We visited Chamonix for the first time in 2017, thinking it would be once in a lifetime trip, but instead got absolutely hooked and have been back each year since. The goal has been to make each subsequent trip a little more efficient and a bit scrappier to save money and maximize adventure.

The start of each year and with the change of each season we look to what’s ahead and decide what to go after. More than once we’ve started the conversation of “I don’t think I’ll do a race this year,” instead plan on seeking endurance adventures. Pivoting away from racing has proven easier said than done in the last 5 years that we’ve been in Colorado since racing brings so much for our lifestyle.

The Rim to Rim to Rim (R2R2R) is an adventure that has been sitting patiently on our bucket list for quite some time. Following a huge season of training and racing we thought this might be the year to keep up our fitness into the fall and head to the Grand Canyon for a smash and grab trip.
