New Mexico’s State Quadrennial Convention happens during each presidential election cycle. Its purpose is to elect delegates from New Mexico for the national convention. At the national convention, these delegates will cast our state’s votes for the Republican candidate for president who wins the New Mexico presidential primary vote. Steve Pearce Breaks Rules by Endorsing Jay Block for State Senate Jay Block was popular amongst the SCC in 2022. That’s why Steve Pearce allowed Block to campaign to the SCC using the state party’s email system yesterday. There are some serious issues with many of the RPNM state chairman’s Rules Committee appointees. If any appointees voted to hold either of the recently called (State Central Committee) SCC meetings, they will definitely vote in favor of allowing regular virtual SCC meetings, which means they should be disqualified from their appointments. RPNM rules state virtual meetings are only appropriate in emergencies, when in-person meetings are prohibited by government, or due to acts of God. We Republicans opposed COVID lockdowns and abuse of emergency powers. We should oppose any attempt to solidify emergency restrictions within our party. Party meetings should be held in person so that the State Central Committee can have real discussions about changes to the rules. The Republican Party of New Mexico has failed badly at promoting honest primaries. From poorly run party conventions to party officers not following rules, the RPNM has created a mess of what would otherwise be an unbiased party primary system. Only 29 out of 479 endorse Steve Pearce? The endorsement letter sent Thursday by the Steve Pearce for Republican Party of New Mexico Chair campaign listing 29 members of the SCC was completely odd, it makes some bold claims about RPNM’s infrastructure. In his email on Monday, Mr. Pearce claims to have raised $9 million dollars.
