Speak Does God expect us to speak up for others? I know He does.  As people who love God, we are called to speak up, show up, and stand up for each other, especially for those who cannot do it for themselves. Love demands us to defend the rights of all those who have nothing. “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”  Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭8‬-‭9  We need to develop the heart of Jesus, one that breaks over the suffering of others and acts on their behalf. “Being kind ..read more

Know I hope you know God is for you. He loved you first and has a plan for you. He thought dying for you was worth it. “I know that you can do all things and that no plan of yours can be ruined.” Job 42:2 Job spoke these words from his ash heap and through his physical pain; not from his couch and through his comfortable station in life.  Paul assured us that God has a purpose for all of us. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭ To be known is important to everyone ..read more

Good “God looked at everything he had made, and it was very good.” Genesis 1:31 Everything God made was very good in His almighty eyes.  So, the next time you look in the mirror, recite Genesis 1:31 out loud.   I challenge you to state it every day in front of the mirror  for a month’s time.   He created “you” and still sees that what He created in you as very good.   May we glorify Him in His creation of “us”, and refuse comparison to anyone else.  Honor His creation and stop saying things that start with  “I only wish I could change ” or “if I only looked l ..read more

Sin

Sin Ever think about sin wanting you?  Well, it does. Sin is an aggression against divine law; which is what Satan hopes will defeat God.  Cain was told to master it, and the message is true for us. “Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected?  You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” Genesis‬ ‭4‬:‭6-7‬ ‭ It is no accident that prayer would enter the scene.  It was recorded to have begun arou ..read more

Confusion “God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace.”  1 Cor. 14:33 God is never in the state of being perplexed, bewildered, or unclear in anything He does. His mighty mind is one free from disturbance and overflows with tranquility. Although our God is about order and peace, He did “use” confusion once that I can think of to keep the peace He designed. He called the place Babel, and it was the place where He confused the language of the whole world.  “So the Lord caused them to spread out from there over the whole world.” Genesis 11:9 Even in the midst of what appeared to b ..read more

What is Faith?

What is faith? The world’s description is complete trust or confidence in someone or something.  Did you know that even fear is faith?  The Bible’s definition is found in Hebrews 11:1.  Faith is, “Confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see”. It is defined as trust and belief in God and His promises, even though we cannot physically see God or understand how He is working. Read the full chapter to see the honor our God gives to those who live by faith.  You will want to join them.  The beautiful truth is, that none were perfect ..read more

Sees Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.” She also said, “Have I truly seen the One who sees me?” So that well was named Beer-lahai-roi (which means “well of the Living One who sees me”) Genesis‬ ‭16‬:‭13‬-‭14‬  The Lord who saw Hagar, a mistreated servant girl, sees each of us too.  He sees us in our joy, and He sees us in our pain. It is comforting to be seen and God, who is omniscient; sees all. Nothing is too small or insignificant for El  ROI  [el-roh-ee]: “God of Seeing”.  He ..read more

Everywhere! “We will leave here and go to Bethel. There I will build an altar to God, who has helped me during my time of trouble. He has been with me everywhere I have gone.”Gen. 35:3 The Lord sent Jacob back to the place he received the Lord’s help after he deceived his brother, Esau. Jacob claimed God had been with him everywhere he had gone, and was still him.  We can claim the same.  It was at the seat of his deception that Jacob was asked to return and build an altar on new terms with God; and it was there God changed his name his name to Israel. God never leaves us.  He s ..read more
