Valid

After her slow and sensual tour through Taurus, Venus’ home sign, she is prepping to get busy in Gemini, where she will stay from June 8/9 – July 3/4. Since May 15, Venus has luxuriated in her sense of self-indulgence enjoying taking life as it comes.

As a native of Venus in Taurus, the last week since finalising my speaking commitments at NORWAC (you can access my lectures here) have totally been about rest and relaxation. In fact, on my actual Venus return, I was in Portland. I visited the rose garden with some wonderful friends and went out for lunch. I bought myself new earrings. We chatted all afternoon. Then in the evening we feasted on steak and wine and the conversations continued. It was just lovely. I’ll deal the extra three kilos I gained when I get home!

Monday morning brought the New Moon in Gemini, which may give a taste of what’s to come when Venus arrives. The next few days may be about speeding up a plodding pace for a swift and more mentally agile way to enjoy life and connect with others.

In Gemini, Venus shares a special relationship with Libra, the other sign she rules. Via the aspect known as a trine, Venus will ‘see’ the house and/or planets you have in your birth chart that hold the sign of Libra. In the social air element, it may the collaborations you make now that lead to good fortune, benefit and connection.
While in Gemini, Venus will make the following aspects to other planets which will tone or modify her expression.

June 23/24
Venus opposite Jupiter – 17 degrees Gemini/Sagittarius

This generous and supportive pairing can help open you to new perspectives and possibilities. Venus in Gemini is curious while Jupiter in Sagittarius is moderate and cohering. Under the air and fire combination, a relationship may move at a quick pace or you may find yourself at the right place at the right time to receive or offer sage wisdom.

June 24
Venus square Neptune – 18 degrees Gemini/Sagittarius

Just as Venus begins to slip from Jupiter’s grasp, she’ll enter the influence of dreamy Neptune. Here is the cosmic place where boundaries dissolve and more euphoric connections can be established, if you’re willing to compromise. While Venus looks to Mercury in Cancer for guidance, emotions and ideas can be sensitised and softened. Connections that go beyond just the mental can pave the way for true emotional connections.

Now that the cosmic tides are beginning to shift, can you feel the pace pick up in your own life?

Deep and intense emotions are highlighted under this weekend’s Full Moon in Scorpio.

Full Moons occur each month when the Moon reaches the sign that opposes the Sun. In the evening as the Sun sets in the West, you’ll see the Full Moon rise in the East. This month the Full Moon in Scorpio peaks in opposition to the Sun in Taurus, at 27 degrees.
If you’re in Australia, the Full Moon will be at 7:11am, May 19 on the east coast and if you’re reading from the US or Canada, you’re looking at May 18, 2:11pm PDT.

In the days leading up to the Full Moon, feelings that have been buried, shoved to the side or you’ve chosen to be in denial about may bubble up to the surface.

The sign of Scorpio is deep, private and tends to not reveal much. Full Moon’s can generate drama and intensity that offer illumination. You may discover that no matter how hard you try to contain something, this weekend may bring a situation to a tipping point.

You might be beginning ponder stirrings within your soul, especially the kind that the practical realities of life don’t allow much time for. While the Sun and Moon form an aspect known as an opposition, you’re invited to explore the terrain of emotions and feelings. Oppositions can prompt questions. “What if I made that choice, how could things be different?” “If I had made x, y, or z decision, how might I feel about that?” “If I had of done that thing, where could I be now?”

Scorpio loves to probe, investigate and question. Taurus, on the other hand, loves things exactly how they are. You might be feeling the tension between exploring the dark possibilities of the unknown (Scorpio) and what that might dislodge your comfort or stability (Taurus).

Scorpio loves the dark. The Full Moon is about light. Even just for a short time, the Full Moon will reflect light upon areas of your life that are normally hidden or contained.
You might choose to open the proverbial lid and shine a light into a part of your soul you reveal to very few, perhaps even yourself.

Protection and the Past

Taken by Me, on my 40th birthday at Byron Bay. Also happens to be the previous time Mars was in Cancer!

When analysing the Full Moon, it’s important to consider the location of its ruler. Scorpio is traditionally ruled by Mars, who just prior to the Full Moon moved into watery Cancer on the 15th and will remain until July 2.

It’s been two years since Mars was in Cancer, lending an extra layer of emotion and sensitivity to this lunation.

Mars in Cancer can be over-protective and go on the defense when it feels under attack. Scorpio goes straight for the jugular, whereas Cancer likes to side-step approach to tackling an issue. Mars can be moody in the Crab’s sign, so your actions and emotional responses are likely to be changeable and dependent upon how you feel at a given time.

Trepidation is a word that often comes to mind when I think of Mars in Cancer. There is often an underlining fear or anxiety that determines its course of action, which more often than not, is linked to a past experience.

If you’ve ever watched a crab in action at the beach, in order to eat, it has to take a risk by leaving the comfort and protection offered by a rock, go out into the open and find food. Birds of prey may be circling above, an unexpected wave may roll in, but the sheer tenacity of the crab will ensure that any fear or doubt is overcome.

So far in 2019, there has been a lot of focus on the “Marie Kondo effect,” with Saturn, Pluto and the South Node. The cleaning and clearing out of both the physical and emotional realms have left an empty space that may be prompting an emphasis on “so now what?”.

With Mars now in Cancer, attention is turned toward the North Node. While there are many philosophies in astrological circles about the Lunar Nodes, time and time again in client’s lives I see the North Node as an area where there is an opening for potential and possibility. If you’re prepared to push a bit, you can make good on the opportunities that present themselves.

Thus, brings me to one of my favourite Mars keywords. Choices. Mars in Cancer will prime the territory for July’s eclipses, which have the potential to highlight both the short and long game in the Cancer/Capricorn area of your birth chart, see your mini horoscope below.
In a recent episode of The Water Trio Astrology Podcast, I described the tour of Mars in Cancer as your opportunity to select the best cuts of meat to put through the “meat grinder” as described by my friend and colleague Austin Coppock.

Until July, making choices that support your long-term goals will be your key to success. It may mean having to put your mood or feelings to one side and not let them determine your actions, or lack thereof.
It might mean making choices that your future self will thank you for, even if you can’t fully see the benefit of that choice right now.

So, for some, this Full Moon in Scorpio may bring an emotional intensity that may be messy to go through, but necessary to promote the connection and intimacy that Scorpio craves.
For others, it may be about opening the lid on a feeling, problem or situation and taking a look at it, recognising its existence but choosing to not give it oxygen or let it choose your course of action.

For me, this Full Moon lights up my 6th house and I’ll be attending to last minute details prior to leaving for NORWAC. This will include staying up as late as possible and sleeping in for a few days in order to attempt to get into the US time zone rhythms.

Where is Mars in Cancer for you?

Aries – home, family, domestic life

The New Moon in Taurus can help you plant the seeds of new beginnings after a period of introspection and solidifying what you’re prepared to commit too. The sign of the bull is the most resolute, solid and steadfast of all the 12 signs. Taurus enables you to build for the future based on solid principles, your most essential desires combined with enduring persistent action.

The bovine influence of the bull makes Taurus known for its stability rather than speed. Under the charge of Venus in Aries, you might prefer to set your own pace now, and preferably alone.

Venus is applying to form a square to Saturn in Capricorn. With some compromise, it’s possible to negotiate an arrangement that endures for the long term. This might mean recognising the proverbial seeds planted on the New Moon may take a while to materialise, but they do promise to last.

Whether you’re looking to make improvements to your physical body or your material world, both Taurean concepts, brilliant new insights and inspired new ideas can be solidified and materialised. Mercury prepares to move into Taurus on May 7 and then pairing up with Uranus in Taurus on the 9th.

The key to this lunation is to turn those light bulb moments to something tangible, solid and real. Giving voice to your thoughts, even if they seem off-beat, different or out-of-character. If you’re feeling stuck in a situation, changing the way you think about it is one of the most fruitful steps in improving it.

Personally, I’ve been taking it slow and steady this weekend, chipping away at projects at my own pace and not feeling as rushed as I’ve been in recent weeks! I even did a spot of baking, which I’ve not done in too long! The cheesecake pictured above is a part of my efforts, which is actually a very low calorie and high protein recipe. With the indulgent Taurus vibes, I decided to have it for breakfast. If you are curious about the recipe, you can find it here

Cassandra's Astrology by Cassandra Tyndall - 2M ago

As I type this under the watery skies of a waning Full Moon, Venus is in preparation to remove her ethereal Jupitarian robes, exit her exalted throne and don a sword and shield.

From April 20/21 through to May 18/19 Venus will tour through Aries, the fiery home of Mars. Venus is in her detriment in Aries due to the extreme discomfort she experiences here. Venus’ innate nature is to bind, unify and attract, while Aries is a spirited sign, symbolising a ‘me first’ and independent attitude.

Venus in detriment isn’t ‘bad,’ no value judgements, here. Imagine an actor cast in a role that he/she is totally unsuitable for. Simply speaking, Venus can’t do Venusian things very easily or effectively in Aries.
This transit may bring rise to tension around Venusian topics as her need for togetherness is impeded by Aries’ desire to go it alone.

As the planetary deity for love, relationship, joy and happiness, over the upcoming weeks you may experience a little tension in trying to bring people, events or concepts together. Venus adopts a solo vibe while in Aries, so you may prefer to spend more time luxuriating in your own passion pursuits, rather than accommodating the wants or demands of others.

While in Aries, Venus looks to Mars in the speedy and swift air sign of Gemini for guidance, while forming an encouraging sign- based sextile aspect. If you’re seeking an increased level of collaboration over the coming weeks, you can do this by adopting a flexible or curious attitude. Be open to a change of mind or a change in plans as a variety of options may peak your interest. Under the guidance of Mars in Gemini, Venus type topics may experience fast-paced progress.

In your own birth chart, Venus may not necessarily be responsible for themes to do with relationship, creativity or art. Look to the cusps that hold Taurus and Libra as their rulers, as they are your personal Venus houses. For you, Venus may represent your health, adventure and travel, children or career. It’s here, where you may notice a shift in energy while Venus is in Aries.

The house that holds the sign of Aries, is where Venus is currently activating. This house may indicate where you’re astrologically geared for independence. While Venus visits this house, you might notice the need for a little Venusian softening, support or partnership.

As Venus moves into Aries off the back of the second Full Moon in Libra, you may have come to some personal conclusions about balance and what that means for you. You can read more about that in this blog post.

Consider the areas of life where you may be fiercely independent or have trouble asking for help or support. Conversely, ponder where you might benefit from making your own choices, wielding your own sword and paving a path all of your own.

Venus will be in Aries from April 20/21 (Australian and US/Canada time) through until May 18/19, and she’ll make the following aspects.

May 7
Venus square Saturn – 20 degrees Aries/Capricorn

This aspect can highlight the friction between wanting something now, and the benefit of delayed gratification. Something you want (Venus) may be denied (Saturn) either by your own choice or someone else’s. While disheartening initially, being honest and upfront can help you set healthy limits around what you’re prepared to put up with and what you’re not. Compromise is possible once you’ve drawn your proverbial line in the sand.

May 9/10
Venus trine Jupiter – 23 degrees Aries/Sagittarius

Hope, optimism and generosity are inspired by this fiery link of fortune between Venus and Jupiter. A person of influence or know-how may offer you the right advice or support just when you need it- be willing to accept it if need be, or offer it to someone else who looks like they could use a hand. A free spirit and an open mind can lead to exciting new adventures or possibilities.

Venus square Pluto – 23 degrees Aries/Capricorn

In contrast, a link with Pluto invites you to delve into matters of truth, trust and honesty. Together, Venus in Aries combined with Pluto in Capricorn pulls no punches. A situation may rise that causes you to question another’s motives. Cut to the chase, cut the BS and get to the core of the issue, just avoid cutting off your nose despite your face. Vulnerability may be tricky now but is essential. Compromise can lead to making authentic adjustments, but the way out is the way through.

May 14
Venus sextile Mars – 28 degrees Aries/Gemini

This fun and flirty vibe can spice up an existing relationship or light the fire beneath something new. Venus is vibrant and strong, while Mars is curious and conversational. In this pairing of signs, Mars receives Venus by rulership, in other words Mars likes what Venus has to offer. Across the elements of fire and air, action, momentum and progress are possible in all types of partnership settings.

Cassandra's Astrology by Cassandra Tyndall - 2M ago

The Full Moon in Libra always highlight relationships, either personal, professional or the relationship you hold in your mind about something.

This is the second Libra Full Moon, thus, putting extra emphasis on themes of balance, or lack thereof in a particular relationship.

Libra is an air sign ruled by Venus. Full Moons tend to stir up emotions and have a way of illuminating something that may have been previously unseen. Under this lunation, you might be thinking (air) about a situation where you’ve been overly- accommodating in order to keep the peace or maintain harmony (Libra).

When we speak of balance, many of us conjure up images of equilibrium like the symbol of the scales that represent the sign of Libra. In reality though, few things in life are balanced in a true 50/50 split. When it comes to relationships, it’s often the perceived imbalances that cause us the most difficulty. Then of course, there are the literal imbalances in everyday life that can cause our emotional scales to tip- so to speak. Many of us spend more time at work than with our children, partners, friends or family. More of our income goes on making ends meet than saving or investing for the future. Increased attention on technology, less time with humans. Much of our time goes toward what we have to do rather than what we want to do. I could go on and on…

The Full Moon in Libra reminds us where the scales in our own life have become imbalanced.

This is the second Full Moon in Libra (the first occurred on March 20/21) and it lands on the final degree. It may feel as though events hang in the balance as you reach the end of the line within a certain situation.

Unlike the first Full Moon in Libra, this one surrounds a fair amount of shifting in astrological energy. Mercury has just ended a two-month tour of Pisces as of April 16/17. Now in Aries, you may be thinking with more clarity and focus, especially about your own wants, needs and desires. Delayed decisions may now demand a response.

The 20/21st will see the Sun’s ingress into fecund and stable Taurus. As the Sun makes its way toward its first conjunction with Uranus in Taurus on April 22/23, themes of restlessness that lead to change and liberation are likely. By its own nature, Taurus doesn’t embrace change readily. Uranus may bring rise to rumblings for change, especially if you’ve been curious about greener pastures on the other side of the proverbial fence.

Not only is the lunation at the final degree of Libra, the lunation ruler Venus, is also at her final degree of Pisces, a sign she’s been potently powerful in. Together, this suggests that this Full Moon hangs on a choice based on Venus. While still in Pisces under the Full Moon, her softening and binding qualities are intensified. Once her shift into Aries takes place on April 20/21, Venus sheds her cloak of compassion, opting for a sword and shield.

For some, this might mean having to defend and whatever you hold dear. For others, it may be about taking that sword and severing ties from what isn’t worth fighting for.

Full Moon in Libra, 29 degrees

Auckland: April 19, 11:12pm

London: April 19, 12:12pm

In this webinar, we’ll explore the Hellenistic time lord system known as annual profections. This elegant and surprisingly simple system hones in on your most dominant planet for a given time period.

You’ll discover;

Which planet is switched on as a time lord and when
How profections can ignite themes in the birth chart
How to incorporate profections with timing techniques you already use

I’ll show you how I combine techniques such as secondary progressions, firdaria, solar returns and even the concepts of horary (my personal favourite) to help you define the planetary themes for a given time period.

You can find out more and book your spot here (you don’t have to attend the live event as all videos, notes etc will be sent out to everyone who registers)

One of the most exciting aspects for January sees the Sun and Jupiter join forces on Friday February 10 in Australia, and Thursday the 9th in the US.

Fortune and favour are possible as the Sun and Jupiter form a sextile aspect at 18 Aquarius/Sagittarius. Until December 3, 2019 you can hedge your bets on Jupiter as he’s in top position to bare gifts of abundance and support.

Fresh from the New Moon in Aquarius earlier this week, new ideas, insights or breakthroughs have the potential to gain momentum as the Sun interacts with Jupiter.

As the radiance, warmth and moisture of these two planets bring life to a new idea, there’s a golden opportunity to make hay while the sun shines. This fortuitous connection may bring a person of influence who can guide or mentor you. You may also make the penny dropping realisation that you’re in a better position than you thought to say yes to something that inspires and uplifts you.

Across the elements of air and fire, taking action or a leap of faith is highlighted. With the Sun in the visionary and idealistic sign of Aquarius, coupled with adventurous and opportunistic Sagittarius, your big picture dreams for the future are there for the taking.

Recent setbacks can be overcome with a fresh attitude that can lead to an exciting breakthrough or new possibility. By seeing a challenge as an opportunity you’ll be motivated to push past any missed chances or seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Starting a new project can fare well, especially if that means backing yourself in a business or personal venture.
These two planets joining forces can assist you in developing your own personal mission. By seeking experiences that help you grow, you bring meaning and purpose to your life.

Blood Moon eclipse over San Francisco, November 2014

This is an adapted post from last year’s lunar eclipse in Leo.

Lunar Eclipse 0 degrees Leo
January 21
Brisbane: 3:15pm
New Zealand: 6:15pm
London: 5:15am
January 20
Los Angeles: 9:15pm

The time between eclipses has a different feel. I find it similar to the week between Christmas and New Year where you’re not sure what day it is, where you’re meant to be or what you’re meant to be doing.

There is a disturbance in sleep patterns. Psychic insights are heightened. (Whether you choose to follow them or not is another story). Encounters that seem karmic, real, yet fleeting, are often signatures of eclipses.

Today’s lunar eclipse in Leo brings the ending of the chapter that began two years ago. As the Moon reflects her silvery hues in close proximity to the North Node in Cancer, building tensions bring emotional release. The peaking energy of the Full Moon delivers a culmination, ending or closure.

As the sky writes the final lines of your Leo chapter for the time being, you might consider the ways in which you’ve been seen, or not. The need to be loved and seen for who you truly are, for what’s inside your heart. To be recognised for the gifts and contributions you had to offer and whether they were valued.

I’ve outlined later in this blog the houses of the birth chart that the Leo/Aquarius eclipses activate for each sign. Consider any planets you may have in the sign of Leo, as they too will give deeper insight for reflection. For me, I have Saturn in Leo. Blocked hearts, literally and metaphorically have been a steep learning curve. Giving with boundaries.

As I wrote last year….

I often describe eclipses as portals of fate. As they can be tricky to predict in both outcome and timing due to the seasonal and repetitive nature of the eclipse cycles, it is often in hindsight those penny-drop moments occur.
In previous posts, I’ve discussed the technical elements behind why some lunations are considered eclipses. As we are entering the halfway point in the Leo/Aquarius series of eclipses you may start to recognise the personal meaning of the Leo/Aquarius eclipses in your life.

As the path of the Earth temporary blocks the Moon’s reflection, something becomes hidden or order to be revealed with new clarity. Eclipses occur in seasons, so this may not be something that happens today, but something that has been building up over time. See the eclipse dates below.

Firstly, here are the dates of the Leo/Aquarius eclipses:

February 11, 2017 – Lunar Eclipse [22 Leo]
August 7, 2017 – Lunar Eclipse [15 Aquarius]
August 21, 2017 – Solar Eclipse [28 Leo]
January 31, 2018 – Lunar Eclipse [11 Leo]
February 15, 2018 – Solar Eclipse [27 Aquarius]
July 27, 2018 – Lunar Eclipse [ 4 Aquarius]
August 11, 2018 – Solar Eclipse (19 Leo)
January 21, 2019 – Lunar Eclipse [0 Leo]

It’s important to remember that the sky is always moving. As planets continue to wander, not every part of their journey will suggest important events in your life- eclipses are no different. Unless you have planets or angles- the ascendant, descendant, midheaven or IC in the signs of Leo or Aquarius, it’s quite possible the current eclipse cycles may not be all that impactful for you.

If you can cast your minds eye back to 2017 when the first eclipse of this series occurred, wheels may have been set in motion outlining the bigger picture of the eclipses since, and those yet to occur.

If you have a really good memory, the following dates may also be noteworthy from when the nodes last entered this portion of the zodiac.

February 2008 to August 2009
August 1998 to July 2000
August 1989 to July 1991
August 1979 to February 1982

When working with eclipses, I generally consider really tight conjunctions only, within 3 degrees maximum of the degree of the eclipse. When this is the case, the impact of an eclipse will be much more potent or life changing.
Overall, eclipses can trigger a string of events that plays out over the course of weeks or months and can have a karmic or fated feel to them. How they communicate with your chart will determine their potency.

Children of an Eclipse

Reading charts for over 12 years now I can say that nearly every client I’ve read for who is born on an eclipse has a deep sense of inner knowing. There is often an awareness that their life is fated in some way.

Making a choice and going with it seems to be the way they operate in life. Often with a lack of internal conflict as they are guided by a force that is fated or destined beyond those not born under an eclipse.

Children of eclipses tend to live a life of greatness as they instinctually know what their path is. If you’ve ever watched the show on Netflix, Vikings, they often mention ‘the will of the God’s’ or ‘it’s up for the God’s to decide our fate.’ While they not may see life exactly like that, children of an eclipse do often recognise a special force in their life.

A native of the New Moon eclipse may be more behind the scenes than those born on a lunar or Full Moon eclipse- as you may expect.

Either way, a type of duality permeates their personality as one of the luminaries literally has its light blocked/eclipsed at birth.

To be born on an eclipse, you have to be born on a New or Full Moon. In the case of a solar eclipse, the Sun and Moon are conjoined and within range, 18 degrees of the North or South Node. In a Full Moon/lunar eclipse, the Sun and Moon are in opposition and still within range of the nodes. If you have your birth chart, you’ll recognise the nodes by the ‘headphones and horseshoe’ that lie opposite each other.

The Eclipses and Your Chart

Even if there isn’t a potent influence of these eclipses for you, they will be triggering life topics, aka houses. As all eclipses are linked to fate, they will remind you of your free will to pay attention to the messages the sky is telling you, or not!

For me, I didn’t expect major turning points during the Leo/Aquarius eclipse cycles as these signs occupy cadent houses in my chart. Cadent houses are known to be less active than the other houses. Though, the Full Moon in Aquarius (not technically an eclipse, but a sign of things to come) in August 2016, I did make an important decision that has since become a major turning point in my life.
With each eclipse since, I’ve needed to continually readdress this decision and deal with any fated or karmic outcomes as a result of my choice. I expect I will continue to do so until the nodes change signs and eclipses occur in the Cancer/Capricorn axis, of which we’ll get a sneak peak of in July.

Take note of the feelings or events that are coming up now. Are the themes from the eclipse dates mentioned above repeating? This will give you insight into the personal meaning of this amazing eclipse for you.

Below I’ve listed the houses that this eclipse triggers for each sign. As this eclipse is the Leo/Aquarius axis, it may play out over two related houses. If you know your rising, then read that sign, if not then your ‘star’ sign will also offer insight.

Aries/Libra – 11th/5th houses
– topics including friendship, support, abundance, creativity, romance, children and joy.
Taurus/Scorpio – 10th/4th houses – career, professional life, reputation and life direction, home and family, roots, history and the past
Gemini/Sagittarius 3rd/9th houses – learning/teaching, travel, overseas or foreign interests, what gives you meaning and purpose, siblings, communication, religion, academia
Cancer/Capricorn 2nd/8th houses – money, cash flow, income, joint finances, death, investments, loans, bills, inheritances
Leo-Aquarius 1st /7th houses – you- hour health, body attitudes and habits, relationships, significant others, partnerships both personal and professional, adversaries
Virgo/Pisces- 12th/6th houses– retreat, rest, labour, pets, sickness/wellness, service, sacrifice, isolation
