Oh man, it has been a hot minute since I have reviewed a drugstore foundation here and when I was sent this package from L'oreal I was super excited. The last foundation (L'Oreal Pro Glow Foundation) I tried from them, I loved so my expectations for them was high this time around! Everyone, meet the L'Oreal Infallible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation.

The claims for this foundation is that it provides up to 24 hours of fresh wearing foundation with a medium to full coverage. This is said to help resist sweat, water and transfer. What I appreciate is that this product goes on like water (see swatches below) - only a thin layer of foundation was needed to help color the discolouration or unevenness in my skin-tone. It is ultra buildable too so full coverage can easily be attained with another light layer which goes on effortlessly as well, theres no cakey look. This foundation comes in 30 shades.

The pump bottle is a HUGE bonus - I needed only 2 pumps to to cover my entire face.
Next, L'Oreal also released their brand new concealer called the Infallible Full Wear Concealer which comes in 24 shades. For those of you who want the Tarte Shape Tape concealer in Canada but can't get it because it's only in the US (unless you purchase online), look no further than this. This is the more budget friendly alternative and it works just the same. It comes with a large doe foot applicator and provides an ultra pigmented and full coverage finish. I only need one application (no need to re-dip the wand) to cover my panda eye circles, and other discoloration under my nose, tzone and jaw.  It is not greasy, it dries down to a matte finish that doesn't look too dry. It feels comfortable and doesn't crease, I didn't need to set it (or bake) and it didn't move around.

Below images starting from left to right: Bare Face, only foundation on the face (shade 430), and the last two photos are with the foundation and concealer (mix of shade 360 and 365) together.
As you can see, the finish looks really nice, this was created with one layer so it is a medium coverage. I love it so much! These two are definite recommends and must purchase items!

Until next time, XO - M.

Brand new to Caudalie is an intense moisturizing cream formulated from antioxidant-rich grapes - introducing the Vinosource SOS Deep Hydration Moisturizer. It retails for $51 Canadian and contains 50ml in a jar. As with all their products, the main ingredient is Grape - and this contains Grape Water to hydrate and soothe, Grape Seed Polyphenols for antioxidant protection and Squalane for its nurturing properties.

This product is suitable for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin. It is important to known that this is vegan, cruelty and gluten-free and also is packaged in recyclable packaging. 1% of all purchases of this product is donated to a good cause for the planet - planting trees.

If you take a look at the photos below, you will see that the consistency of the moisturizer looks thick and luxurious, but when applied to the skin it melts immediately to the face and it leaves it feeling so plump with moisture, hydrated and refreshed. You know how after you go for a facial, you just glow and your skin looks like you drank 10 bottles of water and has that plumpness to it? This is what I got from using this product. No joke.I have been getting compliments on my skin and I believe that this was a large contributing factor. This is also suitable for use in the summer time and is not too heavy at all. Throughout the day, or even before application of this moisturizer, I like to pair it with their Grape Water (featured below).

Caudalie's Grape Water is a cult favorite - it is what started it all, in my opinion. It contains a 100% organic formula that is suitable for all skin types and contains grape essence extracted directly from grapes in Bordeaux, France. It also contains polysaccharides, mineral salts and potassium and helps with hydration, and reduces sensitivities like redness, rosacea and rashes. You can apply this as part of your skin care routine, to set your makeup or even as a mid-day refresher. I personally like to keep this in the fridge so that in the hot summer weather, I can mist this on my face and it cools me down while giving me the skincare benefits.

These two products are a definite recommend!

Until next time, XO -M

For those of you who know me personally, will know that I am a nail polish lover - I switch my polish weekly, if not maybe twice a week and I am always on the hunt for new colors, or products. When I was set the above kit from Suncoat for review, I was really intrigued by a plant-based natural product that was created by a female chemist that is also Canadian!

To be honest, I had never heard of this brand before so I read more about it on their website and included some information about the brand for you below, if you're new to them as well!

"Suncoat first entered the beauty market in 2002 when our founder and chemist Yingchun Liu, Ying for short, whose background includes both polymer chemistry and organic chemistry, found herself in a predicament: her seven year-old daughter wanted to experiment with nail polish. Yet Ying felt the bevy of hazardous chemicals in nail polish, which includes formaldehyde, toluene and acetates, posed too great a risk to her health. So taking to task her expertise in chemistry as well as her artistic eye for creativity, Ying created a revolutionary new formula of water-based, non-toxic nail polish, designed to provide the same quality and finish as the conventional stuff, but without any unsafe chemicals.
On a roll, Ying certainly didn’t stop with nail polishes, expanding Suncoat to include a collection of award-winning formulations for face, eye, lips and even hair, all born from the ideal combination of technology and efficacious natural ingredients. The model forms the heart of the Suncoat brand, to operate with a firm commitment to producing innovative, high-quality products from the best ingredients nature has to offer while maintaining the highest environmental integrity."
Their Mission:
"Suncoat is the pioneer in non-toxic nail polish, blazing the trail of natural beauty, fusing nature with technology to create innovative products founded on the balance of vegan, mineral-based ingredients and water, one of the principal components of our bodies. By putting nature back into nail polish, we’re motivating people to do the same in other aspects of their lives, thus inspiring a little more harmony back into the world."

My two favorite shades sent to me are: Left - / Right -
The polishes itself come in a wide assortment of beautiful shades and finishes, just like regular polish - but the application of the polish itself is a bit tricky. You have to be really patient and accept that the first layer will always be streaky, and that the second layer will fix everything up. Patience is definitely the key here to achieve a smooth coat.

To remove the polishes, you actually have to use their in-house branded products as they are formulated specifically for the polishes. I have always promised my readers that I am giving honest reviews, so here it is - unfortunately didn't have much luck with the gel formula, it really didn't rub off and "melt/dissolve" the polish as it suggests it would. The one benefit though of the gel packaging is that it comes with a cuticle balm to help condition the nail beds. That product itself was fantastic, but I didn't quite understand the mirror on the lid. You wouldn't really need it to look at your nails, or your face? so not too sure what that was for. It's cute, but doesn't really serve a purpose.

I therefore tried the pump liquid formula and had much better success. I was told that alternatively, I could soak my hands in warm water to peel off the polish that was formulated to be peel-able. Be forewarned though that both the remover products have quite a strong scent to them (not your typical acetone scent at all). This polish is made with corn starch fermentation and has vitamin E in it. It can be used to remove all types of polishes and is biodegradable and vegan. It has a oil-like texture to it so your fingernails and cuticles stay hydrated.

Overall, I think that this product is perfect for those who really care about using a natural product on the nails that is safe and free of harsh chemicals. If you are one of those individuals, and have sensitive nails - then this is definitely for you. I will definitely be sharing this entire set to my vegan friend.

Until next time, XO - M

Cake has graciously sent some haircare products my way to help me address my hair woes - my flat...lifeless and lack of volume postpartum hair. For those of you who have been following my blog, you'll know that the journey I have with my hair is still an on-going battle. I am constantly on the search for a product that will work for me and help me achieve some oompf and vavavoom factor.

If you're interested in my thoughts on the products that I have tried out, then keep on reading below!

This shampoo is said to both plump and thicken your hair to give you volume, while helping fortify the hair strands themselves to strengthen them from any potential breakage. For example, since I balayage my hair and heat style it, it is drier and prone to split ends and breakage. I liked how hydrating this shampoo was and how it made my hair feel really clean without that stripping sensation and it didn't add any extra gunk or weight to my hair.

This conditioner is made with natural ingredients and pairs with the shampoo to also hydrate and fortify the hair strands. It does what it needs to do to moisturize my hair but if I had to pick, my favorite of the pair would have to be the shampoo.

While the shampoo and conditioner helps to give my hair some initial volume, if I want that extra boost, I like to top it off with some extra product. The Thick Trick Styling Foam is a mousse like formulation that contains natural extracts and styling polymers to add oompf to your hair strands. I appreciate that it is not sticky or stiff and just gives me volume. Once I blow dry my hair, I am totally unaware that I have just used a styling product on top, which is quite rare for alot of similar products which make me feel sticky, or heavy.

This was a product that I used like a leave-in-conditioner. You use this after you're done showering, and you apply it to your damp hair to help moisturize it. Also you can use it mid-day to refresh your hair if you feel like you want some volume or even I found it is great to help deodorize your hair (like if there is the smell of cigarette smoke in your hair, or if you have the smell of grease or food in your hair from going to a restaurant).

For those of you who want that glossy and shiny hair, this would be the one for you - dispense 1-2 pumps on the palm of your hand and work it to the ends of your dried hair. It helps to restore moisture, smooth it out, and is not sticky or heavy. This is also said to help you revive your second-day locks (that I cannot attest to as I always like to tie my hair up on the second day), but everything else I do agree with.

Of all the products that were sent to me, my favorite would have to be the shampoo, styling foam and the mane mange-r! The one last thing that is important to bring up is that their products are cruelty free and vegan! I'd love to know what you're interested to try!

Until next time, XO - M.

The warmer weather is here, and so are the shorts, the t-shirts and the sandals. Wearing sandals means having an extra set of nails to show off some gorgeous colors, and well if you like either neutrals, bolds or berries and reds - I think the Summer 2019 Barefoot Collection is perfect for you. There is literally a shade for everyone!

If you are a follower of my blog, you will know by now that Zoya makes some of my favorite nail polishes, their formulations are A+ and I am such a big fan - you can see my past posts here.

This collection has 12 polishes total and has a range of creams, satin shimmer finishes as well as glitters and a chunky glitter top coat. All swatches below are done with two coats but please note that most of their cream finishes can pass with one coat.

From Left to Right:
1. Joey - warm light pastel pink (cream)
2. Tessa - a salmon pink tone with micro gold and coral shimmers
3. Keira - champagne sandy taupe shade with fine copper shimmer
4. Marcy - bright hot red coral shimmer
5. Liza - a deep rich red (cream)
6. Robbie - raspberry pink with golden flecks inside - one coat is a bit sheer like a jelly donut finish, two makes it fully opaque.

From Left to Right:
7. Dacey - hot pink (cream)
8. Rie - grape purple (cream)
9. Walker - deep ocean blue (cream)
10. Eleni -  seafoam pastel baby blue (cream)
11. Bee -  pastel yellow (cream)
12. Dallas - clear polish with silver and white glitter, with larger white hexagon-shaped glitter

Which shades are your favorite? Mine has to be Eleni, Dacey, Bee and Keira.

Until next time, XO -M.

And L'Oreal does it again! They have created a new collection of mini palettes, there are 6 palettes total, and wow am I impressed! I was fortunate enough to be sent four of them to try and test out for you guys! If you're interested in looking at the rest of the colors in the La Petite Palette collection, then click here

These palettes are small, compact and ultra portable to pack in your make-up bag to take on the go with you. They are very soft and creamy, especially the satin metallic formulations. They are said to last for 12 hours (which I cannot attest to because I usually just keep my makeup on for about 8 hours, which I must say it did last that long!). They contain 4 everyday shades in one palette that work together for a cohesive look and one statement color for when you want to add a pop of color to your look.

I have all four palettes for you swatched below on my arm - one swipe, no primer so you can get the effect of how it looks.

Below, I used the "Stylist" Palette to create the look for you, as you can see the blue makes for a beautiful pop of color on the lids and this was created without any base or primer. I am honestly loving how the drugstore is totally upping their game in terms of formulations and color pay-off.

One thing to note is just how beginner friendly these palettes are with how they are laid out, in terms of color coordination and how it is presented to the consumer, there would be no way to mess up or stress that the colors don't work well together! This is a definite recommend for purchase and especially at a drugstore price point of around $12 cad each.

Which palette above is your favorite? I would love to hear from you!

Until next time, XO - M.

When I was younger, I could get away with not having to do my brows and still looked put together, however as the years go by and I lose that density in my brows, I have come to learn that the brows really do frame the face. In the picture below, on the left you can see my brows... bare, naked with nothing on it. I do have a full face of makeup on (minus lipstick), but you can see that it just looks thin, sparse and uneven. On the right, I filled my brows in with the Benefit Cosmetics - Goof Proof Brow Pencil in shade 4.5 to help fill in the thin parts on my brow and to just finish up the face.

The reason I go for the Goof Proof Brow Pencil is because it has a triangle applicator pencil - you can use the tip to create fine lines (as you can see in the swatch photo below), or you can use it flat to just fill out the larger areas. The formulation of the pencil is stiff, yet it evenly dispenses product and helps to give off a realistic look to the brows.

Benefit Cosmetics truly are the brow guru's! If you are looking for something to help your brows look more put together, you will for sure find something that will suit you from Benefit. They have powders, pomade/gel's, thin pencils and the one I'm using now. So yes, definitely something for everyone's comfort zone

Also, To help highlight the brow bone, I used the Luminous Brow Highlighting Pencil right below the arch on the brow bone. As you can see, it helps to highlight that area for a more lifted look. I run the pencil right in that area and just blend it out with my finger.

Until next time, XO - M.

If you are looking to get some major volume in your hair, then the Dream Big Volume collection from Marc Anthony True Professionals is for you. If you have been a follower of my blog, you will know that I have always had thin hair, and being postpartum and suffering hair loss while already having thin hair to begin with, you can imagine my dilemma.

When I was sent this collection recently, I immediately incorporated it into my shower routine. I have used this enough times to be able to give a fair review I believe, so if you're interested in reading my thoughts then keep on reading below!

This collection features six different hair products:
This Shampoo helps my hair to feel clean, all the gunk and grease build-up and oils are gone without feeling stripped and dry. The formulation includes the Microfiber Bonding Technology that wraps around each strand of hair to help it build volume without weighing it down.

Like the shampoo, it contains the same Microfiber technology to help thicken the hair strands and strengthen it. I found this to effectively hydrate the ends of my hair, even though I have balayaged it so it is prone to be dry. This helps to detangle it in the shower and I need about a loonie sized for my mid-length hair.

If you are looking for something that can give you some instant oompf, I would say this is it! This product has a pump top that gently mists and poofs the product to where you want to apply it without the need of aerosol. I like to keep this around with me because my hair becomes so blah and flat mid-afternoon. I can instantly just lift sections of my hair and apply it to the roots and fluff it up a bit to work it into the scalp and hair. Be sparing when you use this though as the name suggests, it is used to volumize so the powder adds alot of texture to the hair to hold the volume. If you use too much, it has that gritty like texture that makes my fine hair a bit harder to style since it is fixed in that position. This product is said to last 24 hours which I do agree. I like to use this on second day hair too so I can put my hair up in a messy bun.

This foam is like a airy mousse texture. It is the ultimate multi-tasker! It acts as a treatment for your hair, a styler, volumizer, while helping to strengthen, condition and smooth out your hair. It nourishes the strands of your hair while detangling it. It doesn't leave your hair feeling sticky and it doesn't affect the drying time at all.

When you are drying  your hair, to add a bit more volume, you can add this thickening cream to your damp hair before you blow dry it. It contains the Microfibers, a blend of Hydrolyzed Wheat, Corn and Soy Proteins to help strengthen, condition and smooth out your hair. I find that this product actually helps my natural wavey hair with flyaways be more tamed, it is less frizzy and also makes my hair look more va-va-voom oompf! You only need about a nickle sized amount on the palm of your hand to work into the mid to ends of your hair.

To set all your hard work, I like to add a light mist of this hair spray to basically seal everything in. It isn't stiff, and doesn't leave your hair crunchy or chunky. It contains the same corn and soy proteins with hydrolyzed wheat to strengthen and condition the hair as well as the microfibers to add volume. So I like to add this to the roots if I'm going out, and on my waves if I have just curled my hair so it gives it lasting power and my curls stay in my hair until I wash my hair (which means alot because usually my curls or waves go flat after a few hours).

All products mentioned are Paraben-free, Sulfate-free, Phthalate-free

I hope these products are able to provide you with the same volumizing joy as it did for me! My must have's would be the shampoo, volumizing cream and the hair spray!

Until next time, XO - M.

This Spring, OPI brings to us a beautiful collection called Always Bare For You, which features six sheer, soft and neutral shades perfect for the upcoming wedding season, and well of course also catered to those of you who love a more natural look to your nails.

This collection is meant to have a sheer romantic look to the nails, so I did not layer the polish to make it opaque, it would defeat the purpose of the collection. Instead, I stuck to my typical two layers and let the polish speak for itself.

Baby, Take a Vow - a true sheer baby pink.
Throw Me A Kiss - light pink base with an iridescent glitter finish.
Bare My Soul - a sheer tan neutral with a hint of pink finish.
Engage-meant to Be - sheer light grey
Chiffon-d of You - a metallic baby pink finish
Ring Bare-er - sheer sage green

While some of you may think, oh sheer polish, why? honestly when applied it looks beautiful. Engage-meant to Be is quickly becoming one of my favorites, it's just so unique I've never seen anything like it, same with Ring Bare-er. The other day I wore Bare My Soul at the office, and received a few compliments as well. Remember, with shades like Bare My Soul and Baby, Take a Vow - you can easily use them as a base, one coat, for a french manicure as well if you like!

Which shade is your favorite?

Until next time, XO - M.
