I know we are still a couple weeks away from New Year’s Eve, but I’ve been thinking about what I can do to make NYE really special and fun for Molly (and Riley of course) this year. It will be the first year that she really understands that we are celebrating a new year! Not only that, but it is the first New Year’s in our new home! I can’t believe it’s already almost been a year since we moved here! We can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for us!

So to celebrate all that is to come in 2019,  I thought I would share a few ways to celebrate NYE with your kiddos! It’s funny because NYE used to be all about a midnight kiss and champagne toast and now as a mom of 2, it’s all about wet toddler kisses and going to bed well before the clock strikes midnight. Ha! Everything I’m sharing is  pretty easy to do and the items needed to pull them off are all affordable on eBay! I have found so many great things on eBay recently – it’s awesome! Plus there are over 1.1 billion (yes, BILLION) listings on eBay with over 80% being brand new items so you are bound to find what you need all in one place. I’m all for anything that makes me life easier. Their daily deals page is pretty awesome for finding great deals FYI.

Ok, onto the “party” planning!

Party in a Box!

Molly loves all things at sparkle. And really she loves anything that will make a mess. Ha! Don’t all kids! So bring on the NYE confetti! But confetti doesn’t have to be messy. I know when I think of confetti, the first thing that comes to mind is that there tends to be a ton of tiny pieces to clean up around the house – and those little guys can be tricky to sweep up! But here is a way to keep the mess under control, and still bring all the fun! Get a cardboard box, or even a plastic tub or play pool, and fill it with shimmery streamers and tinsel! The kids can jump around in there, shower it on their heads, throw it in the air, and leave all the mess in one place! Not to mention that it is so affordable and so much fun! You can also add in some festive photo props, like the cute “tux” pictured on Riley below. An actual baby tux would be darling as well. This one is under $10.

Photo Booth Fun!

Speaking of photo booth props, a photo booth is something so easy to set up and will leave you with photo memories you’ll have forever! I actually bought this photo booth background for under $5! It’s suuuuuper affordable and all you do is tape the streamers up on your wall, set up your iPhone on a timer, and use some fun props to take cute photos of your kiddos! Molly loves to use the mustache and glasses photobooth prop (in the above picture) and walk around our house calling herself the pizza man. It’s adorable!

Celebrate with Another Country!

Have you been thinking about getting a sitter on New Year’s Eve, but still want to celebrate with your kids? Or even just want to be able to celebrate with them and get to bed a decent hour? Someone recently told me about the idea of ringing in the new year with a different time zone and country! They celebrated with Paris, France! How fun would it be to celebrate the new year at 2 PM and still be able to put the kids down for nap and bedtime!? Ha! I’m thinking about having a French New Year’s party this year for the kiddos! I am currently hunting down the cutest berets for kids and some other French inspired decor! Here are some that I have found so far : Eiffel towers decorations for $10, little french flag toothpicks for appetizers, faux mustaches (Molly is going to LOVE these) and french street signs to decorate with. It’s all super affordable! I also think that it would be so yummy to serve crêpes! Such a delicious treat from France – we love them in our house! This crêpe mix is the exact one I use and it’s sooooo yummy! I lived off these when I was pregnant. I don’t know about you, but this idea is sounding better to me by the minute! It would be so amazing to be able to go to sleep at our normal time. – which is around 8:30/9pm Ha! Oh and don’t forget berets for mom and dad too!

Add Some Sparkle!

Whether you stay in or go out on New Year’s Eve it’s always fun to dress up with a little sequins! But here’s the thing, when do you wear sequins other than the holidays or New Year’s Eve? Pretty much never! Unless you’re in a dance recital or something. Or going to 80s themed party. So I was looking for something fun and sparkly that I could wear while staying in with the kiddos on New Year’s Eve and I found this sequin top for only $15 and it’s absolutely perfect! Because of the super affordable price, I was skeptical on with the quality would be like. But I I am so pleased to say that I’m super impressed with the quality and it was worth every penny of the $15 I spent on it! And you could wear it with leggings like I am in the photo below for a night in with your kiddos! Or you could pair it with skinny jeans and sparkly flats for a more casual night out, or black high-waisted pants with heels for a dressier night out! It’s super versatile!

Turn on your JavaScript to view content

And it’s great for any age. Obviously I love it and I’m in my 30s. Any girl in their 20s could rocket! And my mother-in-law even wore the top the other day when she went out to a dinner where everybody was instructed to wear black and gold. How cuuuuuute does she look in it in the picture below! Anyway, had to share because I think this top is absolutely fabulous! And if you order it today you can get it in time for NYE!  I also really like this dress as an option for NYE. I feel like it would look really cute with black tights!

Well there you have it! A few super simple and fun way to celebrate NYE with you kiddos! Let me know what ideas you guys have in the comments below! Or if  you have a great crepe stuffing ideas! I usually do eggs, avocado, spinach and pesto or strawberry and nutella Happy early New Year luvs!!!

I can’t believe that Christmas morning is almost here! I’ve never, in my entire life, been this excited for Christmas. We’ve been having so much fun doing Elf on the Shelf with Molly all December long. We kept it pretty simple this year (it being our first year doing it) and just moved the elf from one place to the next. No fancy or elaborate set ups. But Molly is still sooo excited every morning to wake up and search for her elf Cocoa. The bummer is that Kevin leaves for work well before Molly wakes up so he doesn’t get a chance to see her excitement every morning like I do. So we found a way to continue the elf surprises and excitement through the day so Kevin can be a part of it too. It’s been so special for our family that I wanted to share it with you guys!

So what we do is every afternoon when Molly wakes up from her nap, our elf Cocoa has a surprise for her in the advent calendar (and yes Molly named her that, but really it was ‘Coco’ after the movie… we added the ‘a’ at the end). Her advent calendar is a box with little wooden drawers that we’re able to put different things in every day – from notes to little candies to little toys. Some days she’ll get a little tiny Moana figure, other days she’ll get a piece of chocolate, but most days she gets a note with either an experience written on it or a gift! I wanted to share some of the things we’ve given her so far and the things that will be in a future day’s drawer. I hoping it will bring joy to other families in which a mommy or daddy has to leave extra early in the morning.

Experiences

I didn’t want every note to be a gift hiding somewhere. I really wanted some things to be an experience. For example, we had a trip planned to Universal Studios with Kevin’s parents earlier this week.  Since it was already planned and happening, we decided to make it one of the notes in her drawer that day. Boy was she excited when she opened that one up. But it could also be a note saying you’re going to pick out your Christmas tree or go sledding! Anything that the kiddos would find fun. Things you are probably already planning! One day we baked cupcakes just like Pinkalicious does! And yes, they were pink! And another day Molly got to stay up 30 minutes later and read story after story with mommy, daddy and Riley in mommy and daddy’s bed!

And that experience actually came with a gift for Riley! I didn’t know how Molly was going to react us only having a gift for Riley, but she actually did quite well! I feel like it was a good lesson for her to learn that she doesn’t always get gifts when her brother does. And I think it helped that we got him his own version of Wonderbly’s “Lost My Name” book. She has the exact same book but with her name and has had it since she was a baby. So we thought it be cute to get Riley one of his own! Plus she just loves this book! It’s about a little girl who lost her name and goes on a magical journey to find it! Along the way she discovers letters that end up spelling out Molly! It’s such a cute personalized book and she gets a kick out of her name being in it. If you guys saw my Instagram post this morning then you saw her reading it to herself. I really think a book like this that teaches her letters is a huge reason she is so smart! She could identify that her name started with the letter M shortly after she turned one! Wonderbly has a few other personalized books that we also got for Molly! We’ve read “Molly The Elf Who Saves Christmas” pretty much every day this month. And we got her the “Where Are You Molly” book to put under the tree for Christmas. In my mind she can never have too many books! And as any of you know who watch my Instagram stories, Molly loves to read more than anything and I think having books with her name in it is what got her excited about reading in the first place! And if you guys get any of these books, use the discount code WONDER15 for 15% off! And I just read on their site that if you order by Friday you can get it by Christmas with regular shipping. If you order by the 17th you can get it expedited shipping by Christmas.

Treats

We really try to limit how much candy we give Molly so we have to get creative with this. Some of the treats in her calendar will be things like yogurt raisins. She’s absolutely obsessed with yogurt raisins! I’ve also convinced her that her daily multivitamin is a candy. Ha! I’m not even kidding, I only give it to her if she does something good for the day during the rest of the months of the year. And during December, now that we’re doing the advent calendar, sometimes I’ll put her vitamin in one of the drawers as her treat for the day. Thank goodness for yummy chewable vitamins! And every now and then we’ll put a small piece of chocolate in one of the drawers. We’ve only given her chocolate once so far and we’re halfway through the month already.

Toys

Of course we do small toys too. So far she’s gotten a little matchbox car as one of her toys. It didn’t actually fit in the drawer so we had the drawer filled with a note that said “ I have a surprise that I brought back from the North Pole for you!” And then we told Molly to go find where Cocoa the elf was sitting in our house and sure enough a little matchbox car popped up next to her. Kevin had to quickly run it over there while I took Molly to the advent calendar. But she thought it was pure magic! We also got her these little Moana figurines that she absolutely loves and will either put one in the drawer if it fits, or do something similar that we did with the matchbox car. The figurines that we don’t use in the advent calendar are going to go in her stocking on Christmas morning. And the book “Molly The Elf Who Saves Christmas” was given to her on December 2nd so we could read it all month long.

Give Back

This weekend we plan on one of the notes from Cocoa to say something about Molly needing to fill a box with toys she can give to other little boys and girl for Christmas to help make room for all the gifts Santa is bringing her since she’s been such a good girl all month. Really she has. This Elf and advent calendar thing TOTALLY works to get her to behave better. I’m honestly super sad that we have to say goodbye to it after Christmas. I need to figure out other ways to continue it (without all the surprises/gifts obviously). Any ideas? Tell me in the comments below! I’m also just hoping Molly feels good about being so good and chooses to stay that way We shall see!

Anyway, her reward for giving away all the toys will also be that she gets to color on/in the box with washable markers to make it extra special for the boys and girls. I got this idea from some of you guys actually! A few month ago I was asking for good activities for toddlers and so many of you mentioned putting your toddler in a box with some washable markers and letting her go to town. Ha! Well I did this with Molly and she looooved it! So I know she’ll love the idea of coloring on the box to decorate it for the other boys and girls she is giving her toys to.

Something They Need Before Christmas

Something practical is always a good gift idea in my opinion! And look, I get that we don’t want to go over the top with gifts before Christmas morning, but some things Molly needs before Christmas morning. For example, we are going to a kid’s holiday party soon and she needs a cute dress. I have a couple that she’s already worn that could totally work but I thought it could be fun for Cocoa to bring her a dress one day to wear to the party. So the day of the party, when she wakes up from her nap, Cocoa’s gonna have a brand new dress that she brought from Santa for Molly to wear! And you don’t have to spend a lot. A few of the options I’m considering are below- they are all under $20 and so stinking cute!

Other ideas

I think a really cute idea that we’re going to try to do is put a note in saying Cocoa wants Molly to write and perform a song for her. How cute would it be if that note came with a little musical instrument. We already got Molly this mini guitar that I absolutely love that I think would be so cute for this! So maybe I’ll just have the guitar by Coco or by the advent calendar when she opens the note. Or maybe we can get her a harmonica. One of our friends came over the other day and her son had a little toy harmonica and Molly absolutely loved it! So we’ve been wanting to get her one! This might be the perfect opportunity to do it and get a cute video of her singing a song to Santa and her elf Cocoa! I also think this type of thing inspire creativity!

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with all of you guys because it’s made this December extra special for our family. I think our little system works really well for us and think it could work really well for other families too! Let me know if you guys have any idea for me fore things we could put in the advent calendar!

I’ve talk to you guys a lot about pumping both on my blog and on my social media. It’s something I’m very open about because it’s a huge part of my life that has had high highs and some low lows. Breastfeeding is a challenge plain and simple. I’ve never met a mother who said breastfeeding was a breeze. Whether you have low supply issues, pain while breastfeeding, a baby won’t latch or 1 million other things that could happen – it’s just not easy. It takes a lot of work and a lot of time. So much time. And part of all the time will be devoted to pumping.

In my opinion, one of the most important things a mother needs to be able to successfully give their baby breastmilk over a long period of time, is a great breast pump. Recently when I talked about pumping on my blog, I was super sad to find that there are so many women out there that simply can’t afford a good pump. It broke my heart! I read hundreds of comments from all of you saying how badly you wanted a good pump and couldn’t afford it. So I started researching what I could do to help. Plus baby’s are expensive so any help we can get it a huge win right? Use that extra cash you saved to buy some Holiday gifts for your loved ones. Or some super cute outfits to put your sweet babe in! Nothing makes my heart happier than seeing a little baby dressed up like a snowman or Santa! Riley Santa pics coming soon btw

So while I was reaching different ways to get a quality breast pump, as if some sort of divine intervention, Aeroflow reached out to me about their website. Have you guys ever heard of it? It’s a kick butt website that sells a number of breast pumps and other breast-feeding products that anyone can buy, but more specifically it helps you figure out if you’re able to get the pump for FREE through your insurance. I had heard before that you could get a breast pump through insurance but I always thought it would be super complicated. So I honestly didn’t even look into it. But once Aeroflow reached out to me, I knew I needed to look into it for you guys to see if it was legit. Sure enough, I just entered my insurance information and was quickly contacted via phone and email by a breast-pump specialist who handled everything for me from contacting my doctor to verifying my benefits with my insurance provider. I could not believe how easy it was! Here I was thinking I was gonna call my insurance and wait on hold for who knows how long and then I figured I’d get some runaround answer about some paperwork I need to fill out and mail in. But none of that happened! It was honestly the easiest thing ever! I barely did a thing.

And many people qualify for a free pump through their insurance and don’t realize it. Crazy right? And the thing that’s even better about Aeroflow, if you fill out the qualifying form and still aren’t covered by your insurance, you’ll be able to purchase the pump on the website with a discount they give you! I think that’s pretty awesome! Talk about a company going above and beyond.

The most fun part about all of this was finding out I was going to going to be able to get a pump for FREE. But the second most fun part was picking out what pump I wanted! I went with the Lansinoh Smartpump. This thing is pretty freaking awesome! You connect to an app on your phone and it tracks and monitors your pumping schedule and sessions so you can save it to send to your doctor or lactation consultant and even print it out! During your sessions it tells you EXACTLY how much breastmilk you are pumping so you can track over time so see how your supply changes. It also has three different pumping styles so you can find one that’s comfortable for you and 8 (YES EIGHT!) levels of suction. I also love that it tracks your baby’s growth and you’re even able to log their diaper changes so you could have all the information you need when visiting the pediatrician should they have any concerns about your little one. I remember going to the doctor once when Molly was little and the doctor asking me how many poopy diapers she had in the last few days. I had no idea! So it’s super important to log those things.

As a bonus there are only a few parts that you have to clean after each pumping session. And for someone like me, who pumps at least 5 if not 6 times a day (I exclusively pump and bottle feed except for the first feed of the day and at night), the fewer pieces I have to wash the better!

And I was also sold because by getting the pump, I got $10 off this super cute jujube breast pump bag (But you can get $10 off a variety of pump bags on their website so check them all out for sure!) It’s super important to have a good breast pump bag when you’re a working mom. Because you’re always going to have your breast pump with you when on the go. I’ll bring mine to work at Home & Family every single time I’m on set.

I want to end this by saying that I know breastfeeding isn’t for everyone. There are so many reasons why a mother either can’t breastfeed or chooses not to. But I also know that there are so many mothers out there that wish that they could breastfeed their baby longer and just don’t have the resources to do so. I hope with all my heart that this blog post gives some mamas out there the information they need to get a good quality pump for themselves and their baby for FREE! Sending so much love to all my fellow mamas out there!

I’m not sure what is more daring while wearing an all white jumpsuit – holding a baby who loves to spit up or drinking a glass of red wine. Either way, I’ve been living dangerously by doing both! Ha!

I wanted to share this look with you guys because I think it’s so classic and pretty to wear to a hliday party or NYE but it’s also a great outfit to show off my jewelry line with Emerald Duv. The star necklace I am wearing was inspired by Molly. Really! I asked her what she wanted me to make and she said stars! I loved the idea so I decided on this longer star necklace for me and a shorter kids version for her! SO cute right?!? And the ball and chain necklace I layered with it I literally wear every single day. It’s the perfect layering necklace. I layered it with my love necklace on the daily. I also pair it with my tribe necklace a lot. I wear this necklace as a best friend necklace with my girls. It completely sold out when we launched! SO glad you guys love it too! But it is available for pre-order now! It will ship on Dec 18th. So if you get express shipping you can get in time for your bestie this Christmas!

It’s in limited quantity though so grab one now if you love it too. And I wanted t share my jumpsuit because it’s under $100 and comes in black and red too. The red jumpsuit would be perfect for a holiday party!

I’m wearing a matching sweetheart ring and bracelet. Both classic pieces that you can wear again and again. I also rocking my kiss me earrings and gold ear cuff that I wear every single day. No really. Watch my insta stories and I am always wearing them. They are just stunning pieces and great for every day wear. Plus I wear my hair up all the time so I can always show them off. Eeeeeeppp! I just LOVE our kitchen holiday decorations this year!!!

No really, I could spend all day long in my kitchen right now. Not that I didn’t already before. Our kitchen and family room is one big open space so we’re usually in here all the time anyway, but now it’s just extra special being in this room! And I’m proud to say that absolutely all of our holiday decorations are from Walmart, so if you like what I did, you can easily shop for these things online or even pick some up in the store! Plus Walmart’s prices are in many peoples budget and that makes me really happy! And if you are having trouble finding decor that fits your home atheistic, you can shop by style to help you out! I also looked in their “farmhouse style” section because I love all things farmhouse

OK, let’s talk about my kitchen holiday decor! Let me start with the wreaths on our kitchen counter stools. This is my absolute favorite detail in the entire kitchen so I have to talk about it first! Basically, I got these beautiful and simple 12 inch wreaths and attached them to each one of our chairs. If you’re wondering how I did it you’re gonna laugh when I tell you! I attached them using twist ties that you get in the box with your garbage bags. You know those little ties that you wrap around the top and twist to close it off. I basically twisted three of them together to create one long twist tie. The back of our chairs have little tiny holes in them so I put the twist tie around the wreath and through the chair and secured it on the other side. Plus the twist ties I used are actually a tan color and they blend in perfectly with the back of the chair so you can’t even see them when you’re looking at the front of the chair. I wish I had a picture to show you guys. I know what I’ll do! I’ll do some stories on Instagram story so you can see exactly what I’m talking about! So go check out my Instagram stories today if you want to see exactly what I did! Walmart doesn’t have these exact stools but I found THESE STOOLS that are so farmhouse and would be absolutely perfect to use to achieve this look. I love these counter stools so much that I kinda want to replace mine! Maybe a Christmas gift to myself

1. SMALL WREATHS | 2. BURLAP RIBBON | 3. GARLAND | 4. 3FT TREE | 5. SILVER GLASS TREES | 6. CHRISTMAS TREE SIGN

And then I used some beautiful wire burlap ribbon to tie these bows and secure them with a piece of command strip tape. I love using wired ribbon for things like this because the ribbon stays exactly how you place it. I also used wired burlap ribbon when I hung the wreath in our formal living room as you can see in this blog post. Anyway, I just absolutely love the wreaths on the back of the chairs in the kitchen. You could also do them on the backs of your chairs in your dining room or your breakfast table. It’s just such a special and beautiful detail that I think people really appreciate! Plus the wreaths aren’t overly Holiday. So they could totally be decorated with some flowers in the spring so you can keep them up all year. I might have to do that because I won’t be able to take them down once Christmas is over.

Next, let’s talk about the garland in my kitchen. This garland is so affordable at only $15 and I only needed to use two of them to complete my entire kitchen look! I basically cut both pieces in half since they were 9 feet each, and then used three of those four pieces to put on the light fixtures hanging in the kitchen, and then one of the pieces above the vent over our stove.

If you watch my Instagram stories frequently you might remember a couple weeks ago I didn’t Instagram story asking you guys if you thought I should run the garland up the light pendants or across the light pendants and I did a poll to see what you guys thought would look best! And the vast majority of you said that I should run the garland UP the pendant. So that’s exactly what I did!  And I think it looks so beautiful! Thank you guys so much for giving me that suggestion because it totally paid off! I also really love this garland because it is a wire garland. Meaning that however you bend it, it stays in that exact shape. The only thing I did to secure it was bend the wire at the top to hook it in the top link of the pendant chain and then wrap it around the chain and it stayed perfectly in place all on it’s own.

The Fresh Cut Christmas Trees sign is seriously the most affordable purchase I’ve ever made! It’s not only so pretty but it’s only $5! For a sign this size to only be $5 is mind boggling to me! I just love it!

I wanted to add some festive decorations to the center of the island, so I went with this 3-foot tall tree. I love how it’s not super full like other trees are. It’s the exact look I was searching for and I was so psyched when I found it at Walmart for only $8! To make it white, I just sprayed it with snow spray! I used snow spray on the real Christmas tree in our house too. You guys know I love white in my house, so I had to add some white to the trees too

I added the silver bulbs that I got out of a pack of ornaments that I used for the tree we have in our front formal living room. I bought this pack of ornaments because it has really large silver bulbs that I needed for our 9-foot tree in our formal living room. But the pack of ornaments also came with these tiny bulbs that I was able to use on this smaller tree and they look absolutely perfect! I also added a little scrap piece of garland I had leftover when I was cutting up the garland and put it in around the tree. And used these pretty glass Christmas trees that light up! They actually have a timer you can set so when you turn them on they’re not on all day long. Molly loves it when we turn them on! I really like that the decorations in the center have a light look to contrast the greenery I used in the rest of the kitchen. Plus, if you don’t have an all white kitchen like we do, it’s great to decorate with light and white Christmas decorations to give the room a brighter look!

Did you notice the wreath I have hanging on the wall over by the fridge in the corner of the kitchen? I love how elegant and understated it is. You probably noticed based on the other decor in my house that I really like to keep things simple because I think they are most impactful that way. So when I was searching Walmart I was looking for a plain green wreath with small pine cones that had a wispy look. And by that I mean it didn’t look super full. So I stumbled across this wreath for under $30 and it was exactly what I was looking for. If you want a classic and simple wreath for your front door or inside your home, this one is a great fit! And I use the same burlap ribbon that I used on the wreaths on the back of our kitchen counter stools to add a simple bow detail. I absolutely love it! In fact, I was able to use one roll of burlap ribbon to create all the bows in my kitchen and I still have some left over!

Well I think that’s everything! Let me know if you have any questions! I couldn’t be more in love with our kitchen’s Christmas decor, so I hope you all enjoyed this blog post and find it useful to help you decorate your kitchen this holiday season! I’d love to know what you guys think or any other ideas you might have for holiday decor in the comments below. I still have a bunch of other spaces in our home that I want to decorate and I’m always open to other peoples ideas!

Back at work today after my surgery on Friday! I wanted to give you guys an update since you have all been so supportive. Plus if anyone else has to get a D & C to get placenta removed, I want you to know that it’s sooooooooo nothing to worry about! So I’m sharing my experience today.

The morning going in I was slightly nervous. Mostly because I have been under anesthesia before and woke up from it sooooo nauseous in the past. The thought of going through that again made me, well, nauseous! And don’t judge me, but the second thing I was most concerned about was my eyebrows! Ha! As you guys might know from my Instagram stories, I recently got my eyebrows microbladed – just a few days before my surgery. And you’re supposed to keep ointment on them for two weeks after and keep them dry. Meaning they can’t get wet. So while I was in pre-op for my surgery I made sure my doctor, the anesthesiologist and my O.R. nurse all knew to avoid my eyebrows (with surgical tape or anything). Ha! I’m not even kidding. They all laughed about it and commented on how good my eyebrows look! They were humoring me. I had a really great team of doctors and nurses working on me, all with a great sense of humor! Plus, I live in Los Angeles and they’re probably used to this type of thing. The anesthesiologist even said to me “oh you just got your eyelash extensions, I’ll make sure to watch out for them.” So I’m guessing I’m not the first person that’s walked in there and had cosmetic concerns. It’s silly but a funny memory I will always have.

In fact, my OB/GYN was asking me about my microblading experience as they were putting me under anesthesia. So the very last thing I remember before I fell sleep was raving to her about my microblading experience. Ha!

The details are fuzzy when I woke up. I know I spoke to my doctor afterwards, but I have no memory of it. And I remember Kevin calling Grandpa Joe from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But overall I snapped out of it very quickly and had zero nausea! Which is pretty incredible considering the fact that the two other times I’ve been under anesthesia, I got so so so sick waking up. My mom gets sick waking up from it too. I think it’s because I told the anesthesiologist before the surgery that I get really nauseous and he gave me some medication through my IV to help with it. He also asked me if I get carsick and motion sickness, and I told him that I do so he gave me a little patch that they stuck behind my ear that helps with motion sickness and therefore would help when the anesthesia wore off. So my advice to anybody who has gotten sick from anesthesia before is to tell your anesthesiologist about it before you go under again. And if you’ve never been under but are having a procedure where you will be –  if you get motion sickness or car sickness make sure to tell your anesthesiologist about it beforehand! I was never asked that beforehand and got super sick. Maybe if my other anesthesiologists in the past had asked me that, then they could’ve given me the same patch behind my ear and it would’ve helped. So hopefully this helps someone out there reading this who’s going into a surgery.

Me this morning about to head into work!

And I’m just realizing that some of you might not know what my surgery was! I talked about on my blog and Instagram quite a few times but I’ll do a quick recap for anyone wondering. I had a D & C to have some leftover placenta in my uterus removed. Basically after I gave birth to my son Riley 6 months ago, all of the placenta didn’t come out with him. Same thing happened when I had my daughter Molly over two years ago. But with her, it eventually worked it’s way out on it’s own. It was such a small piece and my doctor gave me medication to help my uterus contract and it got it out on its own. This time around, I had the same medication but it didn’t work. Then we decided to wait a while to see if getting my cycle back would take care of the problem. And yes, I got my cycle back even though I’m still breastfeeding. I had it twice in fact and it still didn’t remove the leftover placenta. That stuff is sticky! So we finally decided it was time to have the surgery. We basically waited as long as we did because nobody wants to go into surgery if they don’t have to. But the reason it’s important to have it removed is because it puts you at risk for infection or blood clots. So I’m glad it’s done and over with. It was shockingly easy! So if anybody out there reading this is about to have the same procedure, don’t stress at all! It was actually kind of a nice relaxing break from the kiddos to be honest with you. Ha!

Anyway, I’m back at work at Home & Family today and feeling great! I still feel cramping, but I know it will go away soon. I’m mostly just feeling good about the whole thing being behind me because I don’t have to think about it anymore. I think when you become a parent, going into any sort of surgery (even if it’s super minor) is scary because you have two kiddos that are counting on you to wake up from it. And while I had no doubt I would wake up from it. It was a thought that crossed my mind.

Real quick before I go, and because I just think the outfit is so cute, I’m gonna give you details on what I’m wearing today. As you can see from these photos, our house on Home & Family (the show I work on) is covered in fake snow. Even though it’s pretty warm here in LA, it can be super chilly in the mornings. This morning it was in the 50s! So I put on my cutest, comfiest Koolaburra by UGG boots. I actually had another pair that I always wore but when I went home to Massachusetts a few weeks ago my sister loved them so I gave them to her. I’m a sucker for sharing with family (which we all should be!). So I got another pair for myself! Plus I just love anything with a cute little bow detail on it. I live in these things! I even wear them at home around the house because they’re as comfortable as slippers. I got them at Nordstrom Rack for a ridiculously good price at under $90! You’re going to pay a lot more for them other places.

And while I was on Nordstrom Rack’s website I found this cashmere sweater. I’ve never, in my entire life, bought a cashmere sweater. They’ve just always been way out of my price range. In fact, this cashmere sweater (it comes in a blush/wisteria color too) was originally over $400! WHAT?!?! I’m not even kidding. But it’s on sale right now for $139! Even that is slightly more than I like to spend on a quality sweater. But given the original price and the fact that it was 65% off, I just had to take a chance on it! I figured if I didn’t like it, I could always just send it back. But I’m happy to say I’m absolutely obsessed with it! So much so that I bought it in the blush/wisteria color as well. And it’s great to wear with necklaces layered on top. My ball and chain necklace from my jewelry line is PERFECT to wear with it! I also linked my purse and $29 leggings below the photos.

Anyway you guys, I just wanted to write this blog post to give you an update on my surgery and to say thank you for all of your love and support throughout it all. I know it’s silly and it was minor, but I was still nervous and it felt good to have you all there for me. I hope I’m there for you in some small way too! Love you guys.

Oh my gosh, you guys! You all know I work for Hallmark and I am super pumped that they are sponsoring this post cause I’m so excited to tell you guys about their new Fresh Cut Christmas trees that they ship right to your front door! As you guys know, I’m absolutely over the moon about decorating our house for Christmas this year! And we started early. I had a bunch of Christmas decorations up before Halloween. Ha! There’s just something about Christmas decorations that make home feel so much more cozy! Anyway, after we had put up some decorations I felt like something was missing. And I finally realized after a couple weeks with that missing thing was. Our home didn’t smell like a real Christmas pine tree! You know how some smells and sounds can take you right back to a special time in your life? Well for me, the smell of a fresh pine tree takes me back to when I was a kid. We always got a real tree in our house and every time I smell one I feel like I’m 10 years old again at my parents house.

And Kevin was missing that smell too! So at first we just bought some pine scented candles and lit them around the house and that helped but it’s just not the same as the real thing! So we decided that we wanted to get a real tree! We looked into some places that sell them in our city and thought about going to pick one up. However, we didn’t have any other supplies necessary to strap it to the top of our car. Even if we went and bought them, the idea of doing that and potentially scratching up the roof of our cars wasn’t my favorite idea. And the main reason we didn’t want to do it is because we have a two-year-old and a six-month-old and going and getting a tree, tying it to the roof of our car, and getting it in our house seemed like such a huge ordeal with our two little ones. I know some people like to go cut down their own trees but there isn’t anything like that where we live and again, that’s something you have to have the time and resources to do. Luckily, I soon discovered Hallmark’s Fresh Cut Christmas Trees on Amazon! I work for Hallmark Channel and I can’t believe I didn’t even know about this! And the fact that I didn’t know made me think maybe a lot of you didn’t know so I’m so excited to share it with you guys! I’ve always known you can get a lot of stuff on Amazon, but selling fresh cut Christmas trees is absolutely genius! Basically they sell a bunch of different kinds including Balsam FirBlack Hills SpruceFraser Fir, and Spruce Snow Tip trees. (We got the Fraser Fir) They ship for free! The absolute best part is that each tree comes from family Christmas tree farms in the USA. I love that you can bring something into your home for your family to enjoy and also support family farmers all around our country!

Oh my gosh, and another awesome thing about it is every single tree is hand selected and freshly cut 4-7 days prior to being shipped to you. The reason I think this is so awesome is that I remember one year our family went and got a tree from a pop up shop that was selling them in our town, and a couple weeks later it was completely dead! Well before Christmas! And I think that’s because the people probably cut it down weeks before we bought it and it was sitting on the lot. The cool thing about these Hallmark fresh trees is that because they are freshly cut 4-7 days prior to shipping, you know it’s going to last you til Christmas!

So anyway, I ordered a tree for our master bedroom! I love decorating for the holidays throughout the whole house, not just one room. I didn’t know what to expect when I ordered the tree, but when it arrived at my doorstep (along with the fresh garland I ordered)  I was able to easily carry the box upstairs to our bedroom. What I immediately noticed is how great it was to have the tree contained in the box while transporting it through my house. Heck yes to no pine needles all over the home and having to vacuum them all up! And bonus, it comes with “tree food” (tree preservative) and a tree removal bag so you can easily remove it from your house after the season is over – without getting pine needles throughout! They really thought of everything. FYI, the wreath on my door in these pics is a fresh pine wreath from Hallmark too! It smells sooooo good.

I took the tree out of the box in our bedroom and the entire room instantly smelled like Christmas! It smelled like home! The next day Molly and I started decorating it with my Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. I’ve been collecting Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments for almost 15 YEARS now! I started the fairy series 14 years ago when my ex-boyfriend’s mother gave me one for Christmas. Ha! Now here I am 14 years later and I still have to have every fairy in the series, they release a new one every year, and I started ornament collections for my kids. The year I was pregnant with Molly I started a collection for her. And I’m starting a collection of cute little vintage cars for Riley this year! In addition to fresh-cut Christmas trees, Hallmark offers an entire line of cards, ornaments and gift wrap on Amazon, so you can get everything you need to deck the halls with one click!

Anyway, I just had such a great experience with the tree that I wanted to share that experience with all of you! What do you love most about Christmas? The smells? The food? The decorations? All of the above?! Tell me in the comments below! I love hearing all of your stories.
