Ok so I’m bringing this back from last year as a Top Recommendation because the second standalone, Professor Feelgood by Leisa Rayven was JUST ANNOUNCED and HOLY FREAKING SQUEEEEEEEEE this (first) book was AMAZING so I’m crazy excited for the next one!! They’re both standalones and this one was the absolute perfect balance between sexy steamy ROMANCE, laugh-out-loud HUMOR, strong FEELS, and intense ANGST!!!! I seriously adore this author’s writing and I have soooooo many quotes highlighted through the book!!! The story was ADDICTIVE, intriguing and totally unputdownable!! The hero was mysterious, elusive, and heart-stoppingly swoooooony, while the heroine was strong, sassy, and very real. I loved them together and I LOVED this book! I read it in one non-stop sitting and it’s easily my new top favorite recommendation for everyone who loves reading romance!!!! They can both standalone so be sure to start reading and grab a copy of Mister Romance and then pre-order Professor Feelgood!! Happy reading!

DETAILED LIST: NEW RELEASES

Kissing Jenna by Kristen ProbyNew Release!!

Can standalone: “She owns and manages vacation rentals [and has] just completed the construction of her most exhausting project, the one she’s put her heart and soul into. The inviting, opulent cottages are the first ski in/ski out tree houses in the world. Her biggest dream is about to come true, and she can’t let anything distract her.

He is Hollywood’s it actor. If the magazines are to be believed, he’s the sexiest man on earth. He’s preparing for the biggest movie role of his life, and his agent has booked him in a hot new ski lodge in Montana, tucked away from crazy fans. He can’t wait for the break.

But what he isn’t prepared for is her. With a face that could easily co-star with him in a movie and her ambition to put her stamp on Cunningham Falls, he can’t stay away. But even more intriguing than her beauty is the fact that she’s not at all impressed with his celebrity status, only turned on by the man behind the fame.

The love they’ve found is perfect—but time is running out before real life intrudes. Can they survive with both their dreams—and hearts—intact?”

The Real Deal by Lauren BlakelyNew Release!!

Standalone: “April Hamilton wants you to know she hasn’t been on Craigslist since that time she sold her futon after college. She doesn’t even spend that much time online. And even if she did, she would not be looking up personal ads. But going home alone for her family’s summer reunion is an invitation for every single relative to butt into her personal life. She simply can’t handle another blind date with the butcher, the baker or the candlestick maker from her hometown. So when she finds the Craigslist ad for a boyfriend-for-hire, she’s ready to pay to play…

She only wanted to show her family once and for all that she had no need to settle down. He didn’t expect to have the time of his life at her parent’s home. They didn’t plan on loving every single second of the game. But can a masterful game of pretend result in true love?“

Broken Love Story by Natasha MadisonNew Release!!

Can standalone: Her: “I had the perfect life; a husband who loved me, and two kids who were my world.  Until someone else answered his phone and my perfect life shattered.  When he died, I was left with answers he couldn’t give me and a box full of lies. He left me broken.”

Him: “I fell in love when I was fifteen, knowing she was the one. For five years, she was my everything—my every breath, every heartbeat, every thought. She made me promise to move on, promise to find love again, but I broke those promises because I can’t move on.”

Two broken souls brought together by tragedy and heartbreak. Can a broken love story be fixed?”

Heart of Glass by Nicole JacquelynNew Release!!

Can standalone: “Henry Harris was living his dream as a staff sergeant in the Marines. When he’s killed in action, his devastated family is in for one more shock: he had a daughter they never knew about.

Morgan Riley has been raising Etta on her own, and that’s always been fine by her – until Henry’s brother Trevor arrives on her doorstep, willing to do anything to help and make up for his brother’s mistakes. Their attraction feels wrong, but Morgan can’t seem to turn him away.

Trevor is suddenly in too deep. He has always wanted a family, but Etta and Morgan come with complications. Yet as Etta brings them closer together, Trevor begins to imagine giving Morgan and Etta the life his brother never could. But he wonders if Morgan will ever learn to trust another man with her heart, especially a man whose last name is Harris.”

The Accidentals by Sarina BowenNew Release!!

Standalone: “I’ve been listening to my father sing for my whole life. I carry him in my pocket on my mp3 player. It’s just that we’ve never met face to face. My mother would never tell me how I came to be, or why my rock star father and I have never met. I thought it was her only secret. I was wrong.

When she dies, he finally appears. Suddenly I have a first class ticket into my father’s exclusive world. A world I don’t want any part of – not at this cost. Only three things keep me going: my singing group, a swoony blue-eyed boy named Jake, and the burning questions in my soul.”

I Think I Love You by Lauren LayneNew Release!!

Can standalone: “She knows that dating in New York City is hard—she just hoped to have it mastered by age thirty. But after yet another promising suitor says they have no sparks, she decides it’s time to torch her dating game and try a new plan. And who better to coach her through the art of seduction than the guy who first gave her the “let’s be friends” card?

He always figured there’s nothing his best friend can do to surprise him. But her request is a surprise he doesn’t see coming—and one he’s definitely not prepared for… The fake dates and faux flirting are starting to feel like the real deal. And soon he realizes he has taught her too well. Not only has she become an expert at seduction, the man becoming thoroughly seduced is him.”

Charmed at First Sight by Sharla LovelaceNew Release!!

Can standalone: “A hot mess runaway bride and a smokin’ hot biker lock eyes at a red light. Lord have mercy . . . is our little town ready for this?

Never one to do things by the book, she couldn’t just chalk it up to bridal jitters, or even quietly call off her wedding to her long-time fiancé. No, she has to high-tail it out of the church sporting a dress that cost more than her car, and jump on the back of a smoking-hot stranger’s motorcycle. Her knight in all-black is headed to a town called Charmed, so that’s where she’ll go and try to lay low. Except their appearance raises plenty of eyebrow… and a sudden, intense attraction she has no business exploring. “

Knuckle Down by Chantal FernandoNew Release!!

Can standalone: “As a single father of two girls and the sergeant at arms for the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club, Jack “Knuckles” Chester doesn’t have much free time. And having earned his road name from his reputation as a fighter, Knuckles isn’t one to back away from a challenge.

But what he’ll never admit out loud is that his two daughters have changed him irrevocably, softened him even. And these two girls are the only women who will ever hold his heart forever. That is, until he meets Celina.”

Walk the Line by J. KennerNew Release!!

Can standalone: “She’s my boss’s daughter and my babysitter. That’s beyond complicated. And I’m not even looking for a relationship—but I can’t deny the attraction that sizzles between us. I need to ignore it. A single dad, all I want is to take care of my little girl, do my job, and enjoy my friends. Anything more is asking for complications I can’t afford. Asking to be hurt again. Trouble is, I want her, too. And when our flirty sparks turn to flames, I give in to temptation. Our secret fling is scorching hot, better than I’d even imagined. But secrets get out, and I could lose my job and my reputation. And I’m starting to realize she’s the one thing I’m not willing to lose.”

Freed by Carly PhillipsNew Release!!

Can standalone: “In the personal protection business, he thinks nothing of taking on a job to watch over a city girl in town for the summer. If her father wants to know his daughter is safe, it’s no problem and an easy way of earning a paycheck. Except he doesn’t count on falling for her. Watching her experience her firsts, getting an apartment, finding a job, meeting up with her lost sisters, soon his brand of protection becomes a little too personal. He’s mixing business with pleasure and lying to a woman he’s coming to care deeply about.”

Buckled by Pam GodwinNew Release!!

Can standalone: “I protect what’s mine. The ranch, my family, our buried secrets. Nothing will stop me from reassembling the life that went terribly wrong. Not the law. Not our enemies. Not even Maybe Quinn. The gorgeous, quarrelsome journalist shouldn’t have meddled. I shouldn’t have let her stay. But she’s hiding something in those deceptive blue eyes. Something deeper than her thirst for a news story. I make a deal with her to buy time. To unravel her lies. To play with her. To satisfy my darker appetites. When she buckles beneath my belt, I’ll send her away. Unless I buckle first…”

Mister Tonight by Kendall RyanNew Release!!

Standalone: “Last night was the most embarrassing night of my life. I was THAT girl. You know, the highly intoxicated chick celebrating her thirtieth with her two best friends… And the more I drank, the more I wanted to do something reckless to celebrate. By reckless, I meant the sexy and alluring man dressed in a business suit standing near the bar. You know his type—tall, dark, and handsome… He took me home and I enjoyed the hottest birthday sex of my life, well until it came to a screeching, and rather unwelcome halt. There’s nothing quite like being interrupted mid-ride with a little voice asking: “What are you doing to my daddy?”

Just kill me now…… or so I thought. Come to find out the man I rode like a b

Double Down by Alessandra TorreNew Release!!

Finale: “In Vegas, there was one man who was off limits.
One man… and I fell for him.

I just never realized they included death.“

The Perfect Couple by Elin HilderbrandNew Release!!

Standalone: “It’s Nantucket wedding season [and] the Otis-Winbury wedding promises to be an event to remember: the groom’s wealthy parents have spared no expense to host a lavish ceremony at their oceanfront estate.

Rainy Day Friends by Jill ShalvisNew Release!!

Desperate to make a fresh start, she impulsively takes a job at the family-run Capriotti Winery. With no real family of her own, she’s bewildered by how quickly they all take her under their wing and make her feel like she belongs. Especially Mark Capriotti, a gruffly handsome Air Force veteran turned deputy sheriff who manages to wind his way into her cold, broken heart—along with the rest of the clan…”

Vampire’s Faith by Rebecca ZanettiNew Release!!

Can standalone: “Vampire King Ronan Kayrs wasn’t supposed to survive the savage sacrifice he willingly endured to rid the world of the ultimate evil [and] he sure as hell wasn’t supposed to finally touch the woman who’s haunted his dreams for centuries. Yet here he is, in an era where vampires are hidden, the enemy has grown stronger, and his mate has no idea of the power she holds.

Dr. Faith Cooper is flummoxed by irrefutable proof that not only do vampires exist… they’re hot blooded, able to walk in sunlight, and shockingly sexy. She has always depended on science, but the restlessness she feels around this predatory male defies reason. Especially when it grows into a hunger only he can satisfy…”

Almost Impossible by Nicole WilliamsNew Release!!

Standalone: “When she decided to spend the summer with her aunt in California, she thought she knew what she was getting into. But nothing could have prepared her for him. And when he learns she plans to spend her first American summer hiding out reading books, he refuses to be ignored. Sneaking out, staying up, and even a midnight swim, he is determined to give Jade days—and nights—worth remembering… But [she] knows he is hiding a secret—and she’s determined to find out what it is.”

Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLeanNew Release!!

Can standalone: “When a mysterious stranger finds his way into her bedchamber and offers his help in landing a duke, Lady Felicity Faircloth agrees—on one condition. She’s seen enough of the world to believe in passion, and won’t accept a marriage without it.

Bastard son of a duke and king of London’s dark streets, Devil has spent a lifetime wielding power and seizing opportunity, and the spinster wallflower is everything he needs to exact a revenge years in the making… But she’d rather have Devil than another. Soon, Devil’s carefully laid plans are in chaos and he must choose between everything he’s ever wanted… and the only thing he’s ever desired.”

Down Deep: A Station Seventeen Engine Novel by Kimberly KincaidNew Release!!

Can standalone: Ian Gamble has a past he’d rather forget—which is exactly what he’s doing at The Crooked Angel Bar and Grill when the place catches fire. Between his active duty in the Marines and his experience as a firefighter, his instincts get him and hot, headstrong bar manager, Kennedy Matthews, to safety. But those same instincts kick into high gear when the fire is ruled an arson, and he discovers Kennedy’s got secrets of her own.

The only thing that matters more to Kennedy than her bar is her brother. When she finds out he’s in over his head with a dangerous arsonist, she’ll do anything to keep him safe—even if it means teaming up with Gamble, who’s too sharp-eyed and hard-bodied for his own good. With every step, their attraction flares hotter and the risks grow more dangerous…

Love Like Crazy by Magan VernonNew Release!!

Can standalone: Vegas was a trip, and that was an understatement. An understatement I couldn’t remember and that included the brunette in my bed.
That is until my pounding headache had me getting up for a glass of water and I saw the marriage license on the ground.
The words: Clay Carrington and Christy Quinn and holy matrimony staring me in the face.
I came to Vegas to get away, and the bratty owner’s daughter of the ranch wanted to come with. I didn’t even like the boss’s daughter, let alone want to marry her.
I guess things the happened in Vegas had a way of following you home.

Cry Baby by Ginger ScottNew Release!!

Standalone: Tristan Lopez is loyal to his brothers. He doesn’t really have a choice, born into a gang that has a chokehold on every kid that roams its streets. He gave his life to them willingly, knowing if he did then one day this kingdom, led by boys drunk with power and ruled by fear, would all be his.

He was loyal through it all. Loyal when prison took his dad away. Loyal when his face was touched by the cold metal of the rival gang’s gun. Loyal even though his mom begged him to run the moment she returned home from rehab.

He thought about becoming someone else. It was hard not to crave the life of a regular 17-year-old. It’s the only reason he stayed in school—to pretend. But he always fell back in line.

Loyal.

Riley Rojas didn’t belong in Tristan’s real world. She should have only been part of the fantasy, one of the many faces he got to pretend with amidst rows of metal chairs and desks and whiteboards with assignments. But there she was, moving boxes from the back of an old pick-up into a house Tristan had shot up on a dare with his friends only a few months before.

Tall enough to look him in the eyes and strong enough to fill his shadow, Riley took up space on his streets, her loud mouth fearless in the face of the gang leaders who terrified everyone else. She pushed Tristan around on the hard court, and she balled better than his friends—better than him sometimes. She challenged him. She needed him. He liked it. And when her pale blue eyes stared into his, he quit wanting to pretend.

He couldn’t ask her to leave because she’d only dig her heels in deeper. He couldn’t ask because he didn’t want her to go. She was blurring his lines. She was testing his loyalty.

He was falling in love.

And it was going to tear him apart.

DETAILED LIST: NEW RELEASES

A Wish For Us by Tillie ColeNew Release!!

TOP FAVORITE!! Standalone: “A Wish For Us. A story of music. A story of healing.
A story of love conquering all.
— Nineteen-year-old Cromwell Dean is the rising star of electronic dance music. Thousands of people adore him. But no one knows him. No one sees the color of his heart. Until the girl in the purple dress. She sees through the walls he has built to the empty darkness within.

When Cromwell leaves behind the gray skies of England to study music in the South Carolina heat, the last thing he expects is to see her again. And he certainly doesn’t expect that she’ll stay in his head like a song on repeat.

Bonnie Farraday lives for music. She lets every note into her heart, and she doesn’t understand how someone as talented as Cromwell can avoid doing the same. He’s hiding from his past, and she knows it. She tries to stay away from him, but something keeps calling her back.

Bonnie is the burst of color in Cromwell’s darkness. He’s the beat that makes her heart skip.

But when a shadow falls over Bonnie, it’s up to Cromwell to be her light, in the only way he knows how. He must help her find the lost song in her fragile heart. He must keep her strong with a symphony only he can compose.

Captivated by Tessa Bailey & Eve DangerfieldNew Release!!

Blake hates people—and sunlight—with good reason. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself lusting after his upstairs tenant, a sunny, Australian people pleaser down on her luck. Turns out his ability to terrify with a single scowl comes with an advantage. Autumn seems to like it. A lot. As evidenced by the prisoner-captive comic Blake was never meant to see.

As they embark on a three-date arrangement the rules are clear; filthy, ground breaking sex, no feelings or commitment required.”

A Wish For Us.

A story of music.
A story of healing.
A story of love conquering all.

Oh my gosh, this was the most BEAUTIFUL book!! I read it straight through in one sitting and it was AMAZING!! A truly unique and EMOTIONAL LOVE STORY that brought music and colors to life in a way that blew me away. I COULD NOT STOP READING! It was a BEAUTIFUL and HEALING romance. I highly, highly recommend it!

Nineteen-year- old Cromwell Dean is the rising star of electronic dance music.

A symphony of hope.
A symphony of love.
A symphony of them.

Okay now I know that the first question that most of you are going to ask me is whether this book has a happy ending — it was definitely the first question I asked too, so I get it. I’ll post the answer in a spoiler link below:

Spoiler Inside SelectShow
YES!!! Full HEA, and a beautiful happy epilogue!

Cromwell Dean is the epitome of a tormented bad boy hero. Tattoed. Pierced. Famous. Private. Sullen. Sexy. Angry. Talented beyond all reason. He had it all and yet his life felt empty. Something had happened that had taken all the joy out of his life and his music. And it wasn’t until a chance encounter brought Bonnie into his life that any of that began to change.

She went quiet.

I caught her looking at me. Her brown eyes were narrowed, like she was scrutinizing me. Reading something in me that I didn’t want anyone to see.

No one ever looked at me closely. I never gave them the chance. I thrived on the podium at clubs because it kept everyone far away, down on the dance floor where no one ever saw the real me.

They were complete opposites in so many ways, but when a college project paired them together and forced them to co-write music for the semester, their world’s became unchangeably entwined.

It’s not an easy task to describe music with words alone, but Tillie Cole did it wish such beautiful writing that it felt like you could hear and FEEL everything even though there was no real sound at all.

The club pulsed as the beat I was pouring into the crowd took over their bodies. Arms in the air, hips swaying, eyes wide and glazed as my music slammed into their ears, the rhythmic beats controlled their every move. The air was thick and sticky, clothes slick to people’s skins as they crammed into the full club to hear me.

I watched them light up with color. Watched them get lost in the sound. Watched them shed whoever they’d been that day — an office worker, a student, a copper, a call-center worker — what the fell ever. Right now, in this club, they were slaves to my tunes. Right here, in this moment, my music was their life.

Cromwell saw music as colors and saw beauty few other people ever could, and yet his talent was also hiding a pain so raw that it had taken all the heart and soul from his music. Bonnie made it her mission to help him find it again.

He looked like the epitome of arrogate, rolling his tongue ring against his teeth. He was dressed in black jeans that had a chain hanging from the waist, and a simple white shirt with a low neck and tick short sleeves that gripped his muscled biceps. His tattoos climbed like vines up his arms and neck.

Some people would think them art.
I thought they looked like they were strangling him.

It broke my heart to see how desperately he craved that healing but how his demons pushing everyone away from him. He needed her, but couldn’t stand that he needed her.

The thought of working with Bonnie made an uneasy feeling sprout inside me. I didn’t like to feel anything. I was happy numb. But for some reason Bonnie Farraday sparked life back into my dead soul.

They couldn’t have been more opposite. She was sunshine and he was a storm cloud. But they shared a deep love for music and for a while, that was their only connection. Until that connection slowly deepened. The more time they spent together, the more he slowly began to trust her with his deepest secrets and show her his world. But no matter how broken his secrets made him, nothing prepared him for the devastation of hers.

When you’re writing a hero who acts like a bit of a jerk, there’s a delicate balance between forgivable actions and going too far. I also feel it’s really important to give some kind of believable and justifiable reason for their actions. And I really felt like this book did a fantastic job of that. Learning of what Cromwell had been through and what kinds of demons he was fighting, it really made his behavior at the very least understandable. His secrets were deep and crushing and even the best of people can be brought low by that kind of pain.

I had seen to many performances in my lifetime, yet none had compared to the rawness of what I had heard tonight. I followed the fingers dancing like birds on a lake. My eyes tracked up a pair of tattooed arms, over a white sleeveless shirt, over stubble-dark cheeks and silver piercings.

Then they locked on a single teardrop. A falling drop that rolled down the tanned cheek to splash on the ivory keys that were pouring with the sounds of pain and hurt and regret.

My chest was stricken, reacting to the wordless story the music was telling. As I started at Cromwell’s face, it was like seeing it for the first time. Gone was the arrogance and the anger he wore like a shield. The shield was lowered, and a boy I didn’t recognize was laid bare.

I loved the way this author portrayed his character and how she really brought the reader into his world. While this is a duel POV book, in many ways this felt to me like it was Cromwell’s story and when Bonnie came into his life, it was like this saving grace that allowed him to oh so slowly feel again, love again, and connect with his music.

“I saw him kiss you… and I see the way you look at him… And the way he looks at you.”
“How?”
“Like you’re his air. Like you’re the water to whatever hellfire lives inside him.”

Bonnie’s strength and perseverance and the way she saw right through Cromwell’s pain and knew that there was something he was hiding inside that she needed to get to and that she needed to help heal was really beautiful. I loved the way she didn’t give up on him – except that one time briefly, but I think we can all understand why.

“Cromwell doesn’t speak much with his voice, but he screams what he feels with melodies and notes and the change of keys.”

I’m not a big fan of comparing book, in fact I avoid it at all costs as a general rule but I will quietly mention that I do believe that if you were a fan of Beautiful Disaster, then you’ll definitely love this book. It’s not the same story at all, but just something about the feeling of the dynamic between Cromwell and Bonnie reminded me a little of the feeling I had when reading BD all those years ago.

I swear to you I read the second half of this book without stopping to breathe or blink. I was just glued to the page and couldn’t read fast enough. I just devoured the story needing them to be okay.

And omg, THE FEELS!!!!! The letter! The music! Their love! So many feels!

This was a truly beautiful book! I loved it and highly recommend it as a top favorite of the year!

Rating: 4.5+ STARS!! Contemporary NA Romance, can standalone.

I’d never forgotten Thea, even after all these years…

HOLY FREAKING SQUEEEEEEEE!!! This was the ultimate perfect romance novel and easily one of my top favorite recommendations of the year!! Every book Devney Perry has written has been amazing and while I feel like I’ve said this about all her books, I truly mean it every time when I say that this was one of the best books I’ve read all year!! 5 STARS!

Tattered featured an incredibly strong single mom heroine unexpectedly reunited with the sexy but mysterious father of her child more than a decade after their one passionate night together. Watching them share a second chance at falling in love with each other, seeing how the hero tried so hard to be the best dad he could be for the daughter he’d only just found out about, and feeling how strongly the heroine supported her daughter through every new challenge they faced, and all that paired with beautiful writing really made this a truly wonderful read.

And not only was this a beautiful love story filled with heart-warming intensity, but it was also a gorgeous portrayal of motherhood in its purest form. I genuinely loved every single word of this book!

“How are we going to handle this?”
Her eyebrows came together. “Handle what?”
“Us. There’s no way I’m not going to kiss you today. I’m wondering if you want me to hide it from her. Or if you’re okay with her knowing that her dad is crazy about her mom.”

So to give a little bit more background, the real story began six years before the main story when Thea met Logan one night at a bar. At the time, she was a broke bartender living paycheck to paycheck, while he was a high-powered businessman from a wealthy family. They came from different worlds, walked in different circled, and yet they connected to each other with an intensity neither one of them could deny. But after sharing one passionate night together, they both agreed to go their separate ways without so much as knowing each other’s last names. And no matter how many times they tried to find each other again, it wasn’t until nearly half a decade later when fate brought them back together… and this time, Thea had someone new to introduce to Logan — his daughter, Charlie.

I’m a dad.
A father.
I couldn’t get the concept to sink in.
Did other fathers feel this whiplashed? Or dumbfounded? Maybe other men got used to the concept of fatherhood during pregnancy. They had time to adjust to the fact that a kid was coming. But I hadn’t gotten nine months. I’d gotten ninety seconds for all the puzzle pieces to fit together.
I had a child.
I had a daughter who was five, almost six, and had my crooked pinky.

OMGGG — exciting little side note. So while this book can be read as a complete standalone (it even has a beautiful epilogue!!), if you happen to be a big Devney Perry book fan, then you might recognize this hero as one of the side characters from The Clover Chapel (my review). I’m so so glad that he got to find his own HEA!

Ok, back to this book. I think my favorite part about this book was how mature both Logan and Thea were. They both made mistakes throughout the course of the book — all people do in life, after all — but they always had the best of intensions and their hearts were always in the right place so while some of their actions may have been misguided, they always came from a good place and I really admired how well they both (individually and together) handled every situation that came their way.

“You’re sure she’s mine?”
“She’s yours.”
“Then that’s good enough.”

It was heart-meltingly adorable beyond all reason to see how completely and wholeheartedly Logan embraced his role as Charlie’s dad. It was of course a shock to him at first, but even though he’d only just learned about her existence, he immediately welcomed her into his heart without any doubt or question.

“You’re nervous.”
“Terrified.” I nodded. “I have no idea what to say. Do I introduce myself as her dad? Or just Logan? Should I shake her hand? Or give her a hug? And that’s just the first give seconds we meet. What do I do after that? If I fuck this up, she’ll remember it forever.”

However, no matter how much Logan and Thea wanted to make everything work between them, the same things that had separated them that night they’d first met were still hurdles they had to face now. They still came from different worlds and wanted to live in different cities and neither one of them wanted to leave their lives behind, but they both wanted to be near Charlie.

My fears were getting the best of me. Every minute that passed without a call from him, I got more and more scared.
What if he wanted [our daughter]? What if he forced me to split custody? What if he demanded she live in New York?
I couldn’t go back to the city, not after I’d escape. Not after I’d come here and found the peace I’d craved my entire life.
But the bottom line was, I couldn’t live without my daughter.

Now this leads me to possibly my favorite thing about this book which was how amazing a mother Thea was. When Charlie first had misgivings about Logan, she never once tried to force the issue, and was so understanding that it truly melted my heart. And I loved the way she never tried to make Charlie conform to a life she didn’t want. She celebrated her wildness and encouraged her daughter to be strong and independent.

Her precious smile lit up her face.
Logan had asked me what I wanted last night. It was simple: a happy child.
I loved that Charlie was wild. I love that she ran free. New York and Logan’s family might kiss her tamped spirit. I couldn’t risk her suffocating here.
So I was taking her home.

Devney Perry is one of the best and most talented contemporary romance writers I’ve ever read. Her writing is addictive, her stories are addictive and full of heart, and every book she writes has become an instant favorite!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE!! Whether you’re a romance reader or not, this is a timeless story of love and family that is sure to appeal to the hearts of every reader out there!

Rating: 5 STARS!!! Contemporary Adult Romance, can standalone.

She laughed and kissed him. This morning she’d melted down. But somehow this man had her laughing and turned on only a few hours later. Everything inside her felt buoyed.

She felt…light.

She’d forgotten what that felt like.

SQUEEEEEEE!!!! YES YES YES!! This book was AMAZING! It’s actually the second one I’ve read by this author and I have to say I LOVE HER WRITING STYLE!!! The characters were STRONG, the romance was HOT, the story was so well balanced between HEART-WARMING, EMOTIONAL, and INTENSE feels, and I think the most important thing was that it truly made me CARE!!!

As a hardened divorce lawyer, Rebecca spent her life coaching people through the (often devastating) end of their love stories. To say she had little faith left in romance or true love would be an understatement.

Wes’ life had completely fallen apart. After an ugly divorce, he’d lost his dream job and restaurant, his wife, his money, and everything else that he held dear and he was spending his time teaching at risk kids how to cook.

Their lives were unexpectedly thrown together one night when he came to her rescue as two men mugged her. He didn’t recognize her at first, but she knew him as soon as she heard his name. Because not long ago, she was the lawyer who helped his ex-wife ruin him.

Shaken by the mugging and grateful for the kindness he was showing her, she didn’t want to sully the night by reminding him of who she was, besides, she had him painted as the villain — after all, she’d heard what his ex had said about him. But the man he was showing her he was wasn’t anything like what she expected. He took care of her the entire night, kept her safe, protected her, and stayed by her side.

And when the truth of who she was came out, he had to decide if he could fall in love with the woman who’d once destroyed his life. And had to open her mind to the possibility than maybe he wasn’t the man she thought he was and to allow him to show her who he really was.

OH MY GOSH, you guys!!!! THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!

This is one of those books that is just so purely well written that you can tell it’s a winner from the start. There’s no fluff or fuss. It has exactly all the right measures of everything it needs to make it a wonderful story. It was engaging and the truly stellar writing drew me completely into the story.

It’s funny but I was actually really torn on what book to read tonight. I had two top choices and couldn’t decide between them so I told myself that I’d read the first chapter of both and see what suited my mood more. Well… I got just a few pages into this book and immediately knew I’d be finishing it.

On every page, I felt totally engaged with and immersed in the story. I genuinely cared for these characters, I was intrigued by their history, I swooned over their romance, my heart-broke from their pain, and I was rooting for them to find a way to make a relationship work.

I really felt like this was a very well-rounded book. The steamy and swoony romance was balanced out by intense, heart-wrenching emotions from both Rebecca and Wes’ pasts and some current situations they were dealing with both separately and together. And finally my favorite part was that there was a deeply healing story arc that really gave this book that extra wow-factor that would make it a Top Favorite of the year for me.

You can read this book as a complete standalone if you want. It is however the second standalone in a series of interconnected standalones. I read the first one (see below) earlier this year and absolutely loved it as well so I’d definitely recommend both or either one of the books.

  • The One You Can’t Forget
  • was sweet, swoony, romantic, and full of feels. It was both heart-warming and heart-wrenching in just the right balance. In every way, this story checked all the right boxes for me. This is my second Roni Loren favorite in 2018 and it has definitely cemented her as one of my favorite authors whose next book I’m eagerly looking forward to!

(Sorry I don’t have quotes in this review because I wrote this review super fast after I finished reading. I’ll go back and add them in eventually.)

Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. He can’t afford to turn down her offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan—from foreplay to more-than-missionary position…

Before long, she not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he’s making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince her that love is the best kind of logic…”

**** NEW LIST JUST POSTED *****

NEW FAVORITE – NOW LIVE: I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting (My Review)
WOOHOOOOOO!!!! It’s finally live! I read this romantic comedy that’s described as “a love story about flipping houses, taking risks, and landing that special someone who’s move-in ready” in one sitting and it was so fun!! The hero and heroine were complete opposites — the hero was sweet, swoony, and a little cocky, while the heroine was smart and sassy! While most of the book was filled with light-hearted fun flirty banter and romance, I also really liked that towards the end, it developed a bit of an angsty edge… This was a GREAT READ and it you’re looking for a romance that’ll make you smile, definitely grab your copy because it’s JUST WENT LIVE!! Oh, and it can totally standalone!

A whole bunch more new releases for this week are now live too such as Stay With Me by Kristen Proby (neighbors in love), Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen (he falls for his rival’s little sister), The Wright One by K.A. Linde (conclusion to the Wright Love Duet), Making Up by Lucy Parker (sexy enemies to lovers romance), All Night Long by J. Kenner (he’s trying to win an election but falls in love), Screwed by Kelly Jamieson (he falls for his best friend’s ex-wife), and lots more more listed below! Then later this week, we get Part-time Lover by Lauren Blakely (light-hearted marriage of convenience romance), and Mogul by Katy Evans (sexy romance with mysterious hero) as well!

    RARE SALE ALERT:

    • The Hating Game: A Novel by Sally Thorne just went on sale for $1.99 (reg. $9.99)! It’s a standalone “hilarious and sexy workplace comedy all about that thin, fine line between hate and love.” — Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude. Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.”
