Here’s a wee Baby Dinosaur amigurumi pattern for all the dino fans out there. We go back to prehistoric times when dinosaurs ruled the earth during the Mesozoic Era! But here they are first as small and adorable babies before they get all mighty, big, and ferocious!

I didn’t particularly model this Baby Crochet Dinosaur Amigurumi after any specific dinosaur but I would say it’s most similar to a baby T-Rex amigurumi since its features also include short and stubbby arms. And of course a big wide open mouth where all the sharp teeth can grow!

You can also crochet the dinosaurs with or without a belly patch. They look cute either way!

This free Dinosaur crochet pattern is the first in my series of patterns for Open Mouth Amigurumi. I plan to use this expressive technique to create all sorts of cute open mouthed creatures, so be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss a single one!

I’m excited to share with you guys how to crochet an Open Mouth Amigurumi! If you’ve been following me for some time, you may have seen me use this technique on some of my amigurumi designs and crochet patterns. I love how it makes the amigurumi look so happy with a big fat smile on its face.

On the flip side, you can also make it look more menacing and like it’s going to eat you by adding teeth as well! Ok, well, maybe he doesn’t look so menacing and still looks pretty cute, but it’s all about how you make the face!

Here are some other amigurumis I’ve utilized the technique on, such as this charming Chameleon

This very happy Sackboy

And all these cute lil Bulbasaurs

The basic premise of the Open Mouth Amigurumi is you first create a small circle for the mouth. Fold it in half and single crochet across the straight line. This creates the top portion and bottom portion of the mouth. Once you make the head, you can attach the mouth with the top portion first, and then later the bottom portion.

It sounds complicated in writing, but honestly once you follow my pattern and tutorial below, you’ll be able to easily make these Open Mouth Amigurumis in no time at all.

I can’t wait for you guys to add this wonderful technique to your ami-making skills and repertoire. I’m also very curious what kind of projects you guys might end up creating using this pattern base and would definitely love to see! Be sure to tag me on my Instagram or Facebook.

I’ll be coming out with some new patterns in the near future which will use this very Open Mouth Amigurumi Base Pattern to create more cute crochet creatures, so be sure to subscribe to my blog to get all my pattern updates!

So I’ve had the occasion to make several rainbow unicorn amigurumis so far. To tell you the story of how this particular rainbow unicorn amigurumi came about, I’ll have to take you back to March of this year when I attended the Pinners Conference and Expo with a friend of mine. As we walked down the exhibit hall, one booth in particular caught my eye. It was a splash of color with cute animal bonnets and the most beautiful moccasins for little ones. It jumped out at me because I could tell all the care, attention, and love of craft that had been devoted into creating these special designs.

Speaking with the talented ladies there, Leslly of Gems4Adira and Monica of Tiny Heir Moccs, I discovered we had a lot in common and that we all shared the thrill of being a craftrepreneur. We got along so well that we agreed we should do a collaboration. The project was going to revolve around Rainbow Unicorns. Great, I’m onboard! I love rainbows, I love unicorns. Combine them together, you get twice the magic!

Gems4Adira would make the Rainbow Unicorn bonnet, Tiny Heir Moccs would make the unicorn moccasins, Jennifer of NyxandGray who’s a whiz with sewing and prints would make the rainbow dress, and I would create the unicorn amigurumi.

I already had an inkling which crochet design of mine would work really well for this collaboration. It would be my L’il Unicorn Crochet Pattern but made with more festive rainbow unicorn colors. I decided to go with softer pastel hues as I thought it would complement and blend well with the other crafts.

However, the more colors you have in an amigurumi, the harder it gets to color coordinate. I went back and forth between what yarn colors to choose, but eventually settled with these colors: Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Aruba Sea, Petal Pink, Lemon, Light Blue, White, and Big Twist Yarns Premium in the color Salmon.

In the end, I was quite pleased with how the colors worked together and grew quite attached to this unicorn amigurumi. So here’s my pastel unicorn!

If you would like to crochet your very own lil magical unicorn amigurumi for yourself or a loved one, you can find the pattern in my Ravelry shop or Etsy.

Here’s another version of the unicorn amigurumi but in the more traditional rainbow colors. This one’s mane has 7 different colors on it! Again, I used my Lil Unicorn pattern but added extra colors in the mane and tail.

Here’s a unicorn amigurumi so fluffy, so pink, and so frothy, it’ll remind you of cotton candy! This free crochet unicorn amigurumi pattern is sure to be the most squeezable, lovable, magical creature!

To sum up in the iconic words of a little girl, “It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!”

Everytime I create this fluffy unicorn to gift to a special child or person, I always get the greatest reaction! One time I created it for a friend’s niece for her birthday and she immediately hugged and rocked with it and would not let go!

And just this past weekend, I also crocheted this unicorn amigurumi for a friend’s daughter who was turning 1 years old. Upon presenting the doll, there were quite a few oohs and aahs! It was quite funny how the unicorn was almost the same size as the baby girl, but I really do hope they will become the best of pals!

The features of this unicorn amigurumi include a fat body with an elongated head. The mane and tail is quite furry as I used eyelash yarn for it. He has eyes that pop that adds humor to his expression, and he is made in the very bright and cheerful colors of pink, white, and yellow. Of course, you can add your own twist and use whatever colors are your favorite!

Here, you can see the unicorn with my cat, Callie, for size reference. As you can see, he’s a pretty fluffy size!

And we can’t leave out Hobbes, our orange tabby cat. Here she is photobombing during a photo session. She would also like to get in on the unicorn action!

Anyways I hope you’ll enjoy this pattern and it will make you feel fluffy and frothy like a magical unicorn. Happy Crocheting!

Here’s a cute and free crochet lion amigurumi pattern that I’d like to share with you guys. It’s one of my more larger sized amigurumi, which I always find fun to make because they’re the “pawfect” size for squeezing and cuddling. Not too big, which makes crocheting seem a bit overwhelming, and also not too small, in which case it’s a bit difficult to give a good hug.

This is a crochet lion amigurumi pattern that was in part inspired by the character Kon from the anime Bleach. I’ve actually made many different versions, including a chibi/small size, and even a GIANT sized version! This free pattern is the MEDIUM SIZE version.

Here is my chibi version of Kon amigurumi along with Happy!

And this is my Giant Version! If you’d like to crochet this huge version, you can find the pattern here.

For the MEDIUM SIZE Crochet Lion, the doll sits at about 14 inches high. And, if you measure from mane to toe, my finished amigurumi lion was approximately 18 inches in length. His features include a spiky mane, a cute snout, long limbs with claws, and also a button for its belly. He’s created in a nice golden color to evoke the tawny color of lions.

Hope you guys have fun creating your Crochet Lion and if you do, be sure to share your projects with me and tag me on Instagram and Facebook. I’d love to see!

Here’s a chibi Eevee amigurumi so foxy and cute! You guys have been asking me for this Pokemon crochet pattern so I finally got a chance to write it up. What’s unique about the design of Eevee Amigurumi is that she has the ability to both sit or stand! She can sit on her behind or stand on all fours. It makes for some fun posing for pictures. And of course you can also crochet a Pokeball Pod for her as well.

She’s created from a warm brown acrylic worsted weight yarn and fluffy white yarn. Her features include her pointy ears, a fluffy mane and tail.

One day I think it’d be nice to try and crochet the whole crew of Eevolution, but for now I hope you guys enjoy this cute Eevee! I have both the written pattern and the video tutorial below.

It’s part of my ongoing Gotta crochet ’em all! Pokemon amigurumi series. Be sure to catch them all!

Hey guys, thought I’d start off with the year with my latest free amigurumi crochet pattern, the one and only Peter Pan! It’s only fitting as we grow a year older to turn to the fantasy of Peter Pan, the evergreen boy, the Boy Who Never Grew Up.  One of the best and memorable lines to ever begin a book is in J.M. Barrie’s book Peter and Wendy: “All children, except one, grow up.”

And I must confess, as an amigurumi maker and someone who still loves dolls and plushes, I feel a kinship to Peter Pan, as in many ways I never grew up also.  But I think it’s a good thing.  Years may come and go but well, a love of something, wonder, curiosity and imagination always keeps the heart young!

So I hope you guys will enjoy this Peter Pan amigurumi.  I tried to capture the whimsy of this fairy boy. This Peter Pan crochet pattern design details include a jaunty cap that lies atop his head, leaf details for his clothing, fairy ears, and a mop of ginger hair.  He’s fun and fast to crochet and you’ll be sure to have an adventurous time in Neverland!

One of my favorite scenes from the book is when he tries to get his shadow to stick back onto him.

So sprinkle on some fairy dust, second star to the right and straight on ’til Morning, let’s fly off to Neverland!  I hope to share a lot more patterns this year, so be sure to subscribe, so you don’t miss them!

You’ll want to eat this Bao right up! But its face is so cute, you just might regret it, the instant you do. This precious little Bao amigurumi dumpling has a huge head stuffed with the most delicious stuffing. Use this free tasty Bao crochet pattern to cook up some fresh steamed buns for yourself!

I first created this Bao amigurumi because a friend of mine requested a special gift for a friend. Upon finishing this chibi bao, I knew it would need a bamboo steamer basket to rest in. I didn’t have any at home, but luckily there was a Daiso nearby where I was able to pick several up for pretty cheap.

Originally I wanted to create the amigurumi as a stand alone that you could freely play with. It would be like a dim sum plate where you can take Bao in and out of the basket as you please, along with the lettuce. But upon looking at the construction of the bamboo basket, I realized that it could also function as a round shadow box frame and would work great as a home decor art piece. You could hang it or stand it up. All I had to do was attach the lettuce and bao to the basket itself so that the two items would not fall out of the basket. And there you have it, instant delicious decor to delight one’s palate!

So I hope you’ll enjoy this free crochet pattern. I’ve also created a video amigurumi tutorial for this Bao that takes you step by step through the entire making of Bao!

Happy crocheting!

If you’re a catlover, CatCon is definitely the place to be! This was my second year at CatCon as an exhibitor and each time I have so much fun seeing all the awesome cat fashion as well as all the cool cat items for your cat and for yourself.

It was held for 2 days from Aug 4-5th at the Pasadena Convention Center. I heard that on the first day itself, CatCon was able to facilitate 71 adoptions of kitties! Go CatCon! The days flew fast and it was a whirl of activity!

Here are some pictures of my table:

CAT FASHION

Everyone was of course dressed up in the latest feline fashion! Here’s a few of my favs:

This person right here actually won first place in the fashion contest! Looks so cute with my Jiji!

She had such a cute take on Garfield, complete with Pooky!

I also met another needle arts person. She knitted her complete outfit as well as crocheted her bag!

Love these UniCats!

This was a mother and daughter duo who sewed their own cat fashion clothes.

I was telling the girl “You are Pajama Cats!” And she was “No, it’s I’m the Cat’s Pajamas!”

I was about to tell this guy he was at the wrong con, but take a closer look at what makes up his shirt, hmmm…. Quite clever!

These people brought their cats with them in stick form! They owned 7 cats altogether.

And this lady, was smart in the heat of California lately to create a balloon cat mask for herself! It’s lightweight and comfy!

Of course, Catcon isn’t complete without a furry!

EXHIBITORS

There were so many lovely exhibitors! I was a bit busy so I didn’t get a chance to get to visit everyone, but I did manage to do some shopping myself.

I got a kick out of this Taco Cat Bed from ShopMeoow and had to get it for my Cat, Callie!

Here she is enjoying it. I made it into a Tostada here.

Also got this cute mouse toy from Bruce and Fox Designs. It was filled with Catnip and Silver Vine, which I hear is actually more potent than catnip!

Got this Rilakumma Gray Tabby for my sis! I actually nabbed the last one in stock, woohoo!

Adorable Cat Tees by Tasty Peach Studios. I got the Calico King because it reminded me of Callie, diva attitude and all.

Look at this fun rosette award for I got for myself that says Cat Person from Magic Circle.

I got some decor for my backyard with this cat plant holder by Marcy Very Much. I haven’t decided yet what kind of plant to put in it yet though although I know it’ll be some kind of succulent!

My friend also got this whimsical ceramic cat insense holder by Hungry Munchy

Some other fun Cat Crafts include these Faux Taxidermy by Misfit Menagerie:

And these awesome crystal quartz cat accessories by LouLeeAndMee

There was tons to see and do. It was so lovely being surrounded by the catloving community. I couldn’t think of a better way to have spent the weekend! Thanks to everyone who came by my table! Just seeing all the cat fashion and all the creative artists out there was so much fun and inspiring. Hope to see you all again next year!
