embrace the fresh inspiring energies of Aries, and don’t get caught up in fear as we feel the ground beneath us rumble with inevitable change, promising to clear out the cobwebs and help us to feel renewed and inspired.
We have a beautiful New Moon in Virgo today. This time, as with all new moons, is a time of renewal and making the changes and paving the way ahead with a clean slate. With the energies of Virgo we are asked to maybe look at our diet, get in touch with where it is we may need to make changes to lead a healthier and live a more wholesome lifestyle. Perhaps it is a reminder to be of service and make a difference to someone’s life if they are suffering and it could be something as simple as ‘paying forward’ on a cup of coffee or making a meal for someone who is not well etc.. Virgo is the ‘purist’ and the messages here are really about taking a humble look at where it is we can tidy up our lives and really implement those self care practices. Get motivated with that new fitness and meal plan that has been on your mind but have perhaps lacked the motivation to get started. This New Moon in Virgo is also speaking harmoniously to Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn. What a powerhouse of support these two planets in these signs give to this moon phase. It will just add the glue to whatever you decide to change and give your focus to as Jupiter expands and gives great luck and positivity and Pluto is the powerful transformer ensuring that what your new mantra or lifestyle changes are, will be set in concrete and implemented with passion and determination. Take advantage of this wonderful time as the New Moon in Virgo aims to improve and pave the way to a much healthier and refined way of lifestyle for us all. All done with humility and a practical style which is one of Virgo’s most admirable traits. Best wishes for this lovely New Moon in Virgo.
SUN – 4 DEGREES LEO, MOON 4 DEGREES AQUARIUS – TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE
Well, a full ‘blood red’ moon and total solar eclipse in Aquarius has just taken place and will continue to beam this energy for at least six months or more. It attracted a lot of attention with it’s spectacular colour and vibrancy. This eclipse is very close to the Sth Node of the Moon which makes it very powerful indeed.
This is a real polarity between the heart and the head. With the Sun in Leo the energy is always heartfelt and fiery in it’s essence. The Moon in the air sign of Aquarius is cooling to the emotions and is about the ‘bigger picture’ so can be a little detached. The mode here is also fixed as both signs are in this mode, so could also bring about some stubborn and staunch attitudes to deal with. On the positive it is good for commitment and finishing off those projects we may have been working on. With an eclipse on the Sth Node of the Moon it is more about releasing and letting go, which is always what the Full Moon is expressing as well. The planet Mars is right on the Sth Node and opposing the Sun during this eclipse as well so really adds to the strength of the feelings around this time. Mars is asking us where our passions lie, and making a hard square to Uranus (planet of change) it can be the spark we need to trigger a change or get the ball rolling in some areas of our lives that we’ve been needing to shake up and get moving on. Of course we must also be aware that Mars can be a bit combative and Uranus loves to disrupt so be mindful of the trouble this can cause in our relationships, as we are ripe for those triggers if we are operating in an unconscious manner.
We are also in Retrograde season as well. Mercury has just begun his retrograde journey through Leo and will stay there until 19th August and will come out of shadow around 2nd September. So remember to double check plans, computer back ups, appointments and all those sorts of things that tend to go awry during this time. Always a great time to revise our plans and catch up with those tasks we’ve been pushing to one side. Communication can be confusing so be very careful with how you say things and don’t rely on text messages etc, as things can be easily misunderstood.
Mars started his Retrograde phase on 26th June and finishes on 12th Augustand comes out of shadow around 8th October. This is a time whereby his normally assertive and feisty energy is turned inward, and the usual benefits of that outward and pioneering attitude may not have the expected and desired results. It can feel very frustrating. He is also sitting right on the Sth Node of the Moon so it magnifies the need to release or let go of outmoded attitudes. So as I’ve already mentioned, when Mars and Uranus are at a square (or challenging) angle to each other, it can set the stage for some very combustable and unexpected outbursts and quite negative expressions of anger and frustration. Uranus is slowing down in preparation for his Retrograde phase also. Starting 7th August and finishing up on 1st Jan 2019. Uranus is in the earthy sign of Taurus currently and will be there until April 2026! It is said to be in its ‘fall’ in the sign of Taurus as the energies are quite mis-matched. Uranus is future orientated and electric in it’s style and Taurus prefers the slow and quiet life and isn’t very comfortable with this electric energy firing up the engine. Unfortunately it may support the already ugly face of right wing politics. Since March 2011, Uranus has been transiting through individualistic Aries, igniting radical activism. During this era, we saw the Arab Spring, Occupy Wall Street, the Black Lives Matter movement—plus Marriage Equality and the Women’s March. In renegade Aries spirit, the people have raised their voices in the name of inclusion and human rights. On the hotheaded flip side, this cycle also stirred a few frightening fringe uprisings, including violent “alt-right” rallies, ISIS and a spike in post-election hate crimes.
The worst manifestations of Uranus in Taurus can be bigotry, stubbornness and warmongering. Adolf Hitler, a Taurus, seized power just as Uranus was ending its last transit of Aries, and retained his dictatorial grip through the 1930s, while Uranus was in Taurus. Mussolini also came into power during this last Uranus in Taurus transit, spreading fascism. As we enter the same cycle 84 years later, extreme right-wing candidates are once again on the rise, spinning propaganda through social media, slanted news outlets, populist rallies and cyber hacking.Hopefully, we will learn from history and not underestimate the “fringe” groups’ ability to organise and gain critical mass.
We also have a positive planetary placement between Uranus and Saturn both sitting at 2 degrees of earth signs so speaking very harmoniously to each other. Uranus in Taurus and Saturn in it’s own sign of Capricorn is a great leveller in amongst all of this. The universe does lend us a hand in these trying times. This is a great opportunity to take what you’re dreaming about and give it legs and make it materialise with some effort. They are very karmic in nature these two planets so work well together.
Uranus gives us the lessons of healthy detachment and Mars talks about our personal power. With both planets operating under a retrograde influence, their lessons will be strong and testing at times. Uranus retrograde favours activities that require bursts of inventive and intuitive energy. It favours psychological counselling connected with freedom urges and disconnected patterns of relating. Mars squaring off here challenges these concepts and will attempt to thwart the positive direction of forward thinking Uranus and brings about some destructive rather than constructive energies. There is duality here so with Mars in Aquarius also opposing the Sun in Leo and sitting right next to the Sth Node, there is a tug-of-war between the heart and the head, which may override our integrated awareness. This is about clearing, completion and releasing. Being around nature and going within to check on how you may be reacting to the events around you will be very helpful and healing. Be aware of what is triggering you during this time. It will be very illuminating.
As with all full moons and particularly with this most powerful eclipse, grow in awareness, move forward with fresh insights that help you blossom and become the revised and better version of yourself. Release the old outmoded and often unhealthy habits and step up to the challenges, be in your own power and remember the self care practices to help you enjoy this journey.
