Hi there! The writer formerly known as Emma here. I just wanted to provide a quick update to let everyone know that Family Matters (the main story and Halloween extra) will tentatively be re-published during Memorial Day weekend and The Rising Son will follow shortly after. Tentative because some factors like formatting will be at the mercy of the schedules of others. Both stories will have new covers and bonus content, and I’m incredibly excited to present them to you. Again. (And after all of that, Two Princes.) Write on, C ..read more

A canon-adjacent Harborview Immortals flash fiction that picks up where the Tuck-centric bonus chapter 7.5 in Family Matters leaves off, but from another vampire’s POV. I originally wrote this while visiting my BFF in Texas, hence the vampire in this story being from Texas, too. There was no blinding glow of neon or country music or gaggles of good ol’ boys gathered out front swappi ..read more

A canon-adjacent Harborview Immortals flash fiction (and unintentional sort of prequel to Scars from the Past) about Jacob paying one last visit to the family member he’ll never know. Copyright 2023 by Emma Peterson/CLI Cover image by Gijs Coolen on Unsplash 1982 Jacob sensed Dominic moving swiftly around the many pecan trees that decorated the backside of the property, the sound of his arrival blending in with the noise from the leaves that rustled and swayed in the mild breeze. Instead of looking at his lover, he kept his eyes trained on the house in front of him, carefully committing every ..read more

A canon-adjacent Harborview Immortals flash fiction about Officer Brian learning about his new job from his new boss and meeting the sexually generous son of the club’s owners. Significant risk? Talk about the understatement of the century. Going to war was a significant risk. Playing Russian roulette was a significant risk. Intentionally ..read more

A canon-adjacent Harborview Immortals flash fiction about a newly-turned Steven getting revenge for all the years of his father’s mistreatment. (TW: implied sexual abuse, outright violence) Copyright 2015 by Emma Peterson/CLI Cover image by Ethan Rougon on Unsplash 1978 Stop struggling, Stevie. You’re only going to make it worse. Steven had long lost count of the number of times he had heard those words over the past ten years, whispered drunkenly behind the closed door of his bedroom and followed by atrocities that no human being should ever know. Although he was no longer a human being hims ..read more

Why…

… do writers do their best writing when they’re actually not writing? I practically finished a novel in my head while I was grocery shopping this morning. I’m resuming Scars from the Past this week. I want to wrap that one up before jumping back into the series proper, especially since it’s the last Extra short story involving any of the main characters that I have planned for a while. I’m really looking forward to spending time with Jacob, just the two of us. As my longest-existing character, he deserves some special attention (even if it involves delving into his past and making him relive t ..read more
