New Work Coming Painting studies have consumed my daily studio practice during my time between live events. Over the past several months I have been working exclusively with watercolor. It has been a time to reignite that excitement of observing the mystery of what watercolor can do when you let it flow and blend without trying to control the outcome. I have had so much fun playing with paint. Embracing small works as studies and not thinking about the potential outcome frees me to let the paint lead me. Trying “What Ifs” is something that I love to do in my studies. Starting with a color and ..read more

Studio Tours  This is the weekend that fellow artists open their creative spaces to share with the public. Magic happens in these spaces. Processes are shared and the visitors get a chance to see the stories behind the finished art. I did not open my space this year and that allowed me the chance to support many of my friends. Larger Works Since my last blog post I have been enjoying my studio layout and playing with a different combination of mediums. Last year I made a series of small paintings using a limited color palette in watercolor with ink marks. The series was painted on a single full sheet of watercolor paper then cut into individual paintings. Now I am working on larger paintings of assorted sizes that will expand this series. Soft pastels have been added here and there. Drawing sticks which are cut from long twigs are great for using as dip pens to make interesting marks. The longer the stick the less I ..read more

Website Upgrade I have been busy behind the scenes for several weeks as I gave my website a major overhaul. I still have a few things to complete but I think you will find it I nicer experience. Slowly I will add new products. I now will be able to do real time updates at events and email invoices. That should streamline the checkout process and mean less manual paperwork for me. A newsletter should be available for subscribers soon. That will be useful for me to let subscribers know where my next events will be. As you check out this blog post please look at the various pages of my website an ..read more
