Davide Salvadore, the father of Mattia and Marco from Studio Salvadore, comes from a long lineage of glassworkers. His family’s glassmaking tradition dates back to the early 1700s, with his maternal ancestors, the Fratelli Rossetto, creating exquisite pieces for a Piedmontese princess in 1721.
Davide’s journey into glass art began under the mentorship of Antonio Mantoan, where he learned every aspect of glass processing, from assembling furnaces to crafting delicate works. This month’s Not Grandma’s Glass is artist, mentor, and community leader Pearl Dick. She has been very busy over the last year working in her community promoting the arts while continuing Project Fire. Dick developed this glassblowing program to help with the trauma of youth injured by gun violence in Chicago.
