Gal.5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Gal.5:25 – If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit as well. ‘Get in line’, this was one of the drills we learned in elementary school, to lining up was critical in order for a teacher to keep their class in harmony. In today’s verse Paul is describing a spiritual harmony that only comes when we walk in the Spirit. I guess the first thing we need to determine is what does that mean, what exactly is walking in the Spirit? To me this is very simple, it means to walk under the direct influence of the Spirit. This is easil ..read more

TASTE AND SEE

Ps.34:8 – Taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! This is a classic description of true faith coming from the lips of David. David knew that more than the head and a proper belief system was involved in faith, faith has everything to do with the heart. This is what Jesus was getting at when He told Nicodemus he must be born again. Nicodemus had spent his life studying the scripture and was quite well versed in the scriptures. His problem wasn’t his head knowledge but it was an issue of the heart that Nicodemus was dealing with. I look at it like thi ..read more

SOUL THIRST

Ps.63:1 – God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water. We are all created with an incredible soul thirst that can only be quenched by the water of life offered by the Lord. In our fallen state we can’t seem to comprehend what our need is and fall into a hopeless pursuit of something that will quench our nagging thirst. This is the quest of all humans searching for something to satisfy their thirsty soul. Everyone seems to have their own remedy to this soul thirst, drinking at the empty w ..read more

Luke 8:22-25 – Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the lake.” So they launched out. But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. They came up to Jesus and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Wh ..read more

Lk.5:23,24 – While He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” And He reached out with His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” In this passage we see the authority, power, and the will of God correspond. These three are involved in the healing power of God even today. First we must recognize the authority to perform healing miracles. Does Jesus have authority to heal sick bodies and has He given that power to His church? I w ..read more

FRIEND, YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN

Lk.5:19,20 – But when they did not find any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of Jesus. And seeing their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.” I wonder what rushed through this man’s head that day when Jesus said, “Your sins are forgiven”? This was not what this poor man had on his mind when he was lowered through the ceiling, he wanted strong, functional legs again. He wanted to go back to work, go back to the synagogue, and just get back to living a n ..read more

Lk.5:12-14 – – And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the leprosy left him. And He charged him to tell no one, “But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, just as Moses commanded.” This is probably one of the very first miracles that Jesus performed. As we reflect on this powerful he ..read more

BLESSED FORGIVENESS

Ps.32:1,2 – How blessed is he whose wrongdoing is forgiven, Whose sin is covered! How blessed is a person whose guilt the LORD does not take into account, And in whose spirit there is no deceit! The tragedy of sin is not so much the consequences we ourselves suffer (we all know the price of sin is high), but the true tragedy is the broken fellowship with God that we then endure. This is the story of man all the way from the garden with Adam and Eve up until the other garden, the one called Gethsemane. Mankind lost communication with the Lord which changed everything, We are all born sinners an ..read more

Lk.5:22-25 – But Jesus, aware of their thoughts, responded and said to them, “Why are you thinking this way in your hearts? Which is easier, to say: ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher, and go home.” And immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God. The miracles of Jesus were a taste of the world to come. The atmosphere of our eternal dwell ..read more

Lk.5:12,13 – While He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” And He reached out with His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately the leprosy left him. I love the tenderness of the Lord displayed in this passage. This poor leper had been an outcaste possibly for many years. One of the tragedies of leprosy at this time was not being allowed social interaction. In our world it would be like having a permanent cont ..read more
