The Christian Church in Kansas is pleased to announce that Rev. Dr. David Dubovich has been called to serve as the region’s Associate Regional Minister. His first day will be June 1, 2024.  In this role, David will provide pastoral care, search and call, and congregational support to the Central and High Plains Districts.  Additionally, David will work with clergy care ministries regarding clergy standing, ordination, commissioning, and scholarships.  He will also work with clergy, Disciples Men, and Spirituality retreat planning teams. Save the Date! The 2024 Kansas Disciples Women Fall Retreat will take place October 2-4 (Midweek) and October 4-6 (Weekend) at Disciples Center at Tawakoni. This year’s theme is “Strength for Today, Bold Hope for Tomorrow,” and Rev. Katie Sexton Wood, Executive Director of the Arizona Faith Network, will be the keynote speaker. Cost is $85 for the full retreat; $65 for one-day partial retreat, or $30 for children (2-12 years). Registration will open in July. Disciples Center at Tawakoni is seeking volunteers to help with maintenance projects at the camp during Tawakoni Work Days on May 16-18. These projects include items such as installing post and chain around parking areas; trimming back trees around trails; mulching and grinding dead trees and stumps; deep cleaning facility buildings and installing flooring at Cabin 1. The Christian Church in Kansas will be holding a second Spirituality Retreat October 23-25 at Disciples Camp at Tawakoni. Similar to the retreat held earlier this spring, the theme will be Love in Action: What Does it Truly Mean to Love Your Neighbor as Yourself? Doug Euler and Donna Gilchrist will guide participants through the wisdom of author Kristen Neff.
