Where to buy roast duck in Puchong? You will probably hear the name ‘Soon Lok’. Restoran Soon Lok is a Chinese restaurant located along Jalan Kenari 20, Bandar Puchong Jaya. This area is popular with restaurants and cafes and finding a parking spot is a challenge.
Restoran Soon Lok is air conditioned and you can easily spot
the restaurants with the hanging roast ducks in front of the restaurant. This
is a popular restaurant and it is often packed during dinner time on weekends.
We went to this restaurant twice with our family and this is our first time blogging about it.
Let’s start with their signature roast duck. Their version of roast duck comes with crispy skin and pretty good texture for the meat. We enjoyed their version of roast duck and the taste is good. However, we do prefer roast duck that comes with more fat as it gives more flavours in terms of taste.
We ordered the Hong Kong Kai Lan and the texture is crunchy and the taste is pretty good.
The stirred fried mushroom is nothing to shout about as we thought the taste is quite subtle.
Their version of four heavenly kings (vegetables) consists of brinjal, long beans, petai and lady’s finger. The taste of this better and we wished to have more chili sauce for this.
The sweet and sour pork is good and our kids loved it. The texture of the meat is soft and our boys loved this.
Sizzling Japanese tofu with egg. This is another classic dish for kids and the taste of this is really good. Our boys enjoyed this as well and this goes well with rice.
Steamed fish with light soy sauce. The fish is steamed to perfection, the fish was fresh and the texture of the fish is just right. This is another dish that our boys enjoyed very much.
Lastly, we ordered the sizzling seafood with assam sauce. To be honest, we enjoyed this very much as the sauce is strong in flavour and we enjoyed the squid and the prawns.
Overall, there are some hits and misses in terms of the
taste of the food here. The roast duck, the fish, the seafood and the tofu are
good while the other dishes are just average. Maybe we ordered the wrong food
but anyhow the restaurant is always packed.

Restoran New Lai Fatt Seafood Batu 9 Cheras Review
The last time we blogged about this restaurant, it was in 2008 and that is eleven years ago. It was called New Loi Fatt before renamed to New Lai Fatt. The restaurant next door is their competitor or rival but from the same family. We are not sure when was the time the family started to have a big fight and then split to two restaurants (next to each other). This is located in Batu 9 Cheras.
We went to both restaurants but we preferred the Restoran New Lai Fatt. The issue is getting your way here as it is located hidden off the main road and getting a parking space. Make sure you don’t enter the wrong restaurant too.
We started off our dinner with the Sweet and Sour Pork. If you read our recent food reviews, there is always a sweet and sour pork dish and that is for our boys. Kids love sweet and sour pork and it goes well with rice. When there is Sweet and Sour Pork dish means we are eating with our two boys.
Stir Fried Green Dragon with fermented beancurd (fuyue) is next. For those who never tasted green dragon vegetables (direct translation from Chinese), the texture and taste of this is really good. You get most of the taste of the vegetables with hints of the taste of the fermented beancurd.
Steamed Tofu (beancurd) with soy sauce. This is another dish for the kids and they won’t be disappointed by the smooth texture of the tofu and the taste of the soy sauce.
Steamed Prawns with Eggs. The first time we dined here 11 years ago, we ordered the ‘big head prawns’ as recommended but this time we changed it to the normal prawns. To be honest, it is advisable to order the ‘big head prawns’ as it comes with the prawn roes and it adds more flavours to this dish. Otherwise, this is just another steamed prawns with eggs.
Stir Fried Prawns with Special Sauce. We always love this style of cooking for prawns. The prawns are deep fried to crispiness before it is stirred fried with special sauce which is sweet and savoury. We love the freshness of the prawns and the texture and the sauce is flavourful and delicious.
Lastly, we have the Tong Por Pork with Mantao. For this dish, you need a fatty pork with the skin and the paste must be thick and flavourful. The mantao (Chinese bun) can be steamed or deep fried but the texture must be soft and it complement with the meat and sauce very well. We have no complains on the tong por pork but the texture of the mantao is slight rough. This is a very enjoyable dish in our opinion.
Our second visit to this restaurant and the food is still
good and the food prices are still reasonable. If we follow their advise to use
the big head prawn for the steamed egg, it will be better.

Restoran Tian Tien Lai Pork Noodles Semenyih Review
Ask anyone from Semenyih about the best pork noodles in
town, they will definitely tell you Restoran Tian Tien Lai. This is a popular
pork noodle restaurant in Taman Semenyih Sentral and they are not related to Tian
Tien Lai Seafood restaurant in Pudu.
We went there some time ago out of curiousity and also due to recommendation from our friends. The restaurant is opened for brunch only and it was crowded.
The waiting for the food here is bad and it can take up to
40 mins and more than one hour. Either you visit restaurant early or prepare to
wait for the pork noodles.
The pork noodles are priced from RM 6.50 and above and we ordered ‘mee kicap’ with additional fish balls.
We have no complains on the taste of the pork noodles. The taste
of the pork noodles is good and we love their homemade wonton. Not forgetting that the fish balls here have
really good texture and taste. No regrets driving all the way to Semenyih for
Overall the taste of the food here is pretty good but the big
question is do you want to travel all the way to Semenyih to wait and taste for
Probably you can do so after you hiked Broga Hill and turned to Taman Semenyih Sentral and wait for this pork noodles.
Parking is not a problem here but it can get warm during noon time. The people here are friendly but just get prepared for the long wait. This is our Restoran Tian Tien Lai Pork Noodles review in Taman Semenyih Sentral, Semenyih. The best pork noodles in Semenyih.

There is a couple of popular seafood restaurants in Bangkok and Kuang Seafood is one of them. They have two outlets in Bangkok and this is the Rang Nam Alley outlet. This seafood restaurant is near Victory Monument and Baiyoke Sky but you do need to take a Grab or taxi as it is far from BTS or Subway stations.
It is one of those restaurants located in the old buildings in Rang Nam. The design of the restaurant is nothing fancy but they do have many tourist guests.
Lucky for us, they brought in many live crabs that evening so we will have to taste some of these live crabs.
We were there for dinner and we started off with Tom Yum Goong. This is spicy and we enjoyed it. The soup is thick, savoury and flavourful. This goes well with fragrant Thai rice.
Bangkok spicy crockle salad is next. For crockles (siham) lovers, this is a must order. We love the texture of the crockle and the spicy taste of this. Remember to order heaps of ice water for this.
Stir Fried water spinach or better known as kang kung in Malaysia. This is the only vegetable dish we ordered and this is okay, nothing to shout about.
The highlight of our dinner, the Curry Crabs. This is not
spicy and it has strong flavours of the curry powder. This reminds me of the
curry crabs in Southern Thailand and we loved this. You get the curry crabs
with the thick curry sauce with eggs. This goes well with rice and only if they
have mini buns.
Overall, the pricing of the food here is reasonable except live seafood. The price of the crabs are over 1,000 Baht per kg (depending on stock and season) so do ask for the pricing of the live seafood before you order. For the food tasting, it is pretty good and this is recommended if you want to explore next seafood restaurants in Bangkok. Check out our other Bangkok posts here.

Pang’s Kitchen at Voizsup Taman Desa Michelin Star Experience
We read many reviews of Pang’s Kitchen at Voizsup before we went to dine there and many people thought that the outlet in Malaysia is a Michelin Starred restaurant. Pang’s Kitchen is Michelin One Starred restaurant in Hong Kong and not in Taman Desa as there is no Michelin Guide in Malaysia. Pang’s Kitchen at Voizsup is a branch from the main restaurant in Hong Kong. What you are getting at Pang’s Kitchen at Voizsup is a Michelin Star experience rather than the real thing.
Pang’s Kitchen at Voizsup is located at Ground Floor, Wisma
Miramas in Taman Desa Business Park. It is a cozy restaurant and the restaurant
was quite busy when we dined there.
The waitress recommended their signature dishes and do informed
us that the taste of the food served is lighter than our usual Malaysian Chinese
food. They must have read their Google Reviews for sure.
We had their signature braised beancurd with mushroom. We enjoyed the homemade beancurd and the sauce is good with rice.
Next, is their signature scrambled milk with scallop. This is egg white ‘omelette’ with scallops. The taste of this quite subtle and some might complain this as tasteless.
Sweet and sour pork with strawberry. You read it right, this is sweet and sour pork with added strawberry. Well, this is pretty good in terms of texture and taste. To be honest, the addition of the strawberry is just a sideshow.
Deep fried prawns with salted egg yolk. Prawns fried to perfection with crispy layer and coated with salted egg yolk. This is good but nothing in spectacular.
Lastly, we ordered their signature Deep Fried Wonton Noodles top with Superior Sauce and Prawn. In layman terms, this is Hong Kong version of ‘Sang Har noodles’ but using different types of prawns.
If you plan to visit this restaurant, keep your expectation
low and don’t be excited with the Michelin Star Experience. Malaysians have
very strong taste buds so we expect food to be flavourful. However, not all
food comes with strong flavours especially Japanese food like sushi. Pang’s Kitchen
food has its charms but it won’t take your breath away.

Family Mart Malaysia Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Tea Review
We have been trying to taste this for the past few days as it has been sold out in most Family Mart outlets in Malaysia. Today, we got lucky to taste the Family Mart Malaysia Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Tea.
We were in Cheras Leisure Mall and we got lucky as the Family Mart outlet offers the brown sugar bubble milk tea but they ran out of ice cubes. However, they managed to restock the ice cubes and finally we got our hands on the Family Mart Malaysia Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Tea.
Family Mart Malaysia Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Tea Review - YouTube
Watch our video on Family Mart Malaysia Brown Sugar Bubble
Milk Tea on Youtube.
For RM 4.90, the Family Mart Malaysia Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Tea is worth it and the taste is better than we expected. We enjoyed the brown sugar and also the Taiwanese black pearls.
Here is something that we didn’t say on Youtube. Since this
is a promotional item, Family Mart didn’t cook the black pearls so they heat it
up using the microwave oven. Yes, they heat up the black pearls using the microwave
oven. Somehow, they manage to make the texture of the black pearls soft and the
taste is pretty good too.
There are still many Family Mart outlets ran out of stock as it is still very high in demand. Hopefully, they are going to make this permanent.
Overall, the taste of the Brown sugar bubble milk is better than we expected. Please do comment if you have tasted the brown sugar bubble milk and let us know how you feel about it. We would love to hear from you guys. Somehow, Family Mart manage to create this with the right taste and right pricing. No wonder, they are getting more popular and expanding fast in the country.
Fours years ago, we were invited to visit Akita by Tourism Akita and Wendy Tours. It is one of the most memorable trips in Japan up to date. Unlike the other popular cities or places that we visited in Japan, Akita is very laid back and it more to the traditional way of living. In short, Akita is Japanese village or ‘kampung’. The Samurai Street is one of the highlights of Kakunodate in Akita.
The Kakunodate samurai district housed about 80 families. You get to see the samurai architecture and housing (that is uncommon in other parts in Japan).
We spent an hour here and we rented the Japanese traditional costumes for photography. This is the probably the reason why yukata rental is popular as it really makes the difference to the photo.
The Samurai Street is wide and shaded by the weeping cherry trees that is said to bloom in early May. You can find many Samurai houses on this street and also shops, cafes and restaurants.
The downside of yukata rental is the traditional Japanese wooden sandals that is hard to walk with especially walking into the Samurai Houses.
The Samurai Houses are free admission and they are Odano Samurai House, Kawarada Samurai House, Iwahashi Samurai House and Matsumoto Samurai House. Most of the samurai houses are closed from December to April.

Family Mart Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Tea Mostly Sold Out
Family Mart Malaysia did it again. Banking on the craze of the bubble milk tea or boba milk tea, Family Mart Malaysia offers their own version at RM 4.90 only. For that price, it is probably the less than many boba milk tea brands out there especially the fancy Taiwanese brands.
Picture: Family Mart Facebook
Family Mart Malaysia upped their game by introducing Brown Sugar Bubble Milk with imported Taiwan Brown Sugar Bubble. Introductory price is only RM 4.90 (Family Mart Fb Fans) until 25th June 2019. The normal price is RM 6.90, just like their page and save RM 2.
Promotion not applicable to FamilyMart Gateway@ KLIA 2, FamilyMart KLIA 2 Arrival and FamilyMart Resorts World Genting.
Since we haven’t review any boba milk tea lately, we decided to visit the Family Mart outlet near our home and to our horror, it was sold out! We were told that the Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Tea will restock this evening or tomorrow.
Maybe it is just one outlet that out of stock, so we drove to few more outlets and the boba milk tea is also sold out too! We asked some of our friends to check out the Sugar Bubble Milk Tea and they told us it is sold out too.
We are going to try our luck at Family Mart again tomorrow. We hope Family Mart Malaysia will make this boba milk tea permanent.
