If you’re a consultant, the marketplace is getting way more competitive and you’re likely struggling with one of three things: A consistent flow of quality leads. Charging what you’re worth. And not getting burned out.

So if you want to grow your financial freedom this year without getting burned out in the process, I’ve learned there are 4 things you must do.

1. Be Specific About What You Offer

No one cares about you or what you are selling. They only care about what results will you get them and how are you going to do that. So you have to ensure you’re extremely clear on your messaging. Don’t speak about general ideas. Speak to the specific results.

2. Remember, Relevancy is Better Than Celebrity Branding

The modern day marketplace is very noisy. Everyone, from their grandma to their kids, are creating content from the palm of their hand. It’s never been easier to get in the game – but it’s also never been harder to get the attention of your ideal client.

If you haven’t learned the skills of being 100% relevant to your industry and their pain points, they will tune you out and you won’t get leads. And the crazy part? They are tuning you out unconsciously because their brain has to focus on how to solve to their problems.

Remember to speak the language of What’s In It For Me. WIIFM. If you’re not speaking to someone’s specific and detailed pain points and outcomes – you will be ignored.

3. Leverage Your Message.

As a coach and consultant – you wanted to HELP and SERVE people. Not spend all your time marketing and selling. This is why it’s incredibly important that you have an “indoctrination” sequence on autopilot that does three things.

  1. Repels the clients you don’t enjoy working with and can’t afford you.
  2. Causes the clients that you enjoy working with to fall in love with the idea of working with you and to have zero doubt about the value of your time and services.
  3. Finish the pre-work required so you can easily sell your offer for the money you’re worth, without feeling high pressure stakes, stress, or like a slimy salesperson.

4. Increase Your CORE Power

I left the most important for last. This is the missing piece that most people don’t get. And the best tactics and strategies will fail you if this principle isn’t understood.

When it comes to selling consulting, your tactics and strategy are only effective to the degree of your confidence and certainty levels in yourself. If at your CORE, you don’t trust and respect yourself, the marketplace will respond by not having trust and respect for you. Instead, they will respond by giving you more opportunities to express your doubt and fear.

In other words, you can never outwork your own concept of yourself. This is why expansion is played on two fields constantly. First, the outward strategies and second: the growing of your inner certainty. Knowing the skills to move forward in BOTH areas is critical.

The Stakes

If you ignore any of these four principles this year, you’re setting yourself up to:

  • Work hard to gain new skill sets, only to keep getting the same results
  • Feel like a hamster running on an endless wheel
  • Struggle to a point where you feel every day you’re carrying a big boulder on your shoulders
  • Not getting great leads
  • Not closing the important sales
  • Closing the sale, but experiencing drama with your clients.

On the other hand, if you are specific with your message, if you remember relevancy, if you leverage your message and if you expand your core power…2018 will be yours for the taking.

Knowing your core values helps serve as your guide post to every decision you make.

Ultimately, your core values are the drivers of your decisions.

If you want to know what someone values, look at their actions. It’s usually a pretty clear indicator.

For example, let’s say you find a $20 bill on the floor while waiting in line at the grocery store and you have no idea who it may belong to.

While some people may pick up the $20 bill and ask every single person in line if it’s there’s, another person may simply put in their pocket.

This shows one person values justice over wealth while another person values wealth over justice.

In this example, their values are driving their behavior.

If you’re open, I’ll have you consider, knowing what your core values are can be your “secret sauce” to having your content stand out from the noise.

This can become your “secret sauce” because your values can become something you stand for when creating content.

And when you stand for something, you create polarization in the market place and it will help you rally an audience around your stance.

What To Do With These Values

Step 1:

Take the time to go through the above list and pick the top 20 values that resonate with you.

To begin, don’t over think it.

Simply trust your intuition and it the word “speaks” to you or feels right, select it.

Don’t worry about the order to begin with.

Step 2:

Once you have selected 20 values then move on to using an exercise called the “Contrasting Values Exercise.”

During this exercise start with the value at the top of your list and compare it with the one directly underneath it.

For example, let’s say the first value on your list in honesty and the second value on your list in Adventure.

Paint a picture using extremes such as…

…You could be extremely honest, where everyone in the world, as soon as they hear your name, they know you’re the most honest person on the planet. They know with 100% certainty, they can trust you no matter what, but you cannot experience Adventure.

Everyone knows you can be trusted, yet life is the same every single day.

Or…and then paint the extreme contrasting story…

…You could be extremely adventurous, where every day your sky diving, scuba diving, learning to fly your own private jet and going on safaris.

Yet, you’re dishonest. You have a ton of adventure, yet you’re a liar and everyone knows it.

Which value would you choose? Honesty or Adventure.

Personally, I would choose Honestly because it’s what I value.

By the way, there is no right or wrong and the more honest you’ll be with what you value, the more you’ll start taking actions which are congruent with your core.

And since I choose Honesty in this example, that becomes the top value so far in the “Contrasting Values Exercise.”

Step 3:

Then you repeat the “Contrasting Values Exercise” comparing the top value to all the rest in your list, until you know exactly, which is your top value.

Then you repeat the exercise again to find your second value and on it goes until you identify your top 5 values.

Everyone on the planet experiences self doubt at some point in their life.

It’s one of those things if not kept in check that can totally derail your life and business.

Some people may look as if they do not have self doubt, yet I would have you consider they do and have learned how to become aware of it and stop it immediately.

Today I want to share with you a four step process for overcoming self doubt immediately.

What Is Self Doubt

Dictionary.com defines self doubt as the lack of confidence in the reliability of one’s own motives, personality, thought, etc.

This is crazy if you really think about it because if we are not confident in our own ability, then who else can be confident in us.

If you’re constantly questioning your ability, you’re probably hiring mentor after mentor, or taking course after course so you can borrow some confidence and certainty from this.

While this may work for you short term, I will have you consider it’s not sustainable long term.

To take it even further, if you feel stuck in your life and business I would be wiling to bet it’s probably do to self doubt.

Otherwise, you’d me taking massive action.

The Consequences of Self Doubt

I will have you consider, the ramifications of self doubt go way past lack of confidence and certainty in your ability.

Out of all the people I work and mentor with, most do not see this correlation.

They do not realize the reason they seem stuck in business, the reason they keep trying tactic after tactic and not seeing results, comes down to they don’t 100% believe in themselves.

While this may seem trivial, it’s not because if you are executing marketing and sales strategies on a foundation of self-doubt, the market place can feel this and this is probably why you are not seeing results.

Let me explain.

There is an old spiritual adage that states, “As within, so without.”

What this really means is the world can only give you what you are willing to give yourself.

So if you are doubting yourself and your abilities, so will the market place.

You cannot fake it until you make it.

Not in the modern day marketplace.

People smell bullshit faster than chickens eat June Bugs.

This is why you must believe in yourself, your strategy and know you will be committed and adjust as need be to hit your targets.

This is why you must stop doubting yourself if you are serious about creating life on your terms.

Let’s get into how to overcome self doubt as soon as it rears it’s ugly head, because it will.

I assure you.

4 Steps To Overcome Self Doubt

Step 1: Become aware it exists.

Sounds crazy, yet awareness is crucial because how can you stop something if you are not aware of it?

Stop pretending you have all the answers and get extremely honest with yourself.

Admit you have doubt.

Step 2: Call bullshit.

You are way more powerful than you ever know.

There are examples after examples of human beings completing incredible feats.

There is a mantra in the Navy Seal Program called the 40% Rule, “which means when you think your done and have reached your limit, you’re actually only 40% done.”

So when you hear or feel that tiny little voice within you say you cannot do that, call bullshit.

Step 3: Mock the Voice

This serves as a pattern interrupt, which means as you are going about your day feeling a certain way, you do something to interrupt the state you are in — the feeling you are experiencing in that moment.

If you are experiencing self doubt maybe you’re feeling hopeless, frustrated, angry, stuck, sad or shameful.

You’re probably experiencing any feeling except courage in that moment.

So break your state my mocking that little self doubting voice four times, in four different voices.

Maybe your little self doubting voice is saying something like, “If you make that video, no one is every going to listen to you.”

Or maybe that voice says something like, “Who you are you to do that?”

Once you become aware of it and choose not to ignore it, call bullshit and then mock it in four of the weirdest voices you can come up with.

Use a Pee Wee Herman voice, use a Kermit the Frog Voice, use a scary monster voice, anything you want.

By doing so, you’ll see how silly that self doubting voice really is.

Step 4: Take the Next Empowering Action that’s Counter to the Self Doubt

Experience is the only thing that will shift your mindset.

People what to live in some fairy tale land thinking if they just want until they are inspired to do something or maybe one day they will feel confident to finally do something about it.

Yet, the reality is self doubt when left unchecked will keep you playing small.

It will keep you sitting on the sidelines, watching everyone else play the game, while you sit their complaining how you could do better.

Then do so.

Do better.

Once you mock that silly little voice of self doubt, take action because once you do, you will immediately silence the voice of self doubt.

It can no longer torment you because it doesn’t have legs to stand.

You just created a new experience that is counter to what it said and it can no longer argue with you.

The faster you lean into the fear and take action, the faster you will overcome your self doubt and create what you want.

Many people believe personal branding is only for social media influencers and others who are authors, speakers or info-preneurs.

According to Intuit, “the Gig Economy is now estimated to be about 34% of the workforce and is expected to be 43% by the year 2020.”

In a nutshell, the Gig Economy is the transition of traditional employment into more contract for hire jobs.

This means if you want a secure job, you better create it for yourself.

No one is coming to save you.

It’s time for you to take 100% responsibility of your life and career.

While some may see this as the demise of society and the traditional American Dream, I see this as a gift for creative entrepreneurs everywhere to reclaim their personal power and thrive.

The Rise of the Personal Brand

We live in a day in age where most serviced based jobs can be completed from any where in the world.

We live in a day and age where machines and SAAS business models are replacing the jobs of people.

So if you’re not extremely passionate and great at what you do, someone around the world is and that is who will get the job.

I believe moving forward, this trend will start to increase and if you do not have a personal brand that stands out, you’ll go broke.

Many critics of the Gig Economy argue workers lack protection and fair pay. They go as far to say workers are pressured to work when companies need them.

Are you kidding me?

No one can force you to do anything.

Remember who you are Rebel and re-claim your divinity.

You were put on this earth to share your unique gift with the world.

To shine your light as bright as can be.

I urge you to know your worth and demand it.

I’ve learned until you see your worth and command trust and respect for yourself, no one is going to give it to you.

In fact, they cannot.

They can only give you what you are willing to give to yourself.

I’ve written about the difference between being a “nice” person and a “good” person and it’s been quite controversial.

If you want to thrive in the modern day marketplace, you must learn to be a “good” person who knows how much value you have to offer and charge accordingly.

I overlooked pinned tweets for a long time and boy did it cost me.

I lost out on hundreds of people subscribing into my email list and I a result I left thousands of dollars on the table.

I don’t want that to happen to you so I’m going to tell you why you need a pinned tweet.

First let’s start off on what it is.

What is a Pinned Tweet

A Pinned Tweet is a feature of Twitter that allows you to pin a tweet to the top of your Twitter feed.

This means as you continue to share new tweets, your Pinned Tweet always stays at the top of your Twitter feed.

This makes it the first tweet people see when they visit your Twitter account.

Some people make the mistake of pinning one of their quotes or some tongue-in-cheek tweet.

If you’re wanting to build your email list, this is a complete waste of a Pinned Tweet.

Instead, I recommend using a promotional type of tweet.

I will give you an example here shortly.

I believe the sole point of social media is to either build relationships with people who will help make your dreams a reality or build your email list.

These are the only two reasons I use social media.

If you’re wanting to build your email list as well, let me teach you the best ways to create a Pinned tweet so you build your email list.

Steps to Create the Best Pinned Tweet

Having a great Pinned Tweet that helps you build your email list takes a bit of testing.

The good news is it’s a lot easier than many make it out to be.

1. Choose A Tweet That Gets You The Most Clicks

If you’re just starting, I like to simply craft three to five various promotional tweets using an image with different headlines and tweet them out.

After they are live for 24 hours, I go back in and look to see which ones got the most clicks.

I will have you consider, retweets and favorites are not the best metric for success if you’re wanting to build your email list.

Instead, clicks are a better metric for this because clicks mean they clicked the link, which means more traffic for you.

Once you know which of your promotional tweets is getting the most clicks, make that your Pinned Tweet.

2. Optimize For Clicks and Retweets

Research shows tweets that follow the following formula get more clicks and retweets:

Headline URL #hashtag #hashtag

Do not use more than two hashtags. More is not always better and it is certainly the case with hashtags.

I wrote an entire post about the best ways to use a hashtag on Twitter.

3. Leave Room to Encourage Retweets

Some people don’t simply hit the RT icon and they like to manually Retweet things so give them space to do so.

Twitter allows you 140 characters. If you use all 140, you don’t give the old school manual Retweeters enough room to work their magic.

So make sure you keep your tweet to 120 or so characters.

4. Add an Image

Buffer did some great research and found, Tweets with images receive 18% more clicks.

And remember our goal with Pinned Tweets is clicks. So make sure you use an image.

If I’m promoting an ebook or video series I like using MyeCoverMaker.com to make a digital representation of my offer and then use Canva.com to create the Twitter image.

It’s very easy.

5. Don’t Forget to Test

This is the big step many people forget. Not all offers are created equal.

This is where you should pay attention to the data.

Look at your Twitter Analytics for each tweet to see which of your promotional tweets is getting the most clicks.

Then adjust as necessary.

Below you’ll find my best performing Pinned Tweet:

You’ll see it’s simple.

The key I found for me is, pain always gets more clicks than pleasure.

I first tried using the following tweet:

The 7 Twitter Solutions For Business URL #socialmedia #SMM

It didn’t convert as well as the above example because it was pleasure driven.

The only way I found this out is I tweeted both tweets out throughout the day.

Same image, same hashtags, just a different headline and low and behold the pain driven headline out performed the pleasure driven one.

I recommend you keeping this in mind as you go out and create your promotional and Pinned Tweets.

While you must be able to create great information to help people get results, information in and of itself, isn’t enough.

What’s the solution?

Why You Should Tell Your Story

Your story is what will separate you from the rest of the people who do something similar to you.

For generations stories have bound civilizations together, unified groups of people, created change and even sold billions of dollars of products and services.

Stories are the thing that allow your ideal client or customer to bond with you.

Stories are the thing that allow your ideal client or customer know you are just like them and that you out of all the people, they could give their trust and respect to, understand them.

Without stories, you are simply another person peddling their goods and services.

How to Tell Your Story

Here’s a four step framework I learned from Jeff Walker, the founder of the Product Launch Formula.

It’s one I’ve used and adopted a bit for me and my clients to tell our stories.

This can be used in your videos, webinars, blogs, etc.

A framework is a psychological way of stacking sentences and paragraphs to be able to influence your reader or viewer to take action.

This will help you stand out from the others in your industry, as well as connect with your ideal client and influence them to take action.

Step #1:

I’m a lot like you, I just wanted [INSERT THEIR DESIRE]. or You’re a lot like many of my clients. Many of them just wanted [INSERT THEIR DESIRE].

This will help you get their attention.

I will have you consider no one cares about you because every single person on the planet is tuned into one single frequency. It’s called WIIFM.

It stands for What’s In It For Me.

In order to capture your ideal client’s attention you talk about what they want first.

Then you can build some trust and respect with them by telling them how you or the people you’ve worked with experience the same types of painful realities too.

Step #2:

I used to be or feel just like you. I [INSERT THEIR PAINFUL REALITY] but I couldn’t figure out [INSERT WHAT THEY WANT TO HAVE].

This will help you establish a connection with the reader or viewer because they will know you understand their struggle.

People want to buy from people who have been in their shoes.

This step of the process will help get your ideal client to like you.

Step #3:

I found a way to change. [INSERT STORY OF HOW YOU FOUND A SOLUTION].

During this step, you’ll want to talk about how you found a solution.

It needs to be interesting.

There are five ways of finding a way to change.

1. Going off and studying
2. You studied with a master
3. You interviewed all the experts
4. You worked like crazy like a mad, experimenting scientist
5. The crazy discovery

I don’t know what it is for you, yet consider how you found the solution for your ideal client.

This will help position you as the authority who has the answer they are looking for.

Step #4:

Now I just want to share it with you because [INSERT WHY].

There are generally two reasons why you want to share the solution with your ideal client.

1. Save Them Pain
2. Us Against Them

If you want to save them pain, then use the first option of why you want to share a solution with them.

Another way you can convince your ideal client that you’re not shady is to tell a story using an Us Against Them.

One of the biggest breakthroughs I had in 2016 was understanding you cannot have a great story without conflict.

Think about it…every great movie or book has conflict. There is a hero and an epic villain of some sort.

In today’s political correct climate, no one wants to step on people’s toes.

As a result, we have a society full of nice people and the market place is starving for good people.

So take a stand in your industry.

I would have you consider you are not trying to sell to everyone. If you do, this approach will keep you running on an endless hamster wheel of lack-luster results.

Instead, work to attract and resonate with your ideal clients.

Story Example

Here’s an example of putting this story framework into action:

You see, I’m probably a lot like you.

All I’ve ever wanted is to have my own business that would allow me to express my creative gifts and talents, make a positive difference in the world, travel, go on adventures with friends and family and make $100,000 or more each year in the process.

I used to be confused, overwhelmed, frustrated and feel like growing a Lifestyle Business was hard and a lot of work.

But I found a way to change after going on a life altering trip to a desert in Arizona.

Now I just want to share it with you.

Do you see how I put all that together.

Now it’s your turn.

Every time I’m on a podcast or radio show, hosts ask me what are a few books I’ve read that have made a big impact on my life.

Book #1: The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss.

This book opened my eyes to a whole new world in 2008-2009.

Prior to reading this book, I thought in order to have a highly profitable business you must have a brick-and-mortar location with a staff and employees.

After reading the 4 Hour Work Week, I learned you can create a $100,000+ per year business as long as you have a laptop and internet connection.

And you could do this from anywhere the world, while working part-time.

I learned you can use the internet to sell a product or service and use paid ads to test your idea.

This way you can validate your idea before you waste a lot of time and money.

This was a game changer for me because it opened my eyes to a whole new world.

I thought to myself, “Why didn’t they teach me this in university? I would have totally majored in this instead of art!”

This book lead me to discovering and learning from people like Brendon Burchard and Mike Koenigs.

As a result, I launched a social media consulting business in 2011 called A New Way to Market.

I grew that business to make $5,400 per month with no employees, and it allowed me to work from any where I wanted, as long as I had my laptop and internet connection.

In 2012, I shut that business down because I got burnt out, but that’s a whole other story.

I would have you consider, the old world of having to meet people physically face-to-face and fulfill a product or service in person is dying faster and faster.

Book #2: Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins

By March 2010, I lost pretty much everything in my life except my health.

My parents told me they were getting a divorce on my birthday, my girlfriend broke up with me, I was out of work, my truck wasn’t working, my career as a professional musician ended, I didn’t have a place to live and I had less than $500 to my name.

I had to drive my ex-girlfriend’s Jeep over to my Dad’s to ask him if I could live with him for a few months so I could get back on my feet.

I was embarrassed and devastated.

During this time, one of my best friends recommend I read
Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins
.

He thought it would help me and boy was he right.

The biggest lesson I learned from this book was the quality of your questions, determine the quality of your life.

Prior to reading this book, when things didn’t go the way I wanted them to go, I would mentally beat myself up for weeks and months at a time.

Often times I would feel the super high’s of success and the super lows when I encountered obstacles along my path.

Tony helped me to become aware of what I asked myself and to turn anything I encountered into a lesson to help me grow so I could continue my vision of creating a Lifestyle Business.

Without this book, I may have given up and killed myself. Who knows.

Thankfully, I learned how to truly live the Biblical Principle of “Ask and you shall receive.”

This is why I would have you consider, you must be very careful what you are asking for because you will certainly get what you ask.

If you are asking yourself things such as, “Why I am such a failure or why does this always happen to me?”

You will certainly find the answer.

These types of questions are disempowering and yields disempowering answers.

Now, if you flip this around and ask empowering questions such as, “What can I learn from this? What good can come from this? What could I do right now with what I have right now to get X result?”

You will find empowering answers and as a result you can take the corresponding actions to get whatever it is you want from this life.

Since reading this book, I’ve learned it’s not what happens to you that defines your life, but rather what you do with what happens to you.

The same situation can happen to two people.

One can victimize themselves, ask disempowering questions and go down a path of chaos and self-destruction.

Yet another person can consciously choose to ask empowering questions, get empowering answers and create a life of their dreams.

Be careful what you ask for because you will find exactly what you are looking for.

This book was a huge influence in my mindset and how I see life.

Every day I encounter various obstacles to creating a highly profitable Lifestyle Business and this book has helped me find lessons, evolve, grow and make my dreams a reality.

Book #3: Your Faith Is Your Fortune by Neville Goddard

In 2015, I had created a profitable personal brand known as the #TwitterRockstar.

I had been featured on places like CNN, Business Insider and CreativeLive and trained well over 10,000 people.

Yet in the dark recesses of my mind, I was depressed and felt like I had to force my way through life and was constantly on the verge of burning out.

Then I read a book called Your Faith Is Your Fortune.

Prior to reading this book, I thought if I just worked hard I would create a business and life I loved.

Growing up I was told the key to success was to work hard and save a lot.

While this served me massively, it also kept me playing small because I never truly believed I was good enough.

I always felt like I need to prove how good I was to people.

After reading this book, I learned life gives you exactly who are being at your core.

Meaning, if at your core you feel you must always prove your value to people, then life will always give you opportunities to prove your value to people.

The Bible put it this way…

“Give and it shall be given to you, pressed down and running over.”

This is why for many years I always felt like life and business was hard work.

This is why I was constantly on the verge of burning out.

This was happening because I wasn’t respecting and honoring myself.

So I went to work on this and at my core shifted how I felt about myself.

I used to look in the mirror and see this weak, awkward, skinny white boy.

Now after several months of fight training, meditation, journalling and stop people pleasing, I can look in the mirror and see a bad ass, powerful, creator of anything he wants from this life.

As a result, life feels easier, lighter and make more money than I ever have before, while working with amazing clients and traveling to cool places in the world.

Two weeks ago, I unplugged from everything for 10 days.

No cell phone. No laptop. No wifi. No talking. No reading. No writing.

The only thing I could do is eat, sleep, drink and meditate.

For over four years, I’ve wanted to go to a 10 Day Vipassana Course in Kaufman, Texas.

I made so many excuses in the past of why I couldn’t go.

No time. My clients need me. It will cost me too much in lost opportunities. Blah. Blah. Blah.

My wife encouraged me to make it happen, so in November of 2016, I went online, looked up the dates, applied and got in for their February 22, 2017 course.

I had no idea what it was going to be like or what would come from it.

During my ten day stay there, I spent 120 hours meditating and found their are two deadly beliefs that kill many people’s dreams of having a highly profitable Lifestyle Business.

Deadly Belief #1. Believing You Can Think Your Way to Clarity

One of the major reasons I went to the course was because I felt stuck.

In 2008, I read a book by Tim Ferris called the 4 Hour Work Week and it gave me a completely new perspective on life.

For the first time ever, I was introduced to the idea of working from any where in the world as long as I had a laptop and internet connection.

Until reading Tim’s book, I didn’t even know that was a possibility.

After reading his book, I decided if Tim could do it, I could as well.

I had no clue what that would look like or how to do it, yet I felt that’s what my soul wanted to experience.

So I went all in.

Fast forward to 2016, I had accomplished everything my soul was yearning for in 2008.

I had a lifestyle business, I was serving people around the world, I was waking up to emails on my phone notifying me of new sales and new people who joined my email list, I made $100,000 in a year and I had a respectable personal brand that tens of thousands of people followed.

That was the exact vision I had for my life in 2008.

Yet, every day I was waking up with no sense of purpose any more.

People would ask me, “What do you see for yourself in the next 5 years or 10 years?”

And that question would always stump me.

I couldn’t even see 90 days out, yet alone 5 years!

Maybe you can relate to this?

If so, I learned you cannot think your way to clarity.

Clarity only comes during times you are taking massive action.

During the second day of the Vipassana Course, I was walking around one of the nature trails at the retreat.

Actually, it was more of pacing rather than walking.

When we were not meditating, we could walk around the nature trail.

By the second day, I felt a large sense of anger stirring in my body.

I was angry because I didn’t know why I was wasting my time at this course rather than working on my business.

I was angry because I just got married a month before and here I was leaving my wife for this course.

I was angry because I didn’t know what I really wanted to do any more.

I was angry because I felt I should be further along in life than I thought I was.

I was just angry.

As I paced around the nature trail (it was probably only a 1/8 mile loop), I asked a simple question…

….“What do I enjoy helping people do the most?”

After lap number 4, I felt the answer arise within me.

It said…“Creating a Lifestyle Business. They want to be able to work from any where in the world. They want to be free. They want to be able to spend more time with their family and loved ones and you love helping them do that.”

All of a sudden for the first time in almost two years I felt like I could see.

No longer did I feel like I was standing on top of the mountain with nothing but fog surrounding me.

I was clear.

Now that I’ve been back in the swing of things for two weeks, I realize clarity comes from doing.

If I look back on my life, the biggest breakthroughs have come when I was doing things.

I’ve had revelations while lifting at the gym.

I’ve had revelations while boxing.

I’ve had revelations while running a Spartan Race.

I’ve had revelations while driving.

However it comes, clarity comes from doing.

So I would have you consider, if you feel stuck, if you feel you’re not clear…stop trying so hard to get clarity.

Stop reading books and writing things down to find clarity.

Instead, go be active doing something you love and set the intention of…

Divine Intelligence flows through me showing me my greatest and highest good. I am open and receive that which is best for me. I have eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to feel that which is best for me. I receive that which will help me help others.

In the stillness of the doing, the Voice speaks.

You may call this God, Spirit, Universe, Buddha, whatever.

I don’t care what you call it.

Just be open to receive clarity while you are in the middle of doing.

Deadly Belief #2. If I Want to Be the Best, I Must Compare Myself to the Best

I did this for 32 years of my life.

Growing up my dad taught me second place was nothing more than the first loser.

This belief anchored into my identity, at a very young age, to be the very best at everything I ever did.

As a result, I always compared to myself to what others were doing.

When I played club soccer, I looked at other guys playing the game and if they could do things I couldn’t do or didn’t know how to do, I immediately felt I was the first loser.

I never honored my own unique talents.

As a result, no matter what I would accomplish in life, I never felt good enough.

I always felt no one else struggled.

Maybe you an relate to this?

By the fourth day of the meditation course, we had sittings of strong determination.

What this meant was during an hour long meditation, we weren’t supposed to change our posture or open our eyes for an hour.

By the thirty-five minute mark, my body was hurting.

I couldn’t feel my feet, my ankles, back and even my neck hurt.

Yet, despite all this pain, the teacher asked us to remain equanimous and focus on our breathe coming in and out of our nose, scan our body from our head to feet and simply notice any sensations that arise.

I remember by about the forty-fifth minute I thought to myself…

“I wonder if anyone else is in as much pain as I am. Let’s look.”

So I opened my eyes to see all other 99 people sitting as stiff as a board, meditating.

I then felt this sense of shame wash over me.

It said, “You’re just weak. Look at all these people, they aren’t in any pain.

Maybe you should just go home, you’re not good enough to meditate properly.

You’re just wasting your time.”

Then I remembered the teacher’s words.

“Be equanimous to the senses that arise and simply just breathe.”

So I did and shortly after the hour of strong determination was complete.

Later that day, we had a group meeting with the teacher and he asked each one of us if we were able to feel any sensations.

Almost every person asked if it was normal to feel so much pain.

I laughed because I then realized, every single person was experiencing the same thing.

Many of them had even opened their eyes and had the exact same thoughts as I did.

I wasn’t fucked up.

I was just a human being.

This is why I would have you consider, comparisons are meaningless.

When you compare yourself to another person in your industry or in your position, you don’t really know what they are experiencing.

From the outside looking in, it may look like they have everything put together and all their ducks are in a row.

Yet, the reality may be they are as broken as you.

The good news is the moment you stop comparing yourself to others and start focusing on what you need to do to yield the result you desire, you immediately regain your power to shape your reality to your desires.

As long as you stay stuck comparing yourself to others, you are wasting time, energy and resources you could commit to getting what you want.
