I hope your New Year is off to a great start! As many of you know, I love reflecting on the previous year by contemplating the artwork I explored. A common theme in the images of 2023 was Relationships; my relationship with the land, with the wildlife that pass by my studio and with family and friends who add so much to my life. Among these friends, I count YOU! Your support and encouragement keep me going while at the easel. Thank you. With that, I am excited to share with you this collection of paintings that either taught me the most or best reflect my authentic experiences of the year ..read more

Why do I paint the Tetons?

Why do I paint the Tetons?   Because they are beautiful, but that goes without saying.   We can ask “Why are mountains beautiful?” As an artist, I analyze this through the process of painting them. The Tetons are complex, faceted with a myriad of planes, each catching the light at a different angle. This jagged granite form has been sculpted by ice and water for eons. Rendering this complexity is a puzzle that I get lost in. The process of painting the Tetons is compelling, daunting, humbling and ever-changing experience that requires me to concentrate, be present ..read more

This Bear Painting Hits the Big Time

According to the folks at Jackson Hole Public Art, “A massive bear might just now stop you in your tracks when passing by Teton County’s administrative offices in downtown Jackson. It is not the famous Bear 399 and cubs (who visited the same spot last summer on foot with her 4 cubs in tow) but rather a giant reproduction of a painting titled “Outbound,” now on display as a fence banner between the Teton County Courthouse and General Services Building off of Simpson Street.” In October, 2021 I responded to a call to artists seeking work for a joint public art project between Teton County and ..read more

What was your experience of 2021? If I had to describe this past year, I would use the word extreme. It was a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. To be perfectly honest, parts of it felt overwhelming. Perhaps you can relate! So what was it that kept you grounded? For me, it was returning to love shared with family and friends and finding solace in the beauty of natural world. When I reflect the paintings I created this past year, I realize that each of them taught me so much. I want to tell you about what I learned! At times, it seemed that there was too much going on to fully focus on art ..read more

What I’ve Been Up To This Fall

Artist in Residency  One of the biggest challenges for artists is to find interrupted time to focus solely on the creative process. I certainly struggle with this. The persistence of emails, phone calls, appointments always vie for our attention. Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to step out of that by going on an artist sabbatical in northwest Wyoming. Over a year ago, the Brinton Museum in Big Horn, WY invited me to participate in their Artist in Resident program as preparation for a show I will have there in 2024. I have been painting professionally for 25 years and I c ..read more

Fall Arts Festival 2o2o There is a fresh crispness in the air and the aspens are just started to turn. Fall Arts Festival is almost upon us and despite Covid-19, it will still be a busy time. With a slightly slower pace this year, I’m looking forward to connecting with each and every one of you! I’m hosting several events at Turner Fine Art and participating in events with the Chamber of Commerce. I hope to see you there! “All Belongs to the Earth” Exhibition  September 14 – October 30 ..read more

Saturday Evening Post…strikes twice! In March, the Editor of the Saturday Evening Post, Patrick Perry wrote this to me, “You were gracious in allowing us to feature your beautiful image of the sandhill cranes on the Mar/Apr 2018 cover. And ever since, I’ve kept you in mind for future covers. And think we have found a perfect match. In the upcoming (May/June) issue of the Post, we are featuring a story on the healing power of horses. And your phenomenal portraits of horses would be perfect for the cover. Simply Exquisite!” It is not every day that I get a note like that! Now, the May/June 2020 ..read more

Over a year ago five of us Jackson Hole Artists were approached by the Booth Museum of Western Art to create a collaborative exhibition that showcases the caliber of art being created in our little mountain community. These 35 paintings traveled from the Tetons to Cartersville, Georgia to hang in what has been recognized as the #1 Art museum in the country by the USA Today Reader’s Poll. It has been an incredible honor to have my work included in an exhibition at the Booth Museum of Western Art alongside the talent of Amy Lay, Amy Ringholz, September Vhay and Kathy Wipfler.  This exhibiti ..read more

Top 9 Paintings of 2019

At the close of each year, I reflect on my experiences as an artist by compiling a list of works that have, for various reasons, been particularly important to my growth. This year’s post is first of a two-part series. Part II is my top paintings of the decade – stay tuned! For me, 2019 was a wild roller-coaster ride. While it was not short on challenges, it was also definitely blessed with amazing grace and abundance. While recovering from a ski accident, art was my quiet companion and provided a magical portal to another world of color and form. Images emerged from the canvas or paper in a ..read more
