My name is Jamie. I'm a 4"11' 26-year-old living in Atlanta, Georgia. I blog mostly about my style, makeup, and life. I believe in colorful, fun fashion and finding ways to make trends work on my short frame.
Here I am wearing a concert t-shirt again. At this point I'm not sure I'll ever stop wearing them. Maybe when I'm 70 I won't wear them with bright pink tights and white wedge Converse, but really, who knows? Maybe we'll all be dressing like Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century by then. (I can only hope.) And if I really take a look at this outfit, all I need is a colorful vest and I may as well have come off the space station. They really liked vests in that movie. I guess they don't need sleeves when everything's climate controlled?
It is, however, not climate controlled outside in Atlanta. These pictures are from a couple months ago but it still hasn't reliably warmed up here yet. Also, my hair is now completely different since I had it chopped off again into an asymmetrical pixie a couple weeks ago. If you haven't seen it, check out my Instagram page!
Happy almost Valentine's Day to you! In honor of the day of "wuv" I broke out a couple of old favorites to wear: this red peter pan collar dress from Modcloth and some heart print sweater tights from Forever 21. This dress, although cute, has seen better days. Something about the fabric makes it super easy to pill up so that's happening all over the place. It's sad because it's a really cute dress and comfortable too. I'm afraid it might need to be retired soon - but not until I try some remedies to reduce the pilling.
The highlight of this look is my super cool food-themed pins. I actually wore this last Friday on National Pizza Day, hence the pizza pin. Also it was Friday - hence the fries. The fries pin was lovingly bestowed upon me by a new coworker and is a very welcome addition to my increasing quirky pin collection.
My other accessories are thrifted. A belt thrifted long ago that I wear practically bi-weekly and a pair of loafer heels I got from Goodwill on my last trip up to Illinois. I know thrifting shoes is weird for some people but these were probably worn once and seemed like they'd be so versatile. I found out they're also really comfy which is always a big plus.
So what are you doing, if anything, for Valentine's Day? It's my first married one and we're staying in. We'll be making some tasty food together after work. My husband even brought home flowers already! He's pretty great.
Anyway, thank you for stopping by and be sure to follow along on Instagram and/or Twitter!
Since it's been cold out there and I'm pretty over it, I figured it would be a good time to dive back to last summer and share an outfit I was too busy to share then.
These pictures were taken during our brief stay in Napa last August which was a pretty awesome couple of days. The weather was fantastic and I was able to wear this feather print romper I picked up on Amazon for the first time. It was the perfect flowy silhouette for a summer day spent at wineries and bopping around town. The only negative about it is the wrap v-neck which definitely has to be pinned shut to avoid being the flasher about town.
Have you had any luck with shopping for clothes on Amazon? They have everything on there. I think my favorite fashion-related Amazon buy so far is a pair of brown fringe sandals I got for like $10 that are really comfortable.
On a different note, how's your January going so far? It's usually a pretty dull month, I think. I don't do the usual dieting resolutions like so many others do but I do have a goal to read much more often and update this blog more regularly. I'm looking forward to attending lots of weddings and doing a little traveling this year too. Here's hoping it's a good year ahead of us!
If you're still hanging around here and noticed my absence, I blame it on the fact that the entire month of November was wedding and honeymoon mania for me. I'm alive and well (and working on a billion thank you cards.) I've been keeping my Instagram page pretty up-to-date though, so please check that out if you haven't had a chance. I just wanted to share a few wedding pictures with you on the ol' blog and let you know I'm still here!
To give credit where credit is due, my wedding photos were by awesome local photographers Garter + Whiskey. They did an amazing job capturing our big day in Athens, GA.
If you're at all interested, I can share some more pictures with you - maybe some details of the day. But let me know if that would bore you. You'll probably catch a few on my Instagram page throughout the next few months anyway!
I can't stop looking through our pictures though and I'm anticipating our wedding video too. The day wasn't 100% perfect (my veil fell off when I got to the end of the aisle; it was unexpectedly cold outside) but it was a ton of fun. I loved having so many friends and family members in one place and was happy a ton of people stayed the whole time to dance and party. Matt and I also wrote our own vows so I'd been really looking forward to finally hearing Matt's. They were as perfect as I could have imagined. Also, we looked just about the best we could possibly look that day!
A little about our wedding outfits: Matt's suit was rented from The Black Tux, which I highly recommend. The bow tie is his own by The Tie Bar. My trumpet style, off-the-shoulder lace dress is by Pronovias and was tailored just perfectly. My shoes, which I can show you later, are Irregular Choice. Then I changed into wedge Converse half-way through the reception. My silk flower bouquet is handmade by my mom and now it's sitting in my apartment because it'll live forever!
As always, thanks for sticking around. I'll be back here with an actual outfit post soon! Please let me know what you'd like to see here in the year ahead since I'm done wedding planning and can have a life again. Happy Tuesday!
Red and blue is probably my favorite color combination to wear - especially in the summertime. (Have I said that here before? Probably 10,000 times by now.) And sometimes I like to be as matchy-matchy as possible, which is where this outfit came from. I wore this about a month ago but it's still warm enough to wear it here in Georgia!
Some outfit details: My mini skirt is an old old thrift find that Mom hemmed for me long ago. I need to wear it more often but it's a bit too short for the workplace! The top was a cheapo crop top I probably bought on clearance and my shoes are my new favorites from Target. I should've gotten them in all the colors but figured I'd get plenty of use out of navy blue - my favorite "non neutral neutral."
skirt: thrifted | top: forever 21 | shoes: target | necklace: new york & company
I wish I had time to blog more often but time is limited when you're planning a wedding and it's less than 2 months away! I'm very excited to get married and for the wedding to happen, but whoever decided wedding planning was some fun thing is insane. I guess if I didn't work and had plenty of time to browse through Pinterest and gather ideas and daydream about everything it would be a nicer process. Unfortunately it's more like spreadsheets, putting lots of calendar reminders in my phone, writing checks, and making decisions without knowing for sure they'll be the right ones. Then I feel sad that I'm not enjoying the planning because I'm "supposed to" and I'll only get to do this once.
Plus on top of the wedding planning, our honeymoon is ruined because of the hurricanes. We were supposed to go to Puerto Rico, which took a ton of time to decide on in the first place, and now we have to scramble to find something else 50ish days out. It's awful seeing what happened to Puerto Rico. I really hope the island can recover quicker than the 4 - 6 months I keep hearing just to get electricity restored. The world is crazy right now. And life is too.
But you can see all that on Instagram if you're interested and I look forward to giving you another update (and outfit) in the next week or two!
