Good morning and happy Thursday! I have wild dreams of pulling off a short suit – I may need to satisfy the urge with a more wallet-friendly version (like here). Love this collection of neutrals! Thanks for stopping by and hope you’re having a great week!

We are so excited for our Summer travels over the next few months: Maui for a wedding, Portland and San Diego to see family, maybe a weekender in Napa to round it out. I recently picked up some dresses at Banana Republic that are perfect for all that travel (and for our warm summer days at home!).
The camel dress is the ideal length and the button details remind me of a trench coat (you know how much I love trench coats!). The straps are beautiful but I love having something around my shoulders in case a breeze comes through (I get cold easily!). Going tone on tone with the knit feels fresh and modern. The olive shirtdress is a classic – it’s perfect as a coverup for a poolside lunch or for exploring around town. And I paired it with the same blazer I’ve been wearing on repeat for the last few months.
Thank you so much for stopping by and thank you Banana Republic for partnering with me on this post!

What a weekend! It reached 90 degrees on Sunday so there was only one thing on our schedule: a water balloon fight! A rare treat (and these make it so easy – remember the days when we used to have to tie each one off individually?!).
Warmer weather means that crisp cotton blouses are going to be on heavy rotation. This tunic version is perfect for slim pants. It’s part of the M.M. Casual collection by one of my longtime favorites.
The perfect white dress has found its way into my closet! When I first hold/touch/see a garment, it’s always the fabric that I pay attention to: is it substantial, does it drape nicely, does it wrinkle right away? This one feels so much more expensive than it is – that’s a promise. Perfect for soon-to-be-brides, summer getaways, or just a go-to summer dress. I’m wearing mine with a drapey blazer but it’ll be equally perfect with a straw hat and sandals for warmer weather.
Happy Friday! We are about to experience the warmest weekend we’ve had yet and I CAN NOT WAIT.
One of my go-to places for minimal staples (for less!). Here are a few of my favorites right now:

Good morning! A special appearance today by my husband (the one who is typically behind the camera taking my photos) in celebration of Father’s Day next weekend. I partnered with Peter Millar to find him the perfect summer outfit (thank goodness he’s not in flip flops – he loves his new deck shoes which is a win for me too!). Nothing feels more like summer than a crisp linen shirt, sharp pair of shorts and a beautiful watch (environmentally sustainable too – no animal products, no precious materials or metals, responsible production and minimalist packaging. the band is made of alcantara!).
We were so happy with the new finds we promptly placed another order (for these shorts!). The pieces are perfect for all of our summer occasions: a day trip to Napa for wine tasting and lunch, our upcoming summer trip to Maui, BBQs at our friends house… It’s a luxe (but sporty) new update – for a guy who doesn’t buy clothes for himself regularly this was a special treat and a great new discovery.
You don’t often see him on the blog or in my social (this I do to respect his desire for privacy), and I don’t often mention the role he plays in our family life. Suffice it to say: it’s because of him that I haven’t done laundry for 12 years (thanks honey!), it’s because of him that we have our house in order (i.e. clean and organized) at all times, and it’s because of him that we are constantly laughing together as a family. That, and he fully shares all Lucia-related duties with me, in addition to working his own full-time job. To my husband: we love you!!!
And thank you Peter Millar for partnering with me on this post!

What a weekend! So happy when our weekends are filled with friends, family and get togethers! Back to work today and ready to tackle the to-do list.
I did not hesitate when I saw this blazer online. The color and the fancy satin fabric are perfect for dressing up denim (in this case a similar shade of ecru). I’ll wear it over dresses for summer evenings too.
Happy Monday! Thanks for stopping by!

Quite possibly my two biggest shopping mantras, which have held true for me over the last ten years, is to
invest in quality and
find savings on those quality items whenever possible.
Every day I feel more and more convinced of the first mantra. That over time I’m working to build a closet of classics my future 70-year old self will (hopefully) still love and enjoy. In other words, I really hope to be *that* cute grandma who wears her vintage tweed jacket and has her 40 year old leather bag on her arm.
And when it comes to the second mantra, well, that’s just second nature to me. I am a hunter by nature and don’t mind scouring racks or going through long pages of listings. I’ll wait patiently to find the right item at the right price if it means that I’ve saved by doing so.
With that second mantra in mind, today I’m working with my longtime partner, eBay, to share more about their eBay Authenticate program.
eBay Authenticate is designed to help you shop luxury items with confidence. Items that bear the “Authenticity verified” indicator (that blue checkmark!) have been seriously vetted by industry experts to be authentic and they are covered by eBay’s money back guarantee. It is a huge relief to be able to shop this way, and in fact I’ve made it my habit to filter and view only items with the Authenticity Verified checkmark.
eBay Authenticate covers luxury watches (I have my eye on one like this one!), jewelry, handbags (here’s one like my vintage Kelly bag I’m wearing) and wallets. And I was able to find this sold-out-everywhere Chanel zip pouch recently (brand new with tags!) for less than retail. Score!
Let’s fast-forward to me in my 70s, standing in front of my dream closet of classics. Here’s what I would hope to see in there:
The countdown is on: Lucia is about to finish kindergarten (ahhh!), we’re several weeks away from our summer getaway (Hawaii for a friend’s wedding!), and we’re about to come up on our *actual* 10 year wedding anniversary. So much to be excited and thankful for!
There have been so many sales that have started and so many amazing designer finds. I always say this but it’s true: now is the best time to score designer shoes. Here are some of my favorite finds so far:
these suede mule kitten heels. I already own far too many black heels so I would personally go for the blush suede, but if you’ve been searching for the perfect pair of work-appropriate heels, this would be one of my top picks! A similar style in blush leather here.
if block heels are your thing, these are perfect. I love a slingback pump and these would go with pretty much everything. A similar style in navy suede here.
I’ve been crazy about beige/ivory and these heels have me so, so tempted. There are still a few sizes left!
Speaking of beige, I own these loafers in black and they are BEYOND comfortable. The hardware is reversible from gold to silver!
Three things that always, always give me that jolt of confidence for the day:
Lipstick – it’s the last thing I “put” on in terms of accessories or make-up and it always perks me up!
A calming technique or exercise – deep breathing exercises, even if only for 30 seconds, are so powerful. It wipes away lingering doubts and worries and helps me start fresh. I recently got the Calm Mind Kit for Lucia and we use it together as a family.
A blazer! For years on this blog I’ve always said “just throw a blazer on it!” and it’s completely 100% true.
On the hunt for my next confidence-building blazer, I turned to Betsy at Trunk Club (my longtime stylist there!), and asked her to put together a trunk of her favorite blazers of the season. As always, she includes so many amazing finds but I absolutely fell in love with this one: the color, texture, and fit were perfect.
Feminine but not girly. Boss but approachable. Luxe but not so precious that you fuss over it all day.
Exactly the jolt of confidence I needed – feeling great in my new blazer and the process with Betsy is always such a pleasure. Effortless and fun. Try Trunk Club here.
