Current Trends in Health and Wellness: Embracing a Holistic Approach
Let’s be honest, if feels like there is something new popping up everyday. Soon, we’ll all be sleeping in pods infusing us with high dose oxygen, while reds lights fluctuate and an IV drip occurs. The same pod will randomly fill with cold water, drain and overheat and then the bed will fill up in sequential order to provider lymphatic drainage.
That sounds a bit futuristic, doesn’t it?
Sadly, it’s probably not too far off.

In the world of running, the pursuit of speed, endurance, and efficiency often takes
center stage.

Contrary to popular belief, runners can significantly reduce their risk of injury and
enhance their performance through targeted strength training exercises.
Strengthening the muscles around joints helps maintain proper alignment and stability,
reducing the risk of overuse injuries such as stress fractures and tendonitis. A stronger

Working as an OT in a traditional setting, I see many people after an injury or illness and assist them in finding ways to adjust as needed. It didn’t take me long to realize that many of the people I was treating had diseases that could have been prevented by proper nutrition and fitness. Working in this role showed me the importa ..read more

I’ve been teaching Pilates for over 20 years and have had many clients with varieties of issues.
Over the years I’ve found that there are some people that have a hard time connecting their core and specifically, their deep abdominal muscles to their movements. Having a stable and strong core (or Powerhouse as Joseph Pilates called it) is mandatory for stabilizing the body when using arms and legs.
I recently encountered a client at Anchor Wellness Center that, while presenting as a strong and capable body, had begun to have issues with her back. After some PT sessions, it was determined that s ..read more
