Hot on the heels of announcing his sophomore album Loveseat, Still Woozy — the project of California musician Sven Gamsky — has announced a headlining North American tour that will take him on the road. In addition to a previously announced set at Osheaga in Montreal, Gamsky will venture to Canada for a pair of performances in Vancouver and Toronto this summer. Billie Eilish, the youngest person to ever win two Academy Awards, has spoken out about the sustainability problem with the recent trend of big-budget artists producing numerous vinyl variants of their albums. If you've been living outside the trappings of society, you might be surprised to learn that vinyl is back! Not that it ever really went anywhere, but it's become the best-selling physical medium for music by far, prompting numerous shortages — and initiatives to make the process and materials more environmentally friendly. At the same time, it's also become super trendy for big stars ..read more

Nobody ever talks about how brave it is to get up on stage and be a DJ. It's neither here nor there, but Calvin Harris — famously a DJ — headlined the main stage at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, FL, over the weekend, as has now needed to defend his performance in the Instagram comments section. Dance music publication Dancing Astronaut posted about Harris's set, with at least two commenters calling it "underwhelming." Others used similar verbiage like "mid" and "boring," while others still claimed it was one of their all-time favourites and that the producer is "the GOAT." As with anything ..read more

Olivia Rodrigo Roasted for Pretending to Be in Montreal While in Detroit
Exclaim!
by Ben Okazawa

Olivia Rodrigo has officially come north of the border on her sprawling world tour. The pop star wrapped up her Montreal double-header last night and, in true Zoomer fashion, marked the occasion with a TikTok.  Captioned "ily montreal," the video is supposedly shot in Montreal's Bell Centre — but it doesn't take a genius to deduct that she's actually at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.  Whether by the ads for American companies strewn about the stadium or, more simply, by the "Go to detroitsbiggestfan.com now" prompt on the screens behind her, it's pretty clear even to those unfami ..read more

I was very into Australian singer-songwriter Phoebe Go (born Phoebe Lou) from the jump; there was an immediately-loopable quality to "We Don't Talk," the first single from her 2022 EP, Player. Lucky for me, Lou has now announced her forthcoming debut album, previewed by new single "Leave." Produced in collaboration with Simon Lam (Charli XCX, Cub Sport), Marmalade arrives May 17 via AWAL, and features the recent singles "7 Up" and "Something You Were Trying." "I wanted the songs to be vulnerable and brave at the same time," the artist explained in a statement. "Life threw some stuff my way ..read more
