This is "Gay And Happy", a Confederate song from Texas, I'm not sure who composed this song, since my book on Confederate Texan songs didn't include a name. A new fan fiction song for you. This one is "The West Has Not A-Fallen Yet! ("A Poetic Reply To The Eastern Spite Of The Earth Empire"), a song from the early period of the Imperial rule on Earth. Both the Confederate States of Earth and the Union of Earth States were defeated ..read more

Information on this song states it was composed by an "M. Deeves" in 1865, I think the song might actually date from 1863, though, since it sounds more like it was composed for Jackson's funeral, or shortly afterwards. The 1865 date might come from a collection of Southern songs in which the song was included that was published in that year. The "Stainless Banner", which I featured in the video, had only j ..read more

This is "Belgium Put The Kibosh On The Kaiser", a British WWI song by Mark Sheridan, a music hall performer who performed hundreds of songs, most famously "I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside" (1909). It was first recorded on 6 October 1914 by Mark Sheridan. The song refers to the 1914 campaign in Belgium when the small British Expeditionary Force, along with an unexpectedly fierce Belgian defence, managed to delay the much larger German army, slowing them and wrecking the Schlieffen Plan which depended on total victory against the French to the west in a matter of weeks. By attacking Belgium ..read more
