I figured I would try to get a few more weddings blogged before I get plowed under shooting for 2019. Here is Amy and Brent’s beautiful day. The weather was perfect and everything ran without a hitch.
Brent and Amy were married at the Hearthstone Inn in Sydney. Everybody then travelled to Louisbourg for gorgeous photos at the lighthouse. You couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop. Then back into Sydney to party the night away.
Congratulations guys. You were a dream couple to work with.
I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter couple to photograph. Dwayne & Laura Jayne smiled throughout the entire day with a laid back style that you wish for with every wedding. The whole wedding party was gorgeous but LauraJayne really stood out. She looked like a dream. Thank you guys for including me on your special day.
Kristen & Ian are one of those couples that every wedding photographer dreams of photographing, especially on their wedding day. I met them the previous year while shooting their engagement session and I knew then, this one was going to be magical. The way they looked at each other and laughed together made for breathtaking photos. I am so in love with this gallery and it was their ease with one another that made the photos so special.
Jordan & Amanda were married on a beautiful day in July. In fact, I went to school with Amanda’s mother. I admit, it makes me feel a bit old photographing children of people I went to school with. But, it also let’s me see what amazing adults my friends have raised.
Amanda got ready at the Hampton Inn in Membertou while Jordon dressed at his best man’s house. The ceremony took place at Heritage Park in Membertou and reception at the Trade and Convention Centre on the same grounds. In between, formal photos were taken at the beautiful Peter’s Field.
When Samantha contacted me saying she was from out of town and wanted to do an engagement session where Ryan had proposed to her, I was really excited. I love meeting people from out of province and showing them what an amazing island we live on. But, when she said the photos were going to be on the Skyline Trail I panicked a bit. My sister told me what a hard trail it was when she did it years ago. I thought to myself, “how in the heck am I going to be able to hike this hard trail with my camera gear and not look like a sweaty mess”. I gathered my strength , said yes and I’m so glad I did. What a gorgeous place! I am missing out on so many beautiful places because I am too insecure to think I can actually make it. I made it that day and I wasn’t a hot sweaty mess. In fact, the trail wasn’t that hard. It was just magnificent. I need to get out of my comfort zone more often and challenge myself. There’s so much to see and so little time.
Sometimes you meet a couple who you have an instant connection with and know that their wedding day is going to be something special. That’s exactly how I felt about Michelle and Steve when I photographed their engagement session. Not only were we taking pictures to celebrate the announcement of them getting married, but also the big reveal that a baby would soon be on the way. I am so lucky to be a part of these life moments. My couples aren’t just my clients, the feel like family to me.
So fast forward to July when it’s time for Michelle and Steve’s wedding. Now little Hayden is here and she gets to share this amazing day with her mom and dad. She sparkles as much as her mom does in photos. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding to shoot. It was just as special as I thought it was going to be.
Big shout outs to the vendors for making this day possible:
What a beautiful spot to kick off wedding season, the Keltic Lodge in Ingonish. Kurt and Andrea’s day couldn’t have been more beautiful. Surrounded by the ocean and majestic mountains, this couple said “i do” with their most cherished loved one’s around them. I wish them all the best and many years of happiness
Grad sessions have to be one of my favourite things to shoot next to weddings. All of the kids I photograph are stunning both inside and out. Take a look at Amanda who is a Sydney Academy grad for 2018. Not only is she stunning but what an amazing personality this young lady has. Congratulations Amanda. I know the future is so bright for you.
